I’ve been going down the rabbit hole on VR lately, trying to figure out what actually qualifies as the best setup you can get right now if money isn’t a factor. It feels like there’s a lot of debate depending on what you prioritize—raw graphical fidelity, tracking precision, standalone convenience, or just overall immersion. On one side, you’ve got high-end PCVR setups that push visuals and performance to the limit, especially when paired with a powerful PC. On the other, there are newer standalone headsets that are way more convenient but might sacrifice some visual quality or depth. Then there’s the whole discussion around game libraries—some platforms seem to have way better support and variety than others. I’m also curious how much accessories and add-ons actually matter in pushing something from “really good” to “best possible experience.” Stuff like upgraded straps, full-body tracking, base stations, haptics, etc.—at what point does it really make a difference? Sorry, I know this question gets asked a lot, but I have something more specific in mind. Which VR headset would you guys say is the most WORTH it in terms of what you get for what you pay? I don't really have a strict budget and I'm willing to spend enough to get something really good, but I don't really know what to get. I'll mostly use it for Blade and Sorcery, open world games (I really want to play the Elden Ring VR mod) and just general PC usage. It will be my first VR headset too. What matters the most to me is probably display quality and refresh rate. I'll have it plugged in the whole time, so battery important at all. what do you guys use and how much did you pay for it? I'd really appreciate some recommendations! Edit: I ended up just getting a Quest 3. Thank you all for the recommendations though, I feel like I learned a lot reading your comments! I think _476_ad_ summarized it the best in the comments: Pico 4 Ultra - $599 - pretty similar option to the Quest 3, but more oriented towards PCVR and PC usage in general Quest 3 - $499 - honestly the best option or most people - pancake lenses, solid library of games, and wireless PCVR just works. I'm currently playing the Elden ring VR mod with it and it's so f*cking cool PSVR2 + PC adapter - $459 total - wired only so no battery bullshit, fresnel lenses are not the best, BUT it's got OLED so blacks and colors actually pop Steam Frame - $699+ - pretty similar to specs look very good but it's not released yet. it's similar to the Quest 3, but lighter, better binocular overlap, foveated streaming and has easier setup. I’ve been trying a few different VR setups lately and the experience really depends on the headset. Resolution, field of view, and comfort make a big difference when it comes to immersive adult content and VR companion experiences. From what I’ve seen so far: Quest 3 – probably the best balance right now. Much sharper than Quest 2 and easy to use. Pico 4 – good clarity and wide FOV, feels more immersive than some older headsets. Quest 2 – still works, but the lower resolution is noticeable. PCVR setups – best visual quality overall, but more expensive and more setup. For anyone exploring VR companions or immersive video, upgrading from older headsets can make a pretty big difference.
