Struggling with boot fit - Looking for Recommendations
Hey everyone, I'm sure this sub gets littered with these requests, but I've been struggling for a while to understand why I can't seem to find boots that fit, and after hours of searching reddit, youtube videos, and going to try on boots a few times, I'm still at a loss. I currently have the Ariat Sport Outdoor boots in an 11D. Even after adding a different insole the things are still just loose. I get a lot of heel slip, and can easily slide my foot forward and back. I like the look of the boots overall, very clean and "basic", nothing fancy. They are 11" shaft, but the shaft is very wide. I took a tape to it and it's 7" across, and so most pants you can sort of see the outline. I measured myself on a brannock device at Boot Barn and it appears my size is an 11.5. I didn't do a great job measuring width because their brannock was not a brand name one and didn't pay close enough attention, but I took a tape measure at home and appears my foot is about 4 3/8" wide, which puts me in an 11.5 D as a true size. I've got a high arch, and my foot (like the rest of my body) is slim. I tried on a bunch of different boots and brands at Boot Barn yesterday, and I'm just struggling to understand how the sizes can vary so much. There doesn't seem to be any consistency across style or even brand. I like my current Ariats, but trying on other ariats and I'll see that it's either too narrow, too short, or too large everywhere. I live in the north east, and while western boots are pretty popular it's not anywhere near as popular as out west and maybe not shockingly, there are less boot stores then when I was growing up in Cali. So my options "locally" are Bass Pro, Boot Barn, and maybe a small selection at a random store here or there. I'm at a loss here. I feel like there is no way I can order online because even across brands there is so much inconsistency from boot to boot, and locally there doesn't appear to be a great option. If I measure at an 11.5 E, should I be going for a 12 D? an 11 EE? I'm lost cuz my current 11 D is too big in the vamp, but I have a high arch, so it makes no sense. I'm just looking for a basic brown leather boot. Something that won't obviously show through my jeans/carhartt pants, and isn't super loose. Partially I'm just venting because I don't understand. Partially, I'm looking for help. I see so much online, but I'm mostly limited to boot barn up here. Help? submitted by /u/UglyViking to r/cowboyboots [link] [comments]

Outdoor lined pants that are ACTUALLY loose and have ACTUAL pockets
Okay, I have a pair of MENS carhartt force lined relaxed fit model 106409 that i absolutely love, however, after chatting with carhartt, they have NOTHING like this in women's. I have search nearly every pant in this r/BlueCollarWomen subbreddit and all of them still look extremely tight fitting around the butt and thighs. Relaxed fit in women's is not even relaxed fit! Relaxed fit in men's is waaay better (which is stupid bcuz most women have bigger thighs than most men). I need to MOVE while i'm working in sub zero temps. So stretchy is a must. Relaxed fit like men's relaxed fit and not just butt & thigh, but ALL the way down the leg to ankle. Pockets that are actually there and at the right height (not super high or super tight or super shallow). And fleece or lined with something for cold weather. Maybe i'm asking for the non-existent, but i'm so fed up with these companies that say they make women's work wear, when they don't. They make women's pant that LOOK like work wear but compared to men's, pfft, not even close! AND women's are more expensive! even though they use less material on average! I'm so bent out of shape and sick of wearing men's pants. Honestly the only reason I don't like men's pants is that the crotch is like, halfway down my thigh and seriously restricts movements. Anyways, sorry for the rant. Please help if you can, or let me know I'm looking for something that doesn't exist. Or hell, provide detailed directions on how I can hem up the crotch in mens pants so it isn't so low. Thank in advance! submitted by /u/Important-Bid-9792 to r/BlueCollarWomen [link] [comments]

Transmasc nonbinary person (re)building a masc wardrobe?
