Is anyone on Wegovy injections by choice over Tirzepatide or just because of insurance reasons?
I know I know...everyone responds differently. I know there are some people that feel better and lose more on Wegovy than Zepbound/Mounjaro. There’s also the oral Wegovy people who opt not to inject, which I understand completely. But what about the rest of us? After I successfully appealed in 2025, my insurance said no to Zepbound in 2026 and Wegovy was the only choice. While out of pocket wouldnt be the end of the world, it just felt wasteful spending $500 for Zep when Wegovy is $0. I’ve regained some weight and I am having some nausea which is being curbed by Zofran. Sulfur burps are back in full force again. submitted by /u/gringo-tacos to r/WegovyWeightLoss [link] [comments]

Wegovy Pill vs Injections
So as most of you know wegovy just released a pill version this year Jan. I’ve been on Metformin for about going on five months now and I hate it so much. I’ve been hearing glp-1s work also for pcos so I wanted to come here to ask for your own personal opinions. My insurance doesn’t cover any of these medications so insurance doesn’t matter to me I’ve been paying out of pocket for Metformin and I’m prepared to pay for wegovy. Let a girl know if you got on any mounjro or ozmpeic. Thank you! submitted by /u/Pizza_Time03 to r/PCOS [link] [comments]

Influencer Selling Wegovy Injections on Instagram .This Is Getting Dangerous
This influencer is literally posting and SELLING Wegovy injections like it’s some casual skincare product and to make it worse, she’s even uploading tutorials on how to use it. Like… are we serious right now?? First of all, this is NOT a harmless product. This is a prescription medication meant to be used under proper medical supervision. It’s not something you casually inject because an influencer told you it worked for them. The fact that she’s distributing it and guiding people without any credentials is not just irresponsible it’s straight up dangerous and illegal. submitted by /u/Sunshine_05_ to r/InstaCelebsGossip [link] [comments]

Now that the Wegovy pill exists for weight loss I'm trying to decide between oral and injectable, need real experiences
I've been researching Wegovy for weight loss for months and was about to commit to the injectable when the oral version launched in January. Now I'm paralyzed by a new decision I wasn't expecting to have to make. The needle doesn't bother me personally so that's not a factor. What I care about is effectiveness and side effects. The trials show slightly less weight loss with oral vs injectable but "slightly less" is vague. Like how much less are we talking in practice? I've also read that the oral version requires really strict timing, empty stomach, minimal water, waiting 30 minutes before eating. As someone with a chaotic morning routine involving two teenagers and a dog, I'm worried about compliance. I decided to get a consultation on eden health and my provider presented both options but said ultimately it depends on my lifestyle and preferences. Which is probably the right answer but doesn't help me decide. Anyone already switched from injectable to oral or started on oral? How does the real world experience compare? submitted by /u/maelxyz to r/WegovyWeightLoss [link] [comments]

Anyone here on the Wegovy pill instead of the injections? The routine is kinda different.
We’ve been noticing more people starting the Wegovy pill lately and one thing that keeps coming up is how different the routine feels compared to the weekly shots. The pill has its own little system: • Take it first thing • Empty stomach • Wait ~30 minutes before coffee or food • Appetite patterns through the day feel a bit different Most GLP-1 tools were originally built around weekly injections, so the daily pill schedule can feel a bit awkward to track. We actually added Wegovy pill tracking in the MeAgain app recently because of that exact feedback, basically just letting people log it as a daily med instead of forcing it into a weekly shot schedule. Some people like seeing how the morning dose lines up with hunger, protein intake, side effects, etc during the day. But honestly the bigger question we’re curious about: For people on the pill… what part of the routine has been the hardest? The 30 minute “don’t drink coffee yet” window seems to be the one that drives everyone crazy submitted by /u/MeAgain-app to r/WegovyWeightLoss [link] [comments]

