Nail techs/salons inside or close to Worcester who do designs and/or pedicures?
Hello! I was wondering if anyone here knew of any nail salons/techs that do complex designs on nails? I'm looking to get my nails done for graduation in May but have only gotten my nails done once in my life and that was almost 10 years ago. I want to get Scooby-doo themed nails, specifically a design resembling that of the mystery machine because its my favorite cartoon and has been a constant for me since high school. I was also looking to get a simple pedicure because the shoes I plan on wearing for graduation are going to be open-toed but I've never gotten one of those before either. Any sites/recommendations would be much appreciated! submitted by /u/Maleficent_Bet_5851 to r/WorcesterMA [link] [comments]

Do black acrylic nails designs look classy or feel too bold for daily use?
A few days ago I am seeing someone with black acrylic nails designs and they look very sharp and shiny. I am just noticing like okay… this is looking strong honestly. The black color is giving different vibe, not soft but more bold style. It feel like fashion statement more than normal nails. I am thinking how they manage daily things with long nails like this. Now I am thinking if these nails are comfortable or just for looks. I usualy keep nails simple so this feel very extra to me. I am also wondering if they break easily or stay strong. It look nice but also maybe hard to handle small tasks. My mind is like maybe good for events but not sure for daily use. Later I am laying and scrolling random stuff, checking many options on alibaba and seeing black acrylic nails designs. Some look very creative honestly. Now I am thinking if its worth trying or just better to keep it simple. submitted by /u/ayy271 to r/nailgroupkeke [link] [comments]

what are popular black toe nail designs
During a small family gathering I noticed someone had black toe nail designs that looked very stylish. At first it seemed like a simple choice but it really stood out. I thought about trying something similar for myself. But I remembered trying a nail design before that looked good at first but faded quickly. That experience was disappointing and made me more careful. Even small things like polish quality and finishing started to matter more. I began exploring more ideas to find better options. While casually scrolling online marketplaces including alibaba I saw many black toe nail design styles with different patterns and finishes. Some were simple and minimal while others looked bold and detailed. The variety was much wider than what I usually see locally. Now I am wondering whether to go for a simple design or try something more detailed that stands out. what are trending red toe nail designs
During a casual outing I noticed someone with red toe nails and it looked very stylish. At first it seemed like a simple choice but really caught my attention. I thought about trying the same look for myself. But I remembered trying nail polish before that chipped quickly and faded. That experience was disappointing and made me more careful. Even small things like polish quality and finish started to matter more. I began exploring better options to avoid the same issue. While casually scrolling online marketplaces including alibaba I saw many red nail polish options in different shades formulas and price ranges. Some were simple while others looked more long lasting and vibrant. The variety was much wider than local stores offered. Now I am wondering whether to pick a simple shade or invest in a better one that lasts longer and looks fresh. Nail Tech Tip of the Day: Your prep matters more than your design
If you’re just starting out as a nail tech, here’s something I wish someone told me earlier: Your nail prep is more important than your nail art. A lot of beginners focus on: perfect designs trendy colors fancy nail art But the reason many sets don’t last isn’t the design. It’s the prep. If your prep is good, even a simple set will last weeks. Focus on these things first: Properly push back and remove cuticle Lightly buff the nail plate (don’t over-file) Remove dust completely Dehydrate the nail properly Apply thin, even layers A clean prep = better adhesion = longer lasting nails. Most experienced nail techs will tell you the same thing: A perfect base beats a perfect design every time. submitted by /u/Nice_Peanut_6011 to r/NailCanvas [link] [comments]

