AITAH for calling off the engagement because he isn't proactive?
Me, 37f, just broke up with my fiance, 35m, because I can't take him dragging ass anymore on things I consider to be important. My guy thinks im overreacting, my trusted friends are on the fence( 4 votes of "leave his ass" and 2 votes of "be patient") so I'm turning to reddit😄 We own a home together, and his children live with us every other week. I am a proactive person. I identify problems when they are small and manageable, and try to solve them at that "size." He is a reactive person. I will identify a concern, bring it to him, and he does NOTHING to rectify it until it grows into a big problem. Then he waits some more. When it is finally 3 alarm fire, he springs into action...or enlists the help of others to fix this problem run amok. If this only applied to things that affected HIS life, it wouldn't be so bad. I'd chuckle, shake my head, and leave him to his own folly and adventures. But the stuff he pussyfoots negatively impact both me and his children. First was setting boundaries with his BM. He's conflict avoidant, and she's disrespectful. I asked him several times to set rules and boundaries with her, because she's only doing what he allows. He wouldn't. Things came to a head and I put her in her place and threatened to call the police if she steps foot on my property. She backed off, and we have peace now, but why did IIIII have to do it? 2nd, his daughter's education. When his custody time increased from every other weekend to every other week, I spent more time getting to know his children (lovelies, they really are). I noticed his middle child was performing faaaar below grade level, and brought it to his attention, being a former schoolteacher and familiar with development benchmarks. I suggested he discuss this with BM. He did nothing. I checked in with him periodically. Nothing. Finally, after 4 months of him doing NOTHING, I released the Kraken on him, told him he wasn't a good father, went on sex strike until he got her AND her little brother some tutoring (" no preschool, no p*ssy") put his family in a groupchat to let them know the girl was behind and suggested we all tutor her in rotation to catch her up. Family was all on board, and over the course of several months, she was catching up to speed. She still is below grade level, but she's doing soooo much better now. . Little brother is progressing at an impressive rate, and fiancé actively tutors him daily with worksheets and flashcards.. But why couldn't HE be bothered without me cussing him out first??? "I don't work on your time...Just because its important to you doesn't mean its important to me." The straw that broke the camor's back was this winter. I own a hair salon, and injured my wrist around New Years. Per doctor's orders,I have to go to half-time for the duration of winter and cannot style any hair after work (read-repetitive movement after my allotted time). Before the doctor gave me limits, I braided her hair elaborately, in a style that could last 3 weeks before needing to be taken down for washing and conditioning. I let him know I cannot care for his daughter's hair until Spring (something I enjoy doing when she is in our custody, shes adorable), so him and the BM need to figure out something else. Most importantly, her hair needs to be taken down at the 1 month mark absolute latest, because the braids will matte and begin to turn into dreadlocks if left in longer. Girl shows up for custody at the 4 week mark with the braids still in. I ask him did he speak with BM, he says he handled it. Whatever. Child returns at the 6 WEEK MARK WITH THE SAME BRAIDS. I pop her Rubberbands on my off day, and, sure enough, her hair has started matting into dreadlocks at the root. I show my fiancé, and he is shocked. Im like, now, is it bad enough for you to do something about it? He texts his mother, combs out the girls hair himself (which takes hours and is painful for her. Had he done it when I first suggested, it woulda taken 1 hour)), and takes her to his mother's house the next day for washing and braiding. Once the kids leave, I snap again, and let him know his lack of action is negatively impacting his family, and demand to know. He admits he never spoke to BM. So he is lying now. Why does he have a pattern of waiting until small problems get big until he does something about it? He replies that he prefers to do that. If it's a problem, he'll handle it when it gets big. I tell him that sounds like a life of misery to me. "A b**ch like me will NEVER let a small problem get big if I can do something about it. If we marry, and you only want to fix big problems, I will be doing 80% of the problem solving in the marriage, because I wont LET the problems get big. And that sounds exhausting. I want out. " My brother thinks I worry too much, they aren't my kids , so i should "NACHO". But I cant sit idly by and let things escalate, and don't want a man who is ok with that. I'm throwing away a good man trying to be controlling. I think he is a procrastinator, and have lost sexual attraction to him. AITAH? TLDR: My fiance is a procrastinator who thinks im a nag, and I want out of the relationship. submitted by /u/taporizer to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

My mum is crashing out because I braided my own hair
