RE:What do we call this ?
it's not normal? hah. I cry about literally everything and it's been 3 weeks since I had my little man. Today I cried because I couldn't park in the driveway at my parents air bnb (the owners needed the spots) and had to walk down the back ally to get there. Really shouldn't have made me cry, it was maybe a 2min walk and I only had to go halfway down the ally from where I parked, if that.

I (32F) was the only one not invited to stay in an AirBNB with family(5-80 M/F)…and they’re mad at me for that.
There’s more to this than what’s in the title. Every year my very extended family (ages ranging 3-80s M/F) has a get together, and we all used to camp, but as people have gotten older, prices have gone up, while it’s still held at a campground, several of the older people (and people with very young children) opt for hotels overnight, and then the campground during the day. So when I say very extended family I mean everyone from like my grand uncles/aunts all the way down to 2nd cousins (everyone’s children and their children’s children, etc). There’s roughly 40 of us. This story only pertains to my immediate extended family (my grandparents and below). This year they opted to get an AirBNB that could fit their whole side of the family…which I think is like 15 people (including me). That’s because my grandparents are elderly and could use the help at night, and my one cousin has a brand new baby. I was literally the only one not invited to stay at this AirBNB. I am 100% the black sheep of the family but I am not “problematic”, I don’t steal things, do drugs, or be inconsiderate of other people sleeping in the same room as me, which would happen at this place. Like, there was room for me…I just flat out wasn’t invited and was asked by one of them what I planned to do for accommodations, and I said I wasn’t sure yet while they were discussing this with family right in front of me a few months ago. So anyway…I booked myself a hotel room (at an incredibly nice hotel)…and while I enjoy the alone time at night after peopling all day, it sucked to have to do that. My adult siblings got to stay at the AirBNB, but not me. But now to the part that they’re mad at me for. When I got to the get together, I was asked if I was camping, and needed help setting up and I said “oh no I’m staying at (name of hotel) this year, I’m good”. And this family member who is from a different branch (so not part of the AirBNB group) asked why I wasn’t staying in said AirBNB with the rest of my family if I wasn’t camping. I told them the truth: I was never asked/invited. They were shocked. And basically…word got around and it made my immediate family look bad. Which was not my intention but what else do I say? Like oh yeah I opted to spend hundreds my own money for a hotel when I could have split the AirBNB cost for much cheaper just because I wanted to? They know I’m frugal and wouldn’t buy that excuse. Now I’m being accused of starting drama and trying to make my family look bad when all I did was answer a question honestly. I told them that if they were worried about looking bad due to this, they probably should’ve thought of that when they chose to leave only me out of the booking. They have since framed it as I never asked-so therefore it’s my fault I didn’t stay. And they’re right, I didn’t. But neither did any of my siblings…my family told them they would be staying there. I was not told, invited, talked to, etc. It was talked about who would be sleeping where right in front of me…and I was never included in that. Anyway, what can I do to smooth this over? Or even prove my point that I’m treated differently? This is not the first time I’ve been left out of something so deliberately like this, they go to dinners without me all the time, do things that I specifically say I’d like to do, and claim they forgot to invite me. While I am rough around the edges and speak my mind, I don’t think I’m mean to my family or anything that warrants this…I’m just different. I have some mental health problems (mild depression, mild anxiety, ADHD), my interests are a lot different than theirs, I’ve chosen to not have children while everyone else does, etc. And before anyone assumes I wasn’t invited because of the children and me not wanting any…I love kids, I’m great with them. Lots of my friends have children, I babysit, I play, I show up to all their extracurriculars…kids are just something I’d prefer to be able to give back to their parents at some point so I can do what I want to do, rather than have that responsibility 24/7 365, so it’s not that. TLDR: family didn’t invite me to stay at AirBNB with them, only me. Another family member asked why I wasn’t there and I told truth that I wasn’t invited. This stirred up drama. How do I smooth things over or just prove my point that I’m treated differently? submitted by /u/One-Economics4152 to r/relationship_advice [link] [comments]

