I’m so completely devastated. I had braces for four years and was finally happy with my teeth for the first time in my life. Got them whitened (few months later) before I got the crown put on my implant, now I feel like I’ve completely ruined them. Clearly I had some damage while I had braces but you couldn’t see it anywhere but one of the canines before (it was really dried out all the time before braces bc of positioning). Do you think it will go away? It was only about 36 hours ago. I think it looks worse in person. I can’t live with the uncertainty. I’m so mad and sad that my dentist didn’t warn me. I even asked him if this could happen to me, I’m so so nervous about messing them up. Surely I shouldn’t have to push for further answers when I already asked about it? My whole family is a bit of a mess. I live with my mother, my mother’s husband, and their son. My mother is also pregnant with his child again. I’m not his child. I don’t know if this is the right way to explain it, but my mother was part of an affair that my father had on his wife. My mother was twenty two when I was born. My father was twenty nine, which makes me a bit uncomfortable. His family hates me, especially his wife. They have other children but I don’t really see them. I see my father sometimes, but I don’t know how I feel about him. My mother married her husband maybe about three years ago. Their son is two years old now. And now my mother is pregnant again. And I don’t think I’m happy about that. I want to be happy for her. She’s happy. Her husband is happy. Even their son is happy. But I don’t think I am. I don’t technically get treated differently to their son. I get the things that I want, probably excessively so. But my mother’s husband, I don’t know how I feel about him. He treats me like his child in some ways, but not in the good ways. Since they married, he fusses about what I wear, says some things look bad, and that they’ll make him look bad and make other people think things. I’m not allowed to do my hair in certain ways or do my makeup in certain ways or wear certain types of earrings or wear certain things because he says I shouldn’t be trying to look sexy because I’m a child. And my mother agrees with him every time. I’m not trying to look like that, I just want to feel pretty sometimes. All my friends get to do that, and I’m not allowed to. I’m not even allowed to have a boyfriend, and it’s not fair. My friends can if they want, a lot of them do, and some of them even have girlfriends. And I don’t get that. It feels like I get to do everything, but at the same time, nothing at all. I have to highlight my hair so it’s not dark in the winter, I have to get my nails done in a certain way, even my teeth whitened, just so I ‘appear better’. My mother loves it, and says I look beautiful, but I don’t know. The things I want to do, I can’t, but the things I don’t want to do, I have to do. I know I probably wasn't enough for my mother. That she probably wants to have a family with someone she probably loves, and that I was just the inconvenient accident that ended up ruining everything in some ways. But I just want her to stop with all of this. I hate getting told about what I have to do to look better, while also not getting to do the things that actually makes me feel pretty sometimes. I don't dress badly, I never would, I don't want to look bad, but they have different ideas about what is appropriate for me and what isn't, and it isn't fair. My mother never used to act like this and tell me about what I can or can't wear, because I was always appropriate and I still am. But now she doesn't think I am, or her husband. I am an 19 year old male, I consider myself a pretty confident guy but if there was 1 big insecurity I have its my teeth color.. I wouldn't say I have completely yellow teeth but they can be much whiter.. Some very quick backround.. i was a very very lazy kid growing up and would skip brushing my teeth for weeks and even months at a time sometime.. yes i know its disgusting but it happened until i started to like this a girl and really wanted to upgrade my hygiene.. So at the time I was about 15 turning 16 and heard of Opalescence Go which I wanted to try and I did.. I ended up doing about 5 out of the 10 trays they provide but didn't see much result and decided to give up as I was still lazy, it also ended up hurting my teeth a bit so i just stopped.. after that i gave up with products cause i was to lazy to look into it and just decided to brush my teeth.. fast forward to now.. like i mentioned I have been brushing my teeth regularly twice a day now but they are still yellowish.. i am a confident guy but my teeth are an insecurity.. i don't really eat that many staining foods id say, i do have tea a good bit but don't drink coffee whatsoever, I also recently tried doing a course of the crest whitening strips and they didn't help at all. So I'm just kinda lost at the moment What is some advice to get them whiter? I am considering giving Opalescence Go another chance? Or in all honesty should I just bite the bullet and pay a dentist to whiten my teeth professionally even though its going to come out to way more price wise..
