Not a topper pearl, but a polish that can be worn on its own and makes my nails look like they are white pearls. Satin-y glazed look, not overly sparkly. I have eyeballed Mooncat's Pearl Clutcher, but it looks like it may be more sparkly than satin-y? I also saw bkl's Maman in the Frankenstein part 1 release, and may try to get one if they bring it back next month. If any of you have that one, what do you think of it? Any other suggestions? I’m looking for any polishes that create the effect shown in the pictures without using gel polish and isn’t super streaky/requires only 2 coats? Is anything like this available? I’ve tried OPI Funny Bunny & Essie Marshmallow and both just look like dull whites to me without the milky effect I’m looking for Thanks in advance for any recommendations! ---------------------------- UPDATE: thank you all so much for such great responses and recommendations, I read through every one of them! I decided for what I'm looking for, Londontown Kur Illuminating Nail Concealer in Original (white) was the best match because I want a bright white (blue leaning) milky color and most other similar options leaned more neutral/peachy/cream (which I already have). Another bonus is that it has a super easy to apply formula/can be used for an easy low maintenance manicure. Note: for anyone who's interested, this does have very subtle fine shimmer/pearlescent finish that makes it have that blue/brightening glow. I've also ordered Zoya Madison as that seems the closest color-wise to the inspo pics (and no shimmer). It wasn't recommended here, but after testing it, I'm happy with both the color (bright & clean, blue-toned milky pink which contrasts a lot more with my skin than the warm-toned/peachy/nude sheer pinks that I already own, although I'd say Madison is a tad bit more pink than my inspo pics) and formula (was able to get good coverage in 2 coats and isn't perfectly even, but pretty good and only noticeable patchiness is from very close up). Since this post has gotten a decent amount of interest, I summarized what I thought were other great recommendations (and tried to include both indie and drugstore options) for anyone coming across this post and doesn't want to read through all the comments. 3D printing files have been uploaded to maker world! 2026 Nail polish tracker - Free 3D Print Model - MakerWorld Files currently available anywhere from 3 to 9 swatch spots per month, and with borders or no border A few things you may want to know: I print the swatch cylinders in white (PLA), clear would be fine but will need more polish layers to be opaque The "swatch painting holder" is what I stick the swatches in to be able to hold them and paint them more easily. I like how it looks to paint the sides as well as the top. Then I remove them when they are dry and stick them into the board. You should print only a cylinder or two to start so you can adjust the size before you print a bunch! I intended to design this so the swatches would snap into the board and wouldn't fall out. Last year some of my swatches were too small, so I just used super glue or a dab of topcoat in the bottom of the hole to secure those. The swatch file I uploaded is a tiny bit bigger than the one I printed last year, but I expect they will turn out slightly differently for everyone! How they fit may also depend on which side of the swatch you plan to paint - I painted the top, and the bottom often had a little lip that helped them stay in. If you want the swatch to be even height with the borders/text, don't adjust the height dimension. If a swatch is stuck in the board that I want removed, I just use a wire cutter or something similar to pull it out (something sharp will crush and grab on to it easier so you can pull it out) Speaking of which side you paint on, u/shayter had the idea to sand them or apply a builder gel layer if you prefer a smoother surface! I printed the new 6 spots with borders using transparent PETG base and transparent blue PETG letters, it printed well but the letters didn't have as much contrast as I wanted! I tried painting the letters with nail polish to make them pop a little more! All that is to say, it's definitely an option to print the text and borders in white and then paint them :) In 2025 I printed my base in clear PETG and the borders/text in PLA without changing print settings between (edit: thanks to the folks in the comments who told me PETG and PLA don't work well together!). Eventually the borders started to delaminate from the base, but none of the text delaminated. So, I'm not sure if the delam was due to the settings/materials or the how thin the borders were. I made the borders thicker on the 2026 design (1 mm increased to 1.5 mm) I've included a "no swatch cylinder" which is what I put in the board when I had empty spaces. Or, whatever size you end up printing your swatches, just decrease their height by 2 mm for the no-swatch version. I think that's all you need to know, I hope it works for you!!! For some initial