Wegovy pill already running at several multiples of the injection’s 3-month run-rate
Side by side: Oral Wegovy (2026) hit ~18.4k in its first full week, >26k in week 3, and ~38.2k by week 5 (IQVIA-tracked), with Novo claiming ~50k/week by Jan 23 when including cash-pay channels. Injectable Wegovy (2021) was >8k/week by week 5, and reached ~17k/week by week 19. The pill’s early ramp is dramatically steeper, exceeding the injection’s entire first-3-month volume in about ~5 weeks on the retail-tracked numbers alone, though the injection-era market was far less mature and had very different access/supply dynamics. Yes the pill is cheaper... but the volume argument and the growing TAM of the obesity market are solid fundamentals here. I'm not panicking. submitted by /u/Stockholm86er to r/NovoNordisk_Stock [link] [comments]

Analysis shows pill is not cannibalising Wegovy and Ozempic injection sales but stealing market share from Lilly instead
According to senior analyst Søren Løntoft Hansen at AL Sydbank, as reported to MarketWire, the latest prescription data shows 52,299 prescriptions for new patients on the Wegovy tablet last week, up from 38,423 in week six. According to the senior analyst, the launch of the Wegovy tablet could be the best prescription drug launch ever. “It is also a launch that is significantly higher than both the launch of Zepbound and Wegovy when they were introduced to the market,” says Søren Løntoft Hansen. "It should be noted that these prescriptions are written in physical pharmacies and do not include the online channel. If you consider Novo Nordisk’s annual report, where they reveal how much of the Wegovy tablet is actually being prescribed online, it is a very, very large number,” points out Søren Løntoft Hansen. “There is a slight decline in Wegovy injections, and this also applies to Ozempic in terms of weekly growth. However, the decline is less than for Zepbound and Mounjaro. This suggests that the Wegovy tablet is taking market share from Wegovy injections to a lesser extent,” says Søren Løntoft Hansen. “There could have been fears that the Wegovy tablet would really cannibalize prescriptions for Wegovy injections, but I don’t think that’s the case,” says Løntoft Hansen. submitted by /u/kiyomoris to r/NovoNordisk_Stock [link] [comments]

