Intervened in a near-drowning and feel weird
On Friday I took my daughter to the city pool to meet up with our friends. My friend and I set our deck chairs near the pool steps and we were watching our kids swim (I don’t like swimming in that pool because it’s so warm, it’s like human soup.) So we’re sitting there and we notice a toddler toddle towards the steps from the direction of the splash pad. He was maybe 15-18 months old, I’d guess. We noticed him because he had on a regular diaper instead of a swim diaper, and it was awkwardly soggy, the way regular diapers get. And we were like “well that’s against the rules” because we’re gossipy bitches. I guess we subconsciously assumed an adult was following. Anyway, I looked away for a moment and when I looked back, the kid had entered the pool, gone down the stairs, and was fully underwater. He was flailing and his mouth was open. I had a split second where I looked around like “is this happening?” The next thing I knew I was in the pool in my clothes, grabbing him. He didn’t cry or cough and he seemed fine, and he let me hold him. It took me shouting LIFEGUARD twice before one of the two lifeguards on duty noticed me; she had been pacing up and down the pool deck near the stairs and her back had been to the kid. The lifeguard in the chair hadn’t noticed. It’s a massive pool, by the way, and full of kids. The lifeguard I shouted to seemed confused at first, like “why is this wet, clothed, hysterical woman lowkey suggesting I didn’t do my job.” I wasn’t too accusatory; I was just like, He was underwater? He is a baby??! At this point the kid’s mom finally comes over from the other side of the pool complex. I told her her kid was fully underwater and I grabbed him, and she was like “thank you.” She didn’t seem at all freaked out. Now she could have been embarrassed. Or she was confused, like “this waterlogged woman is swearing my son nearly drowned, but he is clearly a calm and normal child who happens to be head-to-toe wet.” Or she’s criminally negligent. Idk! The lifeguard went to get the head lifeguard, who was very nice and checked the kid over and thanked me. The mom and the kid went back to the splash pad. And that was that. It was just…weird. I don’t know how long it would have taken the standing lifeguard to loop back and notice. I don’t know if that mom knows how close she came to being a statistic. I am hysterical about water safety— this is coastal SoCal; we live at the beach and pool but I respect the water as the death trap it is. Just— watch your kids. Never turn your back. Children drown without a sound. If a pool is understaffed, they’re still going to let you in, and your responsibility just becomes greater. AITAH for wanting the neighbor kids to stop asking for snacks?
Ever since we moved into our neighborhood, my house has become the main hangout spot for the neighborhood kids. Normally I wouldn't mind, but I'm a single mom with three kids, and I work and attend school from home. Its making it really hard to focus when I have my own kids plus several other children constantly running in and out, asking for everything under the sun. The biggest problem is the snack situation. The first few times it was fine but now its become the expectation every day. The moment they see my kids eating or drinking anything they automatically assume they get one too. I simply cant afford to be feeding 3+ extra kids a day. I don't make barley enough to fee my family of four let alone extra kids that aren't my responsibility. The parents have never came and introduced themselves, they let the kids roam around freely all day long and they're all 6-10 years old. I'm working form home, doing my online schooling and essentially providing free child care all day long to top it off which is making things almost impossible and really starting to ware on me. I feel taken advantage of and part of me wants to tell the kids if they're hungry, they need to go home and eat. Another part of me wants to talk to the parents about how much time their spending over at my house. AITA for feeling this way? AITA for asking a woman at work to stop being so WEIRD about taking a caramel?
