[Add-on] Watch USA Live TV
https://preview.redd.it/c1vpvg3pdphd1.png?width=300&format=png&auto=webp&s=d1483ee00fa4f118ef522fc652c2d1b2a2ca73a4 Even though Stremio wasn't initially designed as a live content video player, there's a strong demand for watching TV on the platform, and this addon aims to fulfill that need! 😁. This addon aims to transform Stremio into an all-in-one app where users can also enjoy live content that matters most to them along with their favorite movies and TV shows. Whether you're tuning in to watch your favorite team's match, staying updated on daily events, entertaining your kids with cartoons, or exploring nature and history documentaries, now you can do it all! Stremio doesn't replicate a traditional cable experience; instead, the idea is to select a channel and let it play in the background. I curated this list based on viewership, popularity, availability, and community feedback, opting for a more minimalistic approach (channels that people would be willing to pay a cable subscription for). No more sketchy sites or apps, full of ads, geo-restricted, and low-quality streams, and fully integrated into our favorite streaming platform! What does the USA TV addon include? The add-on provides access to over 180 HD/FHD channels across various categories including local channels, news, sports, entertainment, premium, lifestyle, kids' shows, documentaries, Latino programming, and much more. You can find the complete channel lineup here. (deprecated) Tested on Android TV (mainly), Android (built-in and VLC), Windows, Samsung TV, LG TV, and Linux using the built-in player, and iPhone using Outplayer. Web client is not supported without an external player. To keep in mind Like any TV-over-internet service, there is inevitably some delay. Channels focusing on movies or TV shows are not the priority (even though, some are included when live events are broadcasted or when their programming is hard to find on the platform) If you are looking for a large line-up, EPG, DVR, etc, this is not for you. This addon doesn't try to replicate an IPTV service with every channel in existence, it just gives access to the content that cannot be obtained on demand and most people are interested in. Please check theTVApp if this add-on doesn't fulfill your needs. Some channels may take longer to load initially or be buffered until cached. Please be patient. Your internet connection also plays a big role in the stream's stability. Channels may be added or removed without prior notice, depending on availability. The add-on utilizes publicly available IPTV streams, and a VPN is not mandatory. I may add a couple more channels in the future, but please don't request specific channels. Maintaining all streams requires significant time and effort, adding more channels only increases this workload. No, I won't expand the content to other countries/regions. However, you can access my original project if you are interested in Argentinean/Latin-American programming. The fine print This add-on DOES NOT stream or re-stream the signal; it utilizes publicly available streams. I am not responsible for how it is used by the end user. It is provided 'as is,' without any warranty, express or implied. Please use it at your own risk! How to get it https://stremio-addons.net/addons/usa-tv I recommend installing it from a computer as it requires a web browser. Once installed, it will sync with your other devices. You can access it from the Home or Discover (TV Channel) sections. The Discover section allows you to filter channels by category, making it easy to find the channel you want. You can also add your favorite channels to the library for quick access. Pro tip: If you would like to have the TV catalog at the top of the home section, please use the Stremio addon manager. Updates https://www.stremaddon.net Contribution for server expenses I've been running this on free stuff for a while, but I'm investing in a proper server to level up the experience. Yep, I'm paying for this out of pocket — for all of you to enjoy even a better FREE product. As you know, I don't accept donations. However, if you want to chip in to help cover server expenses — be my guest. Monero/XMR (preferred): 89UXn8uRkgXa56q6zawsreJCb4zQ9ySAz675oiEAXW8vAm4SjxZWDobVv3cWxEiZMSNQL2sxjWNTMLpshDnBkD1W4gfDvHq Credit Card: Those not familiar with cryptocurrencies can do it through https://guardarian.com/ Enter the amount and currency. Select the cryptocurrency (XMR) Click "Buy". Select the payment method. Enter the XMR address (it's right above) Enter the payment information. Complete the payment. TV Guide (deprecated) It doesn't mean we cannot access programming listings because Stremio doesn't support it. If