I got version 11 of this box. It was not my favorite. The perfume smells good, but doesn’t last. I love Hask shampoo, I just wish the sample was bigger. I like the good molecules eye gel. I wish I got the brush instead of the nails. I don’t like the whitening strips. I love La Roche Posay, so I will definitely use that sample. The Gold Bond retinol cream is not good for my dry skin. The woodsy theme of Pineward has been on my radar for awhile and I tried their Spring 2026 sample pack. All the scents were -strong-, like I left my scent spray cards out in the room and when I came back after dinner the room was a full apothecary of timber. The stand out mixes for me were the ones where you have to stop and sift through the scent because the note blending is so smooth. My tastes lean woodsy/earthy and I also included some snippets from my friend who had volunteered to "co-sniff." I'm listing my favorites from the set. There were not any misses per se, but some that shone for unique takes on scent profiles. Shipping was super quick, everything was packaged securely. Their packaging is a great match for the brand, with pine cone and fir needle themed wrapping. My favorites: 5 - Ivymoss: This one was tough to separate from some association with goth club days, which was a nice nostalgic trip. It came across more spicy than the notes for me, but worked in a lovely way. Friend gave this one a mid-tier rating but I bumped it to my top pick for being such a timeless, appealing wood scent that works as a daily wear. Notes: Climbing Ivy, Green Tea, Spearmint, Lime Rind, Lemon Verbena, Waterlily, Emerald Cypress, Mugo Pine, Cedarwood, Oakmoss, Treemoss, Cedarmoss. 5 - After the Flood (Apoteker Tepe): My friend called this a balanced, updated aquatic and I agree. The earthiness and water florals make a great mix. It wanders in to the strange in a pleasant memorable way. Notes: Violet leaf, Water lily, Patchouli, Wet Earth. After the Flood is the scent of soil, water, and the delicate stirrings of undergrowth in spring. 4 - Anabasis (Apoteker Tepe): This nails that "a long travel through the woods" smell with an extra otherworldly vibe. My friend said they would ask somebody what they were wearing if they smelled this out somewhere. Notes: Shiso, Birch, Mint, Pine, Cedar, Musk. 4 - Bindebole: The green is very pronounced at the initial spray, then it settles into a classic cedar. The dry down is super comforting. My friend said it was nice that it did not go all "winter holiday" like some cedars. Notes: Poplar Bud, Pine Needles, Ambrette, Cedar. 4 - Oxylus: "A fun version of mossy" was my friend's take. It does smell very close to lying down in a forest, or that smell your clothes take on after being out camping for a weekend. Notes: Pine Needles, Juniper Scales, Vetiver, Myrtle, Soil, Swamp Water. 3 - Acadian: Has a great wild punch to it, a barrage of "do I want to eat this? no this is definitely poisonous, but I like it." The mix is so well done it takes time to pull out each scent note. While not a scent I would reach for to wear, this is one I would pull out to share with scent-obsessed friends to let them wander through the nose puzzle. Notes: Sweet Yuzu, Bergamot, Juniper Berry, Ivy, Eucalyptus, Waterlily, Goldenrod, Heliotrope, Seaweed, Cedar, Oakmoss. 3 - Hot Springs in Winter (freebie): I cannot find the notes, but this one does that wet rocks and moss feeling so well. It smells warm in the winter air. Others in the Spring 26 set. Coastal Veil: Juniper Berries, Juniper Needles, Sea Water, Bladderwrack, Coastal Cypress, Oyster Mushroom, Water Pepper, Blue Gum Eucalyptus, Pacific Ambergris, Irish Sea Moss, Sandalwood. Juniperus: Juniper Berry, Lemon Peel Absolute, Rosemary, Juniper Scale, Lavender, Juniper Wood, Sandalwood, Patchouli. Meadowmoss: Oakmoss, Alpine Sandwort, Wild grass, Green Wheat, Orange Blossom, Fir Balsam, Tomato Leaf, Azure Bluet, Mountain Wildflowers. I’ve been a GQ Box subscriber for a few years, and Spring 2026 is the first one that makes me wonder if they are slipping… or just need help with curation or better sponsors. If you got Spring 2026: did it feel weak to you right from the beginning? What did you think overall? The “big” $99 item being Sudio C8 earbuds shocked me. They are a low to mid-tier AirPods alternative. A lot of subscribers already have Apple AirPods (or solid earbuds), so it doesn’t seem like as a premium anchor item. Btw, the earbuds on some sites are listed for $40. What really adds to it is how recent the repeats feel: S’well again travel bottle… we had a nearly identical S’well bottle in the Summer 2025 box, and now we are doing another S'well already,why? Gaston Luga - the Spläsh Hip Pack was in Spring 2025, and now there’s a Gaston Luga toiletry bag that feels similar. And did anyone even like the fanny pack? Spring 2026 has the Tooletries Nail Clippers Set (~$15), but Fall 2024 already included the Men & Nails Luxury Grooming Travel Nail Kit (~$64.99) — same category, cheaper repeat. What do we think of the new Chanel Spring 2026 makeup release? It’s called The Denim Collection. It’s very Summery. I personally love the eye shadow