I study GLP-1s for a living and finally started the Wegovy pill myself: Day 20 update, 15 lbs down + lessons learned 💊
Disclaimer: This is not medical advice. I’m not recommending that anyone take this medication or change their care based on this post. I’m sharing my personal experience as a patient, along with how it lines up with what I know from the literature. Everyone responds differently, and decisions about GLP-1s should be made with your own clinician. Posting an update to my original post here: Original Post A lot of good questions came up in the comments, and I’ve now had enough time and lived experience to give a clearer picture of how this has actually been for me. For context, I’m a PhD-trained clinical provider and researcher. My background is in eating behavior, obesity, bariatric surgery, gut peptides, gut-brain interactions, and the microbiome. I don’t study drug development directly, but I do study downstream biology and behavior. After watching patients and datasets for years, I finally decided to try a GLP-1 myself. Where I started I’m a 37-year-old male. My BMI was about 39.8 when I started. I had been mostly sedentary for the last 2 years, and a large chunk of my weight gain happened since then. Before starting, I was eating closer to ~3000 calories a day. Since starting: I’m down ~15 lbs since Jan 16 (I know.... water weight and too rapid) Intake has naturally settled around 1600–1800 kcal/day, which is sometimes a challenge I’m now doing Peloton spin classes ~3-4x/week (back to my normal level of activity) I’m planning to add more weight training soon What it feels like day to day Most days are honestly uneventful, in a good way. I don’t feel sick, drugged, or food-averse. I was scared I would start to hate food, but no. I am still excited to meet friend for dinner and to see my favorite foods on the menu. The main effects for me are: Appetite suppression that feels moderate but consistent Getting full much faster Far less urge to snack or graze I can still eat normally, I just don’t want as much. That’s actually ideal for me. For the first time in my life, serving sizes actually make sense. I used to laugh at the thought that someone could actually follow a serving size and now I get it. I’m no longer negotiating with myself around food all day. From a mechanistic standpoint, this feels less like stomach limitation like you might see with bariatric surgery and more like central appetite regulation. GLP-1 signaling affects not just satiety, but also reward-related pathways in the brain. Specifically, it impacts dopamenergic functioning in the ventral tegmental area (VTA), nucleus accumbens (NAc), and lateral septum. Subjectively, this feels like food interest has been turned down globally, not just meal by meal. I will say, I still think about food. The food noise is just different. I am thinking about what makes sense to eat rather than what I WANT/DESIRE to eat. Also, I am not waiting up and planning what I want for dinner at 5am anymore. For people early on who feel nothing: that seems very common. Early response varies a lot, and not feeling anything in the first couple weeks does not predict failure long-term from everything I have read and seen. Remember, in the Wegovy pill trials, most people didn't start having significant impacts on hunger cues until the 4mg dose, and weight loss started around the start of the 9mg dose. Reflux and GI symptoms (important clarification) I want to clarify this because my earlier comments probably made it sound worse than it is. Day 1 was weird. In hindsight, I think it was a lot of anxiety. Nothing like that since. Most days, I have minimal reflux and no nausea. In fact, most days I forget I am on it. I did have two notable reflux flare days on days 15 and 16. It was pretty bad, and mostly in my throat. In hindsight, those days were very likely triggered by: Under-eating and too much protein the day before Long fasting gaps Mechanical factors like eating laying down or talking for a long time right after eating after a long gap (giving a lecture and seeing seeing patients) Once I ate more consistently, adding in a few more carb, and avoided long fasts, things settled again. Interestingly, I have a history of chronic reflux-type symptoms with sinus issues and hoarseness. Since starting this medication, those sinus and hoarseness symptoms have actually improved, which makes me wonder if my baseline reflux burden may be lower overall when I’m eating smaller and earlier. Bowel changes and fiber I was really worried about people talking about gastroparesis. In fact, most my research is focused on gastroparesis, so I have been hypervigilant. My bowel habits have changed, but probably in an expected way: Less frequent (every 2–3 days) Smaller volume Soft and easy to pass If you know the Bristol scale, lets say small 4's and 5's Oh god, shared this online lol Given the reduction in intake, that makes sense. I’ve gotten used to it. I am tracking bowel movements though, because its still a concern of mine. Diet-wise, I’ve been intentionally high protein and high fiber. From a microbiome perspective, fiber fermentation produces short-chain fatty acids that influence gut-brain signaling and neurotransmitter systems. Specifically. short-chain fatty acids from fiber: Influence gut-brain signaling via endogenous (natural) peptides Affect neurotransmitter systems Alter reward pathways Shift microbiome composition Again, this one of my primary research areas, so I am pushing this for myself more than most probably. I suspect that leaning into fiber may be synergistic with GLP-1 effects rather than working against them. Maybe a side effect On interesting thing I have noticed is that I sometimes get very sleepy/tired after meals. Maybe a glucose things, but interesting. It usually last 20-30 minutes and then I am back to normal How I take the pill (this matters) I think adherence details may explain some of variability people are seeing. I take it: Daily at 5:15 am With less than 4 oz of water (its likely more like 1-2 oz) Then I get back into bed and read the news I don’t eat or drink for at least 30 minutes (often longer) I usually have a cup of high fiber oatmeal around 7:30 am These peptides are sensitive. I wouldn’t cut the pills, and I store them as directed. Taste Yes, the pill has a taste. For me it’s slightly metallic and oddly “fizzy” for a moment, but it goes away quickly and hasn’t been an issue. Alcohol and caffeine I’ve had alcohol while on it and it was fine, but I would be cautious. It seems to last longer than usual, so I’d go slower than normal. I don’t use caffeine often, so I can’t say much there. Injectable Wegovy comparison I’ve never been on injectable Wegovy or any GLP-1 before this, so I can’t compare directly. That said, a lot of people in the comments described early satiety patterns that sound similar. I believe one person said they felt less side effect, but as a scientist, small sample size. Another person said on the injectables, it felt like a door slamming shut in the moment causing them to stop eating as much, while the pill didn't do that. They said the pill felt like, oh no, I ate too much. From my own experience, that's how I would describe my experience with the pill. From a research perspective, the comparison really interesting! if true, that means people have to LEARN eating habits and how to respond to hunger cues on the pill rather than have them artificially induced. That could potentially have a HUGE impact in terms of weight regain after discontinuing the drug for the pill compared to the injectable. AGAIN this is hypothesis, not fact. Tracking and the app I’m using A few people asked how I’m tracking things. I’ve been using an app called Lina. After my last post, the developers reached out to me directly via reddit DMs. They did not ask me to write this post. They didn't pay me. In fact, I told them I was going to write this and they said "Careful, you know what people on reddit are like. They will think you are trying to pull off a secret promotion or something". But because they’ve been very responsive to feedback, which has been refreshing, I thought I would include this. So go ahead and down vote me into oblivion if you want. It’s similar to MeAgain in some ways (which I have also used in parallel for short time), but it also lets you include the pill as a medication. I believe it’s still in development, and it seems like a small team, but they’ve already made changes based on my feedback. For example, I have some idiopathic vision issues, and they added better text size controls. They also worked with me to make food tracking simpler and easier to follow. They have checked in DIRECTLY several times and we have gone back an forth about various way to fix bugs and make the app better. It’s cheaper than MeAgain, though it may still be missing a few bells and whistles, but I think improvements are on the way. I am not telling you to go out and get it, but its cool to have a good experience with people so I thought I would mention it. What’s next I’m planning to: Keep intake steady to avoid under-eating and reflux Increase resistance training Titrate up to 4 mg soon Bottom line This has been a net positive experience. The biggest change is that eating finally feels regulated rather than negotiated. Most days, I just eat less without thinking about it. If you’re early on and feel nothing, don’t panic. If you’re feeling too much, hydration, consistency, and avoiding long fasts matter more than pushing restriction. Happy to answer questions. EDIT: Several people are struggling to believe the weight loss, so I uploaded a screenshot from my app. I know its a lot more than people would expect and as I said in the post, its more than I would like at a rate I know is not sustainable. Most of this weight loss was most likely fluid retention, but I have also had serious appetite suppression. I have gone from 3000kcal a day to struggling to hit 1200 for many of the days and pushing myself hard just to get 1600-1800 https://imgur.com/a/N73IJM3 submitted by /u/storyhill22 to r/WegovyWeightLoss [link] [comments]

