@brawndo, Definitely seconding the bottle washer. We have the baby brezza and it’s been such a help. When you’re dealing with double feeds, the last thing you want is to stand at the sink constantly. I like that it’s compact but still fits a good amount, and the jets are strong enough to clean small parts well. It’s one of those things that feels extra until you’re using it every day.

Almost every person I know with a baby washes bottles by hand so I have always assumed washing bottles in the dish washer isn’t recommended. I am starting to get sick of the repetitive routine of washing so many bottles through the day and so tempted to just throw it in the dish washer & then sterilizing them. Is it safe?? We are expecting our first and planning on breastfeeding exclusively, unless we have a medical reason (low milk supply, baby won’t latch, not enough weight gain, etc). I’m planning on pumping and storing milk so husband can help feed the baby too after a few weeks. I’ll be a SAHM besides about 1.5 days a week, so I will be feeding most of the time. We have the doctor browns anti colic glass bottles (want to avoid as much plastic as we can). I recently had a friend say that a bottle washer/sanitizer was absolutely necessary because with their first baby, they ended up spending about an hour or two washing and sanitizing the bottles everyday by hand. She said even with a dishwasher you need to wash by hand after because dishwasher can leave behind a film/residue. Also said there are so many little parts to wash by hand. Is this true? Is it really that tedious and will I have a lot of bottles to clean if mostly breast feeding?Should we put the bottle washer on our registry? ETA: Wow! I am posting this here as I saw a post somewhere here that was blowing up regarding someone being glad they got a bottlewasher (which is great) but I also wanted to share my experience as someone who was influenced into buying one and regrets it *big* time and am shocked by the positive experiences. For context, we went with the Grownsy bottle washer that has a pipe to drain into our sink. This post is really for those of you who might be tight on your budget or simply wondering "Do I really need one?" as these were things I wish I'd known (and am now currently trying to sell mine as someone who regrets deeply buying one). 1) If you're not sure on whether you'll be bottlefeeding or pumping/breastfeeding - you can always wait until after baby is born! 😊 We got our bottlewasher early and rarely used it early on because I was exclusively breastfeeding, until baby was diagnosed with reflux. I wish we'd waited. 2) They are clunky!!! I can fit about four bottles as anything more simply means things do not wash properly and then it's just double work. Trying to fit breastpump parts plus bottles? yes no chance. Also filling the back container- it gets heavy and needs to be filled every time so having it close to the sink is pretty much a must 😅 3) The main problem - simply does NOT wash the bottles properly?!??!!! I am so so shocked because maybe it's the thicker anti reflux formula we use but the bottles always come out still *so* greasy inside. the tablets struggle to break down fat. As a test, I put a whole tablet in a bottle submerged in water and had one bottle with some ferry (dawn) dishwashing liquid and.. bottle with ferry liquid came out SO much cleaner!!! if you search online- there are actually many others who've have the same experience and now it appears you need different tablets to descale the machine (which I did) supposedly every 20 washes but it wasn't even 5 washes in before I noticed the build up again! 4) Does *not* dry properly - basically exactly as stated. the bottles come out wet still. No we don't have a defective one because my sister has one and had the same experience. 5) Condensation - when drying, be aware of the condensation the machine produces!! I was shocked to walk into my kitchen and see condensation and water drops alll ontop of my draws. It was dripping! As we have painted cabinets, this was really not good for our kitchen draws, however we don't really have anywhere else to place the freggin' thing.. 6) Dishwasher on quick rinse does the same if not better job. 7) It's a huge eyesore- especially with the pipe into the sink 😭😭 8) Where I am located, getting the tablets is not easy and means ordering them online so this is also just inconvenient. What I've found best that works for me and my husband is simply rinsing the bottles directly and buying special bottle detergent that we let the bottles soak in along with the nipples. Then we collect then through the day and rinse them out and let air dry over night. It's sooooo much quicker than loading, unloading & running the bottle washer everytime. My mum had 8 kids and used this container she'd fill after she'd rinse and let the bottles sit in with a tablet for up to 48 hrs. I think is also a great approach as you can fill it with toys and without having to assemble like Jenga. If you even THINK you’ll be using bottles/pumping - get it. Babies are little chore factories (said with love), don’t add more chores if you can help it. I don’t care if you have to sell hairy toe pics on the internet to afford one. It’s worth it. Hey everyone, I have been on the fence about whether to buy a bottle washer lately. We have so many bottles and tiny parts at home, bottles, nipples, and valves. I am due with #2 any day now. Knowing how my experience was the first time around, I am already prepared to be an exclusive pumper (I did it for 10m with my first). We got the MomCozy bottle washer around Black Friday. Just started putting it together, and now my husband strongly disagrees that we need it because of how much distilled water we will have to use each time. Before I became a mom, I honestly thought a dedicated bottle washer was kind of unnecessary. They’re not cheap, and hand-washing seemed totally manageable. Then the baby arrived… and yeah, I realized I was being way too optimistic. There’s just so much to wash every day , bottles, nipples, caps, all the tiny pieces. Definitely more than one set. Hand-washing gets old really fast, and in winter I absolutely hate sticking my hands in cold water. On top of that, I’m never 100% sure everything is actually clean. We’re 12 weeks (give or take) from welcoming baby #3 and trying to decide if it’s worth investing in a bottle washer this time around. We made do without one for the first two kiddos, but time (and dishwasher space) are at such a premium these days that it feels like a necessary investment this time? We’re a daycare family so nightly washing is a must in order to have clean ones to send with the baby everyday. For four months, I thought I had found a game changer, especially with the Dr. Brown bottles. Then it completely stopped draining. I’ve spent days going back and forth with customer service and provided receipt of purchase, and instead of helping quickly, they asked for me to find the lot number. Now they’re sending a new machine but asking me to literally cut the cord off the machine, measure exactly 2 inches from the base, and send them a photo. As a working parent with an infant, I don’t have time for ridiculous hoops like this after dropping so much money on a product that broke in less than half a year. Right now we’re using the Baby Brezza dryer/sterilizer. LO is 1 month old, and I’m finding it a bit of a pain to hand wash bottles so frequently, especially on nights when she’s cluster feeding. I’m debating a few options: • Getting a bottle washer (Brezza or Momcozy) • Buying more bottles (we currently have 5 four-oz bottles) • Or just waiting it out until her feeds are more consistent and then washing everything once a day in a basin and/or throwing them in the dishwasher Curious what’s worked best for others in this stage! I know I don't need to sanitize every time, now that baby is about 6 months old and has more well-developed immune system, but I still sanitize every time because why not, it's just a setting on the bottle washer.