So I 21F decided I should learn to braid my own hair because it's cost effective and braiders don't even do my hair like I want usually. It's also winter and I'm going back to uni so I wanted something that will keep my hair for a bit. I've been telling my mum for weeks that I'm gonna do it myself and she didn't say anything. Over Christmas we visited family and she asked if I wanted to go to my cousin's hairdresser but I asked if she could even do what I wanted and still said even afterwards that I was going to do it myself. Anyway, she saw my progress last night and absolutely lost it, calling me stupid and yelling at me for doing it myself because I've never done it before, saying that I'll have to take it out in a week (based on what, I can't tell you). This morning she yelled some more and said that I need to take it out. She's basically saying she's going to abandon me because I didn't do as she said so clearly I don't need her. I think she's being so unreasonable but idk what to do about it. I'm an only child so I'm not really sure who to turn to. She's always complaining that she does every for me and I don't know how to do anything alone but whenever I actually try and do things myself she literally goes ballistic. submitted by /u/smallest-star to r/africanparents [link] [comments]

I Love C-Dramas but the Workplace + Romance Nonsense Is ACTUALLY UNHINGED
I need to scream into the void for a minute because if I see ONE MORE “professional workplace” drama that has clearly never employed a real human being, I’m going to lose it. Also, please bear in mind this is all just my opinion. Let’s start with bars, because apparently no drama writer on Earth has ever closed one. 1. THE BAR DELUSION Why are there: NO APRONS NO SPILLAGE NO CLOTHS NO SANITISER NO GLASS WASHERS NO MOPS NO END-OF-NIGHT CLEANING NO CASHING OUT Ever. Bars in dramas are pristine emotional confession booths where: Bartenders never sweat no one wipes down the bar spirits shelves are spotless nobody counts tills everyone just… leaves romantically at closing time REALITY CHECK: Closing a bar is 90% cleaning, counting money, arguing over missing change, and collapsing at 3am smelling like citrus and regret. Also: WHY IS EVERY BARTENDER DRESSED LIKE A 1920s UPPER-CLASS BALLROOM WAITER?? White shirt. Black waistcoat. Bow tie. ARM GARTERS HOLDING FOLDED SLEEVES?? That is not functional workwear. That is Great Gatsby cosplay. That outfit would last one shift before it died a sticky death. 2. HAIR. WORN. LOOSE. Especially behind bars. I LOVE the competent women running bars in dramas — but WHY is their hair always loose?? Loose hair behind a bar means: hair in drinks hair catching on bottles hair touching sticky surfaces hair + flames = panic constant hair touching = hygiene nightmare Any real bartender or manager would have that hair tied back in: a bun a braid a claw clip literally ANYTHING Loose hair is for photoshoots, not pouring drinks. 3. WORKPLACE FASHION THAT WOULD (imo) GET YOU FIRED Looking at you, modern office C-dramas. Deep V dresses. Skin-tight outfits. Stilettos for 12-hour workdays. Winter coats are worn open with bare ankles and heels on icy pavements. These women would: be pulled aside by HR get “dress code discussions” be whispered about be taken LESS seriously, not more This is not “power dressing”. It’s an editorial fantasy pretending to be feminism. Also: WHERE ARE THE COMMUTE SHOES? WHERE ARE THE TOTE BAGS? WHAT ARE YOU CARRYING, VIBES?? 4. THE MALE/FEMALE LEAD REJECTION LOGIC (AKA EMOTIONAL COWARDICE) Nothing enrages me more than this pattern: ML/FL chases FL/ML relentlessly Encourages emotional attachment Accepts their time, care, vulnerability Enjoys being wanted FL/ML finally proposes or asks clearly. ML/FL: No Not once. Not twice. But THREE TIMES. Excuse me??? You are not traditional. You are ego-preserving and afraid of commitment. And specifically aimed at dramas where women propose to men: We do not live in a society where women proposing is shameful. Rejecting her because you need to feel in control is misogyny with mood lighting. 5. POWER IMBALANCE NONSENSE CEO × subordinate Boss × employee Emotional pursuit + professional leverage And we’re supposed to find this romantic?? If this were real life, HR would be on FIRE. 6. CONTINUITY CRIMES Special mention to: doors magically closing between shots characters bursting through said doors like Superman cups refilling themselves coats teleporting on and off weather is changing every five minutes One scene: door open. Next shot: door closed. Next shot: DRAMATIC ENTRY. *cough cough Only For Love cough cough* Pick a reality. Any reality. 7. HISTORICAL DRAMAS BETRAYING STRONG WOMEN This one hurts the most. Also spoilers if you haven't watched Kill Me, Love Me. I love that show, however. We’re given: a strong female general quiet strength independence emotional restraint moral clarity Then in ONLY A FEW EPISODES: self-doubt spiral emotional destabilisation romantic fixation dependence on an obviously manipulative crown prince Why do writers always decide: It doesn’t deepen her character. It undermines everything she was. 8. INTIMACY SCENES: AWKWARD AND PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE I understand censorship. I do. But why is the substitute: sloppy kissing sounds mic’d like ASMR clothes disappearing via teleportation camera is shaking like an earthquake ceiling lights TREMBLING?? If you’re shaking ceiling fixtures, someone is injured. That is not how bodies or buildings work. 9. THE ONE EXCEPTION: SELF-AWARE NONSENSE The ONLY time this works is when a drama is self-aware enough to mock itself, aka A Dream Within A Dream. Example: FL or ML (cannot remember which) says they don’t need to remove hairpins because “they never get removed in dramas anyway.” YES. THANK YOU. Because historically: Someone would stab themselves Someone would lose an eye No one is sleeping with a chandelier on their head That level of meta-honesty? CHEF’S KISS. 10. FINAL THOUGHT I don’t hate these dramas. I hate: emotional manipulation framed