Re: lounger and parasol safety deposit box
If you plan to swim on any beaches without those facilities you could use a waterproof pouch/bag for credit cards, room key, phone etc. I use a small one and tuck it in to my cossie attached by a lanyard. The larger ones have a shoulder or cross body strap. They are submersible. A good brand is Overboard - available in Canada but lots of others online.

Swimming with EpiPens? Waterproof pouch recommendations?
For me exercise (or just sweating! Even just working in the kitchen) can cause an itchy scalp even with prophylactic antihistamines. I want to start exercising, ideally by swimming. But what do I do about the epi pen? My pool is crowded and there are frequently thefts. So I’d like to keep them on my body somehow (along with my phone, keys and glasses). Any recommendations for a super waterproof pouch I can wear? submitted by /u/Pigeonofthesea8 to r/Anaphylaxis [link] [comments]

Trip Report: 5 Days in Iceland Winter
Howdy! Here’s a quick overview of a short but pretty intense 5-day trip to Iceland in February. Temps dipped down to around “feels like” 8°F / –13°C, with plenty of snow and wind. During the trip I hiked in a national park, stood around in brutal cold waiting for the aurora, strolled around snowy harbors, and even went swimming while it was hailing. I wanted to show that with a little planning and thoughtful layering, it’s possible to onebag even in really cold climates. I’ve included a few photos to give a sense of the conditions I was dealing with, and below I’ll break down what worked, what didn’t, and my full load-out. What worked: Waterproof trail runners. I went back and forth on bringing boots but I’m glad I stuck with a good pair of waterproof trail runners. They handled everything I threw at them. Layers. Probably obvious for those of us from colder climates, but I’m always surprised how many people underestimate layering. Merino wool baselayer, fleece/wool midlayer, puffer and shell worked perfectly for my needs. Onebagging in general. Preaching to the choir here, but watching people drag roller suitcases through a foot of snow hurt my soul. My 35L Aero bag was easy to move around with in the snow and small enough to stash in a locker at the spa. WP Piqué shirt. Oh my, what a shirt! I wore it hiking, to nice restaurants, and on flights. Easily one of the most versatile shirts I’ve traveled with. Icebreaker shorts. Swim, sleep, lounge. Since they’re merino they stay comfortable and don’t get funky. WP Interlock shirt: Same story: super versatile. Great for lounging and stayed odor-free. It’s labeled as heavyweight merino but it feels like something I could wear year-round. Pakt waterproof pouch. I had a 6-hour gap between leaving the spa and checking into my Airbnb, so having a place to stash wet clothes was absolutely clutch. Wristwatch. I had to check the time a lot for busses and such, and my heavy gloves made unlocking my phone impossible. What didn't work: Forgot sunglasses. Yep, lots of snow = lots of glare. Somehow I left them on the counter at home. Lost my wallet at the airport. Great start to the trip. An AirTag or some sort of tracker would’ve saved me five days of stress. Hot sauce. I need flavor. Liquid IV/electrolytes. I definitely burned through more energy than usual hiking in the cold. Flashlight. Super unintuitive to use and constantly turned on inside my bag. Load-out: I’ll try something new and list the exact items I packed in case it helps anyone thinking about layering for winter trips like this. The main takeaway isn’t that you need these exact pieces but rather that I try to own fewer, higher-quality items that work across different situations. That’s what makes traveling light and simple possible for me. Clothing Smartwool thermal underwear Wool & Prince Interlock shirt ARKET long-sleeve cotton shirt Icebreaker shorts (don’t know the exact model) 4× wool socks in different weights and brands 3× Wool & Prince boxers Wool & Prince Piqué midweight button-down Wool & Prince wool fleece Mountain Hardware Ghost Whisperer II TNF rain shell (not sure of the model) Old wool pants (thrifted? unknown brand) Lined water-repellent shell pants from MUJI Terrex wind/water shell pants Gore-Tex trail runners Dehen beanie Smartwool buff Mountain Hardware leather gloves Misc Book AirPods Camera (extra battery + charger) USB-C and Lightning cables, Bluetooth transmitter, etc. Anker portable charger Eye mask Small homemade pouch with cough drops (always a hit to share on day tours!) Passport / wallet Universal wall plug / adapter Wristwatch Small flashlight Toiletries Bandana (great for keeping your neck warm and wiping off a wet camera) TRIMUI (fun little device I borrowed!) Matador daypack Instant coffee from my local spot in Portland in case of caffeine emergencies Insulated cup for said caffeine emergencies Massage ball Asthma inhaler, lens wipes, ointment, etc. A few things missing from the list: phone, hand wipes, and a small bottle of aspirin. And that’s about it. Hope any of this was helpful. Happy travels and enjoy keeping things light! submitted by /u/cjafe to r/onebag [link] [comments]

Recs for underwater phone pouch?
Hello, I'm getting ready for a big trip that will involve lots of snorkeling and also a scuba course (I know, wrong s/r!). When I was in Hawaii, I borrowed a friend's waterproof phone pouch that in theory was touch sensitive and could take pictures through the plastic. I found it tough to use--with the glare I couldn't see my screen, it barely responded to taking pics, and they were terrible. Any recommendations for one that does the job? (keeps my phone safe, lets me take okay pictures). thanks a lot! submitted by /u/sophssqueezebox to r/snorkeling [link] [comments]

'Waterproof' phone pouch leaked - phone completely dead. What are my rights?
Hi - in England. TL;DR: I bought a 'waterproof' phone pouch from Amazon for use on holiday, it somehow leaked, and now my phone is completely dead. Just wondering what my rights are - in particular, whether I have any grounds to claim against the seller since, as a result of apparent flaws in their product, I now need to buy a new phone. As instructed in the listing, I tested the pouch before use by submerging it with a tissue inside and it seemed to work. On first actual use, again, no problems - the phone stayed dry. Second time around, though, after about ten minutes I noticed the phone became unresponsive to touch inputs when I tried to open the camera. The plastic was sort of stuck to and interfering with the screen. I put this down to either me having pressed all the air out before sealing it, as instructed, or some fog in the bag, which the listing said was normal. The case remained buoyant and the phone otherwise functioned normally - e.g. the screen came on and off when angled a certain way, as iPhones do. After about 30 minutes, I decided to get out of the sea to check on the phone. The case was still sealed correctly and looked fine, but when I opened it and turned it upside down, water literally poured out. I was standing chest-deep in the sea - not swimming, diving, or otherwise submerging the phone, though the listing claims it's waterproof up to 30m depth. The case is also IPX8 rated, but this doesn't seem to actually mean much. There is no obvious damage to the pouch itself, so I assume the seal may have been faulty. I followed all instructions in the listing, though of course can't prove that or show how much water was in the bag when I tipped it out. Admittedly, the back of my phone was already smashed, which may well have made the water damage 'worse' - but it was in its case within the pouch, so its direct exposure to water was limited. It was entirely functional before I used it in the pouch. It now won't turn on. I've tried researching myself, but I'm still unclear on if/how consumer legislation applies to secondary impacts of a faulty item (e.g. the phone breaking because the pouch was faulty), so any advice is really appreciated! submitted by /u/csszvdc to r/LegalAdviceUK [link] [comments]

Does the waterproof metro pouch interfere with quad lock phone?
I'm just looking into buying a pouch when I cycle for leisure and not carrying lots of stuff, it would be perfect for necessities like keys and cards. However, I also have the Brompton quad lock mount and have my phone on there for navigation — would the pouch interfere with that setup?