you would like to have access to the USA TV programming, please create a TitanTV account. Once you have created the account, go to my lineups, temporarily disable your ad blocker, click "Create Token Lineup", and enter the following token: YfTEltA-4zCz!dx9tQ5p44sxrMyDTTHxUraiOLU56hgLUP4F!dvWkw ...create a bookmark and you are done! You can now visualize all the programming (the channel order matches the add-on), search, filter by genre, set a reminder, and even save programs as favorites. Note: The TV guide is based on Spectrum Manhattan, therefore, EST. Only NY/East Coast local channels were added. Recommended to use an ad blocker addon or a web browser with an ad blocker built-in. For instance: AdBlock, uBlock origin, or Brave. The channel lineup doesn't get automatically updated when I make changes to it. You will need to re-enter the token Troubleshooting / Support Before asking for help, please try basic troubleshooting, such as clearing the cache, rebooting your device, checking your internet connection, logging out/in, installing the latest version, etc. I run daily tests to verify the status of the feeds, so I know if a channel went down. No need to flood the sub with messages. This addon includes public feeds that come and go, this is expected. Errors like ERROR_CODE_IO_BAD_HTTP_STATUS mean the server is not responding. This could be a temporary issue or not. Rest assured I will fix it as soon as I have the chance, not just the minute it happens. The servers might get overloaded at times and there's nothing I can do about it. Try an alternative feed if there's one. If it still doesn't work, please add a comment including the channel, platform, app version, and issue description, and make sure it is not a temporary problem before posting. Speaking of support, leaving a comment and liking the add-ons page is appreciated. I won't answer DMs! Preview https://preview.redd.it/vdvk6u27ased1.png?width=2559&format=png&auto=webp&s=44f4157f3ec61f42ffedc05472deff64a6eb332f Update (07/24) I have added a bunch of channels since the release check the channel line-up to see what is currently available) and removed some others that weren't stable enough (mostly the Warner Bros Discovery-owned). Since the DMCA take-down, I'm struggling to find more sources. If anybody has access to some stable streams (Discovery, History, etc), please dm me. If you wonder what the criteria is to include a channel or not (yeah, it is not random). I'm mostly pulling the data from TV Channels Ranked by 2023 Viewership, Suppose.tv, and Sports TV Without Cable, no widely available VOD, popularity, and availability, along with the feedback from the community. Also, all the channels work with the built-in player and external players (VLC, OutPlayer). I got confirmation from some users (thank you!), that it works as expected on Apple devices (web client + external player), Samsung and LG TVs as well. Finally, the addon hasn't received much love on the Stremio add-ons page. Please, if you are enjoying it, leave a comment. The track record when it comes to live TV addons on Stremio is not the best and people might be hesitant to try it because of that. I hope everybody is enjoying their favorite TV programming! Update (07/27) I have created a TV guide on TitanTV to act as a companion for the addon. I've also added several new channels (Syfy, NFL Network, ID, and Paramount) to complete what I believe is the final lineup. Although a few notable channels (Discovery, Nat Geo, History) are still missing due to unavailable sources, I’ll try to re-add them if I find alternative feeds. Finally, I have introduced so many changes since the release that I have bumped the version to 1.1 (you don't need to do anything on your side, you will get the latest changes regardless). Before wrapping up, I would like to share how I've been feeling over the past few days... a bit disappointed and pissed off at times. I’ve encountered some disappointment and frustration, partly due to the constant demands and some negative comments I’ve received despite the significant effort put into this project, which has far exceeded my original scope. I didn't intend to rant, but I believe it's important for us to address these issues so that we can learn and grow as a community. To illustrate this, a recent example was a kid selling empty promises that got 800 likes in a matter of hours just for... a good marketing campaign, while the guy who delivered the first functional live TV addon had to put up with a lot of nonsense. The right expectations were set from the very beginning regarding what the addon can and cannot do. I kindly ask that you appreciate the work provided for FREE and think carefully before posting your