Oral Wegovy approved. The $100 billion weight loss drug market sees the start of the “pill vs. injection” showdown.
The FDA has just approved the first oral GLP-1 drug for weight management. Clinical data shows it can reduce weight by about 16%, which is essentially comparable to the effects of injections. As someone who has consistently followed the pharmaceutical sector, I believe we underestimate how many people have needle phobia or simply prefer the convenience of taking a pill daily. Novo Nordisk says their product could launch as early as January, while Lilly's oral drug approval will take several more months. How might this impact Lilly's stock price? I currently hold Lilly shares and am closely monitoring Lilly's response. submitted by /u/Plane-Candidate5828 to r/stocks [link] [comments]

Zepbound injection vs. Wegovy pill, will it be worth the change
So not covered by insurance. Started Zep 13 months ago, went from 2.5 to 15. I found that until I got to 10, I really felt nothing. I lost about 30 lbs (7%) for the 9 months I was on it, stopped in Aug for various reasons, a big one being cost. Even at 15 I did not experience what many here did, and I dieted really hard. The med helped some, but not what others say. I have recently re started because the price has come down, and I have heard that prices will come down more in 26. However, seeing the new Wegovy pill at $150 per month, when I am paying 2x that at lower doses and 3x that once I can get back over 10, does it make sense to ask my doc to change me to wegovy. I worry some as I have heard that zep is actually better than just glp 1 and it seems that I am one of the people that it is not as effective on to begin with. submitted by /u/oldmaninparadise to r/Zepbound [link] [comments]

