portfolio platform
Hi everyone, I’m an Experience Design student in the final phase of my studies. I have an idea to create an interactive 2D portfolio where my work is showcased in a room-like environment. Visitors would be able to click on each piece to get more information about it. I imagine it like a 2D room you can move through from one end to the other, somewhat in a style similar to Toca Boca, if that helps as a comparison. My question is: what platform would be best to create something like this? I was thinking about Figma, but I feel like there might be better options that I’m not aware of. I’d really appreciate any suggestions or ideas! Thanks in advance! submitted by /u/Nonamenisrine to r/graphic_design [link] [comments]

Midtown apartments suggestion?
1st, just for fun cause I love how they turned out, this is one of my ocs for toca boca, Peep! :) Second, any suggestions for what I could do with the first floor for the midtown apartments? I thought of doing a mini café but I'm not sure, all I know is I don't particularly wanna make it a record store lol I've seen some people turn the basement into the apartment laundry room which is honestly a good idea, I'll take suggestions for that one too, though! :) submitted by /u/doge_bread_27 to r/tocaboca [link] [comments]

REMEMBER: Most Battlefield 6 Developers Never Worked on Battlefield Games Before
Rizible, whom 80 Level can confirm is indeed a former DICE employee, provided some clarification about their Bluesky thread, helping us separate facts from educated guesses. Following the commercial and reputational underperformance of Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042, it became clear to everyone that DICE and Electronic Arts would need to rethink their approach to the legendary FPS series if they wanted to prevent it from becoming a thing of the past. The extent of the changes to their strategy has recently been unveiled by a former DICE employee, known as Rizible, who shared a wealth of information about the studio's inner dealings and speculated about the upcoming Battlefield 6 and plans for the franchise as a whole. To address the elephant in the room upfront: although the report was shared anonymously, 80 Level can confirm that Rizible is indeed a former DICE employee with knowledge of the studio's behind-the-scenes operations, however, as per the author's request, their identity will remain undisclosed. We did manage to contact Rizible directly for further discussion about the thread, and they generously provided additional insights to help distinguish concrete facts from assumptions. The author shared that the thread in question was intended as a way to vent frustration about EA's Investors Day 2024 presentation, embedded above, which they described as speaking "into the void," given their Bluesky account had only around 10 followers at the time. Rizible clarified that the insights shared in the thread include a combination of facts, educated guesses, and speculations, so despite the author's personal experience with DICE, these claims should be taken with a grain of salt. In the thread, the ex-employee stated that 98% of the people who worked on previous Battlefield games have since left EA, however, Rizible clarified that this figure was a hyperbole rather than a definitive percentage, meant to emphasize the significant departure of senior leaders and veterans from the studio and franchise. Most of these individuals have joined other studios, particularly Embark Studios, which attracted many artists, engine developers, R&D specialists, and creative talents such as Magnus Nordin, Rob Runesson, Stefan Strandberg, Patrick Söderlund, and Aleks Grondal, as well as TTK Games, founded in 2023 by Battlefield's former Creative Director Lars Gustavsson and later joined by Daniel Berlin, Vidar Nygren, and Peter Hoyles. The list also includes other game studios with a presence in Stockholm like Activision Blizzard, Ubisoft, Fatshark, Toca Boca, Avalanche, Paradox, Starbreeze, and others. Rizible also mentioned that Matt Webster, the former head of Criterion, left after the launch of NFS Unbound to start his own studio, Fuse Games, which has attracted several senior-level employees from Criterion. This is notable because, besides DICE, Criterion is now also involved in the production of Battlefield, alongside Ripple Effect and Motive, meaning there may be even fewer senior talents working on Battlefield 6. The thread continues by suggesting that EA's plan is to make Battlefield more akin to the Call of Duty series, which involves releasing a new AAA-priced game annually, with a limited single-player campaign, and packed with "seasons, battle passes, and live-service slop." As explained by Rizible, this is not a confirmed direction but rather an educated guess based on a plan EA had in place during their time at the company, and it could have already been altered by higher-ups since then. "When I