as romance labour being erased women weakened for plot convenience physics being personally offended HR violations masquerading as love stories At this point, watching C-dramas is just me quietly tallying: who would be fired who needs therapy who should run in the opposite direction And honestly? That might be the healthiest way I've found to watch them. TL;DR: I enjoy C-dramas, but workplace and romance logic routinely ignores reality. Bars magically clean themselves, bartenders wear Great Gatsby cosplay instead of aprons, hair is worn loose in hygiene nightmares, office fashion would get people hauled into HR, power-imbalanced romances are framed as cute, rejection logic is ego dressed as tradition, continuity breaks physics, historical dramas weaken strong women for plot convenience, and intimacy scenes defy both anatomy and building regulations. I now cope by mentally tallying who would be fired, who needs therapy, and who should run. Note: Wow, I did not expect this to blow up — thank you all so much for jumping in with your own examples, rants, and laughs. This turned into a glorious group roast of continuity chaos and I’ve been having a great time reading and replying to everyone’s comments. Please feel free to keep adding your own “wait… what??” moments — clearly none of us are watching dramas normally anymore 😂 submitted by /u/InsanityMusings to r/CDrama [link] [comments]

This Winter Anime season shows that the Woke corruption is spreading
We have already discussed many occurrences of Wokeness creeping up in Japanese video game companies such as Sony, Square Enix and so on. If you watch Anime only occasionally for the most successful shows you won't yet notice the pattern, but if you add up the little occurrences and keep your pattern recognition radar turned on, you can start to see SJW ideas beginning to occur and spread. In A Gatherer's Adventure in Isekai (Sozai Saishuka no Isekai Ryokouki), the final arc revolves around High-Elves experiencing inbreeding depression on a genetic level because they are too proud and live isolated from others. If you take the hint, they represent the Japanese population. A fabulous drag queen fairy chides them and pushes them to open up to other populations, illustrated with a High-Elf having a baby with an Elf with darker complexion and dreadlocks. If you follow the Woke rules of how things are coded, you can guess what this means. After all, the West has already been subjected to a barrage of mixed race couples to promote miscegenation and open their borders. Welcome to the club. The worst offender this season was Dusk Beyond the End of the World (Towa no Yuugure). In the future offered in this world, marriage between two people is a thing of the past, replaced with the concept of Ehlsea, which can include any number of individuals of any gender. Despite an action-packed opening, the purpose of the rest of the show seemed to be the encounter of several Ehlseas. Here are their compositions, in chronological order: one woman two men, two women, an heterosexual couple but they are incestuous siblings, and finally, the two main characters have a pity Ehlsea with a girl with darker complexion and big braids. Once again, this is coded in a way that is similar to the previous example. One can argue that this show doesn't push polyamory any more than classical harem shows, but harem shows are clearly fantasies revolving around the gratification of the target audience through the main character as a vessel. Dusk Beyond the End of the World, however, depicts the way society at large functions rather than making an exception for the POV character, and it goes for high-concept SF rather than fanservice. A less obvious example but an indicator nonetheless, in My Gift Lvl 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon (Mugen Gacha), humans are discriminated against and the main character goes on a revenge crusade against the other species. Then comes a realization: "Discrimination is the problem, not the world itself." That doesn't sound too bad, but I will remind you that awareness to social injustices, thus being awakened to racial discrimination, is the textual origin of the word "Woke". It's not very in-character for the notoriously racist Japanese. And yet, fighting against discrimination is becoming a recurring trend in Japanese productions. If it was too subtle for the moral lesson, Gachiakuta's boss of the main characters has a word for you. From what I have read recently, one of the most egregious examples is The Swordsman Dubbed the Sorcerer of Countless Swords (Senken no Majutsushi to Yobareta Kenshi), in which the main character protects any character that was discriminated against for any reason whatsoever (such as hair color). Even though it was before the Winter season, I will also point out that many modern anime have started censoring female outfits to remove cleavage or side boobs or just a little skin, such as in My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Dandadan and Headhunted to Another World. I am sure you can find plenty other examples, feel free to add them in the comments. A lot of Anime are based on Manga, which are often based on Light Novels, so the proto-Woke talking points have been seeded years ago and we are only seeing them sprout right now. I am not saying that Anime is cooked, just that Japan, a few years late, seems to have reached the end of innocence stage, in which leftist ideals eventually start going against traditional heterosexual relationships, they start fussing over female representation and avoiding the male gaze, they start being obsessed with the importance of fighting against various identity-based (rather than