A summer cruise we booked with balcony and Premier Package 1 1/2 years ago was $2699pp including port fees and taxes. Final payment is this month. Same cruise now is $6020pp. That is a whopping 223% increase. WOW!!!

RE:“Sovereign Citizens”
We see this a lot in the UK. People spend too much time down some algorithm rabbit hole and believe all the quasi legal mumbo jumbo. We also get people claiming to be a 'Freeman of the Land" who aren't therefor bound by statute laws to which they explicitly consent, arguing they can opt out of legal obligations like taxes or legal punishments. It's become somewhat of a joke.

So y'all pay taxes or do you not?
I'm around $1,253.29 in gross payout via paypal (mostly made since the 22nd). Which I'd assume is the number to even base 'taxes' on. And I keep track just-incase, but as far as it is now. I'm just not doing anything about it. If I do I'll have to ask one of my parents about it though. Cause I'm not familiar with any of that. So, I'm really just asking if you do or don't concern about it. Or when should I make it a concern of mine? Thanks. I also work a job for minimum wage, but with my job all of that is accounted for by itself. submitted by /u/Trusteveryboody to r/ProlificAc [link] [comments]

Curious about taxes ?
Hey! I’m new to DA & I plan to do it quite often. I’m a full time teacher and plan to do DA as well 3-7 hours a day. I’m in California and know I have to put money aside for taxes since it is gonna be a 1099. I’ve read 20% and I’ve read 40%. I decided on a middle of 30%. I know we can use deductions for things like internet services, but I guess I would just like to know if 30% is valid. As a teacher I don’t get paid during summer and breaks so DA is awesome, just want to make sure I don’t owe more than what I have during tax season. Thanks in advance :-) submitted by /u/chiibabee to r/DataAnnotationTech [link] [comments]

Friend hasn't filed taxes in 10 years
My friend hasn't filed taxes in approximately 10 years but wants to start filing now and get squared up for past years as well. We're pretty sure he would have gotten a refund for each of those years, so he's not owing a huge amount or anything. He tried to file digitally, but it requested the AGI for the previous year, which he obviously doesn't have. Is there somewhere online where he can start the process? Can he retroactively get the refund for previous years or is that money basically gone? Does he need to physically go to the IRS in order to get the process started? Any advice appreciated. submitted by /u/Diethoc to r/personalfinance [link] [comments]

Help with US TAXES
Can someone please walk me through, step by step how to report prolifc on my taxes? For context I’m in Michigan and earned roughly 2-3k through prolific in 2025. Do I/how do I report this when doing my taxes? There doesn’t seem to be an easy way to get a tax form from prolific or PayPal? Also, how do you account for the pounds to dollars conversion? Thank you! submitted by /u/Carly__88 to r/ProlificAc [link] [comments]

Don't stress too much over taxes
just finished filing my taxes for 2025 and wanted to share some thoughts. My total W-2 income was 195k (though employer put another $11k directly into 401k) and my total taxes ended up being 18.5%, which I honestly don't think is too bad - the break down is as follows: 8.4% Fed 3.1% California 5.6% SS 1.4% Medicare I see lots of people stressing out about being "destroyed" by taxes, trying to move out of "tax hellhole" like CA, or feeling like taxes are holding them back financially, but honestly, this seems like a non-issue to me. Now would I prefer to keep all of it? sure, but I don't feel it's going to make or break my retirement either way 5.6% to max out SS is honestly not a bad investment in lifetime annuity with COLA, nor is Medicare a bad system to maintain for the cost I haven't taken any crazy deductions either - decent health insurance reduces Fed, CA and FICA, maxed out pre-tax 401k reduces Fed and CA. MFJ and got the child credit this year my income is going up 7%, some of it is absorbed by increased brackets, plus I've added maxed out HSA and will do traditional IRA for my spouse, so taxes will probably stay about the same and the effective rate might even go slightly down every projection that I run lands me in 8-10% effective rate in retirement - once FICA goes away with no earned income it gets really easy and that's on very decent income of $10,000 spendable per month with a very rough pre-tax/Roth/taxable mix annual reminder to update your Fed and State W-4 if you are getting a big refund - better to keep that cash invested! submitted by /u/Spare_Ad8851 to r/Bogleheads [link] [comments]
