I just wish this was already over and done with. I’d rather it had happened on Wednesday and I knew one way or another than sit here for days letting my anxiety spiral. This waiting is the worst part of it. I really do think being left in limbo like this is inhumane.

I am living alone for the first time in a while and went on a first date. I suggested he come over to swim at my place, and then we could go out for drinks. However, he told me as I was coming back from work that he had brought his bags. I guess I thought he would leave after, but he didn't. Anyway, the next morning we had a very good time, it was a lot of fun, but I had to leave for work this morning, and he is still at my place. I left at 8:30. It is now 9:30. I messaged him to please turn off the AC before he leaves and to say I had a great time. However, he has not answered at what point I should freak out and believe he is robbing me. Or do people think he just genuinely slept in that long? Maybe I can drive home at lunch and see. Anyways any advice would be great, I will also accept people telling me how stupid I am. I at least took my passport, cards, money, and electronics with me to work, so the important stuff is safe. Edit: I feel like I should clarify he is solo travelling across Asia and thats why he had bags. Update: Didn't expect such varied advice. Um, anyway, it's enough for me to be spiralling, so I called him, and there was no response. I then texted him, "you alive" as one person suggested. Idk, maybe some people sleep in until 10:30, and we were up until like 3 am, but I don't think it's normal to sleep in that long at someone else's house. He just called me back and said that he just woke up, and to be fair, it sounded like it. I am still going to go back at lunch, but he said he would leave soon. Update 2: I got home and he literally made the bed and did dishes so kind. I think I was just hungover and anxious because of it. But I am very much safe and he is gone. I (33F) and my fiancé (35M) were invited on a vacation by my sister (42F). We were told that her and her husband would pay for the rental property which was somewhere we had stayed before on a previous trip. Originally I told her I wasn't sure because even though this trip is still months away my fiancé just started a new job and we didn't know if he would be able to get time off. I asked her for the exact days and I told her we wanted to come but weren't sure and I would let her know. I then received a text from her 2 days later telling me the house was booked and that her and her husband talked and they wanted us to pay $400. This threw me considering they said said originally they would pay for the rental. I found out that $400 was 1/3 of the rentals price. But they said that they were going to be cooking at the rental property so they would cover all the food for the week. She also at this point informed me that they changed the dates by a few days. I told her that my fiancé had already requested off based off the dates she had originally given me and I wasn't sure he would be able to change them and told her he would talk to his boss the next day he worked. My fiancé was able to get everything settled with his work and I told my sister we were on board with going and even agreed to pay the $400. However, the issue comes in when she told me that she allowed her three kids (18,14,12) to pick which rooms they wanted and that only two were left. One which had twin sized bed and one with a bunk bed. I told her that I didn't think it was fair that me and my fiancé were paying 1/3 of the rental fee but would have to sleep separately even if it was in the same room while two of her children were sleeping in a king and queen sized bed. She suggested that we can either push two twins together or we could sleep on a blow up mattress but that she isn't going back on allowing her kids to pick rooms. I don't know if I would be in the wrong to back out of going because of this or what I should do. My fiancé is suggesting we go on a different trip just him and me but with prices being so high for everything I don't know if we could come up with the extra money in time. Would I be overreacting if I backed out of the trip. EDIT- the $400 was what they asked us to pay- we have more than that for another trip but we were planning to go during peak season so prices are a bit higher than normal and we weren't sure if it was worth it to spend more money than we had too. UPDATE: So a few people were asking for an update so here it is: Firstly I want to thank everyone for posting . I really struggled on how to feel about the situation and what we should do. So I appreciate everyone advice. Anyway, so the update- there was a chance that her middle child was going to bring a friend in which case they would have to take the room with the two twin beds. I texted her to see if the friend had decided to come or not and she replied to me that either way they decided they weren't going to make their child give up the room and if the friend decided to come they were going to take the blow up mattress and put it in the room. she said that if we decided not to come because of it then she understood but basically this is how it is and she isn't changing her mind. - I texted her telling her that it didn't make sense for us to go on and pay for a vacation where we weren't going to be comfortable. so we aren't going. the whole situation hurt my feelings the fact that they expected us to pay 1/3 of the rental but didn't talk to me or consider us whatsoever when it came to the rooms feels disrespectful and is honestly insane. I just sent her that message so I haven't heard back but I don't see anything changing. My fiancé and I are now looking into taking a separate vacation. We did have plans for another bigger trip with them to Asia in a little over a year(thankfully nothing has yet been booked for that trip) but because of this we are leaning towards going on our own. 2nd update: So shortly after sending her the previous message she replied back that it was being taken out of context and that they booked the house before we were even invited. That the $400 was to offset cost not to have equal say in the trip. and that if we don't come then fine but that it wasn't fair to act like they were being disrespectful or that we weren't considered. I reminded her that the house was book after we were invited and the reason I couldn't give her an answer sooner was that she changed the dates after my fiancé had already requested off the originally dates but that I told her we were in as long