EDIT - TLDR: If you go through each console feature-by-feature, Xbox wins about ~90% of the time. It's straight-up just a better console in almost every way. I get WHY the PS5 is more popular, but, popularity doesn't necessarily mean better. Original post: Some of you may read the title and immediately disagree. But, if you think about it, in what ways is the PS5 actually better? I can think of three reasons: - It has better exclusives - It's more popular/more synonymous with console gaming - It has a better naming scheme Now, in what ways is the Xbox Series X better? - Infinitely better backwards compatibility, to the point where it's not even comparable - Quick Resume, a highly underrated feature. If you haven't used it, you don't realize how good it is. And no, PS5 doesn't have an equivalence to this. If you think it does, then you don't know what Quick Resume is. - Straight-up better hardware, multi-plat games tend to run better. - More consumer friendly decisions, such as Xbox Play Anywhere (owning both the console and Windows version of a game, as well as flawless save syncing), Smart Delivery (free next-gen upgrades), and controller cross-compatibility are some examples. The Xbox Adaptive Controller also offers much better accessibility. - Better game prices, specifically for first party titles. In a recent PSN sale, Sony's first party titles were on sale for ~50% off but were still over $40. That's just absurd. This was the case for GoW Ragnarök as well as TLOU Part 1 and TLOU Part 2, for example. - Game Pass is better, especially since the recent price reduction of Game Pass Ultimate and the recent price increase of PS Plus. Getting first party titles on day one (except for CoD) is a crazy good deal. - More variation in first party titles. I get how this can seem pointless with Xbox's shift towards (although potential shift back) to being a third party publisher, but, Xbox's first party titles are far more varied than Playstation's, which are mostly just third person story-driven action games with rpg-lite and/or lite-crafting elements. Now, don't get me wrong, I get why PS5 is more popular. If I was a teenager today buying a console, most my friends would likely be on Playstation, and the console is just more synonymous with console gaming, as I said, and it's the console you can play something like Spider-Man on. The natural choice for many is PS5 just for those reasons alone. Most people also just play a handful of games, such as Fortnite, FIFA/FC, NBA, CoD, etc. Edit: Just thought of the controllers. PS5 does have the touchpad and the triggers which are pretty handy, but a MAJOR drawback is the battery life of the Dualsense. My Xbox controller can easily last 40+ hours, meanwhile my Dualsense controller lasts 6 hours at most Edit 2: A way to summarize this could be to go through each console feature-by-feature. Console-wise, how is Xbox Series S/X doing so far? I know that they're still behind PS5 and Switch 2, however, are they doing better than how Xbox One did? I am planning to purchase a new Xbox Series X since I have seen there could be a huge problem getting a used one that has been banned. I noticed there are two distinct retail box designs available.The older packaging features the close-up shot of the top glowing green vents, while the newer packaging shows a picture of the entire console.Aside from the box art, are there any internal component, motherboard, or cooling system differences between these two hardware versions? Just wondering if im making a good decision i only play singleplayer games like red dead redemption , far cry and other story games. I currently own an ps5 and a switch 2. Mainly use them for exclusives not really multiplayer. I used to have an xbox one x that I liked and thinking of getting a series x despite the price increase. Is it worth getting still? I'm going to use it for shooters and cross platform gaming. Gamepass would be a plus. If I wanted to save money I would have to get a used one from gamestop since refurbished ones are sold out on microsoft.