comment. Remember, less than a week ago, there wasn’t even a live TV addon available (with many claiming it was impossible). My motivation comes from knowing that this addon has made a difference in your lives—whether it’s helping you set up Stremio for your grandpa’s westerns, watching the game with your brother over the weekend, seeing your kids smiling in front of the TV, enjoying the Olympics with your partner, or providing Hallmark’s Christmas in July special for your mom. For the last time, I won't be adding more channels, creating addons for specific countries, or providing channel recommendations. I’ve gone above and beyond by creating a channel lineup and TV guide, so please don’t expect everything to be handed to you. Lastly, my request for comments on the add-ons page yielded just 4 comments and 6 likes after 165k views. Moving forward, I’ll be transitioning to maintenance mode to ensure the add-on remains stable, but I won’t be undertaking any additional work or answering comments tied to the previous paragraph. On the flip side, I want to express my gratitude to those who have acknowledged my efforts, offered constructive feedback, and reminded me of the reasons why I do it. A big thank you to u/Stremio-Racer for their support when I needed it the most (right when I was about to snap). Update (08/03) Added many more channels (ACC Network, NFL RedZone, ESPN U, Big 10 Network, ESPN Deportes, Discovery, Nat Geo, Disney XD, Boomerang, Cooking Channel, Magnolia Network, GSN, PBS Kids, BET, and Freeform) and created a new category called "Premium" which includes Cinemax, HBO, Showtime, and Starz. Which gives a total of close to 80 channels (the minimalistic approach hasn't aged very well 😂) Also, it has been fixed filtering by genre on Android TV and Web client. Plus minor cosmetic changes. Update (08/14) Added the following channels: Oxygen, NewsNation, MotorTrend, Nat Geo Wild, OWN, Reelz, TV One, BBC America, FXX, RFD-TV, NBC Sports, A&E, TCM, MeTV Toons, Bounce, Yes Network, HBO Latino, Sundance TV, CNN en Español Fixed Cartoon Network feed Added label for geo-located PBS channels. Incorporated two non-geo-located alternative feeds (KET and MPT). Replaced geo-located feeds (TBS, TNT, TCM, truTV) Added additional streams for a few sports channels Moved Spanish-speaking channels to the end of the catalog Update (08/24) Added We TV, Pop TV, CMT, MGM+, Outdoor Channel, and Laff channels Replaced Nickelodeon feed Removed MeTV Toons Created automated tests for nightly feed validation Replaced the default "SD" label on some platforms with "HD" to avoid confusion about feed quality Update (09/04) Added NewsMax, BBC World News, Bloomberg, C-SPAN, HLN, Lifetime Movies Network, Spectrum Sportsnet LA, VH1, Fox Business Network, ESPNews, GET, and beIN Sports Ñ channels Added additional local stations Update (09/07) After weeks and weeks of looking for History Channel, I have found it. This is a new server so I will rely on the community for feedback Added Hallmark Mystery Huge milestone... In 1.5 months after being released, USA TV has become the #2 addon on the Stremio Addons website, right after Torrentio 🥳️. Thanks to all of you for the constant support! The addon currently offers over 110 channels and over 160 streams (including local/regional and alternative feeds). For those who keep demanding more and more, I invite you to check out how much a similar offering would cost you... maybe you would be more grateful and less annoying after seeing it 😉 Update (09/10) One of the main servers went down. I was able to replace most of the streams, but you will notice that some alternative feeds were removed along with Bally Sports and HBO Latino. Close the app and clear the cache to make sure your device picks up the latest changes TitanTV has updated its website which has deleted the TV guide entirely. I had recreated it with a new token and updated the setup instructions Update (09/12) Added around 15 local stations each for CBS, Fox, and NBC, and 10 for ABC. If the game is not on any of those stations, sorry! New channels: CW, SportsNet New York, Altitude Sports, SEC Network, Universal Kids, Travel Channel, BET Her, Estrella TV, Nat Geo Mundo, Discovery en Espanol, Science Re-added Bally Sports and NBC California and Washington Added a second and even a third feed for most sports channels Renamed Spanish category to Latino (please upgrade or reinstall it if you don't see the change reflected) Bumped version to 1.3.0 Total channels: over 120 and almost 240 feeds (including local and alternative ones) This lineup is much larger than I intended to be when I started working on this project and it has become more of a cable replacement than a complement to what