Influencers calling a recipe "high-protein" and they just add protein powder
"Can you believe these overnight oats have 44g protein and only 300 calories? First add two scoops of protein powder-" please stop with this nonsense 😭. I know adding protein to something adds protein, those macros are only impressive if you used whole foods to get them. There is no difference between your oats you added protein to versus just eating the oats and drinking a protein shake with it. Every "high protein" breakfast/dessert is just an insult to my intelligence. submitted by /u/Cowgomuwu to r/PetPeeves [link] [comments]

Indian women who try to eat high-protein: what’s been the hardest part?
Hi! I’m 25F and I’ve been trying to be more consistent with protein and generally eating better, and I keep realizing how different it can feel as a woman!!! Cravings, PMS, busy workdays, social plans, emotional eating etc ahh. I’m trying to eat higher protein for better energy and satiety, but honestly a lot of the options out there either feel very “gym bro,” are too sweet in a weird way, too expensive, or just not something I can see myself eating every day. I also have a massive sweet tooth, and I haven’t really found a “healthy dessert” option that actually hits the spot and works for my body too. I deal with pretty stubborn acne, and my roommate has PCOD/PCOS, so between the two of us we’re constantly trying to find desserts or snacks that genuinely satisfy cravings without the guilt spiral. I’m just really curious and would love to learn from your experiences. What’s been the hardest part of eating high protein consistently in India and whats your go to for your sweet cravings??? What do your good protein days actually look like compared to the days where you’ve fully given up and ordered something random? I’d love any honest answers even if it’s just “protein food here sucks” 😭 submitted by /u/New_Present_9419 to r/AskIndianWomen [link] [comments]

Easy high-protein foods that help me hit my 370g daily protein goal
1. Seitan Made from vital wheat gluten, this wheat-based “meat” is a protein beast, with about 25g of protein per 100g. I like to bake my own, chop it up and add to bowls with rice and veggies, or enjoy in the form of my famous seitan banana bread. 2. Tofu Tofu’s versatility is unmatched. Marinate, bake, scramble, air fry, the options are endless! One block gets you about 40–50g protein. You can even make protein-packed sweet treats with tofu, like chocolate pudding and my high protein tofu “cheesecake.” 3. Tempeh Fermented soy = better digestion + higher protein content than tofu. Slice it thin, marinate, and pan fry for maximum flavor! 4. Edamame Whole edamame is a great way to get in your greens and protein. Toss it into salads or eat with salt as a snack. 5. Edamame Puffs I highly recommend edamame puffs for a satisfying crunch that makes protein on the go easy. Great on top of cream of rice and yogurt bowls, or my chocolate oat “cake”. 6. TVP Budget friendly and shelf stable, TVP is the MVP! TVP is an awesome ground meat substitute and is quick and easy to prepare. 7. Vedge Protein Powder I trust Vedge for a clean, complete powder that blends well and tastes amazing. I use it daily to help hit my protein goals. 8. Green Bites Go They are high-protein desserts that actually taste good. Cookie bars, brownies, cookie sandwiches, cinnamon rolls, protein nut butters, all vegan, gluten-free, and macro-friendly. These satisfy my cravings without throwing me off my plan. 9. Lentil Pasta Swapping your regular pasta for lentil (or chickpea) pasta = double the protein with the same comfort food vibe! 10. Nutritional Yeast Savory, cheesy, and sneakily high in protein. I throw it on potatoes, pasta, salads, anything that needs a flavor boost. Plus, a serving takes care of your daily vitamin B12 needs! submitted by /u/thebodybuildingvegan to r/workout [link] [comments]