"I would be happier to be a "f*ggot" than to be those who insult me": Borja Iglesias, the striker who fights for every cause.
In mid-January, hundreds of Celta Vigo fans, both men and women, went to the stadium with painted nails so that one of their players could continue to paint his. It was a show of love: a few days earlier, after a match against Sevilla FC, the player in question, Borja Iglesias, had been subjected to yet another wave of homophobic insults, including “go die, you dirty fag***,” as he has been for years. Additional Context For Palestine, against toxic masculinity, in favor of women's soccer. In August 2023, angry that Spanish Federation president Luis Rubiales did not resign after forcibly kissing international player Jennifer Hermoso, the striker announced his retirement from La Roja. Since then, Rubiales has been convicted and left, and Iglesias, who was recalled during the last gathering, could play in the World Cup. “When did you start painting your nails?” During lockdown, with my ex-girlfriend, at home, but I wasn't ready to show it off, I was afraid of what people might say. Shortly after, the Black Lives Matter movement (following the death of African American George Floyd in Minneapolis after being arrested by police in May 2020) had a big impact on me. So I painted my nails black to raise awareness for the cause and combat racist attitudes in Spain. Painting my nails makes me feel like I can express something, in the same way as a haircut or a tattoo. I don't always do it, it depends on how I feel, sometimes I use colors or designs. This is something very simple, you see (he shows his hands)? A French manicure, is that what you call it? It's starting to wear off, I'll go back soon. How do you deal with the homophobic insults you regularly receive on social media and in stadiums? The first few times, it affected me, I took it personally. But after thinking about it, I see things differently now. I don't consider being called a “fag***” to be an insult. When someone says that, I tell myself that I'd be much happier being a “fag***” than being like him, full of hate, with nothing else to do but hurl insults at the end of a game. What bothers me is that gay people are afraid to come out because of reactions like that. Not being able to show who you are and love who you want is unacceptable, which is why the fight against homophobia is essential and why I'm involved in it (in 2023, he was behind a video clip that went viral). submitted by /u/Sparky-moon to r/soccer [link] [comments]

Can I do a design on my nails without using salon tools?
Hey I'm a dude, so please forgive my ignorance. I'm relatively new to painting my nails, so I've never done designs on my nails. Always painted them black because it just went with every outfit and didn't draw too much attention. I wanted to try doing a simple design on my nails to see how they'd look and if I could ever get used to seeing them with a design. I saw a couple of inspo videos, and saw they were all people who were using tools and things that people at a salon would use. I have none of that, so I was wondering if I could still do my little simple design with none of that. If you're wondering what design I'd do I'm thinking an * on three of 5 nails (thumb, middle, and pinky). Could I do this and have it look nice? or should I just stick to plain black? submitted by /u/DebateNewt to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

Honest feedback needed: Would you actually wear these press-on nail designs?
Hey everyone 👋 I’m working on a new press-on nails product and would genuinely love some honest feedback from this community. The idea is to create affordable, salon-quality press-on nails with different design styles — from simple everyday looks to more detailed themed designs. I’m sharing a few sample images of the designs I’m testing right now. I’d really appreciate your thoughts on: • Do these designs look appealing enough that you’d consider buying them? • Which style feels most wearable in real life — minimal, trendy, or bold? • Is there anything that makes you feel you would not buy them? Be brutally honest — I’m here to learn before investing further into production. Thanks in advance for helping me build something people actually want submitted by /u/Infinite_Creme_9617 to r/NailArt [link] [comments]

