What happened to the seat cushions?
I would like to start this by saying I love Alaska Airlines! I have lived in the PNW for 15 years and have flown Alaska at least 90% of the time. I'll even pay a more to fly Alaska over any other airline. And I will argue with anyone who disagrees that Alaska goes above and beyond when other carriers won't. But this last flight, we flew to Hawaii on a 737-8 Max. While the little phone holder and USB-C plug on the seat back is nice, I would gladly give that little gimmick up to get a couple of extra millimeters of padding to the seat cushion. Because the whole family was traveling, we booked saver fares, and I know better than to complain about seat selection or being in the very last row because of that. But this time we were in the last row, seats didn't recline, seat angle felt like it was almost vertical, and there was so little cushion on my seat that my bottom was sore even before we took off. It was by far the most miserable I have ever been on a flight. Much worse than longer flights to Asia and Europe on other carriers. Come on Alaska Airlines! Decisions like this make me think you are no better than any other airline. Why should my family continue to pay more to fly with you if you are just going to treat us like the same way other carriers do??? submitted by /u/Girlyhairboy1 to r/AlaskaAirlines [link] [comments]

AITJ for locking my patio storage bench after my neighbor kept treating it like shared seating for her guests?
I live in a small apartment complex with those ground floor patios that are technically private but very visible from the courtyard. Mine is tiny, just two chairs, a plant shelf, and one storage bench where I keep gardening stuff, a blanket, and my shoes if they are muddy. Since spring started, my next door neighbor has been having people over a lot more. Fine. Not my business. What became my business was that her guests kept ending up on my patio because "there was more room," and specifically on my storage bench. At first I thought maybe it was a one time thing, but it kept happening. I would come home and find half empty cans on my little table, my bench scooted three feet over, and once my cushion on the ground because somebody had apparently decided it looked better there. I asked her twice to stop using my patio furniture. She laughed and said I was being kind of intense because it is "all basically one shared outdoor area visually." Last weekend I came home and there were three people sitting on my bench while she was inside grabbing drinks. One of them actually apologized and said she told them it was fine. So the next morning I bought a simple outdoor lock for the bench lid and looped it through the frame so it cannot be moved without undoing it. It looks a little ridiculous, I know. Now she is offended because she says I made the courtyard look "hostile" and embarrassed her in front of company. A couple neighbors think I could have handled it less pettily, but I honestly got tired of my patio turning into overflow seating for peolpe I do not know. Office Chair Seat Cushion Help!
I need help on picking out a seat cushion for my works' office chair. We had a chair that I could sit in without issue, but no longer have it. Our current one HURTS my back to where I can barely walk after an hour or so sitting in it. I've been looking but everything that looks like it'll work is out of budget and everything cheaper looks iffy at best. So I have a few questions: Is CushionLab worth the price? I've seen people hype it up, but spending $72-$179, on sale, seems like a lot. If it is 100% worth it, though, I'm willing to consider it and save up for it, to help keep my back comfy. Is this ComfiLife one actually a good cushion? What would you recommend? Below is information I think will help with suggestions: I'm in the US and want to spend under $50 if possible. I need something that can handle a heavier person's weight. I sit at work 8 hrs a day with intermittent standing. I have lower back pain from a previous injury where I pulled a muscle and was bed ridden for about 3 weeks — I could not walk without assistance. I can't stand Purple cushions. They're so uncomfortable to me. I have a Secret Lab back cushion I take to work until I find something, and I love it but need something to sit on, too. Plus I'd rather not have my gaming chair stuff get lost or messed up at work. Any help is greatly appreciated! If something is over the $50 I'm wanting to stay within, but if there is something that is an absolute lifesaver that is between $50-$100 I'm willing to take a look! submitted by /u/SmushyPenguin to r/OfficeChairs [link] [comments]