I like to have snacks in my office, and I enjoy having something for people to take when they come in for a visit. I have a container of chocolate caramel thins open for anyone to take. The problem is that when many of the other women in my office take one they do this whole song and dance “Ohhhh I shouldn’t ohhh it’s so bad ohhh but i just love chocolate ohhh it’s so naughty” Stuff like this just annoys the crap out of me. Take a candy or don’t. But don’t force me to participate in whatever weird self deprecating thing you’re doing. Especially calling it “naughty” like you’re scolding a child. I always just smile blankly and they will look at me like I’m supposed to give them permission. I finally had it yesterday when one of the women stood in my doorway and pointed and was like “Ohhhh I looooove those caramels, they’re so good. But ugh I shouldn’t. You’re so bad for having these.” I said “Can you stop doing that? It’s making me uncomfortable.” She pretended to not know what I was talking about. I said “Are you okay? You come in here and you act like you need my permission to eat a piece of candy. You keep calling it “naughty” like you’re a little kid. It’s super weird behavior and makes me feel uncomfortable, so please stop.” She gave me a weird look and said she was just being silly, and nevermind. She left. I found out later on that she said I ripped her head off and warned one of the other women who’s always doing all that “ohhh I’m soooo bad” crap to avoid getting candy from me unless she wants to be scolded. I’m not going to stop having candy out, because there are SOME people who can do it without the whole song and dance. But am I really the asshole for just asking her to stop doing that “oooh I’m so bad oooo” crap? Edit: Ok, I am clearly the asshole. I will take the caramels home with me today so I don't have to put up with this gross self-deprecating humor thing anymore. I thought I was doing a nice thing but I can't deal w/ the drama from the people with body image issues. I don't think it's fair they bring that into my office. So I'll just take them home. submitted by /u/chocolatesinmyoffice to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Not having snacks for kids during Ramadan
I’m a fifth-grade teacher and could use some perspective. I have students who are observing Ramadan, and our school policy says we can’t deny students access to breakfast or lunch. Breakfast and lunch are free every day, and I check in with this particular student each morning to ask if they’re getting lunch—most of the time, they say no. I don’t regularly keep snacks in my classroom because it can get expensive. Occasionally, I have small leftover items from class parties (like individual bags of chips), but that’s not consistent. This student frequently asks me for a snack during the day, and when I can’t provide one, they get upset because they haven’t eaten. I’m trying to be respectful and supportive, but I’m also unsure where my responsibility begins and ends here. Since food is available at school and the student is choosing to fast, is it my responsibility to provide snacks in this situation? I’d really appreciate others’ thoughts or how you’ve handled similar situations. submitted by /u/sadcollegekid2003 to r/Teachers [link] [comments]

Embrace the chaos….. it’s a wild time and kids are kids. I have a 4 year old and 2 year old twins. Waking up before my kids and having at least 20MIN of quiet time REALLY helps my mental health. If I wake up to kids immediately demanding things (milk, toys, breakfast, snacks, snacks, snacks) it puts me in such a crappy mood. I need a little silence in the morning

To feed the neighbor kids or not to feed the neighbor kids.
Hey parents, I know some of you have been through this so I'm looking for some advice. I live in a small neighborhood and I have 2 munchkins ages 4F and 7M, the neighbors also have kids 4F and 7M. The kids are at our house almost daily whether it's after school or all day on the weekends, I have no qualms with having them over so much, they all play very well together and the destruction to the house is somewhat minimal(LOL). The problem is we don't tend to keep a lof of extra food in the house and usually the day before grocery day we are getting pretty thin in the pantry. I've fed my sons friend before when we buy the large pizza from Aldi and his friend can eat half a pizza in one sitting often living very little for us. My son is very generous with his/our food and often offers snacks to his friends. I don't mind feeding them every once in a while but sometimes on a weekend they could be here all day and when we plan meals for the family we genuinely usually don't have enough to accommodate extra people eating or when we order out I usually don't buy extra food. Financially we are doing okay but sometimes it's little things that really bother me, for instance both of the neighbor kids are notorious for taking apple juices out of the fridge and not even drinking half of them or leaving other uneaten food out, yesterday the kids made a fort and I found that they had left food in the fort and the dog got into the box of cheez-its which ultimately got wasted, I also found 3 other boxes of snacks in their fort. Am I overreacting, should I feed them like they are my own when they are here? Or should I establish some more clear boundaries and how do I do it without being an asshole? What say you fellow parents? submitted by /u/Muricanmechanic to r/Parenting [link] [comments]

My kids love when I Microplane the Frozen Organic Mixed Fruit for a snack. Each bowl here = 1 Strawberry.
Hey parents—My kids love when I microplane the frozen fruit from this mixed fruit bag. I’m sure you could use a cheese grater too but the microplane works great for me. Also, each bowl here is just 1 strawberry from the bag so it makes it last a long time. They haven’t asked for ice cream or popsicles for weeks. They really enjoy the mangoes in here as well. I have put a little whipped cream on top sometime too. Enjoy! submitted by /u/marcSuile to r/Costco [link] [comments]

UCP taking away snacks for kids with cancer in Alberta hospitals.

My neighbor doesn't buy her kids any snacks or drinks...