as he could change the request dates. I told her that the fact that she expected us to pay towards the rental but not have a say was in fact disrespectful. She then sent me a long message going off about how this was THEIR vacation and that we were just invited to come along that this wasn't a trip we all planned together and she was basically doing us a favor and that they were being fair and that we just didnt like the options but that they had been more than accommodating and they weren't being disrespectful. they said since we think they are being so disrespectful that its probably best we don't come. (we had already backed out at that point so whatever). At that point I was over it. I thanked her for making it clear that it was THEIR trip and left it at that. My fiancé and I decided we are going to be taking our own Asia trip and we decided to not go anywhere this year so that we can put more towards the Asia trip next spring going for an extra week longer than planned. We are bummed we aren't going anywhere this year but as the state they are going to is one I lived in for a few years and both of us have been to many time so it's not a huge deal that we are no longer going. As of right now I don't know what's happening with my sister and I. A lot of you commented that it seems like I don't really stick up for myself and that is true especially with my family I am currently in therapy working on this and have made some progress over the last year but it is a process. Im not really sure what will happen with my sister. we aren't really talking and probably won't for awhile. Alright, hear me out. I know how this sounds. But I've been pulling threads on the Aston Martin situation and the whole thing has started to unravel in a direction nobody seems to be talking about. Everyone is pointing and laughing right now. Mirrors falling off. "Permanent nerve damage." Two batteries left, zero spares. Ranked behind Cadillac. The whole grid has written them off before a single green flag. And I think that's exactly the point. What everyone seems to be missing about the 2026 regs The 350kW MGU-K 50/50 split doesn't work. Not just for Aston. For anyone. Italian journalist Giuliano Duchessa reported that every manufacturer is failing to recover enough energy to deploy full electric power for a complete lap. Drivers privately told Domenicali during Bahrain that the cars are undriveable in this regard. The FIA asked teams to run reduced power in the final test days, cuts of 50kW, 100kW, and 150kW, because they already know the regulations as written are broken. There is already a Plan B being discussed at the F1 Commission: reduce max electric power by 15-30%. A Mercedes-powered team suggested 300kW as a compromise. Others want it even lower. Cars would be 1.5 to 2.5 seconds slower, but actually functional. Horner called these Frankenstein cars before anyone else and it turns out he wasn't wrong. So we know a regulation change is coming. Newey, the man who sat next to the guy who coined "Frankenstein cars" for years, who has spent four decades making tight packaging the foundation of every championship-winning car he's ever built, who started four months late in the wind tunnel... this man somehow just accidentally designed a car whose only weakness is the exact electrical specification that's about to get nerfed? Then he goes to an F1 Commission meeting and tells everyone, in private, among the competitors who would vote on rule changes, that Honda can't even hit 250kW recovery. He is literally building the FIA's case for them. That's not a man asking for sympathy. That's a man making sure the evidence is on the record. Methinks the tractor doth protest too much Honda is one of the largest engineering corporations on earth. They manufacture batteries at an industrial scale. They've known about this return to F1 since 2023. And they showed up to Melbourne with exactly enough batteries for two cars and no spares? No timeline for new stock? That's either the most embarrassing supply chain failure in modern motorsport or somebody decided that's all they needed for the show. Vibrations are the perfect convenient problem. They're dramatic (bits literally falling off the car, you can't buy better theatre). They're mechanically plausible. They explain every kind of poor performance simultaneously. And critically, they're fixable overnight with a software map change or different engine mounts whenever you're ready for the "eureka" moment. Compare that to faking an aero deficit, which would require actually building a worse car. And Newey's out here doing press conferences with the energy of a man reading a hostage statement. "I feel powerless." Adrian. Mate. You are arguably the most powerful engineer in the history of this sport. You are not powerless. You are putting on a clinic. The cast is too perfect Fernando Alonso. 44 years old. The most politically ruthless driver this sport has ever produced. The man who weaponized "GP2 ENGINE" into a meme. Who coined El Plan at Alpine and turned it into a global phenomenon. Who has driven uncompetitive machinery for a decade specifically to be in position for this regulation reset. This man is selling "my fingers are going numb" with absolute conviction. But then someone actually presses him on the pain and he says "it's not painful, it's not difficult to control the car." And THEN he drops this: "If we were fighting for the win, we can do three hours in the car." I need you to read that quote again. He told everyone, out loud, to their faces, that the pain is theatrical if the stakes are right. The adrenaline overcomes the nerve damage apparently. Fernando "my hands are falling off but actually they're completely fine if there's a trophy" Alonso delivered the most Fernando Alonso quote of all time and everyone wrote a sympathy piece instead of raising an eyebrow. And then there's Lance. Bless him. The man whose response to allegedly being electrocuted by his own car and being ranked behind a brand new American outfit was, and I quote: "sometimes you get in the car and it's magic, and some seasons you get in the car and it's s**t." That's not a driver in crisis. That's a man who knows the second act is coming and can barely keep a straight face about it. Lawrence was stomping around Bahrain doing his best furious billionaire performance while his son shrugged and essentially said "lol whatever." Montoya, who actually worked with Newey, said before testing even finished: "Knowing Adrian, he is going to wait in Melbourne to run the package. Adrian is not going to run