~1 year of VERY consistent skin care routine. More details and my exact protocol⬇️ [B&A]
originally posted this in a hair loss community, but some people said I should share in skin care communities too. products: -neutrogena hydro boost cleanser -la roche posay triple repair moisturizer 2x/day (mix w a little water so it absorbs better) -anessa perfect uv sunscreen skincare milk (import the japanese version - US formula isn’t the same). i’ve been very religious about this. i don’t step outside or even sit near a window without sunscreen -used .05% tretinoin with good results, switched to accutane ~4.5 months ago. probably the bulk of my results. protocol: -cleanser once in the morning and once at night -moisturize after cleansing -sunscreen 1x AM. additional as needed. what i’ve learned: just keep it simple. a retinoid, some moisturizer, cleanser and sunscreen. don’t sleep on the sunscreen. consistency matters more than anything. never ever skip a day - that is how you separate yourself from others! submitted by /u/InformalSlip4704 to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

Reddit's Favorite Skincare Routines
I pulled mention data from 7 skincare subreddits (r/SkincareAddiction, r/AsianBeauty, r/tretinoin, r/30PlusSkinCare, r/acne, r/Rosacea, r/scacjdiscussion) to build a "starter kit" for each major skin type: the most recommended cleanser, moisturizer, serum, and SPF per skin type, based on what the community actually talks about positively. One methodology note upfront: "recommended" here includes both positive and neutral mentions. If someone says "I use this daily" or "it's my HG" without elaborating, that's still a vote. I excluded purely negative mentions. Only products where 50%+ of mentions were positive or neutral made the cut. Oily skin lands on a surprisingly solid kit. CeraVe Foaming is the runaway cleanser pick at 90% recommended across 70 mentions. It comes up constantly in oily/acne routines and almost never negatively. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is the moisturizer, which makes sense: oily skin folks tend to gravitate toward lightweight gel textures, and this one has a big presence in the data. The Ordinary Niacinamide 10% + Zinc is the serum at 86% across 50 mentions, one of the more data-rich slots in the whole analysis. EltaMD UV Clear rounds out the SPF at 81%. Dry skin is where the numbers get genuinely impressive. CeraVe Hydrating Facial Cleanser hits 96% recommended across 119 mentions, which is a remarkably clean signal for a product with that many data points. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream takes moisturizer at 89% across 189 mentions, the highest raw mention count in the entire dataset. The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 comes in for serum, and Beauty of Joseon Relief Sun takes SPF with a perfect 100%, though that's only 7 mentions so take it with some context. Combination skin is basically a CeraVe showcase. The Foaming Cleanser hits an almost absurd 97% recommended across 34 mentions. 33 out of 34 mentions were positive or neutral. PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion takes moisturizer at 77%, Skin1004 Madagascar Centella Ampoule comes in for serum at 86%, and EltaMD UV Clear closes out SPF at 69%. Sensitive skin has the most interesting individual product story in the dataset. La Roche-Posay Cicaplast Balm B5+ has 320 recommended mentions out of 369 total. That's the highest volume of any product in this analysis, across any skin type or category, and it's 87% positive. It dominates the sensitive moisturizer slot by a wide margin. Vanicream Gentle Facial Cleanser leads cleanser at 91% across 232 mentions, Skin1004 Centella takes serum at 77%, and EltaMD UV Clear is SPF at 83%. The cross-skin-type story: EltaMD UV Clear shows up in three out of four SPF slots (oily, combination, sensitive), which is pretty remarkable for a $40+ sunscreen. And CeraVe products appear in six out of sixteen total slots. The brand has a disproportionate grip on Reddit recommendations, which is either a signal of genuine quality or a very successful community presence, probably both. What's in your actual starter kit? Curious whether these match what people are using. submitted by /u/I_just_cant855 to r/SkinbarrierLovers [link] [comments]

Does anyone else feel like simpler skincare routines actually work better?
