Are acoustic wood panels an outdated trend?
Hi everyone, We’re thinking of doing a TV wall in our flat living room (which is open plan with a kitchen). The kitchen is all modern, glossy grey, so the vibe of the place is pretty contemporary. I really like the idea of putting wooden acoustic panels behind the TV—it seems stylish and adds some texture—but I’ve been seeing a lot of people online saying it’s a dead trend, looks tacky, or is “everywhere now.” I honestly don’t see it myself, but I might be missing something. I would so much appreciate what other people think about it and why they would or wouldn’t do it. Thank you so much! submitted by /u/Independent_Dig7292 to r/interiordecorating [link] [comments]

IKEA METOD Built-In TV Wall with walnut acoustic panels & floating LED shelves
I wrapped up my custom TV wall using IKEA kitchen cabinets and a mix of other materials, and I’m really happy with how it turned out 🙂 Specs & materials: - IKEA METOD wall cabinets with NICKEBO fronts (4m in total = 13ft) - Walnut acoustic panel backing - 360 cm rubberwood countertop, still to be finished with linseed oil - IKEA LACK shelves (cut down to 180 cm) - Aluminium 45° LED profiles from Amazon, mounted on the front edge of the shelves - IKEA KABBLEKA LED strips Cost: ~€1600 all-in for materials Build time: ~10 hours total (excluding planning & looking for materials) The goal was to get a clean built-in look with warm lighting and natural materials to contrast the dark fronts. What do you think? Any suggestions for improvements or details I could still add? submitted by /u/CreepyBad5980 to r/ikeahacks [link] [comments]

Acoustic Diffusion Panel
Just finished up this acoustic diffusion panel for my entryway / living room. Made with scrap 2x4s ripped down to 1.5 inch blocks of 1, 2, 3, & 4 inches in length. Panel is 45 x 30 and contains 544 blocks total. Took roughly 25 - 30 hours to complete. The room sounds about the same to me lol but hey at least it lools nice. submitted by /u/notakermusic to r/woodworking [link] [comments]

Installed the Artika Sonolok acoustic wall panels, with gaps removed
These oak slat panels were $40/bx at my warehouse, though they've been as low as $35/bx a few months back. I wanted to use full length slats like Artika panolok or similar acoustic panels sold at floor and decor, but it would have been at least $300 more in material cost. To simulate the look, I cut away the extra felt spacer so the panels would meet slat-to-slat. Installation was easy. I used a laser level to line up each panel, then screwed each panel right onto the wall. The included drywall screws hold the panel on quite securely, even without drilling into studs or using anchors and glue. For peace of mind though, I reinforced the panel where the mirror was attached. For about $120 and a day of work, I'm fairly satisfied with how it turned out. I particularly like that it could be mounted with only screws, so it'll be easy to take down if our tastes change later on. submitted by /u/Complex_Difficulty to r/Costco [link] [comments]

Also would acoustic curtains do anything more then what my current thin curtain is doing? I feel like if I get some thicker curtains then I can get thicker absorbsion panels on the left wall so it wont sound unbalanced if that makes sense? seeing as the left speaker reflection and left surround speaker are pointing at the curtain vs the opposite sides bare wall.

Seems like IKEA now sells "acoustic panels?"
What the??? Has home/bedroom studio recording come this far? There's a product line called "MITTZON" at IKEA (US) that features acoustic panels and rolling gobos. I went to IKEA today to check them out, they seem standard, if a bit spendy, but comparable to the pro stuff if you were to really splurge out and too lazy to build your own. One caveat is that they only come in this ugly beige/grey fabric. Have any of you installed or use these? submitted by /u/zerogamewhatsoever to r/audioengineering [link] [comments]

Destroyed My Walls with Acoustic Panels — $800 Repair Bill and I Move Out Tomorrow. What If I Just Leave It?
Put up some acoustic panels in my apartment using adhesive strips (thought I was being smart), but I just took them down and the walls are a mess. There’s sticky residue everywhere and a bunch of spots where the drywall paper ripped off — not minor scuffs, actual damage. Got a handyman quote to fix it all and repaint: $800. He says it’ll look brand new. I’m moving out tomorrow, and now I’m torn. If I pay to get it professionally fixed, is that enough? Or will the landlord/super still make a big deal about workers being in the unit making noise? On the flip side — if I don’t fix it, am I basically guaranteed to lose my security deposit? Anyone dealt with something like this before? Really not sure what the smartest move is here. https://preview.redd.it/flb6z16ok6mf1.png?width=4080&format=png&auto=webp&s=2158ebfe7e1e75d0825c7cc4d6c09b20464b5a76 Edit: I attached an image submitted by /u/Revolutionary_Bad405 to r/Apartmentliving [link] [comments]

More DIY acoustic (absorption ) panels for the ceiling.
All panels are custom made by me. Rear panels; Poplar 5x1 lumber with doubled up 2" mineral wool so total thickness is 4". I added a half inch spacer behind so there is a small gap between the mineral wool and the wall. Wrapped in custom printed stretch graphics. Same for the big panel above the tv. This panel is arounf 1.5ft x 7ft (more or less) and used a single 2" insulation and 3x1 lumber. (It has the half inch spacer also) The ceiling panels have double frames and I used owens corning 403 fiberglass insulation. Fabric wraps around the first frame and the 2nd frame was wrapped in 3M dinoc vinyl to match all the walnut colored stuff in the roo.. Hanging like 2 inches off the ceiling. 3x1 lumber. 2" insulation. I added the spacer to the front so they hold the insulation instead of them resting on the fabric which would have been visible. I also applied some masking tape on the edge of the trimmed fabric. Here is a full video of my system https://youtu.be/5qx7QvIyYH0?si=Caya9Ku-kmYQnnVS Original post of my rear wall panels and also a list what I used: https://www.reddit.com/r/hometheater/comments/1jk3821/finally_tackled_room_acoustics_diy_2_and_4_frames/ submitted by /u/CSOCSO-FL to r/hometheater [link] [comments]