Don’t fall in the “High in Protein” scam
So lately “high in protein” or “protein” food has become very popular… We see protein desserts, protein coffee and even protein sodas! It’s important that you remember that just because something has protein in it doesn't mean it’s healthy… it only means that, well, it has protein. You should still pay attention to the other values, like sugar and fats, and remember that it is all about consuming your daily macros, and that no because you eat more protein you’re going to build more muscle or loose more fat… Some of these food can be nice to have if you struggle to reach your daily protein goal, but I find that many of these foods are actually high in calories and the amount of protein in them is not that high. Personally I like the 1:10 rule, meaning at least 1g of protein per 10 calories. My go to protein bar is the Barebells White Chocolate Almond (or any Barebells flavor but white chocolate is my personal favorite). And please don't falls for “protein” scams such as the Protein poptarts… just because the added a huge Protein banner on the box, it doesn't make them a high protein and much less healthy snack (only 10g protein for 380cal). submitted by /u/AspectNo3215 to r/LowCalorieCooking [link] [comments]

I’m astounded by the amount of high protein products out there
As someone eating pretty high protein since I’m losing weight and have a goal of building muscle, I was starting to get sick of always eating chicken and protein shakes. It’s especially hard when working with limited calories since I’m trying to be in a deficit. I have not tried all of these, but man I’m feeling very optimistic because there’s SO MANY high protein versions of stuff I like. There’s protein pop tarts (off brand are higher protein lower calorie), protein pancake mix, protein cinnamon roll, protein ice cream (my fav), protein cereal, protein chips, etc. just to name a few. So far, I like the chocolate protein ice cream and the cinnamon protein pop tart (brand is Legendary I think). Haven’t tried the others yet. Some of these may not be comparable to the real thing, but are good alternatives. Like the pop tart is ofc not a normal pop tart, but I think it’s leaps and bounds better than a protein bar or drinking protein shakes all the time. And I’ve tried recipes that incorporate protein powder, but a lot of them are either just not good or are pretty high calorie. For people who have tried these, what do you like best? What’s worth it and not worth it?? Edit: a lot of people in here acting like they never eat processed food or junk👀 But yea this isn’t something I’d eat all day everyday, but if I had like one of these a day, or even two while I’m actively losing weight, I don’t think it’s a problem. You do need higher protein to preserve muscle when losing weight, so if I can have protein dessert instead of empty dessert calories, I’d call that a win. And it’ll be much more infrequent once I’m at my maintenance weight. submitted by /u/AwesomeEm77 to r/PetiteFitness [link] [comments]

Aunt has LOTS of dietary wants: What the hell can I cook for her?
Final update since this post is still getting comments: Christmas party is over. She liked the food 👍 everything went well and smooth. UPDATE: Thank you for all your lovely suggestions! I did not expect this post to blow up so much... I have found something to cook for her! A main and a side, thanks to you all! I know a lot of people kept telling me to refuse her, but she's my aunt, and I love her, so we're making it work. Thank you all again! The recipes I picked: https://smittenkitchen.com/2016/02/roasted-yams-and-chickpeas-with-yogurt/ (with dairy-free/plant-based yogurt and less salt added. exchange honey for maple syrup.) https://cookieandkate.com/vegetarian-chili-recipe/ (using low/no-sodium swaps, added brown lentils.) https://joyfuldumplings.com/chocolate-chia-pudding/#recipe (i even found this dessert for her! it takes literally 5 minutes to make—main, side, and dessert. this should be 100% complaint-proof. using soy milk.) - Hi! My husband and I are hosting a Christmas party, so I'm going to do the cooking. I, myself, am already lethally allergic to every single type of nut, so all the food will be nut-free by default since I am cooking it. So, as for my aunt, she sent a text with her dietary restrictions and put in all bold, "i will not eat anything that does not meet these." To be frank, some of these I feel she could do without for one day, but alas, I do not want a scene to break out. She is very dramatic and very entitled, and if she feels left out, she will cause a scene to make sure she's the center of attention. the list? dairy-free gluten-free low sodium vegetarian high in protein high in fiber free of seed oils on TOP of the fact I will not be cooking anything with nuts. is this doable, or should I already start preparing excuse messages for why she can't come? Honestly, I don't even think she herself cooks like this on a daily basis—I'm almost certain she's just doing this to fuck with me. I know she's on her almond mom health kick, but...yeah. I don't know. Any ideas at all? submitted by /u/Radiant-Educator9203 to r/Cooking [link] [comments]