class-based) discriminations, and they start showing an unrealistic amount of miscegenation, all of which get increasingly pushed in media. This is the innocent and harmless proto-Woke stage, still sparse rather than following the guidelines to the letter, a few steps before becoming the only acceptable doctrine absolutely everywhere, with anyone thinking differently painted as evil. You can say that it is not happening, but I am not going to be sorry for noticing early before it becomes obvious to everyone, this has happened before in the West (once burned, twice shy). And then when it gets more frequent and more people start noticing, that's when we will hear that it is a good thing that Japan embraces progressive Western values, that it was about time that they get with the program. Maybe it is pushed by ESG forays into the Japanese industry (as we have seen in the video games sector), or they think that it appeals to a wider audience, or it could be that the new generation of artists was exposed to too much Western art/propaganda. Brace yourselves for the future, given enough time the last refuge might turn out just as rotten as the rest. submitted by /u/tyranicalmoon to r/KotakuInAction [link] [comments]

Braids in, hair itching, can't use oils
Hi, I had a really bad case of flaking earleir this year and advice here told me to use antifungal shampoo and no more oils on the sculp and this saved my life. For context, the flaking was really had to the point that my hair was coming out with it and I did try to wash with the antifungal and then use oil and it still flaked... Now I have braids which exposes more of my scalp to the dry winter air and the itching and flaking already began. There was a gel my mom/braider used last time and it helped but she used something different this time and my scalp is flaking just a few days in. Any antifungal oils or anything I can put on my scalp to protect it without making it flake? submitted by /u/God_Lover77 to r/BlackHair [link] [comments]

Tips for braiding hair as a non-black person?
For context, I teach 3rd graders and tomorrow is the day before winter break so the few students I will have will be having a free day. One of my sweet kids wants her hair braided tomorrow as another teacher is braiding her little sister’s. She didn’t give any specific style but I know she has recently been wearing twists. I told her I will definitely try to do it, but I am nervous that I will mess it up. I can french/dutch braid myself and other friends hair like it’s nothing, but what do I need to know before I do her hair? Do I need to bring any oils for her hair? I’ve watched tutorials all evening. I have never braided 4c hair before so I need all the help I can get! submitted by /u/Beautiful-777 to r/askblackpeople [link] [comments]

Looking for winter hair suggestions to prevent rat’s nests
Hey all, I’m looking to see if anyone has any suggestions to prevent rat’s nests/hella big knots/borderline dreads from happening in your hair. I have about waist length, relatively fine hair, it’s not very thick. I current wear it in a pony tail, then with a skinny elastic black headband (I tuck the arms of my glasses under the band so they don’t move when I run), then I wear a buff wrap folded in half over my head to keep my ears warm. What happens is that my jackets (yes I wear multiple) rub along the bottom of my neck when I run and can cause this huge knot in my hair (I can only imagine this is basically how dreadlocks are made). Sometimes the only way to resolve it is to cut the hair out (but I really hate doing this since I like the length). Does anyone have any suggestions to prevent this? Gear, hair styles, products, I’m all ears. Or even better ways to get these knots out. Thanks! Edit: just to add a clarification, just in case, it’s not the “loose” hair in the pony (aka the ends) that are tangling, it’s the hair right at the nape of my neck that’s pulled up into the pony, so it’s stretch taut. If I have it tied loose (like in a French braid) it’s even worse (or I’m just not capable of creating a tight enough French braid). It just gives it move room to move and the tangles get near cutting out stage. (This happened when I was using an older elastic that didn’t have enough stretch left in it… definitely was new hair tie time.) submitted by /u/Additional-Ear4455 to r/XXRunning [link] [comments]

Why Your Braids Dry Out in Winter—and How to Fix It
Ever notice your braids start looking rougher once the cold hits? One week they’re silky, the next they’re giving crispy ramen vibes. Yeah, winter does that. What Hair Products to Bring to Basic in Winter
Hey everyone, I’m heading to basic training soon and I’m trying to figure out which hair products are actually worth bringing, especially since it’ll be winter. I have medium-long, straight, thin hair that gets dry really easily in cold weather and with constant washing. For people who have already been through basic (especially women): What hair products did you bring or wish you brought that were worth the packing space? Shampoo and conditioner, leave-in conditioner or oils, protective sprays, detanglers, brushes, hair gels, anything that actually worked and didn’t make your hair worse. Also, what daily hairstyles worked that were quick, within regulations, and didn’t cause a lot of breakage? I’ve heard braids might be helpful, but I’m not sure what’s realistic when everything has to be fast and uniform. I want products and routines that people genuinely trust. If something saved your hair from becoming super dry or damaged during basic, I would really appreciate your recommendations. My little brother killed himself because he couldn't get a girlfriend.