was still at DICE, the plan was for DICE, Ripple, and Ridgleline (the now-defunct Seattle studio) to work on the franchise together, with annual releases as a long-term goal (not an immediate goal)," Rizible told 80 Level. "Ridgeline would do single-player, DICE would do multiplayer, and Ripple would work on some sort of F2P Battle Royale (or similar experience). Industrial Toys would work on BF mobile separately since EA manages mobile tiles through a different part of their organization. The original, three studio plan had a long-term roadmap to go from a 3-year dev cycle, down to 2, then eventually to annual releases. There are numerous, perceived, business advantages to the CoD model. Given that Vince and specifically Byron come from Activision/COD, it seems logical to me that this is still their eventual goal. Personally, I don't think they'll get to annual releases for several years." Moreover, the former employee discussed Battlefield 6's potential release window, predicting that the next game might arrive in October 2025. "Logically, it's been 4 years since 2042's launch. Given EA's massive reorg and providing extra dev time for the COVID pandemic, 2025 seems like it's the right time for the next game, given the franchise release history," Rizible noted. The author further speculated that the next mainline game after BF6 – let's call it Battlefield 7 – will not be released in 2026. This is based on the previously mentioned three-studio roadmap, which had a gradual ramp-up to annual releases, and it's likely that the current four-studio roadmap follows a similar pattern. "If things work out, I think they'll eventually ship annual titles, but no idea how long that will take," commented the author. "EA loves the idea of annual releases because CoD has proven it is extremely lucrative and EA knows firsthand about the value of annual launches due to their annual sports games." In the end, Rizible recommended that Battlefield fans "temper their expectations," as the series has entered a new era with new people at the helm, whose philosophy differs from that of DICE's previous team, and whether that's a good thing or not depends on one's own personal perspective. "To be clear, I have low faith in EA leadership treating the BF franchise with much love or respect. I don't have any bad feelings towards all of the people at the EA studios who are making the game," Rizible told us. "BF is a franchise I've loved since high school, and I get pissed at the EA leadership who, I feel, are not making good decisions for the franchise and the fans. While I have low expectations for the next game (due to bad leadership), I truly hope that the next game will be a hit and revitalize things." https://80.lv/articles/a-sizeable-portion-of-battlefield-6-developers-never-worked-on-battlefield-games-before https://metro.co.uk/2025/01/20/battlefield-6-rumour-claims-98-series-developers-left-22395351/ +++ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLnTsG-uo34 After leaving DICE, the team founded Embark Std (2018) that same year, released Finals (2023) for free, which became famous for its destruction mechanics, and is now making waves with Arc Riders (2025). Let's take a look at what their previous roles were. Patrick Söderlund — Founder & CEO (Embark) He was CEO at DICE, then became an executive vice president (EVP) at EA Games after the studio was acquired by EA. He was the key figure behind series like Battlefield, Mirror’s Edge, and Star Wars: Battlefront. He played a major role in game engine technologies (especially the Frostbite Engine). He left EA, dissatisfied with the corporate structure, to build a “more free, experimental” team. --- Stefan Strandberg — Creative Director, Embark He was the Creative Director for Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4 at DICE. He is known as the architect of the war atmosphere, destruction physics, and environmental interaction systems. At Embark, he guides the creative vision for The Finals. --- Johan Andersson — Technology Director, Embark He was the lead architect of the Frostbite Engine at DICE. In other words, he was the brain behind that famous engine that powers nearly all of EA's games. At Embark, he is the one rebuilding the engine technology from scratch. --- Robyn Delmott — Art Director, Embark She worked in the art department at DICE, where she stood out particularly in the environmental design process for Battlefield V. At Embark, she leads the artistic vision, specifically defining the visual style of ARC Raiders. --- Gustav Tilleby — Technical Art Director, Embark Worked on the rendering side of the Frostbite engine at DICE. Currently building the technical art structure for Embark's own game engine. These names are those of the team leaders who left at the time; who knows how many people were in the lower ranks. Don't overload devs and help them learn (: submitted by /u/gasamove to r/Battlefield [link] [comments]

