See our Facebook event here! When: Thursday, May 7, 2026 at 7:00 PM Where: Green Jeans Food Hall Talk 1 — Pooja Sheevam Vaccines and Polio Vaccines have saved millions of lives—but skepticism about them isn’t new. We’ll trace back the history of vaccine resistance to as early as 1950. But it’s not all doom and gloom: we’ll also spotlight an unlikely hero in the fight for global health—your grandparent's local Rotary Club. Learn how a group better known for lunch meetings for retired folks helped lead one of the most ambitious public health campaigns in history. Talk 2 — Charles Cantu The 12 Principles of Animation The Twelve Principles of Animation are a guide to creating believeable animation that delivers the illusion of life. They are based on the work of traditional Disney animators, who pioneered their use in the 1930s. Every animator must understand each of these principles, consider how they should be used in their own work. When followed, they help create believable movement and action, inform us of the character and story, and help make a piece of animated art memorable. My niece died and people told me to forgive.
I won't. my sister supplied my 16 year old niece with drugs. Not weed. DRUGS. Fenty and meth. She's been giving my niece drugs since my niece was, like, 11. over and over my niece was in and out of rehab, running away from home, skipping school. she died. last week my niece overdosed. found on the side of the road dead. like an abused dog. People keep telling me to forgive my sister, that she must feel guilt and shame. I won't. how can I? she inadvertently killed my niece and didn't help once. my dad and i had to pay for everything, take my niece to all her rehab and doctor appointments, called 911 when my niece was having seizures. you know what my sister did? nothing. She just watched my niece crumble and when she died my sister went to the mall. I don't have forgive jack shit. I'm so fucking angry and hurt. I loved my niece and watching her break apart and not being able to do a damn thing destroyed me. Fuck man. Stop telling me to forgive. I'll carry this hate to the bitter end. Edit: I don't know who gave my niece the drugs. I only know my sister was the first. Edit 2: For all the people telling me not to carry anger just know that anger is going into creativity. I'm going to carry this anger through my writing and art. Ive started and webtoon that will slowly be worked towards an indie animation. So don't worry, I'm angry, but I will release it through ambitious passion. submitted by /u/Sundevotee to r/Vent [link] [comments]

Advice on kid’s art supplies and coloring books
I do a lot of childcare for my church’s Bible studies, midweek programs, holiday services, etc., and one thing I like to do is provide art supplies for the kids to use. They love having it, and it’s a good way to make them want to do a calmer sit down activity and pass the time(and save my sanity). For reference, depending on the event there are somewhere between 10-20 kids, ranging in ages from toddlers to middle schoolers. I’m specifically looking for advice regarding older kids- elementary and middle school age children who can (generally) be trusted with art supplies. For markers, thinner tipped markers would be ideal, water based and/or ones that will easily wash out of clothes. I’d also prefer a large enough set that if, for example, four or five kids all want red at the same time, they can find a shade of red. Having a travel case would also be very helpful, since while I have a backpack I bring with me, it’s usually full of printer paper/coloring books/etc. to easily fit a lot of markers. Recommendations on other mediums like colored pencils, or something else I haven’t thought of, would also be wonderful! I’d also love recommendations for good coloring books, which I usually refresh every few months/ as needed. For reference, I’ve been buying a fair number of coco wyo and hikaru kotz coloring books, as well as more realistic animal themed coloring books, both of which the kids seem to enjoy. Any good dinosaur or horse coloring books would be especially appreciated, because some of the kids I see regularly would LOVE them. One-sided pages, and pages that tear out easily, would be ideal, but I’m happy for any recommendations! I also make sure the kiddos have as much blank paper as they want, as well as bringing dot markers and occasionally window markers (these are a rare treat, because frankly, wiping the windows after can be a bit of a pain). Thank you in advance for any help! submitted by /u/TableDifferent4395 to r/Coloring [link] [comments]

