Hidden Camera in womens restroom?
*Edit* - I wrote this in the comments, but for everyone else: The first thing we did was file a police report and turn the device over to the police department. This camera was recently found (not so well hidden) in a womens restroom where i work. I am hoping that someone here will be able to assist in identifying the specific model number or manufacturer of the camera so that i can dig deeper into figuring out who placed it there. It was being powered by a generic external battery pack and had no micro SD card in it at the time. The camera is roughly the size of a matchbox, has a blue blinking light when powered on, and has no identifying brand markings on it. This will be interesting to self-host.
When I bought my first GoPro (hero 8) I also bought a 256 GB micro SD card and GoPro's cloud storage subscription for $5/month. I rode my bicycle around town and to work every day, I went to family outings at the lake, had conversations with friends who I just don't talk to anymore (one is dead), and certain experiences that I just don't have anymore, I just press record and either mount my GoPro somewhere or strap it to my head and forget about it. Eventually I got the media mod that exposed the charging port, bought a 30,000 mAh battery and had a long USBC cable run from my battery in my backpack to my camera on my head/helmet, so I was able to record for literally hours. All that changed when I found out that GoPro uses AWS for its cloud storage. Now I'm figuring out how to get this kind of storage as fast as possible, and I need to do this preferably before GoPro collapses as a company. submitted by /u/blakealanm to r/selfhosted [link] [comments]

MicroSD price inflations really suck, and still very paining keeping an eye out for not so expensive 512GB card...
I still remember when 512GB were still under $50 and now look at how hard inflation has screwed with MicroSD prices again. I've been looking at a new MicroSD for my og Switch 1 but then if I even go with 512GB, most of my Switch games will quickly nearly eat up the 512GB, thing was nearly full to the brim till I popped into my Android tablet for consumable media like anime, ROMS, cartoons, etc. At this point, I've already concluded to ending up buying a 1-2TB microsd card instead. I've got so many shared Switch games to download from my wife's Switch library so that 512GB be chock full to the brim in no time at all submitted by /u/MSakuEX to r/SBCGaming [link] [comments]

Why are SD cards so freaking expensive in official stores in Japan (like Bic Camera)?
Hey everyone, I’m currently in Japan and I’ve noticed something absolutely insane: SD cards in official stores like Bic Camera are ridiculously overpriced. I went to multiple Bic Camera locations in Osaka and Kyoto, and the prices were crazy every single time. For example: SanDisk Extreme Pro 128GB → Amazon Japan: around 7,000 yen → Bic Camera: 17,000 yen (!!) Like… wtf? That’s literally a 10,000 yen difference for the exact same card. I even asked one of the employees about the price difference, and his explanation was: “Ah, the online ones are the old models. The ones we sell are the new models with the new packaging, that’s why they’re more expensive.” Which makes zero sense, because it was literally the exact same model, same capacity, same speed, same labeling, everything. Just a huge markup. I didn’t really have a choice either I’m still here for 4 more days and I underestimated how much storage I’d need. I brought around 650GB, but I’m taking way more photos and videos than planned, so I needed another card urgently. Still… these prices are crazy. Does anyone know why SD cards are so overpriced in physical stores here? Is this normal in Japan or is Bic Camera just wild with SD card pricing? submitted by /u/7lker_sama to r/JapanTravelTips [link] [comments]

Bought a camera off an auction, found possibly the holy grail of SD cards
I don't think I'm ever going to find anything like this ever again. There were two cameras, a Canon PowerShot G3 X and a Canon PowerShot S80. The S80 had a small 2GB card with about 300 or so photos on it from a 2017 trip to Rome, which I thought was really cool. Then I checked the G3 X, which had a 32GB card in it. It was completely full. I went through all the photos, and determined that these are all the places they visited starting from 2017 up to October of 2023. Italy (2017), Alaska, Colorado, South Korea, Malaysia, California, Washington State, Utah, South Dakota, Wyoming, Nevada, Israel, Jordan, Egypt, Portugal, and Italy (2023). I was absolutely blown away. They've seen everything, from the Alaskan tundra, Mount Rushmore, Petra, Pyramid of Giza and the Sphinx, and even a picture and video of Pope Francis from their 2023 Italy trip. I want to thank this older Asian couple from Toronto for giving me the chance to see some of the coolest pictures I'll ever see on a random SD card. I left a photo of them (I believe) at the end. submitted by /u/vekstthebest to r/FoundPhotos [link] [comments]