I want whimsy and whimsical in tocaboca!
I love Toca Boca, and I've played it for quite awhile, I love the mystical small items they have in the game, such as mermaid tails and outfits, the elves, the unicorn, the haunted house, the evil scientist, and superhero items, but to me it is NOT enough, I would love a new area in toca boca that's themed to the whimsy and whimsical fantasy side of toca Boca! Areas would be in this area: -A beautiful Castle:Three stories with throne room, princess bedroom, dungeons, references to different princesses -A gingerbread house:One story, Hansel and Gretel idea! -Neighbor hood area (kinda like the set up top of the recording building): themed with different nursery rhyme houses; The woman and the shoe, Goldilocks and the three bears, the three little pigs. -Fairy/elven forest -a beautiful forest perfect for elves and small houses for fairies (crumpets as well!) submitted by /u/ShadyFrogAgent to r/tocaboca [link] [comments]

Do a Build challenge! Challenge yourself to do a build challenge with any house of your choosing! You can do any type of challenge from "Each room is a different color" to "Each room is a different movie!" the sky's the limit with build challenges, you can also challenge yourself to make an interesting house with items that you hate! Create a Collectors home! This is your home for all things you collect in tocaboca, with it either being the different gemstones, the key cards and keys to unlock different hidden areas around toca boca, or just for crumpets! It will make the collecting of the items alot more fun! I've made one in the past for crumpets using the dollhouses and house shelfs as homes for the crumpets to live in making a tiny town for them! Create a store! You don't have to have all the packs to create a store! You can make any store you like ranging from simple to name brands. Here are some store ideas: Furniture store, Plushie Store, Squishy store, Clothing store, Electronic Store, Book store, Comic book store, Game Store. Give a place in tocaboca a makeover! Give a random place in toca boca a makeover! It can be anywhere of your choosing! Make it in any style you would want it to look like! (with limitations of course-) Do a clothing challenge! With the recent update to create clothes of your own create clothes with a clothing challenge, similar to the build challenge with clothes being one color, or a certain aesthic, or theme. Explore the map and find hidden secret areas! There is so many hidden areas and secrets to explore, that give crumpets, and items to those that play them. My personal favorite is the waterfall that surprises us with elves and a unicorn! submitted by /u/ShadyFrogAgent to r/tocaboca [link] [comments]

IDEAS FOR NEW LOCATIONS IN TOCA LIFE WORLD
Hi! There are two locations that I’ve messaged Toca Boca about that I think would be so cool — feel free to share yours too! CASTLE: A royal location fit with a princess tower, a throne room, a drawbridge, a dungeon and a dragon. Cloud location up in the sky, everything would be puffy and light-neutral colored. submitted by /u/newsnuggets to r/tocaboca [link] [comments]

Upstairs School - if you go to the school in avatar world you see there's stairs, but we still can't go upstairs, i imagine the upstairs school would have a Science Lab, Music Room and Art Room Froggy Daycare - there's a frog door in the daycare, but we still can't go inside it, i'm still not sure what could be in there Airport - this might be coming soon, since the metro station has a billboard and there's a picture of two girls on what seems to be a beach and there's an airplane in the background Cinema - this might also coming soon, since on the world map (outside the locations where you can see all the building) there's a cinema thingy above the metro station Update The Hospital - the hospital in avatar world doesn't have much stuff compared to other games like toca boca world, maybe they can add an X-ray machine, a Dentist Office and an Eye Doctor Office, although the last two could be added as their own locations Vet - we have a doctor for the people so why not have one for the pets? Animation For putting on Earrings - we have animations for taking them off. so why not animations for putting them on? Animations For Taking Glasses Off And Putting Them On - it would be cool to have animations for taking glasses off and putting them on and would make the game feel more life-like Mermaid Tail And Unicorn Horn - mermaid tail and unicorn horn as items in the character creator these are my ideas, what do you think? submitted by /u/South_Introduction94 to r/AvatarWorld_CityLife [link] [comments]