I feel like most skincare advice is overcomplicated. I’ve been sticking to a really simple routine recently and focusing more on consistency rather than adding loads of products. Biggest difference I noticed: - smoother skin texture - more even appearance - less irritation Nothing dramatic, just healthier looking skin overall. Never really worn makeup so I could not say I like it or not but I likely if I did only would like something mild like eyeliner, maybe, because I probably would not like the physical feeling of stuff on my face and having to be conscious of it being messed up. I think the money and time is better spent on good skincare products and routine.

The SKIN & The ROUTINE behind it. 🎀
Here’s my no-nonsense SKINCARE ROUTINE - I have combo skin. When I started applying moisturizer regularly (I used to skip it earlier because of oily T zone - a big mistake), that too on a SLIGHTLY WET FACE (pls trust me on this), my skin texture changed drastically. It felt smoother and a lot less irritated. Also, choosing a good moisturizer is non negotiable. Aveeno is my absolute fav because it is fragrance free, lighweight and even 2-3 layers of this one doesn’t clog pores. Coming to another imp change - applyig sunscreen daily (even indoors). BOJ has worked so well for me that it actually improved my skin over time. I use BOJ AQUA in summers and BOJ RICE in winters. Pls DO NOT SKIP SUNSCREEN. MY AM products - Gentle cleanser Boj sunscreen My PM products - Gentle cleanser/foaming face wash/sometimes both ( i use cleanser to massage well so that dirt/sunscreen dissolves) Aveeno moisturizer (on a slightly wet face) LRP (twice a week) Also, PLEASE HAVE FRUITS/SEEDS regularly. Can a super simple skincare routine actually be enough?
I used to follow all the skincare trends - double cleansing, exfoliants, actives, vitamin C, retinol etc. It completely ruined my skin. Barrier damage, breakouts, the whole nightmare 😫 Now my routine is just: - water (morning) - micellar water (if I wear makeup/spf) - gentle cleanser - moisturizer That's it. And honestly? My skin has never been calmer. Is anyone else doing the minimalist thing? Or am I just lucky this works for me? submitted by /u/luvlyemmaa to r/beauty [link] [comments]

AITA for arguing with my husband about my skincare routine?
I am NOT the Original Poster. That is Original-Culture-701. She posted in r/AmItheAsshole Do NOT comment on Original Posts. Latest update is 7 days old. Mood Spoiler: communication helps Original Post: March 26, 2025 I (29F) have been taking better care of my skin for the last 5 years. I have been using retinol, moisturizer and sunscreen for my face all year round and have been cleansing my face when I shower. The only person I have taken seriously online about skincare is a licensed dermatologist based in the US, I have been watching her youtube content here and there. I also visited an actual dermatologist 4 years ago and she confirmed I should use the exact same routine I am using already for my age at the time, so that is an extra confirmation the YT dermatologist probably knows what she's talking about. These past few months I have been a little worried about aging more than usual since I am turning 30 in a few months, so I ended up buying a face roller/massager, and a couple of days ago I also bought a red light device for my face. That and the roller are probably the only things I have not heard that a dermatologist recommends them but I haven't looked that into it. I just know people that have used it and have seen actual results from it. When I opened the red light device package, my husband (33M) was near me and asked me what it is, so I explained to him, then he asked me how much it cost and I said 50 bucks. He then said, word for word, "sometimes I feel sorry for you". I got very hurt by that statement but it was pretty late and he was working remotely and was very overwhelmed with work, so I thought I would bring it up another time. Fast forward to today, we had an argument about it. I basically told him what he said really hurt my feelings and I thought it was a very mean thing to say to someone and he apologized but said he was sad for a while after he saw that I bought the red light device. He said he thinks I'm gorgeous and I don't need that stuff, that the marketing of beauty products has worked well on me and that he doesn't like to see me be a victim. He also added that he is worried about the fact that if I am spending that much money on beauty products now what am I gonna do when I am 40? I replied when we get there and even if that ever happens we can talk about it - he said it's already happening. I was honestly getting pretty worked up at that point, even if some of his points were valid, the way he was going at it and the words he was using felt like an attack to me and like he had zero understanding about it. I was trying to explain to me him that yes it is true I am feeling insecure