He was 22, almost 23 in November. I noticed something seemed off about 2 months ago and asked him what was going on. It was just us at the house, and he's usually a pretty stoic guy hell he loves to laugh and joke around. I really did not expect him to breakdown crying. I hadn't seen him cry since he was a little boy. He talked about how ugly he felt, he felt so undesirable, one thing that stuck with me was him saying he was "so cold all the time". It was honestly really fucking hard for me not to cry. I was surprised because I just kind of assumed he had a regular social life yknow? Few good friends, a girl here and there, stuff like that. I did notice he stopped going out as much a few years ago and he said he had to drop a lot of friends in the name of "self improvement" which I did see him improving himself A LOT these past few years and just kinda thought like "nice, good for him" but now I'm starting to wonder if he was doing all that in hopes of getting a girl. This was all 2 months ago and I was still thinking about it but idk I guess maybe I thought he'd cry it out and kinda move on to the next part of the story or something? I really didn't know. 3 weeks ago my brother was found after hanging himself in his closet and from what I'm told his note mostly just referenced his struggles with dating and his appearance. I don't understand. He was such a handsome young man, his hair was so full and beautiful with that amazing dark brown color to it, his eyes were so beautiful the way they'd switch between green and blue depending on how the light hit them, his voice was so pleasant to listen to, he was so funny he'd have you sore the next day from laughing, he was so smart he taught himself so many things he knew so much about history, culture, science, philosophy, always such a quick learner and such an incredibly hard worker. He was always the first to show up and the last to leave at every job he'd had. He was so kind helpful, giving our nieces and nephews $100 for their birthdays, learning how to braid hair for our nieces, always looking out for people who might need help. He was so balanced, strong yet gentle, capable yet humble, beautiful yet modest. He was such a good cook, even if it didn't turn out the best you could tell he cooked with love and passion. He did everything with a passion you very rarely see in people. Hell he even watched movies, read books, and listened to music with a passion. I remember as a kid he used to always tear up during movies and at songs. Hell, I remember when we were little and he cried at the end of kill bill 2. He even taught himself ASL (for our cousin in another state) and Japanese to damn near FLUENCY. I wanted to learn Spanish so bad in high school and couldn't get past the first grammar lesson. I was honestly in awe of him for that. This kid liked a challenge too, he'd be taking cold showers, sleeping without a blanket in the winter, doing pushups until he literally couldn't lift his arms, seeing how long he can study for, how much money could he make in a week. I think he liked seeing what he could withstand. He was so sentimental. Always believing everyone had so much intrinsic value and getting so upset when things were unfair. When our aunt's dog died he sat there with that dog for an entire day, never moving, just trying to comfort the dog on his last day. A comfort he was not given. His funeral's on Sunday and I don't know if I'll be able to hold it together. My family wants me to do the slideshow. I've picked the songs runaway train by soul asylum and yokan by a band called dir en grey (he loved both songs so much always sang or played them). It's so fucking hard looking at the pictures, hearing the melodies or lyrics. I feel like my lungs are bruised from trying to stifle my tears. What hurts even more is that there's less and less pictures of him as the years go on, and looking back, you can really start to see the happiness drain from his eyes, how the hell did we not see it. I can't stop crying for even 10 minutes. I feel like I'm literally suffocating. I just want to scream I'm so angry and sad at the same time. I'm never ever going to see my little brother ever again for the rest of my life. We went to my sister's and hearing the deep, endless sobbing of my nieces will be etched into my brain. Seeing a 4 and 8 year old grieve is unimaginable, they cry just like adults almost. I'm honestly terrified for both of them, especially the toddler, she has no other father figure in her life and he took so much pride in being there for her and she loved him more than anything in the world, even copying his mannerisms. And now she'll never see her uncle again, he won't be there when she graduates high school and college, or when she gets married, or when she has a baby of her own. He'll never be there to pick her up somewhere no questions asked, vet a boyfriend, help her with homework, help her move. He took so much pride in being a good male role model for them and now no matter how much these girls might need their uncle, he will never be there again. Ever. I keep going back and forth between anger and agony, spending most of my time somewhere in the middle. He was the greatest person I ever knew and how did he die? How did he spend the last moments of his beautiful, precious life? Alone, in agony, in a dark closet. I didn't get to say