CA state employees: does your CURRENT health plan cover weight loss injections like Wegovy and Zepbound?
I have a question for you folks. I work at UHC where we've been paying them at 100% (no patient responsibility) for years. It was decided they'd go through the medical benefit (as it was excluded through OptumRx) since there are almost no copays on SignatureValue, including "outpatient injectibles", the benefit category they have fallen under the last two years under this plan. As many of you heard, CalPERS has instructed us to stop and to no longer cover obesity meds like Zepbound and Wegovy. Ozempic and Mounjaro remain covered through pharmacy benefits as they were before, essentially as antidiabetics with bonus appetite suppression side effects. In 2026, the remaining covered injectibles are mandated to go through pharmacy benefits, which will be administered in 2026 by CVS Caremark. Caremark is still embroiled in a lawsuit since late 2023 following their decision to exclude Wegovy/Zepbound entirely. Folks are not stoked (sorry guys, we didn't make the decision, please be nice to us lol). I heard through the grapevine apparently calpers was unaware that we've been covering these at all, hence the change. I don't know that that is correct though, so I'm curious. Anyone been getting Zepbound or Wegovy for weight loss specifically through Anthem, Kaiser etc? If so, how much have you had in copays? Btw I'm not a state worker but I love all you guys and being on your team, best dept I've ever worked in. Please call us when you get in a bind, we can do a lot to help expedite/overturn and have the ability to do a lot of extra stuff as can't for other members to go above and beyond. Work hat off: I absolutely love going to bat for you guys ❤️ submitted by /u/HerkDerpson to r/CAStateWorkers [link] [comments]

Just took my first injection!
Hi all! Just wanted to share that today is the official start of my Wegovy journey. Finally got insurance all figured out and woke up today to a notification that my prescription was ready! I just took my first injection about 5 minutes ago. So, tell me your experiences with the first dose, please? Good, bad, I wanna know any and every possibility. Thank you! submitted by /u/sericane to r/WegovyWeightLoss [link] [comments]

First shot of Wegovy…a lesson learned
It was…not good. Like many of you, my insurance dropped Zepbound in favor of Wegovy and today is my first shot day. The pen is a terrible design. There’s no actual button to press, you have to jab the pen against your skin to set off the needle and med flow. This is hard to do if you have squishy skin like myself. I always inject in the belly and I think I’m going to have to start in the arm or thigh, somewhere with less give. So with Zepbound the pen clicks when it’s engaged and clicks again when the needle retracts and the medicine is gone. Wegovy didn’t do that. The pen clicked and I stood there for 10 seconds waiting for the second click but it didn’t come so I thought maybe it just doesn’t click a second time. Wrong. I removed the pen from my stomach and medicine shot EVERYWHERE. Just a violent stream of medicine streaking across the room. I panicked so I pressed it back against my stomach but of course it was futile. So I got maybe 3/4 of the medicine in my system and so far, I can taste it in my mouth. I hate this but I’m trying to be positive submitted by /u/Herpbees to r/Zepbound [link] [comments]

The best medical advice I've ever gotten: INJECT TO YOUR THIGH
When I started on wegovy, for the first few weeks the side effects were unbearable, I thought about quitting. Then I randomly saw on reddit to try to inject on the thigh instead of the belly. Instant change, 0 side effects for me all of the way. I only ever needed to go up to 0.5, never felt the need for more. It's been 9 months, and I've gone down from 103kg to 73kg. Literally lost a third of myself. That redditor saved my life, and I want to pass it on. submitted by /u/lurebat to r/WegovyWeightLoss [link] [comments]

My first injection march 2023 vs now, nov 2023 off wegovy for 3 months
I started at about 208 lbs, miserable post partum not being able to control my eating. While I will say my journey was rough with nausea and not eating enough, it completely helped me get the taste for processed food out of my psyche. Now I’ve been eating very well since end of July when I stopped the med, and I have gained no fat back. I was about 170 when I quit and I’m at 173, I’m trying to put on 10 lbs of muscle then cut again. I was not able to weight train on wegovy as hard as I liked so I lost some muscle mass. My advice would be do not go up in dose unless it isn’t working anymore. Have enough of the med to take the edge off. You want to be able to eat and have energy to weight lift and maintain muscle mass. I honestly wish I could stay on .25 for life lol it helped me not want to shop or stop as gas stations for little treats 🫠 but insurance won’t cover it. I have zero Desire for fast food or sweets now cuz I just haven’t eaten them for months!! (Well I’ve had a couple sweets here and there but I’ve been working on intuitive eating and telling myself there will always be more sweets, if you eat too much you’ll get a tummy ache!) submitted by /u/BadgerSecure2546 to r/WegovyWeightLoss [link] [comments]
