I got one of these for just shy of 30 last week and it corrupted as I tried to copy my switch’s contents over from the previous sd card. Sent it back no bother but then they’d gone up in price and was looking at the u3/switch 2 compatible cards. Got a 512gb Nintendo animal crossing one from CeX instead.

Looking for animal crossing for switch 1 for my son. £20 ...

As a huge Animal Crossing fan, I wanted to pay tribute by making a large Nintendo Switch but the Animal Crossing New Horizons edition. And I wanted the animal crossing buildings inside of it. It first just started off with Nook's Cranny and moving Minun & Plusle as our Timmy & Tommy. This was the easiest build just building around a stone cottage. Then I wanted to add Resident Services. But who would be greedy enough to be Tom Nook? How about Meowth? The Pokemon obsessed with "Payday"! Then there was Isabelle. Fidough's little strut reminded me of the resident dog. Finally, the most difficult build was the Museum. I had to include Brewster's cafe "The Roost!" So I built the museum beside the cliffside so that I could secretly hide the "Roost" underground. Nintendo is honestly starting to get on my nerves. There’s a free Animal Crossing content update coming on the 15th, alongside a dedicated Switch 2 version. The upgrade free for the Switch 2 version is only 5 USD, which is pocket change, but it’s the principle that’s insulting. They just announced that the base game is getting a patch so it runs at 1080p handheld on the Switch 2 instead of blurry stretched 720p. So, what exactly am I paying the 5 bucks for? Just 4K docked mode and mouse support? It’s ridiculous. You buy a brand-new console, and then they nickel-and-dime you just to unlock the basic hardware features for games you already own. I know AC sold like mad, so even if a small percentage of owners will upgrade, it’s still some hefty cash. But the negativity surrounding it can't be worth the pocket change. So I have a Switch2, and I absolutely love it too bits! My youngest owns a switch1 and he wants Animal Crossing for Christmas. I would like to play with him, so I've looked at buying the game for myself, but the switch2 version comes out in January. If I buy the s1 version and play it on my s2 and buy the upgrade pack am I lossing out on anything but not waiting for the s2 version? Ideally I would like to play with my son over Christmas, but I'm a bit confused as to why the s2 version comes out in January? What are the differences?? I’ve been thinking about the possibility of getting a new Animal Crossing game on the Switch 2, and honestly, Nintendo’s history makes me kinda doubt it. If you look back at Nintendo’s “pattern”, every time they release an upgraded version of their currently main console and not a full next generation, we never get a new Animal Crossing game for it, just updates or spin offs. For example, the Wii got City Folk, while the Wii U only got Amiibo Festival, which was basically only a board game. The 3DS had New Leaf, and the New 3DS received a few hardware upgrades but still no new Animal Crossing game, just the Welcome Amiibo update. Now, the Switch 2 seems to be more of a performance upgrade than a real next “generation”. Following the same “pattern”, they had already announced an enhanced version of New Horizons with higher resolution, faster loading and some new features for the switch 2 (also the 3.0 update), but not a completely new title. Isn’t this similar to what they did with the 3DS and New 3DS? It looks like Nintendo usually saves the next main Animal Crossing game for a new generation of consoles. So if this “trend” continues, the next big Animal Crossing game might not arrive until the console after Switch 2. What do you think, will Nintendo break this “pattern”? This update has really worried me. I'm a life-long animal crossing fan. I've been playing and loving each game in the series since the original released. However, I'm really disappointed that new horizons has essentially just become a decorating game. You decorate things and then decorate more things and then decorate some more and thats all there is to do. You can do the usual bug catching, fishing, and holidays, but they're all in service of just more decorations. The biggest flaw in this game is that once you're done decorating things how you like, there's absolute zero substance or gameplay within the decorated spaces. Absolutely zero things to do with your friends, no minigames, none of the decorations do anything besides make a noise or do a little animation. Thats understandable in maybe the wild world era, but this is the switch. You should be able to do things in the spaces you create. When I saw the hotel and kapp'n's family, I was so ecstatic because I thought they were going to finally fix that aspect. But no, its just more decorating. They saw us getting bored after decorating and said "here, have more things to decorate" and thats the entire gameplay loop of this game now. I know the NES games are back (in a really sad, underutilized form) but even then thats not really cool or unique anymore because i