HELP! Cat pee on weighted blanket.
I have a 30 lb weighted blanket on my bed. My elderly cat has peed on it THRICE. I'm worried about continuing to wash it as it's so heavy, and I don't know if it's doing much good anyway due to the weight keeping it at the bottom of the washer tub. It's the tiny glass beads kind, too, and every time I wash it in the machine, it starts leaking beads. Would aggressively spot-treating it help, maybe even more than putting it in the washer with a shizload of apple cider vinegar and washing soda? I'm going to spot clean it this time anyway. Got Angry Orange on the way (that stuff is LEGIT). But if anyone has any ideas or experiences with weighted blankets (along with treating the mattress--it's got a waterproof cover, but I don't trust it), please help submitted by /u/lavendertheheretic to r/laundry [link] [comments]

Cleaning a 50lb weighted blanket
I've got a 50 pound weighted blanket that I've had for maybe 6 months or so. haven't attempted to wash it, but if I tried could I even succeed? obviously no average washing machine can handle that much weight (though the tag does say machine washable), and I imagine it'd be like 5x as heavy if it got wet. I could get a duvet cover for it but I like how thin it is compared to most comforters. any ideas? submitted by /u/LupinWhiskers to r/Bedding [link] [comments]

Day 21 of eating Jersey Mike's every day until they buy me Lamborghini
Every day I will eat one Jersey Mike's sandwich and post proof. I will continue doing this until Jersey Mike's buys me a Lamborghini Day 21 sandwich: This was a suggestion I was tagged in by u/MedicMac89, but the original mastermind behind this creation is u/DoubleQuarterPoundin (shoutout to the original thread). It is a pretty ingenious concept, but ordering it can be tricky. I followed u/2trippiejay's instructions on how to punch this into the app, and it worked like a charm. The Build (How to Order): Base: #16 Chicken Philly Bread: Rosemary Parmesan The Toppings: NO Onions or Peppers (Keep it pure meat & cheese) Sub Swiss Cheese (Replace the White American) ADD Grilled Ham (The key to the Cordon Bleu vibe) ADD Honey Mustard (Essential for that tang) I put in the order (plus a mini Tuna for the gf) on the app, bundled up, and went to pick up this sub. At first glance, it seemed small, but that's on me - I didn't add many toppings because I tried to stay as close to the original idea as I could for this first try. But man, I fuck with this sandwich heavy! I already really enjoy Jersey Mike's chopped chicken on the grill - it is FANTASTIC. But now, you add chopped ham to it? You get two very different, satiating, and savory proteins going on and the result is incredible The cheese covers the meat like a blanket, it's the perfect transition before the honey mustard steps into the light and adds a delicious sweetness to the mix. Really lovely. The mayo smooths out the profile so that neither the honey mustard nor the proteins completely take over - everything just balances. I was digging the sandwich, but after my third bite, I realized I was eating it way too fast and it was going to be gone soon. So, I made an executive decision: I grabbed the fridge CPR and put a nice glob on it. YUUUUM. I'm definitely going to play around with this recipe some more, and I'm sure others will too. On a scale of Jersey Mike's to Lamborghini, this one was a Honey Mustard🍯 Money spent today: $11.77 ($12.75(sandwich) -$2.00(code JMMISSESYOU) + $1.02(tax)) Shore Points added: 6pts Money spent so far: $263.42 = $11.77 + $251.65 Shore Points Total: 214pts Calories consumed so far: 22,990 Calories? (current 730 + previous 22,260) Total feet consumed: 12.6 feet / 151.2" (7" + 144.2" = 151.2") Sandwich weight: 328.7g Current weight: 182.8 (-7.2 from yesterday, +0.0 from starting 182.8lb) Current height: 5'9" (no change but I haven't been inversion tabling 😔 ) Current BP: 130 85 101 (+8 0 +10) from yesterdays reading) For those asking about the gift cards/payment method, I use Fold (I broke down the math in Day 17 here). If you want to try it out: https://use.foldapp.com/r/FMKVL7RW Spreadsheet resumed! See you tomorrow. submitted by /u/Mikesway2026 to r/jerseymikes [link] [comments]