Trump targets antifa movement as 'terrorist organization'
How to Protect Yourself Before the Crackdown Gets Worse It’s not just DHS. The NSA has already spied on U.S. citizens before, and they will do it again. That part’s already historay. What’s different now is the tech. With modern surveillance tools, a government agency doesn’t need your phone to be tapped or your camera to be on. A single Wi-Fi signal in your home can be enough to map your movements and behavior. Everythinsg you own is a sensor. Your smart TV, your router, your location history, even the apps you forgot were running, all of it builds a profile on you. Once dissent is labeled as terrorism, they don’t need to prove anything. They just need to say you’re connected. If you’re loud, organized, or helping others resist, you are already on a list. It won’t start with mass arrests. It’ll start with protest leaders, community organizers, and online activists getting raided, quietly detained, or charged with vague crimes. They’ll say it’s for safety. The press will mostly stay quiet. The average person won’t speak up until it’s tood late. And no, the courts will not save you. This is one of the most dangerous misunderstandings people still hold. Once you’re labeled a terrorist or national security threat, due process does not apply in the same way. You can be held without charges. You can be denied bail indefinitely. The government can bury your case under sealed evidence or classified documents. This is not new. We have already held people in Guantanamo Bay for years without trial. The legal system has been rewritten over decades to carve out a separate lane for “terrorism,” and now that lane is coming for activists, organizers, and dissidents. This is not just Trump. This is the result of decades of legal rot designed to allow a perfect firestorm of state power when the time comes. If you want to avoid being swept up in this, start locking yourself down now. You must also understand that the U.S. and Israel possess the most powerful spyware ever built wand it’s being used. One example is Pegasus, originally developed by NSO Group and deployed by Israeli clients, now mirrored in surveillance programs linked to companies like Palantir and used in contracts with U.S. law enforcement and federal agencies. Pegasus can infect a phone with a single missed call. Once in, it can: Access all your photos, texts, files, and microphone Track your GPS in real time Turn on your camera without you knowing Monitor encrypted apps like Signal and WhatsApp from inside the device Leave zero trace the average user can detect This level of surveillance was sold as a foreign counterterrorism tool. It has now been used against journalists, dissidents, lawyers, and protestors. It will be used on U.S. citizens. If you even hint that you hold the “wrong” opinion, especially if you’re helping others organize, you are a target. Basic Tools You Should Be Using: ProtonMail or Tutanota for email. Never use Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook. Signal for secure messaging (requires a number). Session for anon, phone-free messaging. Briar for offline peer-to-peer messaging. Use burner emails and burner usernames for everything. Never reuse names or images between accounts. Tor Browser is critical for anonymous browsing. If not Tor, harden Firefox with privacy extensions and strict settings. Learn to use Tails OS (runs from USB, leaves no trace). Or go deeper with Qubes OS for full compartmentalization. Transfer sensitive files or keys with USB drives, not cloud servicess. Share encryption keys or critical links using offline QR codes or SD cards. Do not bring your personal cellphone to a protest. Leave it powered off and at home. If you need a phone, use a burner with no accounts or contacts. Wrap it in foil when not in use, this helps with geofencing Do not use work or unsecured Wi-Fi for anything tied to activism, research, or organizing. Your employer’s network is monitored. Public Wi-Fi can be traced back to you easily. Tools like FireChat, Bridgefy, and Meshtastic allow communication without the internet. They form mesh networks that work offline, making them useful if networks are shut down or compromised. Practice with these tools now. AITA for going through my bf's SD card which he gave it to me to use?
My 26F boyfriend 28M have been dating for almost 2 years. Two weeks ago my boyfriend gave me an SD card to use in my camera. i have an 12 year old digi camera which needs sd card for storage i checked online prices and it was steep for a broke uni student like me. my boyfriend found some old sd card that he had and gave it to me. today i wanted to use it in my camera and found that there was way less free space than what it said on the sd card. so i plugged it in my laptop and checked the contents on it. Here's what i found, old pictures and videos of my bf from his android phone, the pictures dated from 2017-2018. which was so cute because i have never seen those pictures before and i know most of his friends and recognized them in the pictures. but i couldn't recognize 2 girls from the pics with whom he had multiple pictures of. so i sent one of the pic and asked who are they. he was immediately so furious and asked me why i went through his shit. was i wrong to not have asked if i could go through his sd card? or was it okay for me to have gone through it? idk if i should apologize or something. if i were in his shoes i wouldn't mind him going through my stuff or even my mobile. that's why i am so confused on what just happened. After he was furious he told me he'll take back the stuffs he gave me. and he lives just 100 mts away from my room. he came within 2 mins and took all his stuff and left. Is this normal reaction? because idk, i would never react like this, idc if he sees any stuff of mine or literally even if he wants to go through my phone. I am so lost and scared as to how he reacted. was AITA for going through his stuff without asking him first as i wasn't looking for dirt on him? Edit: after i looked through his stuff i first asked what to i do with the files on sd card, he told me to leave the files as it is and then i asked him about the girls. Sorry i forgot to include this before as i was so focused on what just happened and was not emotionally stable. submitted by /u/Various-Werewolf-890 to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