My background is in finance and data science, and I recently joined ServiceNow as a Senior Data Scientist (IC3) with a total comp of about 50L. This took 6 months, 430 applications, and 12 interview processes. The rough phase After around 3 months of applying, I hit a point where even early stage startups were rejecting me. Some interviews went extremely well, but I would still get a “no” over something tiny. The market is brutal and unpredictable, and it is very easy to lose your head. I had two last round rejections where I genuinely felt I had nailed it. Those hurt the most. But every rejection sharpened something in me, including my communication, my stories, and my clarity. What actually started working A few things changed everything for me: A simple resume. No graphics, no colour, no fancy templates. Just clean formatting, measurable impact, and the right keywords. Volume helps, but only if directed. I applied widely, but I customised only for the roles I really cared about. Those were the ones that converted(sometimes). Prep everywhere, anywhere. While travelling, during small breaks, while on vacation. Podcasts, ML system design videos, SQL drills, DS and ML notes, even GenAI topics because interviewers now ask them regardless of the role. Interviews are reps. Even the small ones matter. You build the habit of thinking clearly under pressure. You will ace rounds and still get rejected. It does not reflect your capability. Sometimes it is hiring freeze, team fit, timing, budget, or simply bad luck. Move on. Why ServiceNow clicked I also had offers from Adobe, PayPal, and Mercor, but every conversation at ServiceNow felt different. With my finance and ML background, the Finance team felt like the perfect intersection. Takeaways if you are grinding right now Keep your resume impact focused, not task focused. Customise only for roles you deeply want. Do not underestimate fundamentals including SQL, stats, ML basics, and structured thinking. GenAI prep helps even if your role is not GenAI heavy. Rejections teach more than selections. Stay consistent even when you feel nothing is moving. It is a long and tiring process, but iteration compounds. Your next opportunity might be one application away. If you are applying to ServiceNow roles, drop the Job ID and your resume. I will refer wherever I can and try to help others the way people helped me. Hope this gives someone a bit of hope during their grind. submitted by /u/jas1up to r/developersIndia [link] [comments]

What I learned designing a TV mount that installs in 5 minutes with just nails
One of the more interesting projects we worked on at ProductInnov was with a client who had this bold idea: make a TV mount you can install on drywall in minutes, without drills, studs, or power tools. At first, we were not sure it was possible. Traditional mounts need screws and anchors. But the concept was to rely on nails at an angle so the weight would distribute across the wall. We ran a lot of simulations and tested prototypes until we landed on a design that could hold TVs over 100 pounds securely. The end result was Hangsmart TV, a bracket you can hang up in under 5 minutes. We tested it, refined it, and eventually it ended up on shelves at Walmart, Home Depot, and Amazon. Reviews from renters and DIYers were huge because it meant no more damaging walls or hiring installers. What I liked most about this project was that it shows how an idea that sounds impossible can work if you engineer it the right way. Sometimes the real innovation is not inventing something totally new, but rethinking how existing problems are solved. Curious to hear from others, what is a product you once thought was too simple to innovate but turned out to be a game changer once someone improved it? submitted by /u/Alwaysprototyping to r/product_design [link] [comments]

Simple No-Nails Shoe Rack
Super simple no-nails design shoe rack (or simply a shelving unit). Made form a free OSB plate I took off of someone on FB marketplace. Made just with a hand jigsaw + a sander. Fun little project! Pro-tip: make the cuts that go into each other a little too small and then fine-tune them when putting it all together. That way you'll get a sturdier resulting product :) submitted by /u/imotvoksim to r/BeginnerWoodWorking [link] [comments]