We bought our house we are in 8 years ago. 2 months ago my husband passed away from cancer...🥹🥹🥹we are financially secure but when we moved in we started meeting the neighbors after we were settled in. There was one little girl who was about 4, as she got to know us she started spending a lot of time with us. We took her on vacations, dinners, shopping and parks etc etc.. This little girl F even spent the night with us. I spoiled her and got her many treats and clothing and gifts. We then met her older sister 10 ish who started asking for the same things which I kept giving them sodas, snacks and food etc. she soon started bringing her other friends over. I finally decided to put a stop to her and her friend 11 and told them I am cutting this gravy train off because I have to go shopping more often than I wanted to. It was getting old and I even complained to the parents of them about the older kids hoping they will stop their kids but of course they didn't. So 3 years ago the older sister (R) asked me what I am buying her for Christmas this year? I told her that I that's not happening anymore. The same night she tried to set our house on fire. Was going to call the cops but the mother said it would be too extreme and she will deal with her and she won't be allowed to go anywhere for 2 months and she will take away her phone etc. I saw her going everywhere the same day and the days following. 5 days after I talked to her mom about it R sent me a text asking for $15, no apologies nothing just straight out 'do you have $15? I forwarded that text to her mom and nope nothing. So I stopped acknowledging her when I saw her anywhere. Just ignored her. She started tossing things in our swimming pool. My husband told them that he was done with their child and he put more security cameras around our house. She has major anger issues. She tried to get her guy friends to take out the cameras and of course we saw that and called the cops and showed them the proof. They talked to the boys who said R had offered to let them feel her up if they damaged our cameras. My husband said if they ever come close to our home or vehicles they will be carried away in a body bag which scared them. The family rented their house out and moved far away. But 6 months ago they moved back into their house. I still ignore the free moocher, she kept sending (F) over to ask for so many things which mostly included food but not limited to... so she now knows that I won't budge. Plus now she is 17 and F is 12. The mother kicked the older monster out because she couldn't handle her... she steals from everyone and anyone. Stores, parents, friends and neighbors.. I blame the mother for not disciplining her when she should have. Now F has started following in the footsteps of her older sister as far as wanting snacks and drinks. She asked for bottled water many times. One day I told her that she should drink tap water and she said she hates the tap water and she too started bringing a friend around. I saw the friend (L) one day outside looking very hot, she lives several streets away so I gave her a bottle of Sunny D. She left and within 5 minutes F was on my door ringing the doorbell frantically and trying to open the door. I was watching from the cameras while I was handing some insurance claims for my husband's passing. I was emotional and I ignored her. They left but as I am watching she took her much younger friends juice and she poured it all out. I guess her thinking was if I can't get any then she shouldn't either. Now F is a very nice and a thoughtful girl. But since she knows that I like her she can just ask for anything she wants. Again it's gotten old. 2 days later they both came to my door in the guise of checking on me but when I didn't offer them anything to drink F started talking rather loudly and she said, 'I WAAANT DOCTOR PEPPER' while her friend just as loudly saying, 'MEE TOOO'! I told F that, 'Both your parents work, ask them to buy it for you!' She looked shocked and said but I thought you loved me! I said that doesn't mean that I will give you things anytime you want. The younger friend had seen my DoorDash delivery once, we had gotten KFC and she told F that we had KFC and they came to ask us for some. I told her we got 2 bowls and my daughter and I shared and my son had one and there was no chicken. The mother is very aware of this demands that her kids make from the other neighbors. She has been separated from her husband for many years. She can buy high end designer handbags but other than giving her kids food she won't buy them anything extra. I am grieving and these people are now asking me for firewood to keep their house warm. It's not my job to do that. Their home uses oil for heat and it's probably about the same price to fill it up as her Gucci handbag does. I have central heat, but I also love the fireplace in the cold days. She doesn't prioritize. I don't know what to do because after telling them so many times that we aren't rich enough to feed the neighbors. I don't want to sell my house... they are freeloaders. The mom asked me to sell her our older van on a payment plan but I refuse to sell it. I am emotionally attached to it because that was my husband's commuter van. It's only 2 months since he has been gone. I am not ready to part with any of his things for now... Any advice? Thank you in advance... submitted by /u/SnooWoofers5703 to r/EntitledPeople [link] [comments]

AITAH for insisting that my neighbors kids eat the food I give them in front of me?