'Avatar: Fire and Ash' - Review Thread
The conflict on Pandora escalates as Jake and Neytiri's family encounter a new, aggressive Na'vi tribe. Director: James Cameron Cast: Zoe Saldana, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Kate Winslet, Michelle Yeoh, Oona Chaplin, David Thewlis, Jack Champion Rotten Tomatoes: 70% Metacritic: 61 / 100 Some Reviews (updating): nssmagazine - Martina Barone The repetitiveness to which Avatar - Fire and Ash subjects us cannot be condoned, especially when it chooses to keep spectators seated in front of the big screen for three hours and twenty minutes. The only novelty that adds real surprise in Avatar 3 is the lethal leader Varang, played by Oona Chaplin. Head of the Ash People, the warrior is ravenous, brutal, and fiercely unforgiving. With Avatar 4 scheduled for 2029 and Avatar 5 for 2031, not only does the third title re-propose visual and entertainment solutions already tested and therefore not unprecedented, but one wonders what else there would be to say given the emotional and spectacular weight of Avatar - Fire and Ash. What else is there to tell that hasn't been told yet, especially considering the film seems like a repetition? What is there to see that hasn't been shown yet? Variety - Owen Glieberman The Story Is Fine, the Action Awesome, as the Third ‘Avatar’ Film Does New Variations on a No-Longer-New Vision. It's better then the second film — bolder and tighter — and still has its share of amazements. But it no longer feels visually unprecedented. The Hollywood Reporter - David Rooney It’s easily the most repetitious entry in the big-screen series, with a been-there, bought-the-T-shirt fatigue that’s hard to ignore." NextBestPicture - Dan Bayer - 8 / 10 Another visually-stunning spectacle with a rock-solid story that makes the most of its epic length and big budget to deepen its universe. The cast rises to the occasion, especially Oona Chaplin as the villainous Varang. While it still works, the plot echoes both prior films in the series so closely that it borders on self-plagiarization. Slant Magazine - Keith Uhlich - 2 / 5 Cameron has never been especially good at writing characters beyond the broadest of strokes, which isn’t much of a detriment when, as in Aliens and the two Terminator films, the narrative stakes are high and the technological innovations augment rather than overwhelm the comic-book fervor of his vision. The Avatar movies, by contrast, are empty vessels of pro-forma spectacle that, true to the very disposable era of entertainment in which we’re living, make bank primarily because of how quickly they can be memory-holed. Consequence - Liz Shannon Miller - 'B' Yes, the execution defies subtlety, but subtlety has never been a defining aspect of this franchise. Everything is always loud, from the music to the visual design to the emotions. It’s an approach ensuring that Cameron’s message will be heard by even the most distracted viewer. Cameron has ended the world twice over with The Terminator movies, depicted the true-life tragedy of the Titanic, and explored the terrors of marriage and motherhood with True Lies and Aliens. Yet by comparison, Fire and Ash finds him unafraid to dig around in the darkest corners of the human soul. That Cameron wants to push into heavier themes at this point in his career speaks well of his ambition as a storyteller, and generates some real excitement for what might come next. Though, considering the budget of these movies… therapy might be cheaper. The Wrap - William Bibbiani The only way ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ could be more hypocritical, and taken less seriously, is if the characters also yelled “Hypocrisy sucks!” while sitting on Whoopee cushions. Los Angeles Times - Amy Nicholson 'Avatar: Fire and Ash’ has dynamite villains and dialogue that’s surf-bro hysterical. But plot-wise, the story is the same as ever. So instead of getting swept away by the narrative, I just settled in to enjoy the details: hammerhead sharks twisted into pickaxes, ships that scuttle like crabs, the drama of an underwater scream submitted by /u/ChiefLeef22 to r/movies [link] [comments]

Tailbone Pain: Seat Cushion Reccomendations
I have a Steelcase Leap V2 of unknown age (I got it for like $200 off some office sale :3). Recently I aggitated my tailbone presumably by slumping like a degenerate. My doctor recommends that I "try to avoid pressure on my tailbone for ~6 weeks" which is turning out to be significantly more difficult than I anticipated, especially since the padding on the chair is slowly giving out. I was thinking of getting some extra cushioning to just put on top of my seat that I can sit on. I'm wondering if anyone has any good tips. Thanks! submitted by /u/CivilEye to r/OfficeChairs [link] [comments]

AITA for refusing to reimburse my friend for a chair that broke under me?
I (F25) was at a friend’s house for a game night this past weekend with a group of about 6. Everyone brought food and drinks and we were having a good time, when about halfway through the night I got up to use the bathroom. When I came back, I saw that one of the girls had moved from a chair to the side to my space on the couch. This didn’t bug me as people shuffle around in groups, so whatever. The chair was an antique wooden chair that sat a bit lower to the ground with an added back/butt cushion. When I sat down it immediately broke, sending me to the ground with the seat under me and the arm frames falling to the side. Everyone got quiet for a second before jumping up to help me. I wasn’t hurt, just very embarrassed. For context I’m a bigger girl, about 260 pounds at 5 foot 7 inches. My friend (F27) was very gracious and nice about it when it happened, accepting my apologies and telling me not to worry. Her boyfriend (M29) said that the chair was his grandmother’s and it has fallen apart before and he was able to repair it. I was ushered back to the couch and game night continued. Fast forward to the next morning, I received a text from my friend who let me know that the chair couldn’t be put back together, and that from her research it would cost about $250 to get a new one, but she’d let me know exactly how much when she found one. I was a bit taken aback, and responded confused, asking why I would be expected to pay for a faulty chair. She said that while yes, on occasion the frames would become unattached and cause it to fall apart, but that that’s not what happened this time. She sent me pictures of the broken chair, particularly a bent support and 2 other broken supports. She said that the chair broke under my weight and couldn’t be fixed, and since the chair was an antique from her boyfriend’s late grandmother, she wanted a new one for him. I responded that the chair was very old and had a history of collapsing. If they were concerned about preserving it, they should’ve not had it out for people to use, and $250+ for a chair I sat in for 1 second seems a bit ridiculous. At this point she seemingly got frustrated, and said that she loves me but that I’m her “biggest friend” and that it wouldn’t have happened to anyone else. She said: “It broke from your weight plopping down all at once, not because the frame was loose. I think it’s only fair you reimburse us for the chair since you’re responsible for breaking it.” I’m still figuring out how to respond. I don’t want to pay her for something I don’t see as being completely my fault. I also think she’s using the scenario to shame me about my weight a bit, which I find frustrating. My friends’ opinions are mixed. A few are saying that I should just pay her and move on, even if it’s not exactly my fault. One thinks it is my fault and I should pay up, and a few more think she’s in the wrong for asking and I should continue to politely decline. Seat cushion to help with sciatica?
I have seen these seat cushions advertised to help with sciatica. My sciatica is really worse after I have been sitting down for a while. Has any of these seat cushions ever helped you with your sciatica? If so, could you let me know what you would recommend. Thanks so much! submitted by /u/TypicalBackground585 to r/Sciatica [link] [comments]

My boyfriend found this vintage sofa on Facebook marketplace for $100! We were the second party to inquire - luckily the first people never showed up to pick it up! We just finished fully cleaning it and re-stuffing the seat cushions :)

This is where a gent named Celtic Gary lives in Coventry. After seeing a lady fall on wet leaves, he started taking care of his alleyway and keeping it clean. He also has a library, and a cushioned seat for passers-by.