about aging but I am working on it already in therapy, there is not more I can say about it right now really, because it genuinely is something that's in progress. Also I was trying to explain to him that skincare is making me feel good about myself. He said that he does understand and if he didn't he would have said something all these years, I said that to me it sounds like he was just judging me in his head and kept it quiet all this time. He stormed out. He also mentioned he thinks I am obsessed with skincare, which I disagree. So, AITA? Some of OOP's Comments: Commenter: INFO: Are your purchases within a reasonable budget? Just checking this isn't a financial issue. I love skin care and your routine doesn't sound excessive to me. If you use retinol (hopefully only at night, right?) you need to wear sunscreen every day. And moisturizer is pretty normal, as is daily face washing. Is it possible your husband is concerned because maybe he's sensing that you're doing this out of a fear of aging or looking old, rather than it's a nice self-care routine? Your line "what am I gonna do when I am 40? I replied when we get there and even if that ever happens we can talk about it" concerns me. Do you fear that aging means your life is nearly over? OOP: Oh gosh no! I mean if we ever get to the point where I am spending an excessive amount of money then we can talk about it, so even if we get to that point at all. I just did a rough estimate and it’s about 60 Canadian dollars a month for moisturizer, retinol and sunscreen Commenter: Wait- that’s it? I’m around your age, and that’s pretty much what every woman I know does (I do vitamin C instead of retinol). That’s a very reasonable and actually minimalistic routine. I was wondering if maybe your husband had a point, but now the whole speech seems a little self righteous. That being said, as obnoxious of a thing to say as it is, I understand the “I feel sorry for you” comment. I’m often jealous of men. They don’t grow up with loved ones constantly commenting on their skin and hair and weight and clothing. They don’t freak out as much about aging because older men are not invisible the same way older women can be. Women are socialized to care so much about these things in a way men don’t, and sometimes it’s a burden. But I’m still happy to use sunscreen and moisturizer and to have really nice soft skin. Frankly I think a lot of men like it too when they start- often when their wives share their products with them lol. OOP: I 100% see your point. When he said “sometimes I feel sorry for you” it felt like a punch in the stomach but unfortunately I understood exactly why he said it and what he really meant. Here’s the thing though - saying “it makes me feel sad that you feel like you might need to do this” would have been a thousand times better, and the idea behind it isn’t that different. One is condescending, the other one isn’t. OOP clarifies: Yeah, I was worried I might be the asshole here because I got defensive Commenter: [...] you are worried MORE about aging, and that is NOT healthy. I'm telling you that's not healthy. We all age the same, time passes at the same rate for everyone. You're equating time passing, aging, with your skin health and that's silly. OOP: Yeah I don’t think it’s good for me either, I do think it will get better as I continue therapy though Commenter: YTA. But it is sad to be that obsessed with aging in your twenties. You better have lots of $$$ because if this is what you are doing in your 20s I can’t imagine what you will be doing in your sixties. OOP: The whole point of starting this early is so you don’t have to do excessive things later Commenter: ive had eczema my whole life, and finally got it treated well enough to where I could develop a skincare routine, and one thing I'm not seeing anyone in the comments saying is how good it feels to have nice, smooth, soft skin. skincare is a very rewarding pursuit, it is therapeutic and routines of any kind are important for mental health and well being. You're not just taking care of your skin, you're practicing self-love. OOP: That is exactly how it feels, also after a stressful day it relaxes me so much to just take care of me in that way. Top Comment: nuttyroseamaranth: I don't know. You seem very very defensive about your purchases. I can see why he might be sad. You're not even 30 why are you so concerned with aging already? What exactly are you so afraid of? Maybe it's just my perspective here but some of the most beautiful women that I look up to are wrinkled and more beautiful for it. Betty White, Meryl Streep, Katherine Hepburn, Dame Maggie Smith, Jenny Agutter, Miriam margulies ( I never can seem to spell her name right). It's good to take care of your skin, if it makes you feel good in some way, that's not bad. But why are you concerned about aging at not even 30? The average lifespan of a human woman is 80 years old. That means you aren't even