goodbye to my little brother. All the meals I cooked for him, the days I took care of him when he was sick, all the babysitting, teaching him to drive, all of it.... and I don't even get a fucking goodbye. Just up and leave. How could you do this to me? To all of us? I fucking hate you. I just don't understand, he was so beautiful. How the hell could he feel ugly? He wanted children so bad and I know they would've been so incredibly smart, kind, beautiful, and capable. Just like he was. I'd like to share something he wrote that's really stuck with me. I'm considering getting it tattoo'd. "When I'm too scared to sleep alone, would you stay up with me on the phone? On that road, watch me go. Oh man, I'm pretty far from home. Hold my head against your chest, I'll listen to your heart while you listen to my breath. On that road, watch me go. Oh man, I'm pretty far from home." I love you so much, Luke. submitted by /u/Infinite-Report4808 to r/TrueOffMyChest [link] [comments]

Dragon Age: The Veilguard | Official Gameplay Reveal
Link to the gameplay video: https://youtu.be/CTNwHShylIg?si=4GRnUGNuHQ6K9jDn Lots of (scattered) news today, so I'm going to try and gather them all under this thread. New screenshots on the Dragon Age website. On that note, we got new information about our player character (including classes and backgrounds), about our companions as well as the setting. Seemingly more linear than Inquisition: "Yeah, so it is a mission-based game. Everything is hand-touched, hand-crafted, very highly curated. We believe that's how we get the best narrative experience, the best moment-to-moment experience. However, along the way, these levels that we go to do open up, some of them have more exploration than others. Alternate branching paths, mysteries, secrets, optional content you're going to find and solve. So it does open up, but it is a mission-based, highly curated game.” - Game Director Corinne Busche. 60 FPS on consoles. About romance: all companions are pansexual. They're not playersexual. If not romanced, companions will pursue a relationship with each other (for instance, Harding might get together with Taash). The game features nudity and spicy scenes, but some companions are more physical and aggressive while others are gentler. Emmrich in particular is referred to as a gentleman that is more intimate and sensual. The game starts with an intricate character creator that includes body sliders and options for pronouns (including they/them). There's a toggle for heterochromia and a larynx customizer, as well as options for scars, tattoos, makeup, etc. Everyone seems to agree they've put a lot of effort in the hair department, and they showed particular care to various curly and braided hairstyles. There seem to be dozens of options to choose from, with "individual strands of hair rendered separately and reacting quite remarkably to in-game physics". You can preview your character in various lighting scenarios and outfits before finalizing your decision. Race and class selection is back, and you can also choose your background from one of six options: Grey Wardens, Veil Jumpers, Antivan Crows, Shadow Dragons, Lords of Fortune and Mourn Watch, which will also grant you a gameplay bonus (Shadow Dragons deal extra damage to Venatori blood cultists, for instance). Speaking of classes: each of them has a special resource bar that fills and operates differently per class. The Rogues' resource bar is called Momentum. One Rogue momentum attack is a "hip fire" option that lets you pop off arrows from the waist, while the Warrior has an attack that lets you lob your shield at enemies. Here's the known specializations: Rogue: Duelist (movement-focused class with a focus on dodges and parries), Saboteur (trap-focused), and Veil Ranger (ranged-focus). Warrior: Reaper (lifesteal and "freaky powers"), Slayer (who can wield the biggest blades), and Champion (tank-focus). The combat is described as more active and modern than Inquisition's, with less shortcuts for active abilities (only three compared to Inquisition's eight). Party size is reduced from four to three, and it looks like we won't be able to directly control our companions other than ordering them to use their abilities which can potentially combo off each other. The game retains some of its strategy and tactical roots through the ability wheel, which stops the action and allows you to issue orders. Companions can be kitted out as support units or healers, as it was heavily requested by the players after DAI, or to engage specific enemy types. The combat system also features "hints" that warn the player to dodge or parry incoming attacks, but they can be disabled. If you only want to focus on the narrative, there is an easy setting, and even a setting that makes it impossible for your character to die in battle. Our hub will be called the Lighthouse. Regarding save game imports: DATV apparently will do away with the Dragon Age Keep (RIP), and instead let you customize your Inquisitor and choose some decisions from past games in the form of tarot cards during character creation. EDIT 2 Level cap is 50. We get one skill point per level (and we can get more through other means). Skill points can be reset. Each companion has five core abilities (three of them being unique to each companion, the other two being shared by every companion of the