weighted blankets for someone who needs to stay cool but completely covered all night?
hi! as the title suggests, i'm looking for a new weighted blanket. i have cptsd, adhd, as well as a plethora of chronic illnesses that hurt like crazy as well as keep me trapped in bed most hours of the day, so i get a lot of use out of weighted blankets lol. i have a cheap one off of amazon, the type that has glass beads inside, but there's two issues i have with it: i run very hot, just in general, and this blanket does not help much with that i now have a kitten, and i don't want to run the risk of him ripping a hole in my blanket and getting glass beads everywhere i've already had one weighted blanket made with glass beads rip before, so i know how messy they are. and my kitten in particular is an absolute chaos gremlin, so i feel like even though i tend to have a few layers on top of the weighted blanket (thin, mind you, given my temperature issues) it's only a matter of time... so, i wanted to ask here about recommendations about a replacement. i'm hoping for something affordable, as i'll have to ask for it as a gift due to the fact that i myself have no income anymore due to being disabled and incapable of working. that's the first factor to consider. secondly, while i'm plenty open to the big knit blankets, i worry about the texture; i really prefer my blankets to be relatively flat and soft, y'know? but i'm still willing to look into it plenty, i just wonder if there are any other option beyond glass beads or chunky knit that i don't know of that might work better. if you're able to help, i'll really appreciate it. thank you!!! edit: typos submitted by /u/maknaeline to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Former Army Ranger/Sniper & Long Distance thru-hiker here. Your bugout loadouts are unhinged.
Loadout: 50+ mile Sniper Adventure Challenge Race Kit (you don’t need this for bugging out!) Hey guys. I don’t thinks that having a military background makes somebody immediately qualified to give advice about prepping or moving over land. I actually think that a lot of Veterans overpack and are focus focused on the wrong thing for prepping or “bugging out”. We were trained to have logistics, supply, and fight. If you go into one of these situations with that mindset, you will be carrying way too much stuff. Following my time in the Ranger Regiment and as a conventional sniper, I started knocking out multi hundred mile treks around the United States. Dude, I ate so much humble pie from carrying too much weight and not understanding what it means to truly self support. In the military, you assume, “one is none and two is one”, meaning: you need to have redundancy in your gear. My pack for hiking the 800 mile Arizona Trail weighed about 22 pounds, 30 pounds when I had to walk 20 miles plus with no water points. I had a full kit: Bivy sleeping bag, water, filtration, and food for about five days. I covered +/- 30 miles a day for 40 days from the Mexican border to Utah. I experienced heat exhaustion and some gnarly foot injuries that I had to take care of out in the field. All this to say: you guys are carrying way too much stuff if you plan on walking 20 miles with no/little training. First: safest course of action for a lot of things is to stay in place. Here is a simple loadout for getting home if it’s 20 miles away: One Nalgene Bottle (everything in this kit goes inside the bottle when stored) -space blanket -Swiss Army knife -Cell phone charger pack -Ultra light rain jacket -Electrolytes -Antidiarrheal/ibuprofen (as long as you keep the water inside you you can probably make it home) -Sunscreen -Chapstick -2,000 calories -cheap sunglasses -headlamp -TP -aquamira tablets (chloranamine) -Collapsible pack (mystery ranch has a 19L) -compass (maybe) -if it’s winter time, obviously this list changes, you can fit one of those REI brand puffy jackets into pretty small spaces. Costco and farm supply stores have great gloves for $6 a set. That’s all you need to get home and walk 20 miles. Water is the most important thing. Water over a gun. Most people who serve in combat don’t actually shoot their weapon, every single one of them drinks water and goes to the bathroom. I’m all for prepping and being prepared - I know that I’m just some guy on the Internet but I have a lot of experience walking in and out of austere environments. On the tier list of things that you need, a firearm is pretty low - but probably still an essential item, if you know how to use it. If you’re looking for good shoes, I really like Hoka and Altras and for boots La Sportiva. You do not need three pocket knives and a Glock 19 with six mags and a plate carrier to get home when you live in rural Virginia or wherever. If you can carry in your state, cool, then put a Glock +2 mags in a fanny pack. Hot take: Your cell phone has a compass that will work even without service, it also has a flashlight, those little battery banks are pretty valuable and while I do like analog - if you’re truly reducing weight, then use the device that you use every single day that works without fail for hundreds of days in a row. Your cell phone is durable, it’s probably the item that you use the most and drop and it gets wet and it still works every single day. I wouldn’t take my personal cell phone into a war, but we’re just talking about getting home. submitted by /u/FTWkansas to r/prepping [link] [comments]