EDIT: I have contacted CPS this morning, after reading all of your comments. I also posted the following message in our group chat: "Hey, there seems to be some confusion regarding my intentions towards [children's names]. I'd like to clear the air. [link to this post]. I am trying to feed those kids, because they are hungry. I sent food to their house, and [mother's name] decided to eat it herself, and [children's names] got none of it. If any of you want to help out, maybe we can set up a rotation, where I feed them one day, and other people feed them the next, and so on. All I want is to make sure children are not going hungry when I have the ability to stop it. None of this would be necessary if [mother's name] would feed her own children, or, failing that, simply not steal the food I sent over for them. I have lived in this neighborhood for almost 15 years now, and I consider most of you my friends, so to see the absolutely horrid accusations coming from yall hurts me deeply." Main post below: I (47m) live in a poor area, but I am financially stable. My daughter (7f) made friends with the kids (6m and 8f) that belong to my new neighbor (32f). I started to notice that the kids would eat a LOT of snacks when they came over. Like, whole boxes of snack cakes and entire family size bags of chips, even going so far as to eat 120 pizza rolls one weekend. I didn't feel right feeding them so much garbage. It's just not healthy. But, I understand food insecurity, I grew up poor. So I decided to start making extra portions of dinner and breakfast (free lunch exists in my area), so I could send them to the kids, to make sure they were getting enough calories. I'd drop them off on their porch every night at 7:30pm (dinner for the night, and breakfast for the next morning). I did not, and will not make portions for their mom. She chooses to buy pot and booze instead of food. As an adult, that is her decision. I'll feed her kids, but she is an adult, she gets SSI, SNAP, and child support. She can pay for her own food, she just has other priorities. At first, things were fine. We weren't going through as many cakes, chips, and frozen "garbage" treats. The kids were well fed, and they were happy. This past weekend, both kids came over and they were ravenous. Clearly they had not eaten enough. So, I politely asked if there was something wrong with the food I had sent over, maybe they didn't like it (kids can be picky). They responded that their mother had taken the food, eaten it herself, and left the them with nothing to eat. Needless to say, I was fucking furious. I told the kids that if their mom was going to steal the food I was donating to them, then the only solution was for them to come eat at my house, so that I can make sure my efforts are not going to waste. Well, their mom went on an angry rant in our neighborhood group chat. She accused me of "grooming" her kids, and implied that I have bad intentions towards them. 75% of my neighbors think I am doing the right thing. But the other 25% have joined her in blasting me on social media, one going so far as calling me a "potential sex offender", who is "looking for victims". So, reddit, I'm asking you. Am I being creepy, am I TA here? Or am I being reasonable? submitted by /u/Outside_The_Walls to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

AITA for not letting my friend's kids have any of the treats in my house? Or making my kid's share their snacks?
I'll try to make this short and sweet. I have four kids, ages 4, 6, 8 and 10. Each kid has their own little "snack box" in the pantry. It's basically a cardboard box with their name on it that they've decorated how they like. Whenever we buy snacks of any kids (aside from healthy things like nuts or fruit or veggies etc.) we'll put an equal amount of each in each kid's snack box. Otherwise the box would be empty in a few days and because they would all come to eat some and one kid would end up eating much more than another or someone just wouldn't get any. We figured this way they all get equal amounts and can learn regulate on their own how much they eat and how long it lasts. It has lead to some interesting trades between them (trading snacks for snacks or chores for snacks etc.) Thankfully we haven't had much trouble with them stealing from each other. So we have a few good friends who come over alot. Between them they have 3 kids that come over with them and play with our kids, ages 3, 8 and 12. Last week they came over and the 3 year old wanted a snack cake that was in my 8 year old's snack box. Everyone of my other kids have already eaten their cakes and my 8 year old had two left (they each started with three). The 3 year old asked for one and my 8 year old said no. She didn't want to share because they were her favorite and she was saving them for later. 3 year old threw a tantrum and friend's spouse was upset I wouldn't make my child share. I said they were her snacks and she didn't have to if she didn't want to. Friend's spouse said that it wasn't fair I had snack cakes where a toddler could see them and tell her she couldn't have one and that my snack box system is going to cause my kid's to have a bad relationship with food or cause hoarding problems or something like that in the future. That they need to learn to share. I said they do know how to share, I just don't MAKE them share FOOD and that 3 year old can have anything else in the house, just nothing from the snack boxes. She said that all the "good stuff" was in the snack boxes and if I was going to do this I should leave some out for when other kid's come over so they can have some too. AITA for not making my kid share her snacks? Even if it really upset my friend's kid? submitted by /u/BugGroundbreaking946 to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

AITA? For rudely telling my neighbor to take a hike for wanting me to stop bringing snacks to the park?