AITAH for booking our own lodging last minute, instead of staying at an AirBnb with the rest of my extended family?
My family is going to a wedding this weekend in a small beach town. Months ago, we started looking at houses where all of us could stay together. The goal was to be close to the wedding venue and the beach because that’s the whole reason we’re spending the weekend there. It wasn’t easy to find a house for rent in town that could fit everyone. My mom clearly wanted to handle it despite not being able to find much. For context, my husband and I have a one-year-old son, so travel is a lot different for us now. While we’re flexible and easy going, we’re limited by his naps and bedtime. Without really discussing it with any of us, my mom booked a rustic cabin in the woods about 30 minutes from the wedding and the beach. She didn’t send us the listing beforehand or ask what we thought. She just booked it. My mom has a pattern of impulsively booking things without doing her due diligence. Today I looked at the listing more closely, I realized it really doesn’t seem like a good setup for us. There are only three bedrooms, while there are three couples and a baby going. The basement bedroom (the only one that looks like it has room for the pack-and-play) has a walk-out sliding door and appears to have unfinished trim/exposed insulation around the door. The upstairs bedroom doesn’t appear to have a door and is super small. The upstairs “office” that my mom suggested my son could sleep in isn’t actually a room…it’s an open loft at the top of the stairs with a desk. She also told me there was a playroom where my son could sleep, but there isn’t. There are just some board games in one of the bedrooms that she assumed was a play room from the pictures. She clearly didn’t spend enough time reviewing the accommodations before booking. On top of that, being 30 minutes away changes the entire weekend. Every trip to the beach or into town becomes an hour round trip. With a one-year-old who still naps, that means we’re either driving constantly or missing out on the reason we came. We know we’ll probably want to be in town at least once a day. To make matters worse, we literally just got back from another trip with our son, and it was exhausting. I feel completely burned out. Knowing I have to pack everything up again in two days, I really want accommodations that make traveling with a baby easier. The frustrating part is that I had originally suggested staying at a bed and breakfast that’s only 5 minutes from the beach and wedding, but my mom dismissed the idea. I checked today, and they still have a room available. The room also has a sitting room to the side that would be perfect for my son to sleep. I’m thinking about booking that room for just me, my husband, and our son, while my parents, my brother, and his girlfriend stay at the cabin. I feel guilty because I know my mom may have her feelings hurt, but I also wish she had talked to us before booking a place that affects all of us. It feels like she made a decision for everyone, and now we’re trying to make it work after the fact. AITA if we stay at the B&B instead of the cabin? EDIT: To clarify, I offered to pay for our portion of the house and my mom said not to worry about it, so it makes no financial difference. Plus with the 4 of them, the two “adequate” bedrooms will still be occupied and no one will have to sleep in the basement “bedroom”. Also, I booked a room for us to stay so that we can walk to the beach, wedding, and downtown! I feel super relieved. submitted by /u/apennieforurthoughts to r/AITAH [link] [comments]

House Blessing ng AirBNB Rented by Tenant
Is it for content? Clout? Delusion? Kayo, ano sa tingin ninyo ang posibleng thought process niya? submitted by /u/Top_Raccoon2683 to r/Philippines [link] [comments]

AirBnB trying to charge an extra $150 for "severe dirtiness" and being left in an "upsetting state"
The pictures were sent by the cleaners after we requested photos of "the state we left it in" The messages she said: "The trash was not thrown it was full, there was a pan full of used oil. Food stuck all over the table runner and in the kid bedroom upstairs there was foil with a burnt side with substance. My cleaner charged me an extra $150 due to the sever dirtiness. If you took pictures before you left please share because what i walked into was very upsetting and it needs to be cleaned very thoroughly due to the used foil with substance. I have families and children that stay here." "The trash was clearly not disposed. The table runner had food stuck all in it. That was thrown away. The room had that very strange foil. No one has ever left my home in those state and it is not the cleaning service job to dispose of oil. You could have reached out you did not. The living room was disgusting with crumbs all over the floor. I’ve never had my house left in such a terrible condition. This is all she provided but I myself stopped by and visibly saw the mess. If you have proof you didn’t leave it that way then please send pictures." In fairness to her, we did leave a pot of oil. We didnt want to dispose of that on the property or down the drain, but thats on us. We disposed of the other garbage bags and left them outside, we forgot the one final one in the trash. The rest of the dishes were done, the towels left out and piled like requested, we spent plenty of time cleaning. Then the "drug thing". The couple in that room said they never even saw what was left, but the owner is essentially saying theres left over meth, which is insane. I can guarantee our friends didnt casually smoke meth in their room. Are we being absurd not entertaining this? Has anyone else dealt with this after renting a BNB. We were there for two days. Update: after responding with the candy wrapper and AI trashcan, the lady dropped it and said she'll pay the fee, considering the matter done. Will likely report this to AirBnB anyhow. Thank you all for pointing that out because it's definitely something we missed, not looking too closely while we're still on vacation. We were more blown away at the language and accusations made. And for everyone telling us AirBnB sucks, we know. But we have a big group get together every summer and there arent many other options than can host 8-12 people. We'll certainly take significantly more precautions going forward, but to this point we had a pretty good track record with BnBs and our hosts. submitted by /u/MasonL52 to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