My last post blew up, so here are a few cheap, high-protein meal ideas + a dessert all under $3 each.
My last post got way more attention than I expected, and a bunch of people DM’d me for ideas. So here are a few more combinations I’ve been leaning on lately. They're pretty simple, filling, and about $2.50 or less per serving based on Walmart/Costco pricing. I'm not good with recipes and usually cook by taste/as I go, but I can prob write something down next time. PSA - I also buy ingredients and bulk and just calculate based on serving size. If you buy individual eggs, this is probably not gonna help you lol High-Protein Breakfast Burrito (~35g protein, ~$1.90) Eggs Low-fat Greek yogurt Spinach Salsa Tortilla Chicken Thigh Rice Bowl (~40–45g protein, ~$2.30) Boneless chicken thigh White rice Frozen corn + peas Garlic + soy sauce Optional chili oil For flavori and protein on a budget, thighs are much better than breast imo. I usually go skin-on, then just make sure the skin gets a crispy sear. Cottage Cheese Pasta Bowl (~30–35g protein, ~$1.60) Cottage cheese Pasta Garlic powder Black pepper Optional Parmesan Cottage cheese is super protein-dense for the price and works surprisingly well with pasta. This ends up tasting richer than you’d expect for how cheap it is. Black Bean Wrap (~30–32g protein, ~$1.50) Black beans Tortilla Lettuce Taco seasoning Hot sauce Beans are one of the cheapest protein sources around. This one feels like a budget burrito and is easy to scale up or down depending on calories. If you have any left over breast or thighs, you can shred it up and throw it in here also. High-Protein Dessert (~28–35g protein, ~$1.70) Low-fat Greek yogurt (Costco brand) Frozen berries (Costco brand again) Whey protein (I can cheap out here but end up going for ON) drizzle of honey Hope this helps y'all! submitted by /u/Few_Safety_6122 to r/Frugal [link] [comments]

Do you mostly try to eat low carbs and high protein or do you just eat your normal foods but a decreased amount?
I absolutely know I have to eat a lot of protein and increase fiber. But as far as eating very little carbs, I don’t want this to feel like a “diet”, like the ones I have failed countless times. I’m wondering if anyone eats “normal” (in a lesser amount) instead of really restricting most things. I am not saying eat dessert every day. I’m just saying if I want a turkey sandwich on wheat bread, that’s ok. Or if I want a baked potato, that’s ok. Or a piece of meatloaf. And if I want a cookie once a week, that’s ok too. I’m not going to live on grilled chicken and salad for the rest of my life. My appetite is so much less, I probably am eating half of what I used to eat. So could I eat half of what I always ate for meals, while at the same time definitely decreasing the sweets and snacks. I’m hope I’m explaining myself correctly. submitted by /u/Not_Telling_Nope to r/Zepbound [link] [comments]