Just wanna point out what Alex bought for her alleged "girls night" which just happens to be all HER faves. This is a perfect example of why she'll NEVER lose weight...fudge covered Ritz, franks in a blanket, chips & guac, 2 different dips, & 2 different flatbread pizza's 😱
With everything going on with gorlworld right now, I'm surprised Alex has the nerve to film this. Showing herself at Aldi putting her FOOD ADDICTION ON FULL DISPLAY!! Her excitement over food turned my stomach. The gasps & sound effects she made while showing all this junk food was disgusting. Looking at pastries, chocolate, donuts, oreos, pointing to things while drooling & salivating eww. This girl is 350lbs encouraging her viewers to eat this way, pointing to food & suggesting things to promote a EATING DISORDER. Then she buys all this garbage, which I know for a fact she left with double this amount, but didn't show it. A person doesn't get to Alex's size by having SELF CONTROL & willpower. She wants everyone to believe she's eating scrambled eggs & a "Built" protein bar meanwhile look at how BIG SHE IS!! This girl will NEVER succeed, this is so uncomfortable to watch. It's like seeing a drug addict use, just witnessing her literally GLUTTON HERSELF on camera & encouraging her audience to indulge & also "treat themselves" smh this is harmful & dangerous to promote. submitted by /u/MoveSuspicious2108 to r/alexandrarodriguez [link] [comments]

Budget-Friendly Christmas Hacks for Parents trying to keep the magic alive on a budget.
I have 3 kids and have lived on a VERY tight budget for many years. I know many parents are feeling the weight of the holiday season this year, so I wanted to share some tips I've gathered over the years. Wrap thrifted items in gift boxes: You can make thrifted items seem "new" if they're in a gift box. Thrifted doll with accessories, legos, toy cars, etc can all be arranged nicely in a gift box. For older kids, clothes, room decor, tech gadgets can all be put in a pretty gift box too. I've wrapped play food, doll clothes, and plastic dinosaurs in gift boxes and my kids are none-the-wiser that they were thrifted. They just thought Santa was making them look Christmasy in a themed box. You can also make a "basket of gifts" or "tub of gifts" where all items are out of their package, but organized in a play tub or cute basket. This works great for dress-up items, baby toys, building blocks, etc. You can easily find used books that look brand new and are very very cheap. Check the inside cover for writing. And then wrap em' up. You can make lightly used board games seem new by wrapping cards and loose pieces in a bit of plastic wrap to seem like they are "packaged". Dollar Tree can fill in gaps. They're great for stocking stuffers and have some large-ish coloring pads, room decor, and toys that can be wrapped to "buff up" under the tree. Items you NEED to buy can be turned into gifts. Time for a new toothbrush? Get a cute character one and now it's special. Need a new bookbag? Now it's a Christmas gift. Sports equipment, hygiene items, winter gear, etc can all be gifts. You can create your own "kit" from cheaper items. Make a craft kit yourself for way cheaper than you can buy a premade one with random craft supplies. Spa kit, sensory bin, play-doh kit (thrifted cookie cutters, dishware, etc is great for this), construction kit, etc. Buy online EARLY. PRICES GO UP CLOSER TO CHRISTMAS. Amazon, Walmart, eBay, Etsy- all of these places have supply and demand issues near Christmas and independent sellers on those platforms will exploit this and raise prices. If financially feasible, throughout the next year buy clearance priced items and stow them away for gifts the following Christmas. Buy toys in January, winter gear and clothing in April, summer sports equipment in the fall, pool toys/ outside play things in the fall. Blankets can be very cheap thrifted, can come in cute designs, can look practically new, and are easy to throw in a cheap gift bag. If you purchase a large item, used, without a box- instead of trying to wrap it, have it set up by Santa. Doll house, race car track, small furniture, etc. It just looks like Santa took it out of the box for them. For cleaning old plastic toys; hot water and a rag will get most stickers off. Dollar Tree also sells small bottles of "Goo Gone" to get residue off. A magic eraser also cleans many items. For sets of toys, like building blocks, they can often be run through the dishwasher for a thorough cleaning. Doll clothes and plush toys can be washed in a washing machine and dried on low heat. Using fabric softener will keep plush toys soft. submitted by /u/mamadoedawn to r/Frugal [link] [comments]