AIO for tearing up over the gifts I received? (I didn't like them)
I never want to be the ungrateful person who wants to act spoiled and demand a specific gift. However, nobody in my life seems to understand what I like. For every single birthday gift and Christmas gift since I was around 13 (I'm 18 now), I have received feminine products, handbags, and feminine clothing as gifts. The unfortunate thing? I have never used purses or handbags before (I use a wallet), the only feminine products I use are lotion and chap stick, and my overall clothing aesthetic is street wear and baggier stuff. I also love anime and art. And for more context, I am assigned female at birth but am very much a closeted trans guy. I suck it up everytime because this is my family wasting their money on me and again, I don't wanna be ungrateful. I also havent come out either or made the effort to verbally tell them my interests, but shouldn't taking one look at me be enough? "I don't know what to get you" is what they usually say. Yet, I'm wearing an anime shirt and sketching all the time, is everyone just choosing to ignore the obvious or what? This Christmas I received another purse, pink sweat shirt with those corny inspirational quotes in front, and a pajama set that's a bit skin tight. I started tearing up in the bathroom and shoved everything under my bed so I won't have to see it. My parents seem to enjoy mocking me, though. I overheard them calling me stuck up for not reacting much when opening gifts and leaving the room, then doating me later and asking me if I liked my gifts. I genuinely hate Christmas and my birthday over this and I do no look forward to any of it every year. AIO? Small edit: And I do tell my parents what I like. Show them all my anime stuff, tell them the clothes I do or do not like. My mother is usually the one who judges my clothing choices and insists I wear stuff she likes. Edit2: I just want to say thank you to everyone defending me or supporting me in the replies. This was a "heat in the moment" kind of post, but I genuinely appreciate those bothering to understand me. Everything has been stressful and slowly eating me alive, and this year's gifts were my last straw lol. I could usually hold up and show my appreciation during gift exchanges because I'm aware of my lack of communication, but I kind of broke this time from how mentally weak I've been. I really wish I can properly appreciate everything I've been given, but it's hard when I've repeated myself multiple times and made things obvious (imo) only to be blatanly ignored. (Or completely stop receving things I liked. I used to receive art supplies and such but it all stopped?) But thank you again for the advice and kind words. Whenever I move out, I will most likely donate everything or regift to friends. submitted by /u/Ornery_Art7418 to r/AmIOverreacting [link] [comments]

Christmas Requests - Quest 2, 3S or Quest 3 for family. Arts / Crafts Supplies for 12 year old. Ceiling Repairs for home.
Hello, and happy holidays! I've been out of work 9 months. Picked up a contract finally, but I won't get paid in time for Christmas (I invoice monthly and pay is 30 days out). I've already been putting everything on credit cards out of necessity. Unemployment ran out 3 months ago. Regarding my biggest expense... My family lives in a property I saved and bought for them long ago, but they're starting to fall behind on maintenance I can't afford right now. Most of them are just 18 - 20 (I've been supporting them since they were high schoolers), so they are still getting on their feet. There's a leak in the ceiling from the pipes upstairs. I'll likely have to handle this one as it's expensive ($1,000+ based on prior repairs - drywall, plumbing, possibly electric, and repainting), but putting it out there in case someone feels unnecessarily charitable. Now, onto the more reasonable stuff... For gifts this year... I wanted to get my loved ones something nice. They've been asking for VR headsets. I was hoping someone out there didn't need their Quest 2 anymore. A newer headset, if not needed, would of course be great in order to ensure compatibility with the latest Meta games and experiences, but one or more used Quest 2's would do just fine. (Did I mention there's 6 kids?) The youngest one (12) is absolutely obsessed with arts, crafts, and musicals. We're talking Hamilton posters. Singing and recording themselves singing until they get every line just perfect. Hand-crafted Halloween costumes. Animations. Canvas paintings. You name it. Art supplies of any kind would be immensely appreciated. ... And that's all, folks. Any of this would help me and my family tremendously. All I want for the holidays is to eventually get paid and hope I have enough to pay off my credit cards and fix the house, haha! submitted by /u/AP_in_Indy to r/donate [link] [comments]