can just play them on my switch whenever i want. What happened to desert island escape or puzzle league? Why does my arcade room serve absolutely zero function with all those cool looking games? Im afraid nintendo has lost half of what makes animal crossing fun; the minigames, the villager friendships, the unique small events, and just turned this into decorating sim the franchise. At a family event, my 7-year old niece asked to play Animal Crossing on my Switch. I let her play it and after short tutorial, she pretty much got everything in like 15 minutes. Kids can be pretty destructive so I was worried. Eventually, I thought to myself 'So what? I can get everything back. I'll let her have fun' That thought made me appreciate the game a bit more. It was so fun watching her play. She would just run around the island and pointing things out like the flowers, bugs, and how pretty the butterflies were. She would scream-laugh when wasps were chasing her. A good portion of her time playing was spent in the wardrobe changing clothes. Her favorite top was 'Mom's handmade apron' because "her mom made it for her". All my villagers were perfect and nice, all of them were her 'bestfriends'. Diving was another story. She was incredibly excited about finding seaweed, starfish, like she was actually swimming. And swimming. This surprised me. As an adult, I was always annoyed with how we had to change out of wetsuits to do basically anything. I thought to myself 'Why did they even put this stupid rule on?' But my niece (who was taking swimming classes for the summer), kept taking off and putting the wet suit on everytime she would do anything like entering the house or sitting on my outdoor decorations. I told her 'You can just go inside wearing your swimsuit, it's fine' Without even thinking, she said 'No, you should change out of wet clothes when you go inside the house' I was shocked. I never thought about that. To me, it was just another set of programmed NPC lines. It finally made sense. The stupid slow annoying rules and random text weren't made for us adults. We can blast through that text and forget about it. We can be patient. Kids will play this game and imagine it is them. They are who we were when we started playing Wild World or New Leaf or wherever you started playing Animal Crossing. I played again after she went home and started appreciating things a bit more. It was probably the longest and slowest pace I ever played this game. Don't get me wrong: I absolutely in love with AC:NH. This is the first game in the series that I tried and it is already the most played game on the Switch with about 400 hours. I play it daily starting from the day of release and it granted me a wonderful escapism session that let me survive the last three months. Since my work started three weeks ago, I spend much less time in the game than I used to. But lack of free time is not the only reason. I started to get tired and bored of NH. You can say: "there's no wonder, you've already spent so many hours in it". It's obvious enough, but... Gameplay becomes repetitive. Wake up in the morning, listen to Isabelle who talks again about her passion for TV-shows since there is no news, check the area for shells, trees for furniture, plaza for NPC's, villager houses for DIY-recipe that you already know, Nooks Cranny for new old items cause you don't need to sell more turnip since there're several million bells in your bank account and that's it. Several times I was engaged in a complete redevelopment of the island with terraforming and house relocation but each time it made me feel tired. I started to read about past AC games and realized that although the developers have added a lot of new features, they removed even more. I know it was done in order to avoid time travel, but it mostly relates to seasonal events. I apologize for this cry of the soul, but I really want to enjoy this game like in the months when every day became special. I know Nintendo is planning to support ACNH several years, also heard about the findings of dataminers and really hope to see more and bigger updates in the future. Please, give us: More unique events with shorter duration;More dialogue options;More special NPC's;More stores and special buildings;More villager types and species;Make objects and furniture not only scenery (let us play with the ball, ride bikes, etc);More interaction between villagers;More ways to use the museum (after collecting all the fossils and catching all the seasonal bugs and fishes you may only wait for the next time your cousin come to your island and that's it. Let us make museum more 'alive': add some exhibitions, excursions for villagers..)QoL improvements;Way more DIY's and ways to spend bellsTerraforming improvements (let us choose patterns for the cliff walls); Thanks for your attention! UPD: You guys are crazy. I didn't expect this post to receive such attention, I even had to turn notifications off. I never evaluate games by the ratio of the amount of money and the number of hours spent with it. Animal Crossing is a great game that can get even better.