I've probably watch Dead Poets Society over a 100 times during my adolescence, but I only realized some crazy details today
I just realized something kind of wild. I've probably seen Dead Poets Society a hundred times, but only now do I feel like I'm really understanding certain scenes. Maybe I was too young the first times I watched it, but on rewatch, things hit differently. For example, the scene where Keating pushes Todd to improvise a poem in front of the class. For years I just thought it was an inspirational teacher moment, but I didn't get the deeper meaning. Keating tells Todd to look at the picture of W.W, a grim old man staring back, and says, "Close your eyes. Describe what you see." Todd ends up saying: "...a sweaty-toothed madman... his hands reach out and choke me..." Back then I didn't realize this was Todd describing himself. His fear of expression, his anxiety, his self-loathing, all of that comes through in the words. Keating didn't just make him speak; he made him reveal himself. That blanket image itself takes on a deeper symbolism the more I think about it. Todd says: "You push at it, stretch it, it will never be enough. You kick at it, beat at it, it will never cover any of us. ." At first it sounds abstract, but it’s really about truth and acceptance. Keating uses this moment to push Todd to face who he really is. The blanket being too small for everyone becomes a metaphor that truth and self-expression can’t be confined or limited, it’s bigger than any of us. And then the haunting line: " From the moment we enter crying to the moment you leave dying.", hich suddenly makes me think of birth and death, the painful but inescapable bookends of existence. Then there’s Neil’s suicide. When I was younger, I understood it was tragic, but I never really thought about the fact that Neil was only seventeen. That’s still a child, and the pressure from his father, the crushing weight of not being able to live his own life, feels even heavier when you remember how young he is. It wasn’t just about the play or his father forbidding him to act it was the loss of hope that he could ever be himself. And then there’s the Todd and Neil relationship. For the longest time I thought the idea of people shipping them was just fans being over the top. But looking back, there’s real tension between them. I don’t necessarily think either of them would have consciously recognized it, especially in 1959, but the intimacy is there. Todd’s shyness breaking down under Neil’s encouragement, Neil’s obvious care for Todd, the way their interactions carry more weight than typical school friendships there’s something more, even if it’s unspoken. It’s funny, because the movie hasn’t changed, but I have. Now I see layers that were invisible to me before. Dead Poets Society really is one of those films that grows with you. submitted by /u/Automatic_Physics170 to r/movies [link] [comments]

Successfully decluttered every single nook and cranny in my house.
You might remember me from yesterday asking for advice to declutter sentimental items. Well I am proud to say that I officially have NO more cluttered drawers or cabinets ANYWHERE in my house 🥳🥳🥳 EVERYTHING has a home! I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, honestly. I have everything I will ever need. If I were to die tomorrow, I wouldn't feel shame about someone rummaging through my stuff lol! I have about 6 trash bags of stuff to donate to charity. I ended up combing through things I could sell, and even found out that one of the things is now a rare find so I can get at least $500 for it... with everything else I want to sell, I could probably make about $800ish. So what a bonus! This is my linen closet. From now on, I am committing to only ever owning maximum 2x towels per person in my household, and only matching sets. I'm donating all my non-matching linen/duplicates. Now I only own 2x sets of bed sheets and quilt covers. I could probably cut down my blankets too, but some of them are pretty and I can always get rid of them later. This is going to make my life so much easier. Less washing to fold. Less folding avoidance now it can actually fit in the closet. Less decision paralysis on choosing bed linen. I physically can't avoid washing my sheets otherwise I won't have any to use next time. And I did all of this unmedicated!! submitted by /u/Odd_Statistician9626 to r/adhdwomen [link] [comments]