Some critique about Silksong
Some critique about Silksong As someone who’s beaten Hollow Knight at 112% (including Path of Pain), I came into Silksong excited, prepared, and ready for a challenge. And while there is a lot to admire here (the art, music, atmosphere, combat responsiveness, and character/enemy designs are all stunning) there are also so many design decisions that frustrate and pad the experience that I honestly can’t recommend the game to the average player. I have been looking forward to Silksong, counting the days and everything, but still I genuinly don't think these issues are due to too high of expectations/hype. This isn’t a matter of "git gud": Silksong leans not on fair design, but on overtuning numbers, artificial punishment, and questionable mechanical choices. About what I'm writing, I am referring to Act 1 of the game. 1) The Difficulty Problem. One of the most glaring issues with Silksong is how it handles difficulty. In Hollow Knight, the challenge built steadily: Early enemies were simple and died in 2–3 hits, giving players time to learn spacing, pogoing, and movement. Bosses ramped up with more elaborate attack patterns, but upgrades (charms, masks, nail improvements) arrived alongside them, creating a smooth difficulty curve. Silksong throws that philosophy away. Double damage everywhere, even at the start: Nearly every enemy, trap, or environmental hazard deals 2 masks of damage right from the opening hours. Spikes? Two masks. A stray mob? Two masks. In HK, this design choice was reserved for late-game bosses, when players had 8–9 masks to absorb mistakes. Starting Silksong with 5 masks means you can die in 2–3 hits, often before you’ve even processed an enemy’s attack pattern. That doesn’t feel like difficulty, it feels like punishment. I've seen reviews calling it "beginning where Hollow Knight ended", and they’re not wrong. Shrinking i-frames and multi-hit punishment: Hollow Knight gave you a small window of invincibility after taking damage, letting you reposition. Silksong reduces these i-frames dramatically. As a result, many enemy attacks can hit you twice or even three times in a single animation, and when a hit is almost always double damage one mistake can cost you 4 masks, not because the enemy is well-designed, but because your invulnerability is stingy. Certain bosses can lock you into combos that drain most of your health instantly. This isn’t "tough but fair", it’s frustrating and feels like Team Cherry confused attrition with challenge. Overtuned enemies, tanky mobs: Regular enemies take far too long to kill. In HK, most mobs fell within 2–4 hits, while tougher variants might take 5–6. In Silksong, "basic" enemies often take 8-15 hits. Combined with the fact that they also hit harder and move with way more complex patterns, every random encounter drags on. i've seen other players describing regular mobs as being "on the same level as bosses, except with fewer moves" and I agree. And since enemies respawn the moment you leave and re-enter a room, backtracking or exploring is punishing instead of fun. Artificially padded bosses: Bosses themselves are well-animated and mechanically interesting, but they feel artificially extended. They almost all have multiple phases (sometimes three or more), excessive HP pools and cramped arenas. Now, this wouldn't make them so insufferable if it wasn't for the fact that they summon minions mid-fight. Those summons are sponges too, eating up space and punishing you with the same double damage as the boss itself. Instead of being a test of skill, fights become wars of attrition where one mistake late in a 5-minute battle can send you all the way back through a punishing run-back. Run-backs: Speaking of run-backs, this might be Silksong’s biggest problem. To re-attempt a boss, you’re often forced to retrace five or more rooms, filled with tanky enemies, projectile spam, and hazards, all of which can deal - you guessed it - 2 masks. HK was infamous for this, but in Silksong it’s the norm, even in Act 1. The frustration comes not from the boss itself but from the slog of getting back to it at full health. Difficulty tuned for pros, not players: The impression is that Team Cherry balanced the game around elite HK players who can hitless-clear P5, rather than the broader audience who loved Hollow Knight. In the game credits, only three playtesters are credited, likely hardcore veterans and not regular players. The result is a difficulty curve that spikes immediately instead of gradually. The result is that difficulty feels less "earned" and more "inflated." Longer fights with tanky enemies don’t reward mastery or skill, they punish mistakes with a disproportionate loss of progress. 2) Healing Management. If there’s one system that encapsulates why Silksong feels punishing instead of rewarding, it’s healing. The old system (HK): You could spend 1 soul to heal 1 mask. It was quick, flexible, and encouraged resource management. You had the freedom to choose whether to heal once, twice, or save soul for spells. Healing was a calculated risk, but one that felt fair. The new system (Silksong): Healing requires 9 hits to fill your silk spool, and you must spend the entire spool to heal 3 masks. This creates multiple problems: If you only need 1 mask, you’re forced to overheal and waste resources. If you get interrupted mid-heal, you’ve lost your entire spool, effectively ending the fight. Because everything deals 2 damage, even a successful heal doesn’t feel safe: you’re always one hit away from being back where you started (or from dying). You can’t balance healing and skills, because silk is needed for both. Realistically, you must hoard silk for healing, making tools/spells feel like traps. As it stands, healing is so punishing it actively discourages using one of the game’s core mechanics. Instead of giving you that "safe haven" moment to reset during a fight, it creates despair. 3) Core Systems and Quality of Life Silksong also undermines itself with systems that feel designed to inconvenience rather than support the player. Benches and checkpoints: Benches are too rare, often placed far from difficult stretches or bosses. Most cost beads to unlock. A few even act as "gotchas" that punish you when you’re at your weakest. Given how scarce beads are, these decisions feel cruel. Hollow Knight’s benches encouraged steady progress; Silksong’s benches make every death disproportionately punishing. This is even enforced by the economy problem, which I'll talk about later. Compass and utility slots: Just like in HK, the compass still takes up a slot. In Hollow Knight this was forgivable, it was called Wayward Compass (a nod to the joke of always needing it). In Silksong it’s just frustrating. The map system is more demanding, exploration is more punishing, and beads are scarcer, so the compass becomes effectively mandatory. That means one of your limited tool slots is always wasted on basic navigation. And insult to injury: you can’t run compass and rosary-magnet at the same time, so you’re constantly losing money to spikes and pits if you want to know where you are. Tools vs. Charms (Pins): The tool/pin system is a downgrade from HK’s charms. Charms allowed flexible builds: full glass cannon, nail-focused swordsman, or spell spammer. In Silksong, pins are tied to crests, limiting what you can combine. Most of them are underwhelming, with negligible impact on combat or movement. The only one that feels mandatory is the currency magnet pin, which automatically highlights the design issue: beads roll away when enemies die instead of staying put like Geo, so without it you’re literally bleeding money. Red tools and upkeep costs: Certain tools require shards to repair between uses. But shards are already rare, and they’re required for quests. This means you’re punished for using the very items designed to help you. Instead of feeling empowered, you hoard tools and avoid them. Sub-weapons and clunky inputs: Sub-weapons are mapped to directional + button combinations, but they share inputs with spells. In fast-paced combat, that often means you misfire—using a spell when you meant to use a tool, wasting silk and leaving yourself wide open. This layering of controls feels clunky compared to the streamlined, intuitive inputs of HK. Movement issues: Hornet’s diagonal pogo and sprinting mechanics could add depth, but they’re undermined by the game itself. Sprinting feels awkward since it requires a dash first, and sprint-jump platforming sections are unreasonably tight. The comboes you can do with attacks and sprints add a clunky feeling to the moves, and some of them are straight up detrimental. Worse, many enemy attack patterns are specifically designed to counter Hornet’s added mobility. Instead of empowering movement, the game punishes it. Flying enemies and projectile spam: Flying enemies are everywhere. They’re evasive, soak too many hits, and often spam projectiles. Combined with poorly lit areas, they slow exploration to a crawl. I often find myself skipping fights entirely, not because they’re hard, but because they’re tedious. Exploration rewards: Hollow Knight made exploration worthwhile with charms, upgrades, and meaningful Geo rocks and chests. Silksong often gives you a handful of beads: sometimes 20, half of which fall into spikes. Mask and spool fragments are rare, and most quests reward trivial amounts of currency. Entire detours, long rooms with maybe arenas or minibosses, often feel like wasted time. Boss rewards: Many bosses drop nothing at all. No beads (literally wtf???), no upgrades. Just a wall of frustration with no tangible payoff. Skillful play isn’t rewarded. 4) What Works Despite all this criticism, there is much to admire: The art, music, sound design, and atmosphere are breathtaking. Pharloom is gorgeous. Combat still feels crisp and responsive when it’s not being bogged down by overtuned numbers and clunky inputs. Bosses, while punishing, are beautifully designed. The crest system shows promise conceptually, and the diagonal pogo, once mastered, adds interesting complexity. Conclusion Silksong is not unplayable, but it is unwelcoming, punishing, and tedious in ways Hollow Knight never was. HK respected the player’s time, taught mechanics gracefully, and built difficulty through design, not raw numbers. Silksong instead starts at HK’s endgame difficulty, strips away QoL, and doubles down on punishment. If you’re a Hollow Knight diehard who craves a masochistic challenge, you may still enjoy the raw difficulty. But for most players, the combination of overtuned enemies, punishing healing, scarce resources, bad run-backs, and lackluster rewards will sour the experience. Team Cherry’s craftsmanship is undeniable, but without significant rebalancing, Silksong feels less like a worthy successor and more like a beautifully made chore. At this time, I cannot recommend the game to the average player. Me personally, I will keep playing the game even though I find that some parts are straight up bullshit. As I said the ambience and art are incredible, and that at least in part compensates for the abysmal game design. If your only response to my criticisms is “git gud” or “skill issue” then I am going to assume you cannot read above a 4th grade level and do not have the capacity to engage in meaningful conversation. With that said, I would enjoy having a discussion about this. submitted by /u/05-nery to r/Silksong [link] [comments]

