Scott, if you are asking about the cost of setting up a vacuum system using your pump, it isn't too high. You will need a vacuum switch to cycle the pump, a small vacuum storage tank made out of some PVC pipe, and a few assorted fittings and wiring. Reusable bags are perfect for wings, at the cost of less than 10 bucks. I would think you could assemble everything for about a hundred bucks. Scott

I like buying veggies and fruits from the farmers market. I tend to think it’s easier to find good quality produce direct from the farm. I could be wrong, but I have made friends with some farmers which I believe ensures I get some clean products. Basically, this means I must be prepared with packaging for the produce and reliable storage. Because I can’t just buy a few items when I head there. I shop for at least one or two weeks. I have been using some produce bags mostly bought locally. I don’t think I need to buy these from Alibaba or online and do they even stock such items. These local ones have somehow been unreliable. There seems to be a new bag every time I go shopping because the older one is weak, torn or smelly. And for produce, you want your bags to be clean every time. I believe there’s a possibility of contamination when you use the wrong bags. My wife and I have started pre chopping and freezing some vegetables (especially onions) in "serving size" portions so that when we're cooking, we can just grab the frozen ones and dump them in. After a lot of trial and error I have found my most preferred way to store all of my reusables! I keep two small crates stacked on each other in my house and then keep a 3D zip pouch in my car for when I need my bags on the go. I also usually will keep a couple of reusables in my purse for just in case purposes. Edit: thanks to everyone for sharing their opinion. Y'all have some really interesting takes, I appreciate the discussion 🫶🏻 ~ Today I organised my puzzle collection. I collected quite a lot over the years but barely touched any of them, so most are still in the original bag. First thing I did, was dumping the pieces into the box to remove as much puzzle dust as possible. Since I now decided to store the boxes on the attic, and only the puzzles themselves in my shelf, I needed something to put them in. Bought some cheap ziplock bags, but it made me wonder: why don't puzzle companies use reusable bags? Surely it's not more expensive for them then providing single use bags. Puzzlers wouldn't need to buy them separately, and it would be better for the environment. Also, I noticed that there's a big difference in box sizes between different brands. Ravensburger and Schmidt boxes are mostly 37x27x6cm dimension for 1000 pieces. The smallest box from Alipson I have is 27x18x6cm and can fit 1000 pieces as well. Might not sound like much, but it's a huge difference if you only have limited space for storage. Plus a smaller box means less used resources, which is also better for the environment. So yeah, I really think puzzle companies (especially those who charge a lot for their products in the first place) should do some changes to their productions. Between me and all of my roommates, we have several dozen unclaimed reusable bags that have piled up over the years. It’s time to deal with them. It’s worth noting that all of us bring bags out with us when we go shopping - but still these extras have made their way back to us over the years. I refuse to throw them away. It feels counterintuitive to the point. Aside from storage, wrapping things up, and transporting items around - have you found a creative way to reuse these and give them a second life? For cloth bags, I have used some as small, 2 gallon growing bags for things like basil and oregano. Depending on the material, this may or may not be safe. At your own risk. I could imagine maybe making a provocative art project out of these too. I tried donating them to 3 different food pantry organizations, and they said that they don’t want them (hygiene, have already, don’t use them etc) maybe somebody else might use them? Piece by piece I’ve been slowly turning my everyday items over to less waste/no waste items. I’ve finally ran out of all of my single use food storage bags and I want to make the switch to reusable. If you have some that you like I’d love to hear about them! I use them a lot to freeze extra veggies, fruits and things like pancakes and snacks for my toddler. I rarely use them for anything besides freezing things before they spoil or have an abundance of. So if they work well in the freezer that’s a huge plus!