Read first, Please. So me and the ladies in the neighborhood are in a group. We always hang out together (most of us are STAHMs) shop together and always keep in touch on social media. With the weather getting hotter, we begun our routinely park picnic as a group (moms and the kids) moms to enjoy some fresh air (we all live in small apartments) and the kids to play and have fun. One of the ladies (new to the neighborhood) suggested that we start a diet to get in a better shape. Each came up with her own diet and work out routine except me because I'm petite (tiny) plus I breastfeed so I eat more than I need. They said it's performed understandable and I thought that was the end of it. However once we started going on our weekly picnics to the park they started complaining that I was bringing snacks like raisin cake/bread/butter/Doritos for my son and that kinda of stuff I bring with me. They told me I was ruining their diet by making them 'crave' for this stuff and wanting to have it even by looking at it. They tried to convince me to try their snacks but I already have and I didn't like them. This caused a huge problem with the ladies. They told me they no longer want me to go with them at the park after they "uncontrollably" ate my snacks and ruined their diets. I said fine. I started coming with my son to the park and sit by myself. Each one of the ladies would stop by to chatter and end up taking some of my snacks saying they couldn't resist. This went on for 3 weeks. One of them (the one who supervises the whole duet plan) came to me and informed me that I was indirectly ruining their diets by giving them snacks when I see them at the park. I told her I wasn't forcing them to eat my snacks but they politely ask to have some so I give them. She bluntly said I was seemingly trying to sabotage their diet because of jealousy or simply to proof a point that this was a waste of time since I didn't accept to be part of it from the beginning. She gave me an ultimatum to either stop bringing unhealthy food, not bring anything at all, or stop coming to the park altogether so I won't end up giving any of the ladies unhealthy snacks. I was shocked I told her to take a hike this park is a public place and I'm free to bring whatever snack I want and I'm not going to make my son starve after playing for hours. Long story short I told her to take a hike we got into a argument and in a matter of hours the ladies were criticizing me for my rudeness and not wanting to help them with their diets. They said yes they were the ones asking for my snacks when they see me and they feel guilty but I should try to accommodate them and keep the snacks away otherwise this could ruin our friendship. AITA for telling my sister to get over me letting my kid just rinse his dishes as opposed to scrubbing them clean after he eats a light snack?
My sister is staying with me for a while as a guest. She’s 19, I’m in my 40’s, married with a kiddo. When my son (9) eats snacks such as chopped grapes, crackers with cheese and ham, etc, my wife and I have taught him it’s fine to simply rinse his plate and put it on the drying rack. He isn’t required to bust out the dish soap or anything, a quick rinse will do. My wife and I are like this ourselves with non sticky/ pungent/ germ harboring foods, and for the most part what he’s placed on the drying rack will get used later on for another snack/ lunch/ dinner or whatever later anyway and then it will be washed properly by either myself or my wife at the end of the day. Now my sister finds this practice absolutely disgusting and abhorrent and has made it clear we are dirty nasty assholes for letting our son do this and that we should make him use dish soap and a sponge at all times. She’s gone so far as to tell my son ‘ew that’s nasty think of all the germs’ and it’s given him a fear of germs. My wife and I had to sit down and explain to him there’s nothing wrong with a few germs and that he’s not going to get sick from simply rinsing a plate he ate apples off of. I told my sister to either get over it or rewash the dishes herself because we see nothing wrong with how we currently run our house. She has written about it on the family group chat (consisting of my parents, other brother + wife, her, and my wife and myself) Because she’s so grossed out by it and my mom is telling me I need to just respect my sisters wishes for the time being to make her comfortable. EDIT: for those asking, it’s my child’s plate. It’s only 1 plate in question. No one else touches it. submitted by /u/gourmet-grown-bastar to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

I feel bad for saying this but my neighbor's kids keep coming over and I hate it. What to do?
