Yes, a Bay Area “bucket list” request. What have I missed?
After 4 plus decades, I’m heartbroken to be leaving the Bay Area this summer. With the time we have left, with my family, I want to hit the spots that we’ve missed, and possibly weren’t even aware of. I combed the responses from previous posts and made the list below, but wanted more opinions in case there was anything quintessential or awesome & obscure that I’ve missed. I myself have done several of the things listed, but my 6 year old hasn’t. Edit to add: I have done a ton of stuff in the Bay Area (Winchester, Sonoma, Alcatraz, etc), but it’s almost impossible to list everything, so I’d rather be inundated with ideas than miss anything. Appreciate all the great suggestions, please keep them coming! - Bioluminescence kayak tour Tomales Bay - Exploratorium alcohol night - Eat in-season crab…somewhere - James Lick Observatory - Gilroy Gardens - Hakone Gardens - B&R Farms for Blenheim plums - Summer weekend in Tahoe - Gold country weekend - Walk across Golden Gate Bridge - Go to El Faralito - Arzimendi Bakery - Hike Mt Tam/Marin headlands - Fentons Creamery - Concert in Stern grove - Rosicrucian Museum - Picnic in Golden Gate Park - Ferry ride to Sausalito - Muir Woods - Big Sur - Salesforce Park - Japantown submitted by /u/justpassingthru_1992 to r/bayarea [link] [comments]

Went into the guys' bathroom at my campus and was surprised
So today at my summer school campus, there was no one around in the hallway where I'm walking, and I see the restrooms up ahead. I held my breath and ended up going into the guy's bathroom out of curiosity. Just wanted to say that the men's bathroom was pretty disappointing in comparison. I was honestly really surprised, because it was literally less than half the size of our bathroom (at that building anyway) and I was just thinking, "Wait, that's it?". I also ended up crossing off my bucket list of using a urinal, which was definitely an 'experience' (an extremely nerve-wracking one). Right as I was exiting, I got caught and bumped into someone about to walk in. We both just froze and stared at each other, before looking at the sign. I apologized and the guy was very understanding and told me not to worry about it, which was sweet, even though I felt pretty guilty. (I'm absurdly fortunate he didn't walk in earlier. I have absolutely no clue what I would've done if that happened lol). Tl;dr: Surprised at the massive size difference between the women's and men's bathroom when I went to check it out. Is that more of an exception or the rule? submitted by /u/IWannaHideThrowaway to r/confession [link] [comments]

Lifelong Chili fan, I am (finally) knocking off my #2 Bucket List item and trying some Cincinnati Chili. What is the best way & place to experience Skyline Chili?
I am originally from New England, and I grew up on Old El Paso products...so I am no snob, by any means. I live in Texas now, big Chili fan, and have been making it for 20 years. On a long ass Roadtrip last summer, I got to try 'Green Chili' or (New Mexico / Colorado) Green Pork Stew and loved it. TBH, I always thought Cincy Skyline Chili was crazy-looking (all that cheese!!!) but I'll be there in a few days and am looking forward to trying it, in every form available. Can anyone recommend the best way/place to experience Cincy Skyline Chili? It seems like Skyline Chili (and a mix of dogs/spaghetti chili) is the best. This video seems to cover all of the styles/choices, despite the Megan Markle host. Any particular recommendations? submitted by /u/Bosuns_Punch to r/cincinnati [link] [comments]

Summer bucketlist
Hi gals! As part of my journey to heal my inner child or whatever, last summer I made a good ol summer bucket list like my friends and I always did when we were kids. It was honestly so much fun and it made me do so much over the summer instead of just go to work and watch tv. I tried a lot of new things too. I want to do it again but need more inspo for ideas of things to put on it. Some examples of what I did last year: swim in the ocean, jump off a rope swing into water, try a new recipe, go to a farmers market, learn how to play pickleball, etc. What’s your favorite thing to do in the summer now or when you were a kid? submitted by /u/iceprincess444 to r/TheGirlSurvivalGuide [link] [comments]

