First off, I realize that there is a difference in posture between a day of typing and a day of driving. But when I think of a nice driver's seat in a car, I imagine something that hugs that body. It's soft but supportive and wraps around you. If you've ever driven a Volvo, you know what I'm talking about. But with high end office chairs, we're stuck with hard foams and thin cushions. Supposedly this supports good posture. I just don't understand why we can get comfy seats for driving, but for working at a desk it's a huge no-no. A nice driver's seat offers good thigh support, but office chairs all have these "waterfall cushions" that slope downwards and feel awkward. I don’t mean to sound ungrateful, I am so happy people want to gift my baby so many usually very expensive things! I will be giving away/donating the excess items! That being said… my mother in law is driving me nuts. I have a registry with the things we want/need and once e they are bought, they get marked off the registry. She has completely disregarded the registry and has been buying things off Facebook marketplace/temu seemingly at random no now have two bounce chairs, three car seats, 7 0-3 month old bathing suits??? And four changing table cushion things. Muslin bins from Temu that are tiny and triangular, don’t really seem like they will function very well as a bib (but looks great on my cat) she got me an ice maker that connects to a water line but our house is old and we don’t even have a hook up for it. She got me second hand pacifiers… maybe that’s too nitpicking of me but I don’t want to use them. I would much rather she be stocking us up on things like diapers or maybe formula. I am trying to next but she keeps bringing these things I don’t want to our house. I saw this article yesterday, and I can remember growing up, we had a 97 Dodge Caravan Sport that had something like this. In the middle row, the center of the cushion folded down into a car seat, with over the shoulder harnesses. Obviously as a 10 year old, I didn't appreciate it, but it would certainly be nice now. Howdy folks. Just spent part of my weekend replacing the driver's side foam cushion that is notorious for crumbling. This is due to multiple entry/exit use over the years (13 to be exact). Overall job was time was 5 hours, including washing seat cushion thru washer and hang dry in sun for about 1.5 hours when I was eating my lunch. All done on my 2013 Toyota Highander Plus. Only Driver's side has power seat. This video helped out the most: HotRodUpholestry Disassembly was pretty easy and included the following fasteners/screws/bolts: 4 x black trim screws 2 x powered chair buttons pop off 2 x metal silver screws for panel trim on control panel 2 x plastic fasteners for cloth cover 4 x bolts for chair 17 x hog rings (11 for seat cushion on top, 2 for cloth on bottom, 4 extra on back flap ) Tools used: power screwdriver trim removal tool for car socket wrench for large bolts holding chair to ground cutter for hog rings hog ring tool with 3/4" hog rings Part number: 71512-0E080 (YMMV) I didn't do a video but these pictures should help. Hey everyone, I am looking for feedback on my biggest project so far. I was asked to make a drop-in replacement controller for a 2016 Jaguar seat. The seat is going to be retrofitted into an older car, and the original controller does not work without CAN. I had a limited amount of time, so I recognize the design might not be beautiful. I used an ATmega328P as the main controller, three MCP23017 GPIO expanders, and four DRV8300UDIPWR gate drivers to read 18 buttons on the switchpack, drive 6 DC motors, and drive 10 pneumatic solenoids, along with 2 heaters and 2 blowers. The bottom PCB holds the MCU, one GPIO expander, the drivers, and the high-power MOSFETs for the motors, heaters, blowers, and a pneumatic pump. The upper PCB holds the other two GPIO expanders, which are responsible for reading the switchpack and controlling the pneumatic solenoids. I acknowledge some of my shortcomings in the PCB design. I know that the traces between the gate drivers and the MOSFETs should be as short and thick as reasonably possible due to high current during gate charging, but I am not going to use PWM. I know that I did a somewhat poor job in terms of crosstalk, but the design is relatively low frequency. I used traces for power instead of a copper pour, although GND is a plane. That said, I do not think any of this is critical for correct operation. I used 4-layer boards with the following stackup: F) Signal In1) GND In2) PWR / SIG B) Signal I also made a second ground net that can be toggled by a MOSFET. This ground is used solely for status and debug LEDs, with the ability to turn everything off after the debugging stage. FTM here, I have an almost 6 month old who hates her car seat. I have an evenflo pivot lite max that I got from Walmart. I bought it because I heard it had good reviews and was not $1000. I had looked at Nuna and Maxi Cosi brands while I was pregnant and I liked them, they looked comfy, and really good quality but the price deterred us from investing in one. But here I am 6 months later wishing that I had. Once we had to take the newborn insert out of the car seat there was barely any cushioning and my baby gets really uncomfortable sitting in it for long periods of time. The stroller and bassinet attachment are fine but also not very comfortable. Now I’m thinking of getting something like the 4-1car seat that will grow with my baby. I wanted to get another travel system but she’s eventually going to outgrow the baby car seat and I’ll have to upgrade again. Now