Stremio already offers. Please understand I don't have access to every channel out there, at this point if I don't add a channel is because I don't have access to it. You know, asking me to add SEC Network on every other comment won't magically make it appear. Long story short, I will go into maintenance mode for real this time. I cannot keep investing so much time in this project, especially when things break badly like a few days ago. Do you remember the sentence "adding more channels only increases this workload" from my original post? Well, I'm starting to feel the burnout and it's good to know when it's time to stop. Besides, there's not much work to be done at this point. Update (09/23) Added NESN, Root Sports Northwest, SportsNet Pittsburgh, Hallmark Family, FXM Many feeds were replaced and others were removed (mostly local stations and alternative streams) after a server went down during the weekend Re-added HBO Latino Update (10/02) Added UFC Fight Pass, Sony Movies, Grit, WWE Network Update (10/11) Added MASN, MSG Removed alternative and local feeds from a server that became too unstable Update (10/26) Added Willow Cricket Removed UFC Fight Pass and NBC Sports Chicago (no longer broadcasting) Update (11/01) Added Spectrum SportsNet Renamed Bally Sports to Fanduel Sports Network Update (11/10) It seems a server went down, and I won't have access to my computer to fix it for a week or so Update (11/20) All the feeds have been restored Update (11/24) Added Marquee Sports Network Fixed Game Show Network Included additional feeds for sports channels Update (12/07) Added around 35 new channels: Starz, HBO, Showtime, MGM+, and Cinemax full offering, Destination America, Discovery Life, Viceland, Comet, Court TV, Cozi TV, Discovery Family, Nicktoons, American Heroes Channel, Discovery Familia, Fox Soccer Plus, and Smithsonian Channel. Removed HBO Latino Fixed/removed broken feeds Channel line-up broken down into categories Bumped version to 1.4 Update (12/28) Fixed broken feeds Added Willow XTRA Updated Titan TV guide Update (01/12/2025) Fixed broken feeds Update (01/14/2025) Many feeds are unstable. They will be removed in the next update. There is no need to keep reporting it. Update (02/12/2025) As mentioned in the previous update, the broken/unstable feeds were removed. The token for TitanTV and the channel line-up have been deprecated. Update (03/20/2025) Removed broken feeds. Update (04/05/2025) Removed broken feeds. Update (05/07/2025) Restored most broken feeds (114 feeds currently working) Updates regarding the addon status https://www.reddit.com/r/StremioAddons/comments/1k7b35a/news_dryk1lllogics_update/ For those constantly asking for removed channels, the reason should be obvious. If the channel is gone, it is because of the lack of alternative feeds. Update (07/02/2025) Added new channels, restored some others, and added additional feeds (a total of 195 channels) Added Music category Bumped to v1.5 This is a partial update based on the work completed for version 2.0. I didn't want to keep you waiting until the full release, so here's an early look at the progress. The wait just got a little easier! Note: you need to reinstall it to get all the categories. Update (09/16/2025) Updated feeds Update 10/04/2025 Updates won't be provided on Reddit anymore. A Toast to the 2019 World Series Champion Washington Nationals
”For the sport’s participant, it is an experience of the constant dialectic of restraint and release, the repeated interplay of energy and order, of improvisation and obligation, of strategy and tactic, all neatness denied and ambiguity affirmed by the incredible power of the random, by accident or luck, by vagaries of weather, by mental lapses or physical failure, by flaw in field or equipment, by laws of physics that operate on round or oblong objects in their own way, by error in all its lurking multiplicity. It is not news that there is the snake of error in our lives; the news occurs when, for a moment, we can kill it. News occurs in winning, and knowing what that feels like.” – A. Bartlett Giamatti. In The Beginning The season is lost now, even before Memorial Day, and no veteran manager or fireballing reliever is going to alter that sorry state. The Washington Nationals arrived in New York in position to get the Mets’ manager fired. Instead, they depart Flushing with four odious performances that lead to the conclusion that their own manager is the one who should be removed — and with larger questions afoot. Dave Martinez’s time as an effective leader of the Nats is over, if it ever existed. … The silver lining, however slight, of all these putrid performances: They should make the hard decisions easier. Martinez, ejected in