I designed a 240W USB 3.2 PD hub from scratch
I couldn't find a hub to do what I wanted so made my own. It is a 4 port USB-C hub which supports 60W PD per port and USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10Gbps) data at the same time. So you can transfer data and charge devices at the same time. Is this something people would be interested in? If so you can learn more about it here. Other features: Fully independent USB PD per port. Detachable host cable (USB-C). Machined aluminium housing with integrated heatsink. Expansion connector (ability to add display and IoT modules etc). Port power LEDs submitted by /u/joshr120 to r/UsbCHardware [link] [comments]

USB hub purchase, need advice !
Ahoy hoy. So I bought a cheap powder usb hub. Seemed fine, then I made a flag box and thought I messed it up because the led’s would work once then go haywire. Looked it up and it could be a power issue. After being sure it was due to my dogshit soldering as I’m just learning, I thought I should plug it into my pc hub actual and it worked fine (fuck yeah me honestly, I’m not good at this stuff normally) SO, I’m too broke to keep buying stuff twice and am wondering if a Sabrent powered usb hub could power all 7 of its ports? I’ll have a couple simple button boxes, 2 or 3 8x8 led grids and maybe another one or two sim peripherals. Thanks you! submitted by /u/batmancdn55 to r/simracing [link] [comments]

Looking for a good usb hub
Hello, i'll get a BIG desk soon and i would like a very good usb hub to put my keyboard, mouse and things like that close to me, as the computer in itself will be pretty far away and the desk will be like 90cm in depth. when looking for that i've always found usb-s hub or hub with short cable. so yeah for now not what i want. Bonus point if it's okay looking wise, because it will be in the center of the desk (i want usb port easily available) submitted by /u/Xochaka to r/DeskCableManagement [link] [comments]

Stop Worrying About USB Hubs, Here’s What Actually Matters
So I recently ran into the classic PC builder problem: not enough USB ports. I game, stream, and basically run a mini production studio out of my desk, so I needed ports for my stream deck, mic, mixer, controllers, the whole shebang. Naturally, I freaked out after reading a few horror stories online about USB hubs frying motherboards. Spoiler: that almost never happens these days. Here’s the deal: cheap, poorly made powered hubs were a problem back in the USB 2.0 era because they could push too much juice into your board. Modern hubs, especially quality ones, are totally safe. I personally stick to powered hubs with switches for each port. Makes life easy when you want to turn off a device without unplugging it. If you’re really paranoid or want a cleaner setup, PCIe USB expansion cards are a lifesaver. They integrate into your motherboard, giving you extra ports without the mess of a giant hub dangling off your desk. Flight sim and racing sim communities use hubs all the time without a single issue, so if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for your setup. One pro tip: don’t just buy the cheapest RGB-powered hub or random knockoff. Invest in something solid from a brand you trust. Even if a hub dies, it’s usually the hub that goes, not your PC. I’ve had a $10 Amazon hub running multiple devices for years with zero problems. Long story short: powered hubs aren’t dangerous, cheap knockoffs just sometimes fail. Use quality gear, consider a PCIe card if you want a cleaner setup, and enjoy having all your devices plugged in without panic. submitted by /u/Nicolas_Laure to r/RigBuild [link] [comments]

The best USB hub for simracing
Hi all, At some point in this hobby you will need a usb hub or maybe you have a motherboard that doesn’t have a lot of usb ports. Well I think I found the best usb hub for sim racing. It has 10 ports with individual power switches. I stuck it to the leg of my standing desk so that it can move up and down with it. It can connect to your pc with usb-c or usb-a. Since I use my pc for normal games as well as sim racing, one problem that I run into is the sim racing equipment getting detected as controllers in non racing games. Well as you can see in the last picture I can unplug the usb-a part of the hub cord and this way everything is disconnected and the cable is ready to be plugged back in with easy access. The only problem is that I believe it is only carried by Microcenter so it’s not as easy to get one. https://www.microcenter.com/product/697068/10_port_USB_Type-A_30_hub?_gl=1*1jl7n50*_gcl_au*MTk2MDczNzU0Mi4xNzY2NDIwMzAw*_ga*MTI5OTM2NDY4NC4xNzU4NDk3NDIy*_ga_CSBPEX4VCV*czE3NjY0MjAzMDAkbzU3JGcxJHQxNzY2NDIwNjgzJGo0NiRsMSRoNzI5Mzc4MTA0 submitted by /u/new_socks9000 to r/simracing [link] [comments]

USB hub for wireless peripherals
Guys Bois, so I game on a legion laptop it comes with only 2 USB A ports. I have 3 key wiress peripherals - mouse, kb and headset that I just got. I was a bit skepticle to use an usb hub, thinking it might effect polling rates or latency, and also came across this older post on reddit about a user complaining about latency on his g304 which connected to an umUSB hub. I was your feedback or suggestions. Does your device lag when it is connected to a hub? Does quality of the hub matter? I do not play much, but when I do, I grind in CS2. Attaching the usb hub that I am thinking to purchase and the reddit post that I came across recently. submitted by /u/KyleIsSl3epy to r/IndianGaming [link] [comments]

Is it ok to use a USB HUB to connect everything on the rig to PC?
My PC is 3 meters away from my rig and can't be moved. At the moment I have 3 DP cables and 1 USB (wheel&pedals) runnig through my room which are a lot of cables but manageable. Thinking about getting a dashboard+iflag+buttonbox. Now, to avoid a thousands cables lying on the floor I thought about using a good quality powered USB HUB to stick under the pedals plate and connect all the stuff there. I understand this is not IDEAL but is it doable or "hell to the naw"? I've seen something like this: https://preview.redd.it/esaqvaqmia6f1.png?width=1132&format=png&auto=webp&s=67fb484e068253e309f7e68d327ee056cac4c7dd submitted by /u/Comprehensive-Ant289 to r/simracing [link] [comments]