Been reading this sub and its guides for a long time. I had top surgery earlier this year. Now finally getting to quit camouflaging a body I didn't feel right in, stop buying massively oversized clothes, and build a more coherent wardrobe. My goal here is to mix more masc pieces with my existing femme ones to get to a "slightly fruity guy shops both sides of the store" vibe. Asking MFA as I'm trying to learn how to dude, but if this is too far afield for this sub, let me know :) Big question**:** I'd really like help identifying some of the gaps in my wardrobe. I can't buy everything at once, but what should I prioritize finding/adding, to be able to put some things together better? What kinds of cuts should I look for? Additionally: What style (below) am I describing/going for - e.g. what key words should I be searching for with inspo? Are there certain brands/stores/etc available in the EU (or even other IG/TT accounts) I should be looking at? ...And: how on earth do I style a sweater vest in winter without looking like a square? Inspo: I'm aiming for slouchy-masculine shapes, casual but put together, mostly minimalist with a few touches of bright colors or luxurious texture (a little bit of dopamine dressing??). I follow and like Luke Liu (@lukeliiu), Daz (@dairemats), Chris Ly (@chriswhly), @FashionwithNathan, though perhaps the latter two are a bit more advanced than my level so far. This capsule and inspo guide also speaks to me. Other Pinterest images that seem to capture the vibe: one | two | three | four | five | six Lifestyle: living in a northern European city, and my world tends toward informality, streetwear and black/dark clothing. My days are working from home, gym, errands, social meet-ups (e.g. dinner, bar, gallery, sometimes clubbing). Occasional work events range from polished/creative streetwear to smart-casual; very infrequently business-casual. Silhouettes: I shop on both men's and women's sides. I’m 175cm, flat chest and relatively broad shoulders. Pants can be tricky - I still have hips so sometimes need to buy pants from the women's side / inseams of some brands like Uniqlo are short for me. I like to emphasize height/long lines, so tend towards fitted or slightly draping items (rather than super boxy or bulky), wide-leg pants, chunky shoes. Curious to play more with proportion and volume. Budget level: Aiming for decent quality but on a budget. Often shopping at COS, Weekday, Asos, Uniqlo, Zalando, Vinted, seldom Zara, local secondhand/flea markets. Willing to spend a little more for investment pieces and to vary my "usual" stores a bit. /// What I already have for fall/winter wardrobe (excluding gym wear): 3 buttonups, all quite oversized: white dress shirt, black non-iron, bleach-and-black tiedye workshirt (white probably needs replacing and isn't great quality) 2 fitted longsleeves: black Smartwool base layer, mesh-ish Weekday monochrome tiedye (similar, but in brown) ~5 sweaters: olive Uniqlo roundneck, black turtleneck, oversized cotton Zara black V-neck (similar). Just ordered a burgundy grandpa cardigan and a gray full-zip with a standup collar. 2 sweater vests I've never known how to style: Jaded olive asymmetric zip vest, Uniqlo cream vest Some layering t-shirts and tank tops in black and white from COS, Uniqlo, etc. One Prince t-shirt and a couple other band/music shirts. Jeans/slacks: gray Jaded Colossus jeans (a little ratty), black Bershka dressy-ish pants (need replacing; no pockets) and Urban Classics black twill pants, two miscellaneous pairs of more upcycle-y, distressed, bleach-dyed jeans (gray/black, brown/black) that are very casual. 1pr black cargo pants I wear only for clubbing and don't know how to style outside that context. One gray pinstripe suit: women's section, jacket needs tailoring and I'm not sure how to style it casually. Pants are wide-leg, flowy and easier to mix with casual clothing. Sweats: WATC cream hoodie, WATC black zip-up hoodie (both oversized but in a good way), Urban Classics fitted black hoodie, Carhartt purple velour/velvety crewneck. Adidas green classic track pants, Adidas black parachute track pants (old; need replacing), heavy gray Weekday sweatpants. Bags: Carhartt waist bag, an Adidas shoulder bag, UY Studio black vegan leather sling bag, Zara faux-leather laptop backpack (similar). Shoes: Nike Blazers low, black Salomon XT-6 trail runners, Doc Martens Jadon platforms. Doc Martens cherry red low 1461s I'm debating whether to break in better or sell (they're a little clown shoe-y). Outerwear: Leather moto jacket (women's brand, but boxy/straight cut), way oversized leather bomber jacket (thrifted; similar silhouette), Weekday wool mix long coat, a leopard fake fur I'm considering getting tailored from an A-line shape to a straighter, more masc shape (???), simple black bomber that I'd like to swap for something w more volume. Other misc accessories: Simple black leather belt with square silver hardware, 1 clear plastic belt with grommets; a couple simple chain necklaces and rings in gold and silver, Casio watches in gold and silver. Lots of appreciation to y'all! submitted by /u/OkBet1233 to r/malefashionadvice [link] [comments]

Where to start with higher waisted pants - A beginner's guide