Thursday’s eighth inning, isn’t the man to manage this team, not if and when it rebuilds itself as a contender. And that rebuild should begin immediately. Trea Turner, Soto, Victor Robles, Strasburg, Patrick Corbin — there’s a core here that’s worth building around. Take this summer to solidify — and deepen — the foundation so that seasons such as this don’t happen again. Barry Svrluga, Washington Post, May 23, 2019. The answer is always fire Davey. /u/bbbb07 – Postgame Thread, May 23, 2019. The start of the 2019 season was a disaster of atomic proportions. The details have largely been blocked from memory, except for the epic and violent struggle of Trevor Rosenthal against infinity. The “shocking” Mets series left the Nationals subreddit on imminent deathwatch for Martinez, with the sub quickly moving on to simply declare him fired. In the first turning point of the season, General Manager Mike Rizzo apparently disagreed. The season would continue without drastic upheaval. On May 23, the Nationals’ record stood at 19-31. Fangraphs put their playoff probability at 22.2%. The probability they could win the World Series was estimated at 1.6%. Go 1-0 Today For his part, Martinez encouraged the team to “focus on today”. “I say it every day. Hey, let’s just go 1-0 today and focus on today and do everything we can to win today and go from there.” Slowly yet steadily, the Nationals began to dig out of the deep hole they found themselves in, leading to several notable regular season moments: June 9 (Padres): Howie Kendrick, Trea Turner, Adam Eaton, and Anthony Rendon go back-to-back-to-back-to-back in the top of the eighth in a 5-2 victory against the Padres. It was only the ninth time the feat had ever been accomplished and it had not been done since … the Nats did it in 2017. Look closely - this was also the first widely noted occurrence of not one but two key rituals – the dugout dance party and the “clutch and drive” celebration. In hindsight, this inning is when the team started coming into focus. June 19 (Phillies): Max Scherzer pitches seven scoreless innings with a broken nose and a black eye. He struck out ten. Perhaps more importantly for the arc of the season, in the first game of the doubleheader Gerardo Parra walks up for the first time with a new tune: Baby Shark. June 21 (Braves). The Nationals win to draw within a game of .500. Media reports note “[i]n the clubhouse before Friday’s game, several wore T-shirts that read, ‘Stay in the Fight.’” June 30 (Tigers): Before the game, Gerardo Parra and Fernando Rodney pick up some new sunglasses in Detroit. July 3 (Marlins): Stephen Strasburg pitches an immaculate inning. The night before, infielder Brian Dozier shared the first publicly seen footage of his rendition of Pedro Capo’s “Calma”. Lento y contento. July 4 (Marlins): The Nationals pass the Phillies and move into second place in the division. July 6 (Royals): Max Scherzer strikes out 11 wearing an Expos uniform. He also steals a base. Sean Doolittle calls the uniforms “so sick”. July 13 (Phillies): Juan Soto stuns the Phillies with two outs in the 9th. July 18 (Braves): Stephen Strasburg drops a 420 foot 3 run home run and 5 RBI on the Braves. Strasburg had two hits in the inning and the home run was followed by a dugout dance party. July 23 (Rockies): Trea Turner hits for the cycle. It is his second career cycle against the Rockies. Also in this game, Gerardo Parra premieres a new Baby Shark walkup video. It is not a coincidence. August 31 (Marlins): In the third inning, with the Nationals leading the Marlins 6-0, @Nationals shares the autotune remix of “And Now We Dance” featuring F.P. Santangelo. September 3 (Mets): The Mets lead 10-4 going to the bottom of the ninth. Kurt Suzuki walks off the Mets with one out. (Full bottom of the inning. LOLMets.) Previously this season, MLB teams leading by six or more runs in the ninth had been 274-0. Dave Martinez: “Boom”. "’The boys fought. What can I say about these guys, honestly?’ said manager Davey Martinez, whose club began the day having scored more ninth-inning runs than any other team in baseball, then went out and added to that cushion. ‘All year long, they've been down, down, down, and they come right back.’" September 7 (Braves): After four years of rehab, Aaron Barrett pitches again in the major leagues. September 24 (Phillies). Thanks to Trea Turner’s grand slam, the Nationals finally dig out of the season-long hole in the second game of the doubleheader. They clinch a postseason berth. Daniel Hudson saved both games of the doubleheader. The Nats went on to a five game sweep of the Phillies, eliminating them. The players celebrated, shirtless. Yet after all of that, their backs were still