I'm a customer of SDBullion, and saw that Kitco has lower prices on items. So naturally I contacted SDBullion over email asking for a price match and they confirmed that they price match Kitco and that I should give them a call. In the call, they refused to price match, and wouldn't specify why. When I asked the representative for the reason again, he just answered that he won't say and hanged up on me (Luckily I have the call recording to prove it). So I emailed them again asking what's going on, and they replied that they reserve the right to refuse to price match for any reason. That's not written anywhere in their "Price Match Guarantee"! I wanted to share a frustrating experience I just had with SD Bullion as a warning to other stackers. I recently made two significant purchases with them, but after this experience, they will be my last. One order for a Scottsdale Mint silver bar was placed more than 20 days ago (and won't even ship until 2/13). The second order placed two-day's ago, for a "Dealer’s Choice" silver gold/silver selection, is where the real trouble started. The Issue: Last Saturday, I added the item to my cart for $9,019.50. It took a few minutes to fill out my information, but when I hit submit, no confirmation screen appeared. I assumed the order hadn't gone through due to a system glitch. I went to place the order again, but the price had suddenly jumped to $9,239.50. Seeing the price hike, I checked JM Bullion and found an equivalent for $8,990, so I placed the order with them instead. A moment later, I was shocked to receive a confirmation email from SD Bullion for the higher price of $9,239.50. Their system had processed the order at the inflated price without showing me a confirmation screen first. The Customer Service Experience: Despite the "double order" being caused by their own system's failure to show a confirmation, I didn't even ask for a cancellation. I simply emailed them the next day asking for a refund of the price difference or a store credit. Today (Monday), I spent over 70 minutes on hold just to get through. When I finally spoke to a representative, they flat-out refused to offer a refund or even a simple store credit. To make matters worse, the representative was dismissive and had a completely unprofessional attitude. The Bottom Line: It is incredibly disappointing to see a major dealer show such a lack of flexibility and poor customer care—especially when they market themselves with the slogan "The Lowest Price. Period." If you're looking for a dealer that actually values its customers and stands by their word, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere. Has anyone else had issues with their system or support lately? I’m definitely taking my future business to competitors like JM Bullion, Monument Metals, or even Costco. TL;DR: SD Bullion’s site glitched, charged me a higher price than what was in my cart without showing a confirmation screen, and then refused a reasonable request for credit with a bad attitude. Just kind of a funny story, I finally convinced my folks to invest in previous metals (at all time highs of course) and they basically gave me the cash and said “fine but you deal with it” so i got them 1oz of gold and 16 oz of silver back on the 26th of December. Well with the craziness going on, SD Bullion sent out an email saying their shipments will be delayed and yadda yadda and now my folks are upset with me constantly asking if they sent it yet or what’s the update and I have no answer other than what they said which shipping will be delayed. As of this morning APMEX has sold about 1 million dollars worth of 10 oz KG and 100 ox bars opening inventory of 5.7 million to now 4.7 million ...SD Bullion had an inventory as of Friday night of 10 million dollars now it is 8.8 million ...Most of the inventory available for sale are pre-sales ....For Provident/JMbullion same company as of Friday night they had an inventory of of 15.9 million now it is 12.9 million ...On a normal weekend I typically see 2 percent of their inventory being sold now it is much more than than that..7-10X.. Someone on Twitter said that SD did $30 million in sales this weekend. They raised their free shipping to $500 and have a warning about delays in shipping. UPDATE - it took over a week of stress and many phone calls/trips to the bank but I got my money back Still lost the silver i was really looking forward to, still was charged fees for the wire and the canceled order, but it went from a lawsuit to just a 2-star review of the site. I'm now terrified of buying silver online, and im really disappointed i missed out on the silver squares. (I love square coins, even more than rectangular bars) I might get a 2oz eagle coin just for the cute bird, maybe a tetris block set, but idk.... this kinda put a bad taste in my mouth Alrighty, i have a bit of a problem with SD Bullion. I've seen them for a while and I know they're a real company but I can't help but feel like I've been scammed. I bought 25 1oz SD bullion square bars last week, $1400, I chose to do a wire transfer. It took me a while since I've not done one before so I didnt get the transfer done til Thursday, but i messaged their support and they said it's fine. The bank was basically inundating me with 'are you sure' and 'once we send this you can't get it back' but eventually the wire sent, they even called me to confirm one last time. Friday morning I get an email from SD bullion simply stating my order has been canceled. I call right away and while on hold, I get another email saying it was canceled because it was flagged as 'fraud'. Guy picks up, i explain, he says there's nothing he can do and to call back Monday when the fraud department is back in office. I ask if I'll be able to salvage my order since the silver bars were sold out, he said 'probably'. The guy also said i should've gotten an email asking for my ID but i didn't get one, they just canceled my order abruptly. I asked if I'll get the $30 wire transfer fee reimbursed and he said 'most likely', so i call on Monday. Apparently he just lied, fraud department doesn't talk to people on the phone, i didn't get reimbursed, and the silver was sold off in the meantime after it was canceled. They apparently don't have my money but it was never put back in my account so someone is lying. I asked why it was flagged as fraud but they wouldn't tell me, just that their 'notes' said it 'had something to do with my address'. I was told I could buy some more silver but when I said it will just get flagged again since they didn't tell me WHY it got flagged, and the guy said that 'security department said they'll send you the email asking for your ID'. So, did i just lose $1.4k? I heard they're a legit company but honestly, wtf is going on with those people? Edit: Happy to report that a shipping label has been created and the shipper has control of the package now - I'm not enthused about the delay, but at least it is getting delivered now - it also seems as though they updated the free shipping to be 2 day which is a small, but appreciated gesture Original post: I've made a number of orders at SD Bullion - but one of my recent ones made at the beginning of the month has still not been shipped - over three weeks ago - payment has long been settled, over two weeks. I've called customer support 4 times and spent around 90 minutes in total with them including wait times. They originally said they had marked my order as urgent and talked to the shipping manager and that it should be shipped in 24 hours, then after 25 hours I called again and they said they should've said that it should be shipped within 48 hours of being marked urgent and to wait another day, now 50 hours after the shipment was marked urgent it still has not shipped, and the customer service agent now just says that it should be shipped "soon" and that "its definitely not fraud" - pressing the customer service rep more they said it should be next week and that my order is not the only one that has been delayed. I want to trust SD Bullion, I've used their service and had timely deliveries and fair premiums before - the customer support staff are friendly and apologetic - I can understand that things are hectic right now and they're probably having a lot of orders - I've given them a fair amount of grace over what they originally said to expect - but something is going wrong and they are not delivering orders on time Buyer Beware!