Love desserts? I will probably never buy a protein bar again.
First off, disclaimer: I’m not a photographer (or baker). Picture was taken in hand for scale. You have a sweet tooth like me? Love cakey brownies but hate the calories and sugar content? Sick of substitute recipes that almost scratch the itch, but just make you want the real thing more? Strap in, this is for you. This is my symphony. I am never buying a protein bar again as long as I can make this. I’ve never been quite so happy with the outcome of a recipe. I am not a baker, or a chef. I’ve failed at these recipes a ton, but finally mixed and matched designs until I found something I absolutely love. You want a dessert you can feel good about that doesn’t taste like crap? This is it. As I said to another poster, ‘trust me bro’. First order of business, shoutouts to u/venusdemillie for inspiring this. I saw their recipe on another sub for low calorie brownies, and made a few tweaks to it to obtain this high protein beauty. Step by step instructions: Oven to 350. In a large bowl, combine 120g of liquid egg starters and 50g monkfruit. Whisk until combined. Add to this: 30g Fairlife Ultra Filtered Milk, 100g pumpkin puree, 170g Dannon Light and Fit vanilla Greek yogurt, and 5-10g vanilla extract (to taste, I just do 5). Whisk altogether until smooth. In another bowl, combine: 30g oat flour, 2 scoops of your favorite chocolate protein powder (I use Ryse Cosmic Brownie), 20g cacao powder of choice, 5g baking powder, and a pinch of salt. Dump that in the wet ingredient bowl, and whisk it all until well combined. It’ll be a little tough at first but it magically smoothes out. Spray your 8x8 brownie tray or tray of choice (I don’t judge). You can also use parchment paper like I do, and cleanup is much much quicker. Pour in the mix, smooth it out with a spoon, and throw it in. For my oven, it takes exactly 30 minutes. Give it the toothpick test- if it comes out clean, it’s good to go. Let it rest outside the oven in the tray for 15-20 minutes, then transition it to a wire rack so the bottom becomes less soggy. Give it a few hours to cool ideally before cutting. Pictured is 1/4 of the 8x8 tray. This big arse piece of, at least what I think is delicious, brownie, is 162 calories, 20g protein, 5g fiber. 11 net carbs, just under 3g of fat. It’s a bit thicker than a normal brownie, more of a cake like style rather than gooey and crumbly (working on that) but this flavor is table slapping good. It’s rich, it’s moist, it holds its shape, it’s chocolately. Only thing missing would be some chocolate chips added in. After multiple days of nonstop baking, I’ve settled on this recipe. This is my new post lifting snack or just about anytime treat (when I can fit it in). While a lot of people these ‘try this high protein cookie/cake/bread’ recipes exist, many of them suck or just don’t scratch the itch of the original. I tried bean brownies a week ago. Good, but you could tell it wasn’t a normal brownie. This? THIS is a brownie. I will never buy another protein bar again. submitted by /u/TBallAllStar to r/WegovyWeightLoss [link] [comments]

actually good low cal high protein desserts that won't break your deficit
probably just like you, my instagram collection is full of recipes I'll never get back to (though I've been making it a mission to check them out snd actually do them) but it sometimes gets hard when I save a recipe because it looks stunning but one bite would be half my calorie deficit for the day. so I was wondering, do you have any instagram "influencers" (?) or fitness people that actually make really good tasting low calorie high protein desserts and foods? if so which recipes have you made / you recommend from them im very intrigued!! ps not just instagram! I know there are a ton of food blogs nowadays so anything is appreciated! edit: one of my recommendations is something I saw on Instagram (forgot the name of the creator) but I did like 10% of the steps. I just got 0 cal strawbrrry jello, broke it up slightly and added banana and berry protein shake!! it tasted SO good and made me feel like the hwachae trend with the strawberry milk haha. if I had fresh berries or whipping cream I'd definitely add those submitted by /u/Overall-Stand8183 to r/1200isplenty [link] [comments]

Update on “Parents forcing me on high-protein high-calorie diet before I start HRT”
this is an update to a vent post i created a few days ago, unfortunately things have only gotten worse. i was so ready to give this new diet a chance (especially because i have my first gender affirming care assessment this thursday and the calorie intake i used to have was pretty low) but i was genuinely not expecting how painful this change would be. i went from enjoying food to absolutely despising it as a result of eating way too much. whereas before i used to eat a fruit for breakfast and be satisfied until a big dinner, now i’m forced to eat one giant sandwich with a banana for breakfast, then like two hours after a huge meal for dinner (today’s comprised of alphabet soup, one avocado, two steaks, sweet potato fries, and dessert) and afterwards i still have to eat a meal before bed. it’s way too much. i’m not vomiting it or anything because that would do more harm than good, but i genuinely do not enjoy food anymore and i get gastritis like crazy whereas before i would never get it. i was FINALLY at a point where i felt somewhat comfortable with my body, i wasn’t super skinny but i still looked pretty feminine as a result, and my cheek fat was finally going down. now i feel the agonizing pain of having to overeat an excessive amount of food and gain weight. i can’t talk to my parents about this or anything because last time i did, they were like “okay we can reduce breakfast a bit” and once they saw my weight hadn’t changed at all in TWO DAYS, they were like “okay no it’s not working we need to get you on a 2,500> calorie diet stat. my ONLY hope now is starting HRT as soon as i can. if i can at least gain weight while fat is going to feminine areas, maybe i can still feel the same way i did about myself two weeks ago. this genuinely is so frustrating. my mom got furious today because i told her i didn’t want to eat to the point where i started to feel bad. she was like “okay then i’ll just have to mention it to the counselor during the gender assessment appointment, because this isn’t normal.” like what the fuck. you’re sabotaging my chances of even getting on HRT because they’re going to think i have an eating disorder. i don’t know what to do. i’m really scared. submitted by /u/National_Box_3385 to r/MtF [link] [comments]

