Did you end up buying the guide book? Is it any good? I can't believe how enjoyable a series it is. I suppose it has soap elements that make it compulsive viewing.

@RPR31, did washing it with soap somehow help? I have some memories of being told we'd need to wash our tongues with soap but not sure if it was to cleanse lies or curse words

Absolutely, this stuff isn't particularly nice and far better just to use soap and water or diluted citric acid/distilled vinegar - cheaper too

Pee in the trash can &:wash your hands with dish soap in the kitchen sink. Save the can when you open a can of soup or beans. Pee in that. Dump it outside or in the sink. Rinse it out & pour it in the sink, too Problem solved. You're welcome.

Soap said: Same. The pilot must have been abysmal not to move forward with this brand and the attached cast. I won't automatically assume TV executives must have a good and sensible reason, there's plenty of times they've cancelled or canned things for ridiculous reasons, and there's plenty of major shows that were picked up despite bad pilots (Game of Thrones for instance).

Shower gel is the biggest scam ever, it doesn't even lather up properly and it gets used faster. A bar of soap lasts longer and is cheaper, like WAY cheaper. A bar of soap is like a dollar while a bottle of body wash is like 5-15 dollars. This may or may not be a wide issue, but I swear, every time I go to somebody’s house and they put on a show or a movie on their TV, it looks like a soap opera. Every time I asked them if they’ve tried to mess with their TV settings to take off this “soap opera effect“ they either don’t care or they don’t know what I’m talking about. A lot of people say that it’s just because their TV is super high definition and they actually prefer it that way? Am I the crazy one? I swear I’m not some type of a cinephile, but I absolutely cannot enjoy a movie with this effect. I have an old TV and I swear I am terrified that it’s going to break soon and I’m going to have to get one of those TVs that has that because if that’s the case, I don’t know what I would do. I feel ridiculous even asking this, but I honestly don’t know if I’m missing something or being gaslit. I’m a Black woman and my boyfriend is white. This is the first white man I’ve ever dated, which is relevant because I keep wondering if I’m misunderstanding something cultural. My boyfriend does not regularly use soap when he showers. He says he rinses with water and that soap is optional unless you’re visibly dirty. He will sometimes use shampoo, but body soap is inconsistent at best. He also doesn’t always use soap when washing his hands in the bathroom and says hot water is enough. When I brought this up, he told me that I’m overreacting and that this is “a white people thing” and that I’m judging him through my own cultural lens. He said growing up, his family didn’t obsess over soap the way mine did and that my expectations are based on how I was raised, not on what’s medically necessary. He said different ethnic groups get dirtier at different rates so he does not need soap as often as I do. This really threw me. In my family and community, soap is not optional. You shower daily, you use soap, you wash your hands properly, you use a bar of soap to wash your a**. It’s basic hygiene. I’ve never had to explain this to an adult partner before. The problem is that it affects shared spaces. Our towels smell. Our sheets smell faster than they should. I question his bathroom and backdoor hygeine because sometimes there is a poop smell when we are intimate. He insists I am imagining it because black people are too uptight about using soap all the time and using washcloths. he even makes fun of me for using washcloths! I’ve had to rewash laundry because things don’t feel clean. I feel uncomfortable inviting people over because I’m worried the house smells off, even if he insists I’m imagining it. When I push back, he says I’m being judgmental and culturally insensitive and that I need to stop projecting my standards onto him. He says if I really understood him, I’d realize this is normal where he comes from and that I’m making it into a bigger issue than it needs to be. Now I’m stuck questioning myself. Is this actually a cultural difference I should be more open minded about, or is this just bad hygiene being dressed up as something deeper? I don’t want to be unfair or ignorant, but I also don’t want to live like this. I feel like his bad hygiene is negatively impacting my life and I don't have any white female friends to ask. My first exposure to Taylor Sheridan was 2015's *Sicario*. Directed by Denis Villeneuve, *Sicario* is a bleak story about the ultimate collapse of jurisdiction, legality, and morality around the War on Drugs as national elements and interests slowly degrade into pure power politics. It has been called the *Apocalypse Now* of the War on Drugs, and while I don't think *Sicario* is quite a film of that caliber I do think the comparison stands as legitimate. The year after *Sicario* was released, 2016, saw the release of a crime tragedy set in West Texas titled *Hell or High Water*, directed by David Mackenzie. *Hell or High Water* is a great films, as all of the performances, settings, and dialogue create a sincere and disturbing look at rural poverty in America. The film, ostensibly a heist film, features characters fully formed from the land which reared them. The cars they drive, the way they talk, and clothes they wear all appear to the audience as sincere to the setting and theme. The climactic refrain of the film is poignant, "I've been poor my whole life, like a disease passing from generation to generation. But not my boys, not anymore." And the year after that we have 2017's *Wind River*, directed by Sheridan himself. I have mixed feelings about this film. It tackles the topic, that of the murder of Indigenous women on western reservations, with the