I don’t know if I should buy a new car seat and stroller separately… For the moms who bought Nuna or Maxi-Cosi, was it worth the money? I'm the reason they all got killed. It's on me, I caused it all. It was my high school graduation. After the whole ceremony, we went to go celebrate at a restaurant, nothing too fancy but still something special to us. It was on the way home when everything went horribly wrong. We got T-Boned in an intersection by a semi that had ran a red light. Our car wasn't the largest, so the back seat was my two older brothers and me. I was sitting on the far opposite side from the collision. I survived because my brothers "cushioned" the impact for me. Their corpses saved me. I came out relatively "unscathed" with two broken ribs and a fractured collarbone. My parents died mostly painlessly at least, or I hope. I was trapped in the car with my dead family, my brother's body pressed against me, my entire body screaming in pain. I can't sleep anymore without it all just replaying in my head. Family was DOA when ambulances arrived, that's my only consolation. But it was just my fucking fault. We were celebrating my damn graduation. We could have gone to any other restaurant and not been there. But it was my choice, and I decided to screw us all over. If only we had gone somewhere completely else. Or I could have failed school or something, done something to stop or delay my graduation. I could have taken more time at the restaurant to avoid the moment, or less time to be far ahead of it happening. I just don't know anymore. I feel so pointless. I don't know what to do. It's been some six months and I still can barely get through the day without having a breakdown or panic attack, if I even pull myself out of bed. What's the point of doing things if my family is gone? I'm lucky in some ways I guess, I'm able to live with my bf and his family for now so am not homeless but I know they don't like me at all and I need to move out, but it's so hard because I'm just so scared of cars and have been too depressed to look for any employment right now. I know my bf hates me especially, because I've been so different. He hasn't said it but I know he thinks that I'm different and hates that, he hates I'm not the girl he used to love. I'm so emotionally unstable now and always volatile, he has to walk on eggshells around me because he knows at any moment I can just start crying randomly or lash out and want to be alone or something, that my entire personality has changed. I used to be this happy, upbeat adrenaline junkie who loved trying new things, going new places, and making new experiences. Now I'm just a weepy bitch who keeps inside and doesn't do anything anymore, all the life and energy has just been sucked out of me. His parents are amazing people but I can't stay under their roof and let them keep feeding and housing me for free, it's extremely unfair to them and I think they resent me too for being so lazy. I'm basically just dead weight at the moment, I'm not working on my future or anything and they're stuck trying to care for me with the unexpected financial burden of essentially a second child who isn't doing shit to help or progress their life. I know my bf hates me because I don't want to go anywhere. I start panicking and freaking out just getting into a car, there's not much in walking distance. I can't tell how he thinks of me physically, I know I haven't been taking care of myself as much sense. I think I might have gained weight? Or lost it, not sure. I don't go outside all too often for exercise but also barely eat. I don't want his parents wasting too much on food and I'm never hungry anyways. Therapy has had to be video calls because I don't want to drive there myself, nor am I willing to let anybody drive me to an appointment because cars just scare me so much. I know I need to get into one again in the future eventually but I just don't really know how. I know I shouldn't be complaining sense this is all my fault but if I knew I was going to be so destructive I would have just not been born, I wish I was never born. With no reasons left to live I'd kill myself if I had enough motivation. I just killed my family and it's ruined my entire life. There's just nothing. The seat and lumbar cushions have fixed the problem my wife was having with the seats. Her back no longer hurts. I apologize for not replacing her, but she is now happy in my car. No more back pain. I sat in some brand new cars at the Chicago Auto Show today. I noticed that every car I sat in had rock hard seats that only had a little bit of give to them. Almost felt like sitting on a dining chair or bench. Even a Lexus ES350 which I thought was sort of a luxury cruiser car, a Ford F150 Platinum Limited, Kia Telluride, an Acura MDX, Ford Escape, Subaru Forester, GMC Terrain, VW Tiguan etc, so not sports/performance cars in any way. The seats felt ok but I don’t think I would be comfortable for more than maybe an hour of driving in one of the brand new vehicles I sat in today. Getting out of the Lexus my back brushed up against the bolster which felt hard as rock and actually hurt my back :( My personal car is a 2007 Saab 9-3 with 175k miles on it and the leather seats have much more cushion to them. You just sink right in but they’re also supportive at the same time. I can take a 5hr road trip in my car with no stops and not feel sore at all. All of the other 10-20 yr old cars I’ve been in had much more cushy and comfortable seats as well, even a late 2000s Toyota Corolla and Hyundai sonata. The Saab has the best seats I’ve sat in in a car though.