anything in the test." And Bottas just picked Alonso and Stroll as his title favourites "as a joke." Lot of jokes flying around for a team that's supposedly dead in the water. The payoff FIA reduces electric power to 300kW or lower. Every other team is stuck with oversized, overweight battery packaging designed for 350kW, baked into homologated power units they can't fundamentally redesign. Meanwhile Newey's tight, aero-optimized chassis, the one that "couldn't handle" full electric deployment, suddenly doesn't need to. The weakness that never really existed becomes the advantage nobody saw coming. Aston Martin "miraculously solves" the vibration issue a week or two after the reg change. Turns out all they needed was a revised engine mount and a software update. Remarkable timing. Newey's chassis, which he already rates as potentially fifth-best with a broken engine, comes alive. Fernando discovers his hands work perfectly fine. By Silverstone they're scoring points consistently. By Spa they're sniffing podiums. By Suzuka, Honda's home race, which they very specifically named as their target deadline, they're competitive. And every team principal who spent the first five races laughing at the Aston Martin garage realizes they've been played by a 44-year-old Spaniard who built a career on making people underestimate him and a 67-year-old engineer who has never once in his life designed a bad car by accident. TL;DR: Newey designed for regulations he knew were coming, not the ones on paper. The vibrations are theatre to accelerate the FIA's hand. Honda's "battery crisis" is the most expensive bluff in motorsport history. El Plan was never about patience. It was about making the entire grid think you're dead while you're building the coffin they'll lie in. Bottas picked Alonso and Stroll as his title favourites as a joke. He wasn't joking. throw away account cause i don’t want my roommate to see this since i was a teenager i've always slept naked. i always get too hot at night and its just generally way more comfortable for me to sleep that way. whenever i leave my room i'm always dressed, or at the very least have shorts or something on if i'm going to/from the shower. my roommate knows this and up to this point has had no problem with it and we always knock on each others doors anyway to be polite. the issue started when he brought over his girlfriend to stay a couple nights. we all get along pretty well and have all hung out a few times before, but this was the first time she had come over and spent the night. we had all gone out drinking and got home pretty late so once we all walked in we just went straight to sleep. i, of course, went to bed with my usual routine of getting naked and hopping in bed. well, sometime during the night my roommate's girlfriend needed to use the bathroom, but she didn't know which room it was. my room and the bathroom are right next to each other and she opened my door by mistake. i have a vague memory of her opening my door, but i was half asleep and when she closed it i went right back to sleep. the next morning i woke up and my roommate and his girlfriend were upset with me because when she walked in she saw everything and she was mad i would sleep naked when a guest was over in the first place. they both said i need to start wearing clothes to sleep since my roommate's girlfriend is gonna probably be sleeping over more often and it makes her uncomfortable. my argument was that i'm in my own private space away from them and that while i understand it was a mistake, it's still her fault that she walked in on me sleeping. its been a few days and my roommate still won't let it go. i still sleep naked, and now once on purpose he's walked in on me sleeping just to see if i was naked or not. i don't really care about him seeing me naked cause we've seen each other naked before, but this is getting really out of hand. i don't think i should have to wear clothes to sleep just because it makes his girlfriend uncomfortable even though i'm in my own private room. tl;dr my roommate's girlfriend walked in on me sleeping naked in my own room and now they both want me to start wearing clothes to sleep edit: to everyone saying i should lock my door or add a lock, i would really like to. unfortunately the place we're staying at doesn't want us to change the door handles or anything so i can't do that. however i am currently looking into ways to stop my door from opening that isn't like a barricade or that drills into the door/wall update: wow, really didn't expect this to blow up like this but thank you all for the feedback. a lot of you recommended a doorstopper cause they're super cheap and easy to use and that's what i've ended up going with so thank you all who recommended them to me. okay, so i've had a talk with my roommate and brought up some of the points y'all made. for starters, i brought up how its hypocritical to ask me to not sleep naked since they are most definitely naked when they're having sex in the same home as me and he said that was different since they're not sleeping that way and usually hang something on the doorhandle. i also brought up the point that now she knows which door leads to the bathroom so it shouldn't happen again whenever she spends the night, and he said that it still makes her uncomfortable? i guess she thinks i'm just gonna come out of my room at night swinging my junk around? i suggested that he only spends the night at her place if it makes her so uncomfortable but he literally just said it was easier for them to sleep here instead (no idea how that could be if i make her so uncomfortable). so in the end i basically said i'm still gonna sleep naked, i'm putting a doorstop in my room to make sure it doesn't happen again, and if they're still not satisfied then they're just gonna have to deal with it. i think he's gonna give up on it, talk to his girlfriend, and we're gonna go back to normal. i didn't really talk about him walking in cause again, i don't really care if i'm seen naked. i know that's kinda rare, but i'm super comfortable in my own skin and its really his fault if he doesn't wanna see me naked and walks in on me sleeping. i'll continue to update as this goes on. side note: to the people saying his girlfriend "wants" me or something, i'm rocking an average 5.5 inches so i'm not all that impressive. not only that, i'm pretty sure i wasn't hard and i'm a grower, so it was even less impressive. thank you all for thinking i was packing though. submitted by /u/Outrageous-Ad-4008 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]