against the wall. Postseason National League Wild Card Game It wouldn’t be the last time the Nationals found themselves behind in a winner-take-all game in October, but it might have one of the most tense. Yasmani Grandal of the Brewers had taken the air out of Nationals Park with a two run shot before Max Scherzer could even get the first out of the game. By the bottom of the eighth, time was running short despite Scherzer’s efforts and a shutdown first relief appearance of Stephen Strasburg’s career. They trailed 3-1, with Josh Hader coming to the mound. But then Nationals Postseason Hero Michael A. Taylor was hit by a pitch, Ryan Zimmerman somehow dropped in a broken bat single, and Anthony Rendon walked. Just as they had during the regular season, the Nationals had clawed back to give themselves a chance to win. And Juan Soto was at the plate. The result was bedlam. Soto’s hit, ultimately scored a single, cleared the bases after the ball rolled under Trent Grisham’s glove. (Soto said later at Nats Winterfest this was his favorite hit in the playoffs.) Three outs later, the Washington Nationals had finally advanced in the postseason. But that postseason had only just begun. National League Division Series Despite advancing, the Nats seemed to have jumped right back into the hole. They moved on to face the 106-win Dodgers and had to use everything two of their aces had just to get there. Then Game 1 was ugly and it will not be spoken of again. In Game 2, the Nationals again showed they would push all of their chips into the center of the table. Strasburg started the game on two days rest after his Wild Card relief appearance yet pitched six dominant innings, striking out ten. Max Scherzer had to ask for directions to the bullpen, but his scoreless eighth ultimately protected a 3-2 lead scratched out off Clayton Kershaw in the early innings to even the series. In Game 3, the Nationals took a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning but the three card monte strategy with the pitching staff finally backfired. Once again, the team was on the brink of elimination. It stayed alive in Game 4 behind Scherzer and a four run inning highlighted by a home run by Mr. National. They had lived to go back to Cali. Yet again, an NLDS would come down to a Game 5 for the Nationals. But in Hollywood, you can write your own script, and the ending was a blockbuster. Reset the scene. It is the eighth inning in a winner-take-all elimination game, again. The Nationals are down 3-1, again. This time, Clayton Kershaw is on the mound. And … action! Anthony Rendon and Juan Soto go back to back to tie the game, stun Kershaw, and send the game into extra innings. The tension continues to build as the Nationals load the bases. Howie Kendrick comes to the plate. And suddenly it is done. With one swing, Kendrick’s grand slam exorcises the demons in a moment so iconic in franchise history it needs a director’s cut and alternate angle to take it all in. He got the whole village. The series is all over but the celebrating. National League Championship Series The NLCS sweep of the Cardinals is less remembered for individual postseason moments, largely because for once the Nationals never dug themselves into a serious hole to climb out of. Going into the series, however, it seemed like the team (particularly the pitching staff) had fired all of its bullets and might need to rest, regroup, and reload before making progress on the Cardinals. Instead, two extraordinary pitching performances on consecutive nights dug the Cardinals into a deep hole from which they would never meaningfully recover. In retrospect, it has been little discussed that these two nights may have been the lynchpin of the entire postseason run. In Game 1, Anibal Sanchez – not previously viewed as one of the postseason workhorses of the pitching staff – took a no-hitter into the eighth inning, completed by Sean Doolittle for a one-hit road shutout after the offense did just enough to win, 2-0. In Game 2, Scherzer then took a no-hitter into the seventh. The Cardinals offense had been completely neutralized, even more remarkable since they had looked like a completely unstoppable offensive juggernaut against the Braves just three days earlier. The Nationals took Game 2 by a 3-1 score, on a home run by Nationals Postseason Legend Michael A. Taylor and Adam Eaton’s two-run double. We should also remember Howie Kendrick’s three doubles in an 8-1 Game 3 win, and the seven run first inning followed by 10 strikeouts by Patrick Corbin in Game 4, which finished off the sweep of the Cardinals with unexpected and shocking ease. The Washington Nationals had won the National League Pennant. Jubilation ensued, including with