Sick of magnets? Too bad, because I worked hard on this thing.
Is this sub already overloaded with magnet setups? Yes. But does 3D modeling/printing take a while to do if you can only do it in your free time outside of work? Also yes. So even though the market is already very over-saturated, I present to you all my Glass Bead Magnet Rig! I designed it to use a few simple parts that are pretty easy to find, and to utilize the hole that’s already in a bunch of 30lb horseshoes magnets. I also made the files available for free, so if you have access to a 3D printer, you can print one for yourself! I also added two different shapes of “finger perches,” one that’s flat and one that slants upward slightly, so you can create different effects/change where the “bead” gets centered on the nail. Here’s the link to the files! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:7122523 Product list: 2 coats Nailtiques Formula 2 (as base coat), 3 coats Mooncat A Galaxy Far Far Away, 1 coat Essie Gelsetter Top Coat EDIT: Thank you all for the kind and enthusiastic response! For those of you with magnets with 5mm holes (Rather than 6mm like mine), I've added a few files to the thingiverse listing linked above that can accommodate an M5 bolt and a 5mm ball bearing. 2nd EDIT: For those of you having trouble assembling the rig and/or getting it to spin correctly, I've drawn a slightly shitty diagram that should hopefully clear things up. I'm also thinking of taking another pass at the model to make it easier to assemble (and make it so you don't need any glue), but I'm not sure when I'll have time to do that. submitted by /u/ThreePartSilence to r/RedditLaqueristas [link] [comments]