same class), with decisions you make along the way adding mechanical changes to each ability. Bellara is a mage. Neve specializes in ice magic, so she will have ice-specific abilities that are unique to her. Source. Other stuff I missed earlier: Re: Rook's faction choice. It affects "a bunch of things". Certain conversation options, for instance, are only available to Rooks of a certain faction (for example: a Grey Warden Rook will get dialogue options about the Blight, as they know more about it than other people). It also impacts how people talk to you. You'll get reactivity from characters and then faction reactivity from plots related to that faction. No unique missions, though, so don't expect origins to make a return. Re: character customization. Epler said you can "pretty much adjust anything", from making more muscular characters to curvier builds, and adjust about any shape you want to give your character. You can even alter your height, give them wider shoulders, and more. Like with Inquisition, you can choose between four voices, two of them feminine, two of them masculine - one American and one British for each. Minrathous' design was mostly based off Dorian's comments in Inquisition, particularly his comments on the impressive Winter Palace being "cute". Another important part in the design of the city was making sure that it explicitly showed how Tevinter is built on the bones of the ancient elven empire. As impressive as it is, Minrathour is just a pale imitation of what the elves are capable of. For instance, the elves worked lyrium into their building materials, but Tevinter hasn't figured out how to yet; instead, the imitate the result by adding more gold and gems, but they never quite approach what the elves are capable of. Source. Re: romance. It will be better woven into characters' personal story arc, as well as the core questline. BioWare has also worked to ensure that getting to know your characters as friends feels just as satisfying - and that just because you're not banging your buddy, their (platonic) relationship with you will still continue. They don't want you to feel like you're being cut off from progressing just because you didn't want to romance them. [Source] There is a photo mode. Re: rogues' Momentum. They build it up by attacking, parrying, dodging and you lose it by being hit, so there's a focus with rogues on avoiding damage. They earn momentum quickly, but they also lose it quickly. The warrior class' equivalent of Momentum is called Rage, which builds up more slowly but can't be lost. [source] No microtransactions. submitted by /u/DragonEffected to r/dragonage [link] [comments]

Ep’s gets rape victim expelled from school
Long time reddit reader: first time posting. Background: I went to a very small, religious high school (graduating class less than 20 people) It was so small it didn’t even actually have a campus. It used double wides with pop up walls as classrooms. The education was actually pretty good. The classes were small enough the teachers could give people individual attention. And parents paid a premium to make sure their children were getting a proper, religious-based education. (Science classes didn’t teach evolution, church on Wednesdays, Bible class was a mandatory, ect... ) the majority of the church/school were wonderful people; so it was a great community.... most of the time.... Also: I’m not here to start a debate about whether abortion is good/bad. I believe the decision is entirely up to the person. As you never know the situation that lead them to choosing. Please keep an open mind. (The reasons will become apparent later) To the story: My freshman year of high school, I made friends with a fellow artistic type; who shared most of my classes. I’m gonna call her “Candy”. Candy and I got along swimmingly. She shared a lot of my beliefs. We could talk to each other openly. We also liked a lot of the same movies/books/artwork. So needless to say: if I had a class with her, we were practically glued together. One day, around March, I noticed Candy wasn’t in school. First she was gone a few days. Then it turned into weeks, and then months… The school year ended; and I had no idea what had happened to her (this was a time before cell phones were very popular. And I didn’t know her home number, to keep in contact.) None of the teachers knew anything. A few just told me “oh her mother took her out of school” with no further explanation. Next Year (my sophomore year) in the middle of November classes, she returned! She just appeared at school early morning and started going back to classes. I didn’t have any classes together with her this year; and it took a while before I caught her between classes to catch up. I noticed right away that she seemed completely different. Her bright, bubbly, spirit was gone. She looked sick and very pale. She wasn’t wearing make up and she no longer took the time to do her hair in braids anymore. I asked her where she had been. What had happened to her last year? Why did she dropped out of school? Why didn’t you start this year in September with the rest of us? Are you sick? She didn’t really seem up to talking. She just mumbled an excuse: “ my family was going through some stuff and my mom thought it was best to take me out of school” For the next several weeks, we only ever talked during lunch. And I use