Need proof that employer insurance plans do cover Zepbound for weight loss
Hey everyone, I’m currently in discussions with my employer and the insurance broking agency that manages our company health plan. I was prescribed Zepbound specifically for weight loss (BMI ≥ 38, non-diabetic), but they are telling me no insurance company out there covers Zepbound for weight loss — that it’s only covered for diabetes. I know that’s not true. Zepbound is FDA approved specifically for weight loss, and I've seen others mention they’re getting coverage through their employer insurance. I’d really appreciate if anyone here who has successfully gotten Zepbound covered for weight loss (not Mounjaro for diabetes) could reply with: What insurance company you're using (Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, etc.) What plan name (I understand it may be employer-specific) Any key info like whether it was automatically covered or if you had to go through a prior authorization or appeal Please don’t mention your employer’s name — I don’t want this post to get taken down. Just trying to gather some real-world proof I can share to counter the blanket “no one covers this” argument. Thanks so much for your help! 🙏 submitted by /u/Electronic-Treat6799 to r/Zepbound [link] [comments]

My poor girly under my weighted blanket after a night of fireworks
We live next to a BIG stadium (Wembley) and Coldplay has been playing a billion shows, all of them with multiple fireworks. My poor girly after is really struggling :( i understand people like fireworks but I don’t get why they can’t use the noiseless ones, it is so bad for animals, children, and people with disabilities. We already have a thunder jacket and something that is supposed to cover her ears and help, but do nothing. I use my weighted blanket sometimes and it helps a little. I may need to call the vets and ask for meds as there are still 4 more of these concerts to go, anyone uses anxiety meds for their dogs for fireworks? Is it still recommended? My vets are closed today unfortunately but I am hoping to call them tomorrow. I feel so bad for her. 😭 submitted by /u/sunny-beans to r/BorderCollie [link] [comments]

Sleeping with a weighted blanket made me realize that my weight loss has made a difference.
Almost 50 lbs lost so far and I cannot see it AT ALL. This week it got suddenly chilly at night, and a couple nights ago I woke up too cold to go back to sleep and needed an extra blanket, and the only one in the room was my 20 lb weighted blanket. I covered myself up to my neck and went back to sleep until morning, waking up to adjust every hour or two. Oh my gosh, the amount of pain I was in when I got up for the day was insane. My back hurt from the pressure of laying on my back, my hips hurt from laying on my side, and every time I woke up through the night I was breathing heavier from the weight pushing on my chest, and it felt like exercise just to roll over. That was exactly how I felt after sleeping every night when I was heavier, and I used to dread going to bed because it was so uncomfortable. I just realized that I haven't felt that way in a while! I guess now I'm just trying to focus on all of the little things I might have been overlooking so far. submitted by /u/binkpot to r/loseit [link] [comments]

Looking for the Best Weighted Blanket
I've been dealing with some pretty rough sleep issues lately, and after doing some research, I keep coming across weighted blankets as a potential solution. I'm ready to invest in one, but looking at amazon and google searches, there are literally hundreds of options, all claiming to be the best weighted blanket on the market. The prices range from like $30 to over $300, and I honestly can't tell what makes one better than another. I'm completely overwhelmed by all the options out there. A bit of background: I'm a side sleeper who tends to run hot at night, and I've been struggling with anxiety that keeps me tossing and turning for hours. My therapist actually suggested trying a weighted blanket, saying it might help with the restlessness and that constant feeling of being "wired" when I'm trying to wind down. The thing is, when I started looking online, I've read that the general rule is to get one that's about 10% of your body weight, but beyond that, I'm lost. Some are made with glass beads, others with plastic pellets. Some have removable covers, others don't. There are cooling versions, organic cotton ones, bamboo ones - my head is spinning! I've been browsing Amazon reviews for days, but you know how those can be. Half seem fake, and the other half are either "this changed my life!" or "total waste of money" with no in-between. What I'm really looking for is something that won't make me overheat (this is huge for me), distributes weight evenly without bunching up, and is actually durable enough to last more than a few months. I'd also prefer something that's machine washable or at least has a washable cover, because let's be real, things happen. I've been eyeing a few brands like Gravity, YnM, and Bearaby, but I'm open to any suggestions. Some specific questions I have: Does the filling material really make a difference? How important is the fabric type for temperature regulation? Are the knitted/chunky ones worth considering, or are they just trendy? What weight did you choose relative to your body weight, and how did that work out? If you've had a bad experience with a weighted blanket, I'd love to hear about that too. What didn't work and why? Any brands or features to definitely avoid? submitted by /u/Zruku to r/homeownerstips [link] [comments]