[TOMT][SERIES][LATE 2000s-EARLY 2010s] Sunday School Series Where The Main Characters Are Art Supplies.
Ok so familiar story: I remembered a series they used to play at a Sunday School I used to go to, I decide to look it up and nothing. No combination of keywords brought anything up. I remember a ton of detail about the series, though. It was 3d animated, and the style was very similar to VeggieTales. The 2 main characters resembled Bob and Larry, only they were art supplies. The one resembling Bob was a paint palette and the one resembling Larry was a paintbrush. The title card had a blue backdrop with the logo, which was also a paint palette with the title inside of it (I can't remember it for the life of me) and the palette and the paintbrush were peeking out of the top left corner I believe. One of the characters, the paint palette I think, was named "Art" or "Artie" or something. I think the palette also may have worn a beret. The show played out a lot like VeggieTales too, usually taking place on some sort of counter(?) I remember the floor was always wood and the wall was always blue. If it helps, I also have a vague memory of the Sunday School teachers setting it up and seeing some sort of DVD menu... so maybe it's on a DVD? Does anyone else remember this? submitted by /u/Plunk09 to r/tipofmytongue [link] [comments]

[TOMT] [MOVIE/SHOW] [90s/00s] Animated art supplies dancing and singing "You/We can do anything"
My 4th grade art teacher used to put this on the roll-in TV while we were working. This honestly could have been on a DVD or a tape. Bunch of art supplies/stationary/objects dancing and singing but the only part I remember is them singings "you/we can do anything, you can do anything" on repeat. This could have been a fever dream honestly but it's stuck in my head! submitted by /u/Any-Echo-7451 to r/tipofmytongue [link] [comments]

New SAE animation student, broke and new in Brisbane – looking for donated art supplies or tips
Hey legends, I just landed in Brisbane with my family under a permanent humanitarian visa. I’m starting a Bachelor of Animation at SAE but I’ve got zero art supplies—no pencils, no sketchbook, nothing. If anyone’s got old or unwanted art gear they’re willing to part with, or knows where I can score cheap or donated supplies around Spring Hill or Redbank Plains, I’d be forever grateful. Also, if you know any local artist communities or donation programs, drop those tips too. Thanks heaps! — A broke-ass aspiring animator trying to survive the creative wasteland. submitted by /u/uranusadvena to r/brisbane [link] [comments]

AITA for laughing at my niece's gift?
My 12-year old niece is really into arts and crafts, and recently got into crocheting. Before Christmas, she told me that she had a surprise gift for me, and seemed really excited about it. I told her I was really looking forward to it as well, and prepared her gift myself (which was actually art supplies). On Christmas when we had our family gathering, she brought me her gift, and was super excited for me to open it. When I opened it, I saw a crocheted animal, but if I'm being honest, it looked REALLY REALLY bad. To give you an idea of what it looked like, imagine something from r/badtaxidermy but in crochet form. I couldn't help but burst out laughing, and I couldn't stop laughing no matter how hard I tried to suppress it, so I had to excuse myself to go to the washroom, where I locked myself for nearly 10 minutes. When I came out, my niece was in tears with her parents trying to console her, and I apologized profusely and told her that I really liked her gift, but she kept crying and shouted at me, calling me a liar and that she sucked at art. My niece avoided me for the vast majority of the party after that. I tried to make her feel better by displaying her gift on my living room cabinet, but my wife pulled me aside later in the day and told me to take it down after the party because it was in her words, "really ugly" and made her uncomfortable. Surprisingly, all the adults was very understanding of my situation, but I feel really bad because I feel like I destroyed my niece's confidence, and I'm not sure how I can make it up to her. submitted by /u/SupportiveHusbandnot to r/AmItheAsshole [link] [comments]