halfway through. If you are already terrified of wrinkling and aging before you're even 30, your husband is right to be concerned at how much more fear you're going to be living with by the time you actually see real wrinkles. There's really not much you can do to avoid the appearance of aging as you age. If you want to see how much you'll really age, look at your mother and your grandmother. If you wear sunscreen more regularly than they do, you'll age more slowly than they have, and get less sunspots than your grandmother probably has, but otherwise they are your future and you can't avoid them. The only thing that you can really do is try to make it confused with more left lines than scowl lines. Which doesn't mean to avoid sadness it means to court things that bring you Joy and make you feel accomplished. OOP: (downvoted) I honestly grew up in a patriarchal country. Even though I’m in Canada now, I did feel like OTHER PEOPLE, NOT ME, after a certain age believe women expire and that they are generally defined by their looks, I think that is a pretty big reason I’m worried because as much as I disagree my reptile brain still thinks I need to forever look young 😂 Edit: please don’t come for me, I think people downvote me because they think I also have those beliefs. Once again, I DO NOT. One more from OOP: I do not believe that women rot when they turn 30, I think my main worry is other people might treat me differently because they believe that, which I have overcome to an extent but still is scary OOP's post is voted Not Enough Info Update Post: March 28, 2025 (2 days later) So, I talked with my husband yesterday. The issue got resolved pretty quickly, we both apologized and shared our feelings and that was it. I admitted the last two purchases I did were impulsive and I definitely don’t need them (not that I need the other creams I use besides SPF but that’s another conversation), and he admitted he could have phrased his concerns in a kinder manner and he sees how they can come off condescending even if that wasn’t his intention. I also mentioned I did a Reddit post about this and we were able to laugh about it! Some comments got me thinking though. A few women said I am perpetuating misogynistic beliefs and it can affect negatively other women, and the fact that I am using creams proves it, I am still on the fence about this because 4/6 of the things I use are dermatologist recommendendations for my age group, but I do admit there is some residual trauma there from growing up in a misogynistic environment which I am working hard to get rid of 100%. To those of you who were kind and still expressed your honest opinion, thank you! Appreciate y’all. Off to use my new red light device. /s Cheers! Some of OOP's Comments: Top Comment: Wandering-me-123: I think it’s fine to want to look a certain way, as long as it’s for you, you don’t expect others to do it, and your nice to yourself as you age or your skin changes. In my 30s, I’ve developed a manageable skin care routine, but I find it fun to try new products. I have a budget that applies to this spending (and other personal spending), and it makes me happy! I share tips with friends. I follow and watch dermatologist on IG. I don’t impose this on others or expect myself or ppl around me to never age or change. All to say, I think there’s a difference between perpetuating misogynistic beliefs, and wanting to feel good OOP: 100% agree OOP clarifies: Just to be absolutely clear, I prioritized advice from a dermatologist I met with and got advice from, Dr Drays channel is something I look more casually Commenter: If you’re worrying about aging at 30, wait until you’re almost 50! Honestly it hit me hard and kind of overnight. Not just from looking at my own aging face (I’ve always looked younger than my age) but at other women and men in my age range. There is absolutely nothing wrong with taking care of your skin, especially with what is on offer now. It’s no different to a healthy diet and exercise. Your skin is an organ that needs to be taken care of so you don’t end up later in life with skin like a ball sack. And women need to stop tearing down other women, we have enough shit to deal with without getting it from each other 🙄 OOP: There is something really beautiful my therapist told me: “there is some grief in aging, and that’s okay. People that go through medical procedures to look young forever, never get to process that grief.” And it was such a lightbulb moment. I think I am in that phase, of still processing that grief, and doing everything in my power to embrace this new part of my life, even if it’s just entering my 30s for now. submitted by /u/LucyAriaRose to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

Skincare routine that I’ve curated throughout the years