Anyone else personally victimised by chenille
I’ve worked with everything from thread and lace weight to super chunky arm knitting and actual rope, but chenille is the only one that I actually struggle with, the crocheting goes smooth and easy as but attaching amigurumi parts or sewing in the ends and tails of blankets?? It takes offence to even the thought I’m covered in fluffy bits, dogs covered in fluffy bits, fluffy bits in the kitchen sink and embedded into the carpet everywhere! And the body parts still aren’t even attached; in fact the situation has gotten worse and it’s getting stuck and fluffier the more I try to sew ends in. I think I end up wasting more chenille than I put into my project with this naked string sausage ring looking ends! And the only solution I’ve found is shoving the mess inside the thing tying a lil 10cm new piece on and trying it all again until I have to do it all again!! Is my anger rational? No, but if I’m having to deal with this fluf demon everyone else in the house will have to as well submitted by /u/00BBFF_toy to r/crochet [link] [comments]

weighted blankets aren’t enough i need to be crushed
my 15lb weighted blanket + a body pillow + my husband’s leg is not enough. they need to make hydraulic presses for sleeping purposes actual question/discussion for the community though, how heavy would you purchase a weighted blanket at? i’ve seen them at 20lbs max. my current blanket was a gift and i’m weird about making big purchases (probably the autism, maybe concern for my wallet) because i know these blankets can be expensive curious if they get any heavier or if there is any concern with too much weight? if i don’t have pressure on me i can’t sleep at all and i’m starting to find that my current set up is not enough pressure also do they make cuter ones? mine is grey and its quilted kind of. they make covers for the kind i have but many are displeasing to my eye submitted by /u/Useful-Necessary9385 to r/AutismInWomen [link] [comments]

My 16 yo sweet girl and I said goodbye for the last time
She would have been 17 in June and I always thought she'd be around so much longer. But just in the last 9 months she began having vision problems, less activity, muscle loss, then finally appetite issues and began to really decline. She pushed through so many challenges, changes, and health issues through the years and I think she just became a forever constant for my life. But we found out it was cancer and there wasn't going to be any pushing through this one. So we took a weekend and hung onto each other before I took her to the vet wrapped up with some of her favorite toys in her favorite blanket and held her, whispering in her ear as she left. And now I can't even comprehend that 2/25 was weeks ago, it still feels like yesterday. I still think I see her out of the corner of my eye some days. Others I do routines or habits that I haven't had with her in some time without thinking. But mostly I just miss how matter of fact she was. At my side every morning waking and every night going to sleep. She would typically walk me to the door when I left and greet me when I came back. Talking to me all the while. And her fur. Her belly was so soft and over the years she finally let me just plant my face in her softest wispies. And I would take regular breaks from work to interrupt her napping for scritches and cuddles. Looking back I see so much more clearly how bonded and in love we were. She really became a snuggler and a lap cat after years of being an independent huntress and ruler of the cul-de-sac. (Four squirrels and two uninjured hummingbirds in one week!) Ms. Felicity Bustle. Cici, originally crazy cat. No one will ever hold my heart like you did. Singular, beautiful. So very cat in the best cat way. I'll miss you forever. I'll think of you often and feel you holding onto me when I carried you. The weight of your head laying on my chest. The roughness of the chin scritches you loved. Love bites with your one chipped tooth. The heat of a furball against the back of my knee curled up under the covers. The way you hugged my arm when snuggling in bed. I hope there's something more on the other side and I hope I'll see you there one day. Forever is too long without you, sweet girl. submitted by /u/SilvanSoulSmith to r/seniorkitties [link] [comments]