At first I was really excited when they moved in two houses down. My 4 year old's playmate had moved out couple of months prior and she was always looking for friends to play with. She gets along well with kids who are much older than her. So when this 11 year old boy and his 9 year old sister and 3 year old brother asked if they could come play in my yard after seeing my kids play (i have 4 kids - oldest is 4 and youngest is just a few months old) I was more than welcoming. At first I didn't mind that they didn't really play with my kids and pretty much ignored them. I have a lot of toys in my yard including a small playground with a ladder and a slide, a sandbox, a water table, a toddler "roller coaster" and a seesaw. My 4 year old didnt mind that she was ignored, she just loved being around them. Then I started feeling bad that they wouldn't share her own toys with her and sometimes would even tell her to leave them alone. They got so used to making themselves feel at home that the moment I open the gate to my yard, they descend upon my children's toys like a pack of wolves. They come into my kitchen and help themselves to whatever's in the fridge. Once I caught the older kid turning on my hose and having a water fight, getting my babies wet on a cold winter day. They used up the entire bottle of bubble solution that I just bought for $15 in just one afternoon! They stay and watch Netflix in my living room even while my kids take a nap. The older boy even asks to use our computer to watch YouTube videos. And whatever snacks I prepare for my kids they ask for some too. I feel like a babysitter. One time they even stayed until dinner. I kept telling them your parents must be looking for them and they'd have to go home but they insisted on staying. I'm already picking up after 4 kids and now I'm picking up after 3 more! I've seen their parents from a distance and sometimes I hear the mom call out their names but she has never bothered to come over and say hi which is surprising considering how much time their children spend in my house. It used to happen every day in the summer and now it happens three to four times a week after school and sometimes on weekends. I'm starting to resent having them around. It got so bad that I would hide with my kids in the house whenever I hear them outside so they have taken to ringing the doorbell and knocking on my door and calling at my daughter's name almost every day after school. Then one afternoon when I thought the coast was clear I took my kids out to the front yard and a few minutes later they came over and reached over to unlock the gate without asking me if they could. I told them no, we're actually going back inside now. And the older boy said well, can we play in your yard while you're inside? I told him no, I cannot supervise you right now. So far I've turned them away four times but they are relentless. I feel like a prisoner in my own home. I am already so exgausted taking care of 4 kids full time and I dont have the time or energy to attend to these kids anymore. I don't want them coming over but at the same time, I dont want to hurt their feelings. I don't think I could talk to their parents. They pretty much let their kids loose and they've never bothered to walk a few feet over to say hi when collecting their kids from my house. submitted by /u/talastar to r/Parenting [link] [comments]

AITA for sending my kid to school with "adult" snacks and lunches?
Living a healthy lifestyle is important to me, and it's important to pass it onto my kids as well. I have a second grader who I have brought up (so far) to be very involved in the kitchen, what we eat, diet and exercise. She came home with a note from her teacher the other day asking to please send her with more "appropriate" snacks and lunches. I thought for a minute that maybe I accidentally grabbed one of my Quest Bars or something for her and asked my daughter. For her morning snack, all the other kids had something like cookies, fruit by the foot/gummy snacks, etc. My daughter's absolute favorite snack ever is pickles, and she has said herself that she's never that hungry at snack time because we have a nice high protein breakfast, I put in a cut up pickle for her along with a babybel cheese in case she was hungry. The teacher commented on it. Lunchtime came around, and I guess a similar thing happened. My kid goes nuts for anything spicy, so for lunches this week I made a cold spicy sesame noodle dish with lots of peanuts, shaved carrots, etc. Her friend wanted to sample it so she gave some to her friend, and I guess it was crazy spicy for the friend and she cried to the teacher. This is what sparked the note. So I explained that she shouldn't share "spicy" foods with her friends, and figured I'd skip the pickles next time. Well, it wasn't good enough. Just yesterday, the teacher sent home a letter to everyone explaining that she's requesting we make sure to send "age appropriate" foods to school, and gave examples of things like a PB & J, snack pack pudding, fruit cups, etc. I called the teacher and asked her about the note. Teacher became very judgmental and said to please just remember my daughter is "a little kid" and that she doesn't need to worry about eating "adult food" yet. I asked if there was some kind of school policy about this, and she became very icy and said "No" and "This really shouldn't be a big deal." This might be where I fucked up. I told the teacher that I'm the parent, and there's nothing wrong with my child's diet. That when she (the teacher) has kids, she can feed what she might she'd like, but that unless there's some kind of school policy, I will continue to send my kid to school with the foods I pick. Teacher got huffy and hung up. Just to double check, I asked my daughter two things: Does she LIKE her lunches? (Enthusiastic yes about most of them!) and "Are the other kids making fun of you?" because I know that can be an issue. She said no, and that sometimes they even ask for a pickle too. So AITA, or is this teacher way out of line? submitted by /u/snacktimeaita to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]