Cyberpunk 2077 is a patient game's dream.
The Witcher 3 is my favorite RPG of all time. I've played it to 100% completion 3 times, including DLC, and each time on Death March too. And while Baldurs Gate 3 is a close second, I rarely play any of my characters to completion. I've never played a game that so perfectly nails both the RPG mechanics and also the hack-n-slash combat this cohesively. I was let down by the release of CB2077 as most were but after years of updates and the Phantom Liberty DLC I decided to finally give it a show despite some reservations since I heard that while the patches have fixed many of the bugs the game has some major underlying issues. It's been two weeks and 91 hours later, what the hell are these people talking about? This game is amazing. Sure, it's a step down in complexity from The Witcher 3 but it's by no means a simple game even if the combat is a little too easy for my tastes. I can't get over the awesome hacker gameplay and how immersive that experience feels. The skill tree is, much like in The Witcher 3, complex and designed to really make you think about where you out your skill points as it invites the player to really think about their build and progression in ways most RPGs don't. Then there is the open world yourself. You can really tell this is from the same studio as The Witcher 3 as both worlds feel genuinely lived in and real. The music, too, is a step up from most games. It feels like they are all written mixed with this maximalist style that feels like every track was produced by Death Grips, it truly does feel like music from the future in an effortless and organic way, the sounds are all very familiar but the presentation is intense and really grounds you in the world of the game. I am absolutely hooked, if I have any complaint it's the nagging feeling that there is a lot left on the table for a follow-up in terms of meaningful, world-altering choices. I really can't wait to see this one till the end, so glad I picked this up. submitted by /u/OpenUpYerMurderEyes to r/patientgamers [link] [comments]
