Plastic free water shoes
Hi everyone I’m wondering if you have any recommendations for water shoes/ sandals for kids? Looking for something that is plastic free and made with natural fibres or leather. Tried to drive through floodwater, got eaten by a croc. Full story below.
Police use a helicopter to lift a crocodile containing the remains of a 59-year-old man. Authorities in South Africa suspected the reptile had eaten the man after tracking it with drones. They shot the crocodile and transported it by air. Once back on the ground, they cut open the crocodile and discovered human body parts inside. The remains are thought to belong to 59-year-old Gabriel Batista, who had earlier been carried off by strong floodwaters. Inside the animal, they found his ring along with six additional pairs of shoes, which officials worry could belong to other missing people. On Monday, Batista reportedly attempted to drive across a flooded bridge to reach his hotel and bar, but he and his truck were washed into the water. He was then carried downriver, where crocodiles were lying in wait. It’s not known whether Batista was still alive when eaten, but officials believe other crocodiles may have consumed the rest of his remains. submitted by /u/VIVIDUFF to r/interesting [link] [comments]

Water shoes that are also comfortable to walk in?
When snorkeling, diving, or being anywhere near water I usually like to have water shoes with me, but most those water shoes I can't do anything else like walking, hiking, etc with them because they are just not built for anything besides "water & swimming" I was looking at options like xero water shoes or some other variations of the vibram five finger, but was curious if anyone has any other recommendations! :) submitted by /u/Mewtewpew to r/onebag [link] [comments]

Recommendations for water shoes for use a few weeks each year?
Just curious if anyone can recommend water shoes they've really liked for relatively short-term use each year. We like to explore a bit in walkable areas as well as beach/shallow water exploring. I see a bunch from brands I recognize (e.g. keen, morrell) but don't want to spend $80+ since we'll only be on the beach for a week or so at a time, once or twice a year. We got to the local beach a few times a year & travel to a beach location on vacation for a week maybe once a year, so I'm not looking for something "disposable" (as some reviews note that the really cheap ones just fall apart after a few days of use) but would like to spend maybe $20-30 or less. Any recommendations appreciated! submitted by /u/oandroido to r/snorkeling [link] [comments]

What’s the best water shoes for men for beaches, rivers and slippery rocks?
I’m looking for decent water shoes for this summer and I’m tired of the cheap ones that feel like wet socks and start falling apart after a few trips. I need something I can use for: Rocky beaches and tide pools Walking in rivers/creeks without destroying my feet Occasional kayak or paddle board days Ideally they should have good grip on wet rocks, drain water quickly, and not feel like they’re sliding off my heel every two steps. I’d also prefer something that doesn’t look completely ridiculous if I wear them from the car to the water. For the guys who spend a lot of time around water, what shoes have actually held up and kept your feet safe and comfortable? submitted by /u/Vomderpee to r/Sup [link] [comments]

Safety reminder, wear your water shoes. If you don’t have any you should look into getting some
My friend and i went paddling together like we always do. We ran into some chaos with the weather, and my Friend lost her croc shoe. she ran back down the trail we had anchored at of to see if it was there. It was, it had floated about 7 feet away, and she slipped down some rocks straight into barnacles, trying to get into the water to get it back Four hours in the ER and 11 stitches later, she’s OK! And she got the shoe! But just a reminder, you can never be too safe! ❤️🚣‍♂️ submitted by /u/Gremlin_girlie to r/Paddleboard [link] [comments]

Going to be spending 2 wks in Positano and then Sicily beaches....everyone is recommending to buy water shoes due to the rocks. What kind of shoes for water activities?
(Sorry for the blur screenshot, but it's from a YouTube review) I was watching a YouTube review of Xplor and he mentioned that water shoes were a necessary for water activities while showing this sign. He mentions water shoes and the sign's english translation is making me think they mean a traditional water shoe. But given the walking in the parks, I was thinking of getting more like a water sneaker. My fiance prefers to wear sandals like Tevva sandals as water shoes. Has anyone had any issues with either water sneakers or sandals? Do they need to be just closed toe shoes or close around the whole foot? Should we just dedicated some packing space to water shoes? (We were thinking about going carry on only for the sake of not dealing with baggage claim wait in Cancun) submitted by /u/brainabouttoexplode to r/Xcaret [link] [comments]

Why don’t more people talk about water shoes vs sandals?
Hey all, I’m very new to backpacking so I apologize if this is an obvious question, or if ultralight people would carry either haha, but I was wondering why I see lots of people carrying minimal sandals for camp/water crossings, but I don’t see people ever mention water shoes. I’m asking because I bought Xero sandals, and the lightest they have still come in around 10-11 ounces for the pair. But I got a cheap pair of “water shoes” on Amazon for $8 and they seem PERFECT for quick camp shoes or water crossings. Quick drying, rubber bottom for rocks in the river, etc. And they’re about 4-5oz for the pair! So you save $50 and cut the weight in half….. what am I missing? Why don’t more people carry these instead of sandals? They’re probably less durable - but everyone seems to be fine buying Frogg Toggs to save weight despite the durability…. Anywho; just wondering if anyone knows why they aren’t more popular :) submitted by /u/therfws to r/Ultralight [link] [comments]

Water Shoe Recommendation
I have two trips coming up that I’d like to have watershoes. First up Hawaii (not as necessary but considering this a test run…) and then Costa Rica. Some of the excursions we are doing in CR require close toed shoes and some of the beaches look like water shoes would be good to have. Otherwise I plan on bringing Chacos and/or Birks for my sandals. So I’m looking for water shoes that are more like a tennis shoe so they can double duty for couple hour walks in the jungle. Anyone have a water shoe they love? submitted by /u/SwimmingWaterdog11 to r/HerOneBag [link] [comments]