"FDA Suspends Milk Quality Testing: A Potential Food Safety Crisis
Everyday Milk Alternatives Almond Milk: Light and slightly nutty, great for cereals, smoothies, and coffee. Soy Milk: High in protein and versatile, works well in savory dishes and beverages. Oat Milk: Creamy and naturally sweet, ideal for lattes and baking. Coconut Milk: Rich and tropical, perfect for curries, desserts, and smoothies. Rice Milk: Mild and hypoallergenic, suitable for those with nut or soy allergies. Cashew Milk: Creamy and neutral, good for sauces and soups. Hemp Milk: Earthy and nutritious, great for smoothies and cereals. Pea Milk: High in protein, excellent for coffee and cooking. Milk Alternatives for Baking Soy Milk: Best for baking due to its high protein content, which helps with structure and browning. Oat Milk: Adds moisture and a slight sweetness, great for muffins, cakes, and quick breads. Almond Milk: Works well in recipes where a light texture is desired, like pancakes or cookies. Coconut Milk: Adds richness and a subtle coconut flavor, ideal for pies, puddings, and tropical desserts. Cashew Milk: Creamy and neutral, suitable for custards and creamy baked goods. Rice Milk: Thin and mild, good for light cakes and pastries. Buttermilk Substitute: Mix plant-based milk with a tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice to mimic buttermilk for recipes like biscuits or cornbread. Yogurt or Sour Cream: Use plant-based versions for added moisture and tang in cakes and muffins. Water with Oil: In a pinch, mix water with a tablespoon of oil to replace milk in baking. Tips for Baking with Milk Alternatives Match the Flavor: Choose an alternative that complements the flavor of your recipe. For example, coconut milk pairs well with tropical desserts, while almond milk works in neutral-flavored baked goods. Adjust Sweetness: Some plant-based milks are sweetened, so reduce added sugar in your recipe if needed. Experiment with Ratios: Most milk alternatives can be used in a 1:1 ratio for milk, but some may require slight adjustments for consistency. submitted by /u/CantStopPoppin to r/PrepperIntel [link] [comments]

Protein dessert that actually taste good?
I've been trying to eat more protein lately and I love desserts so I'm looking for recipes or store bought protein desserts that taste good. I don't like YoPro yoghurt, I love storebought protein cookies but they are too expensive. Someone suggested protein pancakes which I'm definitely going to try. Any other suggestions? submitted by /u/skye_yasmin2 to r/nutrition [link] [comments]

What is your go to, low calorie, high protein food combo?
I’m Polish and a very common dessert that’s found in stores next to the yogurts and puddings is a container of cottage cheese with a side of jam. In my local grocery store I buy the 200g light cottage cheese. I add a spoon of jam to it myself which adds only 26kcal . This totals to 166kcal and a whopping 26g of protein! The best part? It’s like a reward rather than a high volume meal that makes me sick to keep eating. What are some more less known combinations you eat to meet your protein intake? submitted by /u/Worryaboutanything to r/loseit [link] [comments]