context here I had previously avoided thermals as I believed I wouldn't get an "even" transition and I worried that I would be stuck looking at wildly different lengths on the thermal tips. Turns out the joke was on me. Day 0 with freshly painted nails and I'm having so much fun watching them dry and seeing the black tips! They suddenly turn entirely cold and I panic, but needlessly so. Turns out that as some thermals dry they can run cold for a bit while the evaporation is occuring. (Thanks for educating me Reddit) The only times I see the white warm color again will be when I first wake up in the morning, during my gym sessions, and after having a cocktail. I guess I run hot when I sleep and my "alcohol flush" isn't limited to my face 🫠 Turns out this entire time I was casually forgetting my low blood pressure, so yeah, I'm not sure what I was expecting lol. The title is self explanatory, but I’m wondering if anyone has found a truly one coat white polish? I’m looking for cream/ivory as well. I have multiple one-coat black polishes already. :) I used two coats of Mooncat’s White Rabbit for the mani in the photo. This mani was for Dimension Nails’ last nail art challenge. I’m really into glow in the dark nail polish. In my last deep dive, someone asked what happens if you buy super duper glow powder and mix them into nail polish. It sounded really fun, so here I am. I honestly don’t know what to flair this. 👓 The ingredients 🧪 I bought these powders from Technoglow in their ultra glow line of powders. I was originally going to get Lit from Culture Hustle, but from what I can tell Technoglow uses the same pigments for cheaper. Specifically, I bought the following glow powders from their ultra glow line: 1. Orange to gold 2. Red (the non sulfur version) 3. Cotton candy pink 4. Fluorescent pink 5. Blue 6. Green 7. Aqua These pigments are advertised as being safe to mix into nail polish, and they include instructions to do so on their website. They glow with regular light, and glow more brightly with UV light. I bought a mica suspending polish base from a local Australian manufacturer (DIY Nail Polish, untinted base). I think there are restrictions around shipping overseas so you will have to find a maker in your country. Any 10-free untinted mica suspension base should work. Clear nail polish doesn’t suspend the pigment well and glitter suspension base is a bit thick. 🔬 The process ⚗️ This is the part where I say I’m an idiot. I have no experience mixing polish nor working with chemicals. I do this at my own risk. Technoglow advertises their powders as safe to mix with polish and the polish base is advertised as 10-free. So I have to imagine this is relatively safe, but I have no idea really. I would strongly caution to not inhale the powders, they’re quite finely dusted and get into the air easily. I would also recommend not getting the polish on your skin out of an abundance of caution. Anyway, I fully monkey moded this. I made a little funnel out of paper, spooned the powder into the empty bottle, poured the polish base in without the funnel, then shook em for 20 minutes or so. Technoglow recommends a ratio of 1:4 glow powder to polish base ratio. I probably ended up doing roughly 1:3 because I really wanted the glow payoff and didn’t care how nasty the texture was. 😍 The result 🤔 This was more successful than it had any right to be, but it’s a bit of a mixed bag. The DIY polishes glow really well under a UV light, and glow decently with my regular phone flash. Here are my opinions on all the powders: Green 💚: the brightest glow pigment of all. But Holo Taco’s GITD taco is just as bright and easier to use, so it’s not really worth the whole exercise. Teal 🩵: this one’s really bright and a pretty colour. One of my favourites and I think I’ll be using it a lot. Blue 💙: pretty bright, but really gritty and grainy. It has the same particle size as most of the others but feels so much grittier and uneven. Might be user error idk. Cotton candy pink 🩷: it’s nice but not different enough from neon pink. I didn’t need both. Neon pink 🩷: my preferred pink. It has a smaller particle size so it’s not gritty, and the neon pink is a really cute colour. It can be worn on its own like a jelly neon pink and glows really brightly. Definitely my favourite of the bunch! Orange 🧡: this one was really bright. It leans highlighter yellow in its glow when fully charged then fades to orange. I suspect this is the same type of pigment used in Snail Works Vegan Firefly Extract. Red ❤️: this one has the weakest glow which is a shame because the colour is sick. It has a smaller particle size and is a pale white which is pretty nice to use. I used the non-sulphur version because I didn’t want stinky nails, but the sulphur probably glows better. I would recommend going for the 30 micron powders. 50 microns is noticeably gritty and triggers my sensory issues. My favourites were neon pink, cyan and orange. The red is also fun, but you need a UV light to get decent payoff and it fades quickly. 