Polaroid underwater camera will not accept any SD card I’ve tried… since January
Bought for my teens 13th birthday. We have been trying different cards for months since then, and from Amazon to ScanDisk- nothing seems to work. I knew the price was too good to be true, but I thought it was a good brand 😮‍💨 submitted by /u/Justme-again to r/Wellthatsucks [link] [comments]

Millennials have the biggest photographic black hole in modern history
I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. We (millennials) have the largest gap in personal photographic records of any generation in the modern age. Not because we didn’t take photos but because we lost them. We lived through that weird in-between era: - Too late for shoeboxes full of printed Kodak photos - Too early for iCloud, Google Photos to back everything up - Right in the middle of MySpace, Photobucket, Friendster, and early Facebook—with no one thinking to archive anything I’m talking about: -Crappy digital cameras with SD cards that vanished in a move - Old flip phones and Razrs with tiny, pixelated videos of high school parties - College photos that lived only on a laptop that died in 2011 - Entire friendships and phases of our lives lost with the deletion of a MySpace account We documented everything, but most of it is gone. Billions of photos, probably. Compare that to Gen Z, who has their whole life in Google Drive or their Snapchat Memories. Or Gen X, who have physical photo albums passed down. It’s like we lived in the lost city of Atlantis, and no one preserved the artifacts. Anyone else feel this loss? Have you ever gone searching for a photo from 2007 and realized it’s just… gone submitted by /u/crispins_crispian to r/Millennials [link] [comments]

Entitled neighbor called police to my parents’ house for my husband hunting on their land
My parents are retired and live in a little house on about 7 acres of land. It’s not a big plot of land but it’s cozy and private, just outside of town, and about 6 acres are woods with a creek running through the center of the woods. It’s really a very beautiful piece of ground. With the woods and creek they get lots of animals going through, including deer. A couple years ago for Christmas we got my parents a few trail cams so they can see what all is going through. My mom likes photography and she’s been able to get lots of photos of deer, foxes, wild turkeys, coyotes, and other wildlife going through their yard. As you may imagine, this is some prime hunting land. My husband occasionally enjoys hunting and has from time to time gone down there for deer season but he doesn’t do it frequently. My parents have had several people stop and ask them to hunt their land and they always say no. Frankly its just barely big enough to legally hunt and they don’t want people all over their property all the time hunting. They have no problem anytime my husband wants to hunt, which is not often, but he’s family. There is a neighbor who lives down the road who badly wants to hunt on my parents land and has been told no repeatedly, they don’t allow hunting. Last year my husband was in the woods and found a tree stand installed that wasn’t his. Unfortunately when they checked the trail cams, the SD cards had been removed. No proof it’s that neighbor, but they suspect him. My parents travel a lot so it would be really easy to do without their knowledge. My husband took the tree stand down and I believe the cameras were replaced with new ones that don’t need SD cards. Last month before deer season started the neighbor again asked my parents to hunt and they said no, they don’t allow hunting except their son-in-law if he wants to hunt. My husband decided he’d try and get a deer this year for deer season so he got a deer permit and went on the first day of deer season. He shot a decent sized buck within 10 minutes of getting in the woods. My dad was awake and heard the shotgun blast and came out to see if my husband needed help. My husband got the deer field dressed then my dad, who is the nicest guy you’d ever meet, got his tractor out of the garage and drove it to the woods, scooped up the deer in the bucket, and put it in the bed of my husband’s truck. So hunting ended pretty quickly into deer season this year. About an hour later, a county sheriff’s deputy and a game warden show up at my parents’ house. Said they received a complaint of unauthorized hunting and deer poaching. The officer said the neighbor (actually gave his name) called and said they had been told repeatedly there was no hunting allowed on that ground. They had seen someone go into the woods with a shotgun, heard a shot, and then someone with an orange tractor picked up the deer and put it in the bed of a black pickup truck. In our state if you are caught poaching, they can confiscate your firearm, any hunting gear you have with you, and any vehicles used in the course of hunting/poaching. So the neighbor was really hopeful that they’d take my husband’s gun, truck, and my dad’s tractor. My dad said “This is my house and my land! And the orange tractor is mine. The black truck belongs to my son-in-law who has permission to hunt here anytime he wants.” My husband produced his valid deer tags and all was good. Also, screw that neighbor who had to be watching the woods with binoculars. There’s no way he could have seen all that from his yard otherwise. EDIT: Just because of the sheer number of comments made and messages received that I can’t answer all of them, let me clear this up. YES he deer hunts with a shotgun. I’ve never heard of deer hunting with a rifle, just like many people apparently have never heard of deer hunting with a shotgun. In our state deer hunting with a shotgun is required, deer hunting with a rifle is illegal. He uses shotgun deer slugs, not buckshot. This is the norm around here. The area is too flat and open to safely hunt with a rifle when a bullet can travel too far. Shotgun deer slugs are quick and drop the deer immediately with no suffering. Does not leave pellets in the meat because it’s one slug. It doesn’t leave a large hole that destroys the meat. Shotgun is preferred in areas like ours with more population or smaller land areas to hunt because the slugs won’t travel as far. submitted by /u/NY568 to r/EntitledPeople [link] [comments]