AITA for refusing to give my former BILs stepchildren access to my late sister's possessions?
My sister Anna died 8 years ago. She had two boys, Luca and Milo, with her husband. The boys were her whole world and when she realized she wasn't going to make it she took me aside and told me she wanted me to look after her possessions, which included her small jewelry collection, a couple of very fancy art supplies (think custom paint brushes kinda thing), some stuffed animals she'd had since childhood and some family photos/baby books and blankets saved that belonged to our family. She told me she knew her husband would move on and she worried he would allow any future children of his to have her stuff, instead of her boys once they became of age. She made me promise I would keep them for the boys once they moved out. I made her the promise and I kept it. He knew about it and was extremely unhappy with Anna's decision. He felt betrayed and like they should be just as much his as hers. But legally, he couldn't do anything. My former BIL remarried 6 years ago and has two stepdaughters as well as a bio daughter. Luca and Milo come to my house one weekend a month (which was ordered by the courts) and while they are with me they have admitted to feeling like their dad wants them to treat the three girls like their mom's kids. He had asked them to ask me to give the girls the jewelry and stuffed animals. The boys also told me he had shown the girls the photos of the two of them with the stuffed animals and the girls got really jealous. They said they don't want their mom's stuff to go to them. I promised them it would not and I would give it to them one day. Former BILs oldest stepdaughter is turning 13 soon and apparently she wanted my sisters locket or a lookalike. He approached me about it and I told him no way, He told me I was being selfish and they are Milo and Luca's sisters and Anna's memory should be shared with them and they should feel like they have a guardian angel looking out for them. I told him Anna had not wanted that and her priority would always have been her children over children he had or took on with someone else. I told him those three girls were nothing to do with Anna and were not entitled to any of her possessions. He called me an asshole and told me I was making the girls feel bad and that even if Anna never met them, I should have accepted them as family and done my best to treat them. He also brought up my not even letting them see the things in person, the stuffed animals especially, and I do remember his younger stepdaughter who is 10, was upset to not get to see them. It makes me wonder if I'm being too harsh with the kids. But I also don't want them to get attached either because they will never actually get anything from me (and the boys don't consider them sisters so it's unlikely they will ever give them anything either). So the characters will be as follows: CA(Crazy Aunt) op(Me) EC(entitled cousin) CG (Cool Grandpa) This happened a on my 13 birthday so the details might be a little fuzzy. We had just finished cutting the cake so it was time to open the gifts.I first opened the one from CG and i knew it was some art supplies and lo and behold it was a pack of alcohol markere.Ok so some detail i love to draw and I'm really passionate about it but i didn't really have the best supplies so i was really happy. So.. can I pleaaaase have your art supplies??
Y’all seemed to like my last one. Unfortunately this does not end. I was at school at a conference, out on the bench with my sister, drawing. I was using alcohol markers and ink brush pens. (BAD IDEA NOW THAT I THINK ABOUT IT) anyways, doing my thing, drawing some character’s, when this about 2nd to 3rd grader comes up to me, asking the usual stuff. “Is that anime?? Can I see?? Who is that??” Then, they ask “Can I borrow your markers??” (For anyone who isn’t an artist, alchol markers are very expensive. Copics going for 5 bucks a marker.) “Sorry, These are mine little guy.” My sister keeps an eye on this kid. EK: “Its just a marker!! Give it to me!!” He says, pulling one of the caps off. I snatch it from him and he pretends to ffall over, and of course, he wails like a bitch. “Im telling my mom!” He says, whining to what looks like a 300 pound human sized gorilla. (Sorry, its just she looked like your typical “lET me TalK TO YoUr MAnGER” woman.) She comes over. EM: “What happened here?” I didn’t even open my mouth as he wailed louder than ever; “She won’t let me have the markers!!” EM: “Just let him have the mar-“ Fortunately, my sister cut her off. Unfortunately, she’s very rude in these situations, but I don’t mind tbh. “Shut up, thse were very expensive. 5 bucks a marker.” EM, like usual, fumes. “WHAT DO YOU MEAN!? THESE ARE CRAYOLA (not, you blind?) MARKERS! MY SON IS IN THE TOP OF HIS CLASSES AND YOU ARE DISRESPECTING HIM!” I speak up. “Lady, chill. These still have the price tag on it,” I showed them one of the markers, tje child attempts to snatch it but I VERY GENTLY shoved him away, him pretending to fall again and screaming like he broke a bone. “WHAT DID YOU DO TO TIMMY!?” “Push him, Gently.” EM: “NO! THAT WAS OBVIOUSLY A HARD PUSH!” Eventually, one of the cops patrolling the area noticed. “Whats the problem?” “They are attempting theft of MY markers.” I say, pissed, as the cop escorts the child and bitch to the exit. TL;DR: Attempted theft. submitted by /u/CinnamaRollLuna to r/entitledparents [link] [comments]