How do I take this bucket list trip?
I have stage 4 cancer. I'm not dying yet, but the treatment I was on stopped working, and now I am trying other treatments. Having said all that, my family and I (husband, and 3 kids -9,10,17), may not get a lot more time to travel all the places we wanted to see before I'm gone. I have never been to Europe, and I've always dreamed of visiting London, Paris, Berlin, and Rome (or Venice or Tuscany), and eating my way through the continent! I am wondering if there is a way to visit all those places with 5 people in 2-3 weeks. Train? River Cruise? What's the best way to get around? Is there a way to get help planning this kind of trip? Places to eat? Basically everything? We are looking at a budget of $35,000 ($6k per person). Edit: to answer a few questions I am from the US (Denver, CO). The soonest we'd want to go is probably the fall. My kids get a week off in October. But if we should try and do next summer, that would give us even more time to plan. Edit 2: you guys are so amazing! You've given me the confidence to know we CAN make this trip, even if the thought of planning it is quite overwhelming! I'm the kind of person who usually does all inclusive because I don't like to have to figure out every detail! I'll likely take the suggestion of many of you to reach out to a travel agent and see what they suggest. Seems to be the smart move! Edit: I got more messages and comments overnight than I have ever gotten before! Thank you all. It will take me a while to sift through. But this is why I love Reddit! When someone needs help, you all show up! Edit: a lot of you have been saying to take the trip sooner. Unfortunately, I'm currently getting chemo every 3 weeks until the end of April, which means I feel pretty crappy 2 weeks out of the month. So I can't plan the trip until I know how I'm going to feel when my chemo is done. I really want to hold out until October so it won't be so hot, and I'll know where I'm at as far as how I'm feeling. I know it's a risk that I won't be well enough. If things get to that point, I'll probably cash in my 401k and just go! submitted by /u/smartypants333 to r/travel [link] [comments]

My 100 - Seasonal bucket list
I’m using my 100 to list out some easy seasonal activities to get away from my screen/go outside more in 2025. Any other suggestions to fill in the rest? submitted by /u/g1nxv3rm0uth to r/hobonichi [link] [comments]

Swam the English Channel a couple of weeks ago. 12 hours, 20 minutes. Avg water temp 63-64* F. A bucket list swim that I really enjoyed
This was my eight ratified marathon swim and the second of my “Triple Crown” swims (I did Catalina last summer) I feel like the English Channel is such a “thing” in this sport that I wanted to post some thoughts and offer to answer any questions to anyone training for it/curious about it. I signed up to do this swim in 2022 and got a first positions for September 2024. For those who are unfamiliar, the Channel books in a “position” system where you are given a window of time for your swim and then given a priority in that window. As weather allows, your position gets its turn in the window to go swim. I got to Dover for the start of my window and ended up having to sit around for about a week due to bad weather. After quite a bit of waiting we ended up with a beautiful day. Some rough waters at the very beginning and again from hours 7-9ish, but for the most part it was fairly smooth: I ended up doing just over 25 miles of swimming. The last push into France took forever because of strong currents, but I was able to maintain a steady pace/stroke count for the entire swim and just had to be patient in closing out the last mile or two. Overall, I felt very well prepared for the swim and loved the experience. I really just tried to go out there and be present, enjoy the moment, and be thankful for the opportunity. In terms of difficulty, I would say Catalina was a much harder swim for me despite being slightly shorter and taking me about an hour less time to complete. submitted by /u/GatorAndrew to r/OpenWaterSwimming [link] [comments]

[Plan] Summer bucket lists? Let's get pumped!
I've noticed that I always push tons of activities into the summertime, and then end up cruising through without doing anything exciting at all. Well, I just spent a good hour sorting out the things I really want to try before drowning my soul in flashcards this upcoming fall. Not sure if sharing what I want to do will increase or decrease my motivation to actually get these things done, but right now I'm super pumped! What do you say? You show me yours and I'll show you mine? submitted by /u/babyhermit to r/getdisciplined [link] [comments]