The people that complain about AirBNB aren't using them properly
I've found for larger groups like a bachelor party in NH that needs 4 or 5 bedrooms(with respectable people who don't make a mess) or a family of 6 in Nantucket who want to be in a desirable area to attend a wedding per say. It is so much better to have everyone in one house and saves money on ubers and food. You get a back yard, you get more space. You get a full kitchen, can do laundry, maybe even a pool. If you're on your own you get a hotel room. I think those that complain are staying in Shit rentals because they thought they would save money. You get what you deserve for not researching the reviews. Also, any great AIRBnB I've stayed in usually has it's own small website because it's in an amazing area like St. John or in the mountains of vermont and New Hampshire submitted by /u/LopsidedWestern4762 to r/unpopularopinion [link] [comments]

AirBNB is pointless now (rant)
why does AirBNB still exist? i remember when it came out, i was able to spend a week in kamloops for 400 bucks. after paying through the nose for world cup accomodations in vancouver (which im not complaining about, to be clear - i knew that was going to be a splurge) i checked the prices in the interior and it's more than doubled in price. for the cost of an airbnb, i can book a hotel that gets cleaned every day, has free breakfast, and complimentary shuttles to local trails, and all for about 80% of the price. i'm not trying to be facetious, but i am genuinely baffled by what about airbnb outweighs the costs now. submitted by /u/Embarrassed_Boat2933 to r/canadatravel [link] [comments]

Lady thought that she could use my guest room as a free airBNB because she's a single mom.
This happened last week, Thursday to be specific. I called up a friend of mine, Sarah, and asked her if she wanted to come over for dinner, since I was making way too much food, and I like to share. She said that she had a friend visiting from out of town, and asked if her friend could come along. I said that was fine, hey, the more the merrier, right? Fast forward about an hour, and my friend knocks on the door. She's got another woman with her, and two kids I've never seen in my life. The unknown people had bags with them, which made sense to me, since they were visiting, and probably didn't have time to stow their stuff before coming over. The kids were unexpected, and I really would have liked to have a heads up that they were coming. Anyway, the mom "Ashley", asked me if she could stash her bags somewhere that would be out of the way. I took her to one of my guest rooms, and told her she could put them there. Then I went back to the group. The kids asked if I had video games, which I very much do, so I took them to the game room and showed them my consoles/PCs. They seemed quite chuffed. I head back to the kitchen to finish up cooking, while Sarah, Ashley, my wife, and our girlfriend hung out in the living room watching some Reality TV brainrot, everyone was happy. I ring the chow bell (I literally ring a brass bell in my kitchen to alert people when food is being served), and start bringing food into the dining room, the adults come in, my kids come in, my grandkids come in. Ashley's kids were still in the game room. I went to let them know that dinner was being served, and they asked to have plates brought to them in the game room. I explained that we don't do that in my house. Everyone eats at the table, and no food is allowed in the game room. They begrudgingly complied, and followed me to the dining room. Things were going well, everyone enjoyed the food (birria tacos with rice and beans and a side salad), we enjoyed a few drinks (nothing crazy, just 2-3 drinks each), and we had some nice conversation. When I got up to get dessert (homemade flan), Ashley wandered back to the guest room where her stuff was. After we ate dessert, Ashley told her kids it was time to get changed for bed. I found this strange. Who puts their pajamas on in a place where they don't intend to sleep? I asked her "Why not wait until you're at your hotel to get them changed?". At this point, I got a bomb dropped on my head. She didn't have a hotel reservation. Turns out, she had set up sleeping bags for her kids in my guest room, since we have "so much space". Ma'am, I've never met you before tonight. I did not offer you my guest room to sleep in. Turns out, she hadn't booked any accommodations for her family because she knew Sarah had a "rich friend" with a big house. She fully intended to stay at my house, without ever asking either me or Sarah. I got a guilt trip (from Ashley, not Sarah) about "not supporting single mothers". They ended up having to book a room at the local casino hotel, $300/night for 9 nights. Apparently I cost a single mother 2 months worth of rent since I didn't want strangers in my house for 9 fucking days. How entitled do you have to be to just assume a stranger will put you and your 2 kids up? And for over a week? submitted by /u/Poly_Olly_Oxen_Free to r/entitledparents [link] [comments]