the term “talked” loosely. She wouldn’t talk about her absence. If I asked her if she had seen the latest popular movies she would say “I don’t really watch movies anymore“ or “I’m not really that interested.” Candy had become a completely different person. I decided to give her some space. One day, after winter break; I was staying late after school to finish an art project. The art room was used as a kind of after school study hall. I heard the door open. I turned around and there was Candy. She had been crying! Her eyes were red and puffy. She said between sobs “do you mind if I sob hang out in here while I sob wait for my mom to come pick me up?” I immediately abandon my work and went over to console her. She broke down almost immediately. After about 15 minutes of crying and hugs she finally opened up to me. It turns out; the reason she had been gone is because she had gotten pregnant. Even worse… The father of her baby was her own FATHER! Apparently she had been the victim of sexual abuse from her biological father for several years. When she realized he had gotten her pregnant she finally spoke up to her mother. Her mother had immediately taken her out of school, and moved to another state to stay with family. They called the police. Her dad got arrested and pled guilty right away. He knew he had no argument. The DNA of the baby proved her story. Shortly after her dad’s arrest, she had gone to a clinic and had an abortion. This was something that our churches’ religion strictly forbid. But she told me “I couldn’t stand the idea of possibly giving birth to an inbred baby and having him suffer.” She had gone through hell and back. I was beyond shocked! I continued comforting her as best I could. After a long talk; she seemed better. She apologized for giving me the could shoulder when she came back. Apparently one of the conditions of her returning to our school was she couldn’t talk about the abortion. The church who ran the school wouldn’t condone her choice to abort rather than adopt out her baby. She may not have been talking about it. But someone working for the school/church sure had. Apparently someone had told one the mothers of a fellow student; and he had been accusing Candy of “murdering her baby” during class today. They had brought her to tears and she went to the principle’s office to calm down. The guidance counselor had basically told her “you should cry. You murdered an innocent life. God is going to punish you” she had decided to wait for her mother in the study hall to get away from the office staff and their accusations. Her mother picked her up shortly after our talk concluded. She hugged her daughter and tried to reassure her. She put her daughter in the car then walked back toward the office to “give those teachers a price of my mind!” I wish I could have been there to hear her tear them a new one. I must have been an epic yelling match; because, the next day, Candy wasn’t in school. She never came back; and I never heard from her again That Wednesday, during chapel, the principal made an announcement: “some of you may have heard rumors that a fellow student at the school has been engaging in some unchristian behavior and had made some poor life decisions...including the sin of abortion” (everyone knew who he was talking about. Small school and the rumor mill was powerful) He explained the church had agreed to let her return to school to help her regain her life and education. They said God would forgive her sin if she confessed and felt contrition for her decision. But: she had refused to say she had done any wrong. Apparently, several parents of students had been complaining that the girls’ lack of guilt over her abortion was a “bad influence” on the other students. They were worried she would encourage other young lady’s to make “ungodly choices”. As a result: the principal had asked Candy to leave the school. They expelled a teen girl from school: because she had aborted her inbred rape baby.... and they had tried to guilt her by calling her a murderer and saying she’d corrupt the other girls... Several students were in an uproar over the way the school had treated Candy. I spoke to my parents that night, hoping they would back me up. Even THEY said Candy had made the wrong choice and deserved the punishment that came with her “bad choices”. Several friends said their parents had been less than supportive too. I couldn’t fathom the contempt they showed Candy following one of the worst possible things that could happen to a young girl. She was betrayed by her father, her community, and her faith. I never heard from Candy again. Candy, I hope, wherever you are, that you are well and know you know you are loved. TL;DR: school expelled girl for getting an abortion after being raped by her father because she would be a bad influence on other students. Edit: My first ever reddit and it already has 2000+ up votes. Thank you guys so very much! For those asking if I’ve been in contact with Candy: no. I haven’t seen her since she left. I have recently passed this post on to a few former members of our student council. I’m hoping together we can try and track her down. I don’t want to invade her privacy; but I do want to make sure that she’s doing OK. If we find her I will update and let everyone know. submitted by /u/Warrior_White to r/EntitledPeople [link] [comments]