Current Skincare routine I’ve curated throughout the years!! Here is my entire skincare routine that I’ve curated over the past 3 years. As a college student it took me quite a while before I could have a fixed routine that I can just refill/swap out and I’m so thankful that I was able to reach this point because it really helped heal my skin from all the acne i had throughout my highschool years. Let me break it down: [Detailed reviews in pic] Skin type: dry with flakiness around nose and mouth; prone to hormonal acne (i have pcos) and fungal acne (i have sensitivity to certain ingredients but mostly i get it with dust (?) or idk if it’s actually a trigger of my skin asthma). I live in the ph so the weather is humid but my skin dries up so fast when I’m exposed to aircon Morning routine: Oxecure facial wash - i only wash quickly around my face to keep it clean from whatever dirt got on it while i was sleeping, being careful i don’t strip my face too dry in the morning. Cezanne high moist - it’s in a laneige bottle cuz it’s easier to spray 😅 (i used to love the laneige and purchased it twice but i found out they’re not bds safe >< Night routine: Hado labo cleansing oil - i do 1 pump for daily makeup and 2 pumps if i have heavier makeup on. Oxecure facial wash - for double cleansing. Cezanne high moist - to lock in moisture. Mediheal Phyto enzyme exfoliating pads - I use this every MWFSun. I use it similarly with my bifida pad (use one pad and let it sit for 30 secs on each cheek then flip to the rough side and swipe my face). I let it fully absorb after, if i’m a little red i’ll spray some of the cezanne again, if not i’ll continue with my next step Skinoren azelaic acid - i only use this every MWFSun and apply a peasize amount nothing more too avoid irritation. Iope milk - i apply this cuz my skin needs extra moisture and layer it before moisturizer so i don’t have to do a thick layer. Illiyoon moisturizer - this is what i use to seal the moisture as a last step. This is almost on it’s last leg tho so i’ll be using the carecera one for the mean time once it finishes since it’s price went up 😭. I try to keep my skincare as simple as possible cuz i found that there are a lot of ingredients that my skin doesn’t like [i.e tea tree, aloe vera, hyalauronic acid in high concentrations (hated the hado labo lotions), niacinamide (i used to love this but i now get irritated if it’s in high dosages)] so I really read the ingredients list and make sure the products are good for me. I also research a lot!! Before i buy something I go through so many reviews and posts to make sure I’m gonna like it cuz nothing hurts more than spending on something you regret aND ruined your skin. Also the products I use are very affordable most of them are less than $10 and if they’re $10+ they are worth it (mixsoon toner pads technically have 240 pads for $20 which is $0.08 per pad unlike mediheal which has 100 pads for $18 making it $0.15 per pad (i like this toner pad too tho)). I’ve also used items throughout the years i didn’t like, did nothing for me, and even ruined my skin (reviews also in pic) i also have some faves that are out of my rotation cuz even if i see a product i wanna try i won’t buy it till the one i currently have is running out. So these products on this post are a fruit of years of extensive trial and error that makes me finally feel confident in my skin (i still have a few break skin acne scars tho but that’s cuz i didn’t listen to my dad and picked on my pimples 😭). Also a tip, i try to refill my skincare/try new skincare when there’s a big sale (half year or end of the year) since most of my skincare lasts me 6 months 🤩 I’m still looking for a replacement for my iope milk and a serum (moisturizing & texture) i’d love to know your recommendations!! this is cross posted on @/beautytalkph submitted by /u/haeitsrin to r/AsianBeauty [link] [comments]

A skin care routine that one can realistically do daily
Hello, lovelies. I think this post may come across as a bit of a rant as well as a request. I am 25F, recently started to notice the fine lines and wrinkles (don't drink or smoke, but an anxious personality type and a new immigrant so lots of stress) that I guess have decided to make an early arrival. I am not terribly troubled by them, but everyone is a little insecure about aging early. I tried to look up a lot of skin care routines online and I've noticed that they are a. stupidly expensive, and b. very time consuming. I don't have two hours to put various things on my face, and don't have an enormous bathroom mirror to watch myself do it, either. I don't expect beauty bloggers to make videos that everyday women can relate to (after all, they need to advertise products), but good god, we could all benefit from some basic skin care and cleansing routines that don't involve products that deplete our bank accounts. So without much more ado, a sister could use some diy skincare advice from all of you wonderful women. I'm sure it will benefit everyone! submitted by /u/Wildeanethics to r/TheGirlSurvivalGuide [link] [comments]