a lightsaber. Receiving the trophy, Dave Martinez reflected on the accomplishment and the long road preceding it with a simple phrase: “bumpy roads lead to beautiful places”. The 2019 World Series The World Series promised both an epic matchup against the American League champion Houston Astros and unique complications presenting a formidable challenge to the Nationals, who entered as the biggest underdogs since 2007. Games 1 and 2 They immediately put those expectations in the trash. In Game 1, the pitching matchup for the ages of Max Scherzer vs Gerrit Cole was quickly disrupted by Ryan Zimmerman’s home run, the first World Series home run in franchise history. The first pick in Washington had lived through every moment from the Natinals to the World Series, and the long road between the two immediately made for a historic moment in DC. The game was further derailed by Juan Soto. Choo choo. The Nationals’ five earned runs off Cole ultimately were enough for a tense 5-4 victory and an early series lead. Game 2 promised an equally compelling matchup of Stephen Strasburg vs Justin Verlander, largely delivered through six innings behind a dominant Strasburg, recognized by his teammates with hugs. That all changed in a six run seventh, started off by Kurt Suzuki’s home run. Suddenly, the Nationals found themselves going home with a 2-0 series lead. Games 3, 4, and 5 Games 3 and 4 were historic and significant as the first World Series games in the Nation’s Capital since 1933 and the culmination of the journey bringing baseball back to the city. In Game 3, cornerstones of the 2005 inaugural team threw out the first pitch, and there was World Series Baby Shark. But otherwise Greinke was dominant, and it sucked. Same with Game 4, except for another Baby Shark. Thanks a lot, Bregman. Suddenly, the series was tied, and even the excitement of Scherzer vs Cole Round 2 in Game 5 was suddenly taken away shortly before gametime. In lieu of a highlight from that game, please accept the third World Series Baby Shark with bonus. After a lost weekend, the Washington Nationals once again faced elimination. Game 6 Game 6 had enough twists, turns, and drama to fuel discussion for the entire offseason. But let’s start in the top of the 5th, with the Astros leading 2-1. Adam Eaton homered. Then Juan Soto homered into the second deck right after exchanging greetings with Justin Verlander. Juan further showed his admiration for Alex Bregman by carrying his bat to first base. But the moment carried all the way to the Dominican Republic. Thanks a lot, Bregman. Anyway, back to the game. With the Nats leading 3-2, Trea Turner was called out for the offense of running in a straight line to first base. Controversy ensued. Anthony Rendon then swiftly and decisively cut through the nonsense. His 2-run home run gave the Nationals a 5-2 lead and saved Rob Manfred and Joe Torre from an even bigger mess in Houston. Then Martinez was ejected while the crowd was singing the seventh inning stretch. Even then, my head immediately began to hurt thinking about how to explain all of this in this post. When all was said and done, the Nationals had once again staved off elimination, Rendon had 5 RBI, Strasburg had dominated because of some timely adjustments, the last-seen-paralyzed Scherzer had warmed and Verlander had still never won a World Series game. It would all come down to Game 7, as had been destined from the start. Game 7 In Game 7, Scherzer’s sudden scratch had unexpectedly become an ace in the hole for the Nationals, who would need him against Zack Greinke. He made it through five innings, but had staked the Astros to a 2-0 lead before being relieved by Patrick Corbin. Corbin kept them in the game, but Greinke looked unstoppable. To most observers, the Nats were running out of innings. To anyone who had watched the team all year, however, the seventh meant just the start of the workday. Anthony Rendon agreed. His home run cut the lead to 2-1. Juan Soto’s walk then set the fate of the championship in motion by chasing Greinke from the game. Nationals fans don’t remember the sight. They remember the sound. Doink. The rest is history. Howie Kendrick had brought the Washington Nationals back from behind one last time. This time, for good. Nine outs later, it was over. The Washington Nationals were World Series Champions. However improbable and miraculous, they had not just stayed in the fight, they won the fight. They won it for each other – the veterans, the kids, and everyone in between. Afterward, the celebration continued, the trophy presented, a parade held, and speeches given. The party still hasn’t stopped. In the District of Champions, it even spreads to the MVPs of other sports.