💰 Was it worth it? 💅 Tbh probably not 😂 unless you really get a kick out of polish DIY, I’d recommend sticking to GITD top coats made by Holo Taco and Fancy Gloss. Holo Taco’s green glow top coat is bright af. Fancy Gloss has glow top coats in almost every colour and they’re almost as bright as my DIY ones and significantly more usable. These DIY ones are too opaque to use as top coats and the 50 micron ones have a real nasty gritty feeling that tingles my spine. This is probably partly my fault for using too much glow powder though. This method also isn’t much cheaper. Fancy Gloss’s toppers go for $9 USD each. A half ounce of glow powder is $6 USD, and a 120ml of mixing medium was $12 AUD (around $8 USD). So if you have spare bottles lying around and mix a lot of these toppers, it is a bit cheaper. Idk if this is a big deal. I am invited to the wedding of an old friend. We are currently at the location. The wedding is tomorrow. Okay so. I have acrylics. They are white currently. Not like "super white" it is like an ombré with a "pearl" effect. I did not do them for the wedding. I do them every month because I like it and it prevents myself to scratch the shit out of my body. My fiancé and I arrived at the hotel yesterday and we went to a group dinner. It is not a rehearsal dinner, that is not a thing here. We say "Hi" to the couple, give hugs etc etc. The bride grabs my hands, looks at my nails, and says "Wow!". Then she leaves to say Hi to our other friends. It brings us to now. Like literally an hour ago. I get a text from the bride saying this: "Hey there! Just a quick request: the dress code specifically avoids white attire. Please take off the white nail polish. Thanks " Now I can not just take it off and there is not a nail studio in this resort. But I feel bad that I did not even know that I was doing something wrong. Been looking for a substitute for my staple white polish Color Club French tip. Thumb Mooncat White Rabbit. This is SO bad, just streaky and not opaque. I bought two bottles of this because I’ve had great experiences with Mooncat and the reviews were good. Pointer the second bottle of Mooncat White Rabbit (in case first bottle is manufacturing defect). First coat same as before, second coat much better but still uneven. Middle Zoya Purity, definitely requires two coats minimum, but NO streaks and no bumpiness. Ring my staple white polish Color Club French Tip. This is the best so far, almost opaque in first coat, perfect on second coat. The reason I’ve been trying to find a new white is that I’ve never found any ingredient list for Color Club polishes and it smells suss (even for nail polish). It performs so well though Pinky old white stamping polish I have Maniology Bam White. My (28M) wife (29F) came home the other day with this new black-and-white speckled nail polish. I thought it was super cool, and was excited for her to use it (because she was excited about it too). She and our daughter (9F) did their nails today and used the cool new speckled polish. I saw my wife’s toes and complimented them, then got really excited when I realized, “Oooo, if you did like a sky blue underneath it would look like a ROBIN EGG. Ooo I kinda want to do that, like on my big toe, it’d look so cool.” My wife made a stinky face, then shook her head no. I asked why not, and she said it would be weird. My wife comes from a very conservative background, and this topic (men being overly feminine) makes her uncomfortable. Despite that, I think doing one of my big toes in the cool polish would be harmless. I asked her if I’m allowed to think it looks nice, and she said yes, but she didn’t want me putting it on my toe. I asked if our daughter (who chose Spider-Man valentines this year) should be discouraged from liking “boy things,” and she said no, that’s fine. Then I replied with, “Am I not allowed to like this then? I’m not gonna do up my whole body, not even another nail, I just think this one design would look cool.” My wife got up and left the room. I typed this, then she texted me telling me I was being ridiculous and she hopes I get over myself soon. AITA for arguing my position about doing one of my toes with nail polish? EDIT: Forgot to add, I told my wife our daughter would probably think it’s cool too, and she replied, “No, she’d think it’s weird.” I asked, “Why would she think it’s weird? She’d only think that’s weird if she was told to believe that’s weird.” This is when my wife became more uncomfortable and left. EDIT 2: We took some time to cool off, then I joined her downstairs and asked her to defend her position on the matter (since I think breaking down gender roles is important). We came to an agreement (after me pushing for her to say it out loud) that girls can like whatever they want regardless of age, but boys can’t once they “aren’t kids anymore, it makes her uncomfortable.” I have a pretty serious problem with that sentiment, and I pushed, and we argued, and now she’s claiming I’ve ruined our day.