palettes and the highlighter. The eyeshadows are a SHEER formula which is great for Spring and Summer ladies. The lipsticks are too warm and the two middle ones look Spring-ish. The most left blue lipstick looks interesting and I am curious if it has any color pay-off or if it’s just a sheer wash of color. It could be a lip topper or maybe used to cool down a too warm lip color. I certainly do not want blue lips. The lipstick on the right looks Autumn-ish. A Soft Summer might be able to pull it off. I haven’t worn blue mascara since the 1980s so that will be a hard pass for me. Nail polish is pretty for a True Summer or Cool Summer or Winter. Anyone else notice that cosmetic companies release the strangest color stories for one season when it honestly should be released in another season? Spring releases are usually Summery. Summer releases are usually Spring or Autumn. Autumn releases are sometimes Winter. Winter releases are usually soft pastels and neutrals which scream Summer and sometimes it’s actually Winter. It baffles me, and it also confuses people as to what season a collection truly belongs in. It is one of the reasons why I despise trends because all the wrong people will be wearing colors they should not wear. My husband and I have been planning a family trip to Mexico for 2 years now. We had everything booked in 2024, but our 20 year old daughter Kayla wound up having senior exams that week so we had to cancel and try to reschedule, but our reschedule credit only lasts until June of 2026. Every time we float dates 3 of our 4 kids (all adults) tell us that whatever dates we book, they’ll work with it. It’s always Kayla that has conflicts. school, sports, work…there’s always something. I finally put my foot down and scheduled for end of May - literally 1 week before our voucher expires. I looked at her school schedule online, and classes end a week before. I texted all the kids and told them. They’re all good and going to request time off - except Kayla. She said that even though school ends, her league sport doesn’t until June, plus she is jumping right into summer work and already committed to starting that week. Her father and I told her we understand, we’re sorry that she has to miss it and maybe we’ll figure out something else with just her when she graduates and her schedule becomes less chaotic. Apparently she wasn’t expecting this response and is upset that we’re still planning on going without her. She said that we can’t have a family vacation without the whole family, but my other kids are (rightfully) angry with her for trying to prevent them from going on vacation just because she doesn’t want to make the time for it. She wouldn’t lose her summer job by starting a week later, she comes and goes during breaks, it’s a family owned store so the owner just throws her on the schedule when she says she’s available. If we don’t go, we lose around $2,000 that we had prepaid for our original vacation, and our other kids will be pissed. If we do go then I’m going to feel guilty and like a shit parent for not having all my kids there. I feel like I’m in a lose lose situation. My husband says I need to let it go, parents go on trips all the time without their kids once they’re adults - but it’s the fact that 3/4 will be there that bothers me. AITA for still planning the vacation without Kayla? Edit: Thank you for all the kind words, and the swift kick in the ass to remind me that I also need to be fair to my other kids. Those who said Kayla is the youngest were spot on and she has always been a little spoiled - it’s not just me and her father who catered to her though, her brothers and sister did too because she’s always been the baby. She tends to dictate a lot of what we do, like restaurants for family dinners or when we do holiday stuff. Even now they are really sad she can’t come and trying to reassure her that missing practices and a game isn’t the end of the world. but they’re also relieved that I’m not changing my mind so we can actually go. It has opened my eyes to a couple things, like a remodel we’ve been putting off because it would eliminate Kayla’s room even though she has a year round apartment off campus. She likes to sometimes come home and stay the night (her school is a little less than an hour away), but we still have a guest room that all the kids can use if they want to stay over and she can start using that too. She also got back to me last night and said she can do spring break in March. I told her that doesn’t work for ME because I have surgery the week before and the recovery is 2ish weeks (minor, but abdominal so I definitely wouldn’t be recovered enough to go on hiking excursions and walking long periods). She claims she didn’t know that even though it was discussed in our family group chat as dates that weren’t available when we were working on nailing down schedules, so I’m seeing where I rank in priority in her life right now. It’s okay, I was 20 and in college once too, so I do get it. But the dates are final, and if she can’t come then she can’t come. I’ll miss her but I’m going to make the best of it with the kids who are there.