How do you wash (and more importantly, dry) a 25 lb weighted blanket?
UPDATE! Thank you all for your help and input (except the ones saying to just toss it in the dryer. THIS THING IS THE SIZE OF A QUEEN SIZE BED, WEIGHS 25 LBS, AND FULL OF GLASS BEADS for crying out loud!) I will be hand-washing it in the tub completely, as I've never washed the entire thing in the time I've had it and it could probably use it. Then I'm going to let it drain in the tub as much as possible. And finally I'll get my bf to help me get it into a big rubbermaid tub, slide it CAREFULLY down the stairs, and out the back door to drape over my big aluminum multifunction ladder on the covered back porch, using a couple chairs to help flare it out and get better airflow. I'll also be adding something to the water to help kill any potential mildew (either a little bit of bleach, or Lysol laundry sanitizer). It's supposed to be in the mid-to-high 80s here for the next 10 days with no more rain, so that's looking promising. *********************** I haven’t needed to really launder my weighted blanket before. I’m pretty good about keeping a duvet cover in it. However, a few days ago, my cat puked on my bed and the wetness soaked through the cover and into the weighted blanket. I tried using the carpet/upholstery foam I use on the carpets when she does it on the floor. All that did was make the dried wet-spot stain bigger. It’s about 6-inches in diameter now. I’ve been trying to research. Half the tips say to take it to the laundromat and use an industrial strength washing machine. The other half say to wash it in the tub. Either way, how do I dry it after?! It already weighs 25 lbs and will likely gain another 15 with the water (queen size blanket). I’m ok washing it in the tub, as I did all my laundry like that for months back when I was either totally broke or my washing machine was broken and I couldn’t afford another one. But how would I dry it after? My shower curtain rod is just a tension rod and would never hold that much weight to drip dry. I do have a covered back porch. I’m thinking I might need to hang strong lines (or coated chain) out there to drape this thing across. Edit for spelling submitted by /u/TealBlueLava to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

[MASTER POST] Headphones and fidgets and weighted blankets (oh my!)
Hello, r/autism! The mod team is in the process of building a new and improved wiki, which will cover some of the most commonly-discussed topics here. In the coming weeks and months, we'll create several of these master posts to gather answers from the sub. They'll be linked in the wiki for easy access. :) This time, we want your recommendations for sensory items. Many people visit this sub to ask what type of noise-cancelling headphones, stim toys, chewelry, weighted blankets, or sensory-friendly clothing they should buy, or whether those items are worth the money. Can you tell us what you (or your autistic loved one) have found helpful? submitted by /u/cakeisatruth to r/autism [link] [comments]

Nmom threatened by my weighted blanket
You can’t make this shit up guys, it’s ridiculous. So I was pressured by my Nmom to get off my depression and anxiety meds last year and have been trying to deal with my issues on my own. I did some research and found people suggesting sleeping with a weighted blanket to help me with my poor sleeping. It came in yesterday and I was excited. My mom saw this new blanket but was shocked how heavy it was and asked me why I’m going to sleep with metal and I said I don’t think there is metal in it, I think it’s just heavy beads or something. Anyways, she just said why do you need this. I just said it’s nice that my covers won’t slip off. She walked away looking annoyed but doesn’t matter, day went on. This morning she was acting super nice. Asking how did I sleep, and if I feel better. That’s weird , she never asked me that before. Then she said “how’s the blanket?” And I said it kept me warm. Then she looked at me and said “I’m not stupid That’s not what this blanket is for.” And I just looked at her and said “ok, it helped and I’m good thanks for asking.” She then said, well I brought in the box so you can decide if it’s not working to return it. I was so angry but grey rocking and calmly said “no thanks, I don’t need the box, and I’m not planning to return it.” Literally my skin is just crawling that she doesn’t even want me to have a weighted blanket. She is literally annoyed that I have anxiety, and she’s acting so weird trying to get me to talk about my mental health and I will NEVER do that. Just needed support because honestly it gets so stressful sometimes to think I can’t even get things for myself without. Being so heavily criticized. submitted by /u/Optionsnewbie455 to r/raisedbynarcissists [link] [comments]

To those that are using/tried a weighted blanket, would you recommend one?
I'm thinking about buying a weighted blanket to improve my sleep and I was wondering what other people's opinion on them are. Would you recommend one? I can be a hot sleeper and I have ulcerative colitis. I currently use a Hungarian goose down 4.5 tog duvet however when it's particularly hot, I just use a bed sheet. If you have one, how do you use it? Do you use it on top of a duvet or one its own? The particular one I'm looking at is John Lewis' own branded one and I can't decided whether to get a 4.5kg or 7kg one. I currently weigh between 60-64kg. submitted by /u/mufc88 to r/AskUK [link] [comments]