HELP! I’m outside of Jalisco under shelter-in-place orders and my AirBnb reservation ends tomorrow. Airbnb refuses to help
***SOLVED! Thank you so much for your help, y’all! Consulate reached out to AirBnB after getting lots of calls and they issued me a coupon for a few days for another spot nearby! 🙏🏻 _______________________________________ location: Jalisco, Mexico. I’m just outside of Jalisco and the whole town is shut down- no restaurants, no stores, no gas, nothing. EVERYONE is under shelter-in-place orders and we were originally set to leave tomorrow morning. So my reservation ends tomorrow, the hosts say there are more guests coming so we cannot extend our stay. The thing is there is NOWHERE open- hotels or anything, and even if there were, there are orders from everywhere to not so much as set foot on the streets, let alone get on any major roads to a new spot. What can Airbnb do? I called them and they have not given me a single straight answer. They say it’s “up to the host” and they cannot do anything until the situation is “officially communicated to Airbnb”. But this shelter in place order is coming DIRECTLY from the US and Mexican governments… what can we do?? submitted by /u/dagoskum121 to r/legaladvice [link] [comments]

99% sure that a past AirBNB host has been impersonating me to get the review I wrote removed
all day today i’ve been getting messages, phone calls, and texts from support saying that a woman has been calling to request that the review i wrote (last slide) be removed the correspondence from support has been to get MY verification that i made these requests, which i obviously haven’t. i told them that someone must be impersonating me to get this review removed. they put a note on my account that i am not the one making these requests and to leave the review up. i also had to change my password and email we’re pretty sure its the host for the place i left the review for. it’s not even a bad review. it was 3 stars and i thought i left constructive criticism for them to improve the space for future guests this has been an unexpected, unpleasant bump in the road today submitted by /u/straightupgong to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

AITA for booking my own Air BnB so I don't have to sleep on a couch for six nights?
My immediate and extended family have booked a vacation for later in the summer. My aunt who found this place knew the owner and they got a great deal. My aunt initially said there are six bedrooms. One room for her and her husband (my uncle) One room for my parents One room for my cousin and her husband One room for my other cousin and his wife and one room for their kids are are both under 10. The last bedroom you may wonder.. is where my aunt made an innocent mistake in miscounting. There are only five bedrooms. They told me that my boyfriend and I will have to sleep on a pullout couch. I told my parents I would rather not sleep sleep on a couch even if it does pull out. I also don't want to make my boyfriend sleep on the couch with me either for his own privacy. It's in the living room which is in the middle of everything. I would rather not be woken to people starting their day and I would rather not have to change in the bathroom each and every time or even leave all my stuff in the living room as well. I don't want to change in my parents room either because I know I would probably rush so that they can have their own privacy. I don't want to put my luggage in anyone else's room and fill their room with my clutter. Same goes for my boyfriend, I don't want to make him do all that either. My family has never had this big of a vacation all together in such a long time. I would love to be involved and what not but I said I would rather not go if I can't have a room to myself OR I'll book my own place nearby and I WILL pay for my part for the main house everyone is in regardless. My mom refused both options as I will "ruin" the trip if I don't stay under the same roof. If I get my own place to stay it would SOLELY be to sleep. I plan to be with my family at all other times and events. I don't care about the price of only getting an Air BnB just to sleep. I want my privacy. Haven't mentioned it to my cousins or anyone else yet that I'm considering getting my own place as close as possible, though. AITA? EDIT: I think I'm adding this edit correctly, I hope this doesn't accidentally delete the whole post. The other day I responded to a bunch of comments the same thing pretty much but to my surprise got so much traction I did not expect so wanted to quickly update. Thank you for all your opinions and input! I had booked the VRBO a bit ago. Have not brought it up yet. I don't know if I'm ready to open that yet or if I should wait till we all get there the first night and mention it when I'm headed two min down the road (got a very close VRBO) when I'm headed to bed Lots of people brought up great points I never thought of so thank you as well SECOND EDIT (if this actually works without having to create a new post): sorry I didn't update. I've gotten a lot of requests for one and appreciate everyone's input and want to make one. Honestly trip wasn't bad, kinda traumatic in one aspect so I'll get to it at some point but overall the trip wasn't bad. Turns out the main VRBO did have a 6th bedroom they "forgot about" like ofc that happened but I stayed in my own still and it was worth it! submitted by /u/TweakinC4t to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

Air bnb check in, no keys in lock box.
Went to check in to a hotel. Followed check instructions as per what was sent. No key was in the lock box. Despite messaging for help/clarity, we did not hear back and now the air bnb host is refusing to give a refund citing that their cleaner told them they definitely did leave the key in the lock box. submitted by /u/ureaphos to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

Finished work and two cars have blocked me in. No other way out and you could've fit 2-3 cars to the left of mine no problem. Knocked on the AirBNB door and no answer. Wtf do I do now?

Drove a rental car for 4.5 hours to get to Fort Worth for a Lauryn Hill concert. Rented an air bnb. Arranged for child care. Took off of work. Get there and the show has been canceled 1.5 hours before doors open. & i was worried she was gonna show up late.