appropriate weight and despair. At times it *almost* rises to the level of Cormac McCarthy and Larry McMurtry in terms of the grandiosity and profound sorrow in the western cannon. It is a film which is so tense at times it almost feels like your back is about to shatter from the strain. The climactic standoff absolutely deserves it's place in film history. And it features an incredible, but brief, performance by Gil Birmingham as a father who almost seems to be transforming into a being of pure grief. However, *Wind River* also features Jeremy Renner as a white guy who seems to really believe that he is just as native as the Native Americans he lives with, and while Elizabeth Olsen turns in a good performance as the representative of an uncaring federal government, she plays a far more central role in the plot that the great Graham Greene, whose portrayal of an indigenous police chief is commanding of respect. By 2018 Sheridan had three critically acclaimed films under his belt, with one as director and one being nominated for Best Picture. Then he writes the superfluous sequel to *Sicario* titled *Sicario: Day of the Soldado*, which failed to make any real impact at all. Importantly, however, *Sicario 2* reduces the immorality and cynicism from the CIA characters and seemingly is more approving of the institutions he criticized in his own previous screenplay. All in all, a strange and disappointing follow up. And then *Yellowstone* happens, which launches Sheridan into the stratosphere in terms of fame and income. I hate *Yellowstone*. I hate how its understanding of the west is seemingly entirely based in the Texan hatred of public land and land conservation. I hate how the show's understanding of the rural working class and ranching is almost entirely seen as violent, confrontational, and libertarian. I hate the militarism of the show . But I think what I hate most is how a man who once wrote a heartbreaking film about rural poverty wasted the opportunity to offer any meaningful examination of life in the rapidly gentrifying American West, and instead became the primary advertiser for that gentrification. And then the rest is history. He's now writing disposable show after disposable show about the virtues of the American military establishment, as well as about the virtues of the oil industry decimating the rural farmland he was once such a mourner of. In *Wind River* oil rig workers were the racist, murdering, rapists, in *Landman* they're heroes holding up the American way of life. But I know the answer already. It's money. At some point in the last few decades, it seems like people stopped using bar soap in favor of body wash. This is due to successful marketing that implies body wash gets you cleaner, is better for your skin, and is somehow more convenient, compared to good old fashioned bar soap. This is ridiculous, bar soap is way better. Here's why: Bar soap and body wash are basically made from the same chemicals, there is no difference in how they interact with dirt or your skin. Obviously different brands will have different quality, but compared across brands its basically the same. Bar soap is way cheaper. Even for premium brands, bar soap is a fraction of the cost of stupid body wash. Less plastic waste. Bar soap leaves behind a tiny cellophane wrapper compared to a big, thick plastic bottle + lid/pump top. If you care at all about the environment, ditch the body wash for the much lower impact bar soap. No additional equipment needed. You can apply bar soap directly to skin and its easy to get a good lather going. With body wash, you need a loofah or at least a wash cloth to get a good lather going otherwise you end up wasting a ton of product to get clean. Research the programs that participated in SOAP in previous years. Keep multiple specialties open with separate personal statements. These interviews are short so no need to panic, here are FAQS. Make sure you have the answers hitting on the spot and do prep for one on one and panel interviews. a-why did you go unmatched b- why this program C- how you have improved since last cycle Dont limit yourself to only top tier programs community programs can be great too Use your connections, networking is a big factor If round 1 doesn’t work out, dont panic you still have round 3 and 4 theres still hope. Hi everyone! I was looking for a soap which would be perfect for dry skin. I am currently using fiama soaps and I lovee the scent but my skin gets soo dry I have to practically bathe in body lotion. I have tried dove original in the past but it leaves an unpleasant clingy film on my skin and I never feel fully clean. But this is the first time my controlling nature has come in really handy. I matched thank God but my friend didn't and I found out like a few hours later when I texted him to check in. I realized like a few hours later he was so paralyzed he hadn't done anything. I immediately went into action mode and started making a to do list with him over zoom and was rewriting his essays/ repurposing them for new specialties, making new action plans for LORs, and like checking in on him like every hour to see progress in contacting mentors and seeing what everyone has said and what he needs done from the school etc.. and i don't know why. Like I could just easily walk away and have spent the whole day celebrating my own match but like seeing him so despondent and not taking action has turned on this insanely controlling side of my that's like ok enough of the pity party let's get MOVING. I'm honestly not even close to this guy that much is the funny part, I literally just became friends with him like 1-2 months ago. One thing I realized is there's a lot of people who will offer their help when they hear the news but like sometimes what these people need is like for you to say exactly what you can do, almost like take their hand and help them move it because this is such a paralyzing time.