Samsung uploads ads for MicroSD cards. All comments want them back in their phones! Why is it such a problem?!
Microsd card promo 1 Microsd card promo 2 So Samsung has uploaded ads for their microsd cards on youtube this week. And the comments are full of people wanting them back again on their flagship phones. Hundreds of likes and comments of people who miss them. Why is it such a problem to have the option? Sony shows with Xperia it can be done. Heck, they even have the missing audio jack. Samsung has neither. Why? It's not about money. Samsung is the biggest company there is probably when it comes to electronics. It can't be about lack of interest. Clearly people want this. And it clearly isn't about not being technically possible. So the real only reason has to be Samsung pushing their own memory and cashing in on it. SD Cards are great. Better than cloud dependent on internet and/or subscription. They have great capacity (1TB) and great speeds (200/140Mbps). More than enough to serve as backup and definitely good enough even for recording videos and taking photos or even some apps. Why not give people the option then? It's crazy how phones ditch so many functions over time making excuses. Samsung flagships are the most expensive Android phones yet they lack so many features even the likes of LG and Sony managed to implement. What's even crazier is that lowtier Samsung phones still have these features. It makes no sense. If anything it should be the other way around. SAMSUNG, for crying out loud, can you get your act together and finally include SD Card slots in your S series? Personally, I automatically exclude phones without it and each year there are less options. I want a great camera etc. but you can't be serious with this. All phones calling themselves Pro and Ultra and Max and being a joke. Sony and LG were the only ones who were serious with photography all along. But LG is dead and Sony is lowkey forgotten cult. This needs to change. It's 2023, act like it. submitted by /u/jamasha to r/samsung [link] [comments]

LAOP finds 4 hidden cameras in the bathrooms (facing the toilet) and the bedroom of the house she is watching for their coworker. Calling the police non-emergency line results in the police officer telling her that cameras inside the home are legal. Can LAOP take the SD cards to prove what happened?

Early April Fools? Someone stole my Dad's SD card from his trail cam from the middle of nowhere, edited this in a picture, then put it back in the camera. He was scared shitless for an hour.

LPT: Create a bootable SD card for your Mac for emergencies and as a portable Mac when you're away from yours
Modern Macs allow you to boot off of external drives be it USB, Thunderbolt or an SD card. What's really great is that you can keep your SD card in your wallet or just about anywhere on you. Plus, SD cards are cheap and pretty resistant to physical conditions so fairly reliable compared to external HDDs. http://i.imgur.com/KjdLETR.jpg 1) Buy a class 10 or faster SD card. Use 32gb or larger. 2) Format it to use a GUID partition scheme 3) Use Carbon Copy Cloner to create a bootable copy of your current startup volume 4) Hold down the "Option" key upon powerup and select your SD card EDIT1: Hey sorry for being a little technical. Just found this walk through for how to create a bootable drive for your Mac. You simply choose your SD card within the instructions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BeVcHpzVjFw EDIT2: Reasons to do this at all for non-techie types Security: When you use a computer not yours, you are subjecting your entire computing experience to being recorded. Without spending a lot of time and having the appropriate access on the computer, you have no idea if malware like key loggers, screen capture, or cameras are enabled. With your own boot drive, the machine you boot off of becomes YOUR machine. Recovery: If your Mac's startup disk fails, it's difficult (at worst) and time consuming (at best) to recover (if at all). Even if your data is stored on another disk, it would be time consuming to re-install and reconfigure all of your apps and their associated settings. Not all of your settings are backed up online like iCloud does with your iOS device. Repair: If the primary boot drive of your mac fails, it's possible to fix your boot drive. However, you'd have to boot into another another volume to do so. You could use a recovery disc but it'll only have the most basic tools and take a long time. With a bootable read/write volume, not only can you repair your original startup but you can even use your portable boot volume for day to day work in the interim unlike the repair disc. For laptop owners, you won't have to keep your optical drive with you everywhere. You can duct tape an SD card to your lapto p if you need to.. or just leave it in. submitted by /u/1541drive to r/LifeProTips [link] [comments]
