I made a 3d printable steering wheel for the steam deck called GyroDrive.
A few weeks ago I discovered how good gyro steering works on these handhelds and immediately thought i need a wheel with this So I made GyroDrive, a universal steering wheel for handhelds like the Steam Deck. The wheel centers itself, and the resistance paired with the controllers rumble gives a light sense of force feedback. I also designed the mount to keep the airflow open for cooling. In this video I show how well the steer and the self-centering works I am now building onto this project and i'm currently working on pedals, controller support and in the future manual shifter. I also just updated the model with quick release steer for these addons. The files are available through the links in my profile for anyone interested in printing one themselves. submitted by /u/Avaron_3D to r/SteamDeck [link] [comments]

Why does the game look better on other Steam decks than on mine?
SOLUTION: It turns out it was simply the "Decky-Framegen" plugin. This plugin patches and tricks the game into thinking the Steam Deck has an Nvidia graphics card, enabling DLSS but translating it to AMD's FSR. Thank you all for your advice and support! Video de referencia: https://youtu.be/I7cSrQljkzM?si=\_rmgkB2QvxKSgADN Edit: The screenshot was taken at the same time, place, and chapter in the game's story as the video (it's the story's prologue, in Styx's first hideout, at night). The game doesn't track the console's time. Edit 2: My Steam Deck is LCD; the one in the video is OLED. submitted by /u/Gaxadov to r/SteamDeck [link] [comments]

I got mine a few months before the price increase because I needed a new laptop for some programs, and I also wanted a gaming device for a very boring trip I was taking at the time. It felt like a good middle ground. I really loved the Switch, but I hated its limitations. I was already building a PC library, and with Steam Cloud I wouldn’t need to choose between portability on a handheld or performance on PC anymore. Combined with the mods I like to do... it was the best choice I ever made! I follow a lot of gaming news sites and YouTubers, and they always had a lot of respect for the Steam Deck, even the ones who didn’t own one. It’s the father of the PC handhelds after all, and it always had one of the best price-to-value ratios, at least before the price increase. The fact that it’s basically a plug-and-play PC was also amazing. But after the price increase, the respect from the gaming community seems to have vanished. I was watching a video from ElAnalistaDeBits comparing the graphics of 007 on Xbox, PS5, and Steam Deck, and a lot of people in the comments were asking why anyone would bother comparing the Steam Deck since it’s “already dead.” I’ve also seen other content creators saying it’s dead and making fun of Steam Deck owners. That’s very sad because, yes, the new prices make it not worth it for a lot of people anymore, but it still has a huge community. Roughly 8 million devices have been sold, and even though that’s a small number compared to companies that have been selling consoles for 30+ years, it’s still a big enough number to make it relevant. And all the good stuff about it is still there: the easy repairability, Linux and Proton, the modding capabilities, the trackpads, the OLED screen, the huge community, and the ease of use. And a lot of us got it while it was still at a great price! But now people treat us like we have the worst device ever, completely ignoring all the good things about it and the fact that many of us bought it before the price hike. I know that here we all know we have a great device and that it was a great decision. For some people, even at the new price, it’s still worth it. But it feels like we lost a lot of the reputation that the Steam Deck had.... Steam Deck is a mess
So if the price hikes weren't already bad enough, the new stock is already being sold out, which probably means prepare for more price hikes. Not to mention on my ebay, I do not see a Deck for under $560 at the cheapest, with the average price being $700-$1,000. All USD pricing btw, so other regions will obviously vary. I'm just baffled that we waited 5-6+ months for a restock and the current stock is being sold out. Usually the used market is good alternative, but used market is fucked as well. So I guess with that out of the way. What handheld would you recommend for a budget gamer? Not just me, but for people in general? I heard stuff about the Xbox Ally or something I don't remember on top of my head. submitted by /u/InterestingMindset to r/Handhelds [link] [comments]

I dreamt of owning a steam deck for 4 years and now after just 2 days my Deck is ruined.
I Work 12 hours a day so i barely stop at home and have no time to play games, ive been wanting to own a steam deck ever since It was announced but i'm Brazilian and tech is prohibitively expensive here. I finally managed to buy a deck but after only 2 days of owning it for some fucking reason It turned itself on while inside it's case because of my bluetooth headphones, and It overheated badly to the point that the case was burning hot once i got home. The deck still Works but it's VERY slow, even after i let It cool off for an entire night. It can't run any games and takes like 20 seconds to even open a browser. It's so slow that even typing takes like 1-2 full seconds to register each individual letter. I'm completely devastaded, this thing was so expensive and i've wanted It for so long and now it's ruined because apparently this fucking thing Just turns on on it's own randomly. I'm so fucking angry and Sad and desperately need any help in case any of you guys know of any way to fix this. submitted by /u/lvl4_autism to r/SteamDeck [link] [comments]

Valve breaks its silence on Steam Deck OLED scarcity and yes, it's because of the RAM and storage crisis
"Steam Deck OLED may be out-of-stock intermittently in some regions due to memory and storage shortages," Valve now acknowledges on the Steam Deck store page, confirming that the handheld's scarcity can be blamed on the same phenomenon that has delayed the Steam Machine, jacked up RAM and SSD prices, and threatens to shutter "many electronics manufacturers". submitted by /u/lkl34 to r/gaming [link] [comments]

Look what you made me do… a Steam Deck for everyone.
Lots of comments on my mini post yesterday. Some of you wanted even smaller. Some wanted bigger. Some wanted a slider. Some wanted a flipper. Many wanted bigger trackpads. Well… Mini V3: bigger trackpads Flip: 6” clamshell with full size trackpads Slide: 5” Xperia Play style slider - no sticks just trackpads “Maxi” (by request): ARE MY TRACK PADS STILL TOO SMALL? 15ish inch screen, regular size buttons. Yes this is getting silly. What’s your pick? submitted by /u/ligmata1nt to r/SteamDeck [link] [comments]

„Just get a Steam Deck“ is true
I ordered the Legion Go S (Zen 2Go/32gb/1TB) and Steam Deck OLED and tried them over a Weekend. Ended up keeping the Steam Deck. Key reasons: - Display is better - Performance was better (weirdly) - better integration of SteamOS - console-like experience - way quiter - smaller footprint in general submitted by /u/helloMata to r/SteamDeck [link] [comments]
