I would like to run some of my electronics via batteries. One such battery is an Anker Prime 27,650mAh Power Bank (250W) and the other is Anker SOLIX 535 Portable Power Station. I’m also hoping to charge various electronics as well. The problem is that I don’t know where to start. Solar panels: there are some being sold on Facebook marketplace but I don’t know how to evaluate them. I’m guessing I should buy new until I get a clue. Housing: The solar panels will need to be at least 50’ from the house to get sunlight so keeping items in the house probably won’t work. Also that could be construed as a permanent installation which will involve electrician, code enforcement and DEC at a minimum. I’m hoping for something I can build on a garden cart and move around as necessary. Climate: It is currently a high of 20° f today with a low of -2° f tonight. I've been blocked on installing a 2KW diesel heater in my Tacoma / Go Fast Camper setup because I haven't found the time or money to build out a full dual battery/solar/ACDC charger system. With the winter here I've been looking into other options to get the diesel heater working without needing to invest in the whole battery build out. Edit 12.9.2025: I'm having the toughest time with this battery thing. It's like I go down a rabbit hole and get lost in the abyss. 😁 All I really want to accomplish is to find a decent "All in One" power station solution with a NEMA TT-30R plug on it where I can feed it to a 10 or 12 circuit transfer switch that I will install next to the main breaker panel in our closet. Its ONLY job will be to power various rooms for lights, ceiling fans, a few receptacles, and run the two fridges for the short term and will NOT be a long term outage thing. Are any of these companies any better or worse than the other? Like chinese generators, they are tons of brands, weird names, similar looks and power, expandability, and just how well their customer service is as it appears, like the generators, that it's mostly overseas and occasionally in the states. If these batteries fail, what normally happens? Does the end user have to box up a 60 to 120lb battery and ship it off for repair/replacement? How is that handled? This makes me want to get something from Sam's Club (like my Genmax generators) or Costco where there is a damn good return policy. Any additional thoughts and input?