It seems like about once a week I see a post on here about someone asking why their tucked-in shirt looks like this and not like this (not trying to put anyone on blast! Just needed a quick example). The answer is always the same: wear higher waisted pants! I know this can be a bit scary. I am a Millennial. I lived most of my life in Levi's 511s, the default silhouette for men's trousers (for my generation): low waisted and tapered. I'm here to implore you, beg you even, to give fuller cut pants a try. Higher waist, fuller legs, straighter cut. It may be uncomfortable at first, it may feel like you're cosplaying, but trust me, once you get used to it, you will never go back. And this isn't just trend-chasing. I am not asking you to embrace Gen Z baggy jeans. What I'm suggesting is middle-of-the-road, immune to trends, classic trouser cuts. The tricky thing about transitioning from something like a 511 to a higher waisted pant is that the sizing you are used to won't work the same. For a high waisted pant to fit just right the waist has to be snug-- ideally they would stay put without a belt. If you're used to wearing a 32 in a lower waisted pant, there's a good chance a 32 in a higher waisted pant just won't fit you. So the main point of this guide is to give options that are cheap and that you could fairly easily go find and try on in the real world (for two of the examples, at least), or that you could order multiple pairs without breaking the bank. And from there, you'll have a better idea of how higher waisted pants fit you, and you can explore more options. So without further ado, here's three budget-friendly options for getting into higher waisted pants. All of these sit in the 11.5"-12" rise range. If you haven't worn higher waisted pants before, it's likely you are used to something like a 10"-11" rise. Trust me, even 1" will make a huge difference in look and feel. 1. Jeans - Wrangler Cowboy Cut Yes. Wrangler 13WMZ Cowboy Cut. Why? A bunch of reasons: They're $60. They're 100% cotton. They aren't even that high of a rise: mine are 11.5". The pockets actually sit on your ass, instead of hugging under. These are such a great starting point for getting a feel for wearing higher waisted jeans. If you're used to lower rise, stretch pants, this is where you should start. The other great thing about Wranglers is they are not hard to go find in the US. There are a ton of Boot Barn/workwear stores all over the country that carry just about every Wrangler cut. Go try some on! With jeans, more than any other kind of pant, you really should steer away from stretch. 100% cotton only. They will look better, age better, and generally just have more character. Even budget, mass-produced, Wranglers jeans look miles better than their stretchy counterparts. The bonus option here is to go with the "rigid" line. These are raw, unwashed denim. They will fit boxy and weird at first, but as they conform to your body and wear in, they will look better than pre-washed denim. And they're cheaper! Here's a good thread from menswearguy on jeans. 2. Work Pants - Carhartt There's a few different routes you can go with Carhartt. The key here is to stay with their "loose" fit (the roomiest, highest rise) and 100% cotton options. And, I know what you're thinking: "I'll be swimming in these!" Yes! These are big pants! But trust me, they won't look as ridiculous as you think. And once you get used to the freedom of movement you have in these, you'll wonder why you ever wore constricting or stretchy pants. And again, the price is right. I think even if you're not super comfortable wearing Carhartts as a fashion choice, they are great for so many other things: yard work, camping, hiking. And the harder you beat them up, the better they'll look. And, like Wranglers, these are fairly easy to go find in the real world and try on. Washed Duck Dungaree - standard work pant, extra pockets! Double Knee Dungaree - the classic double-knee Utility Work Pant - lightest option, look the most like "regular" pants 3. Not-Quite-Work-Pants, Not-Quite-Chinos - Ben Davis Ben Davis are the biggest pants of the bunch. And they break the fabric rule: they are 50/50 cotton/polyester. But they're thick and hold their shape, and they're generally hardy and well made. These are a great alternative to Dickies. The cool thing about Ben Davis pants is you can dress them up or down. You could wear these with nice leather shoes or boots and a tucked in buttondown, or with a sweater and sneakers. You could wear these to the office or the skate park. The styling on the website is not flattering, however. If you're nervous about how big these bad boys are, they have a trim fit, too. Some Final Thoughts The biggest reason you should try bigger pants imo, is because overall they look better. When you wear pants that sit closer to your natural waist, and fit correctly, and aren't tapered, you get a more flattering silhouette, every time. If you look at the silhouettes of some of those pics I linked above, of 511s and more tapered pants, you'll see how the pants buckle and cling to the waist and knees and calves in a way that is really unflattering. When you size up and give those areas a bit more room, your legs will look longer and fuller. Tucking in shirts will look and feel better. Another thing to think about is how the pants sit on your shoes, that is, the length. This can make or break a fit. This is almost esoteric, secret-sauce, type knowledge. There's no single answer. Wrangler obviously look classic when they stack over cowboy boots. But they might look silly stacked over vans. Personally, I give mine a double roll over Converse most of the time. Carhartts can look good stacked over boots; but they can look sloppy, too. Ben Davis come pressed and will sit quite straight if they aren't too long; but they can buckle weirdly if they hit your shoes. I got mine tailored so they hover just above my shoes and stay straight. This will ultimately be up to you and how you want to wear your pants. Just pay attention to silhouette and how the pants drape. submitted by /u/ConorJay to r/mensfashion [link] [comments]

LES WIDEBOYS
Full Suit - Half Balloon Cabinet Maker Brown This is NOT your Carhartt Carpenter pant! Dating from 1880 - these are the original work pants - wide cut, button fly, with a balloon shape , sweeping down to an 8 inch ankle in canvas, drill, moleskin or corduroy… They are the quintessential french work pants. Loose fitting with varying widths and faintly comic names: The Straight, Half Hussar, Full Hussar (based on cavalry pants) and for work: The Balloon, Half Balloon and the voluminous Full Balloon.. With nicknames like “wideboy” or "big boy" and commonly known in France as ... The Largeot. Half Balloon, Balloon, Full Balloon LA FONT LE LARGEOT "I remember in particular the silhouette of a carpenter, tall and sturdy, who always wore a wide red flannel belt rolled several times around his waist and brown velvet* trousers with slightly baggy sides." – Robert Debré, The Honor of Living Testimony. Paris. *By velvet he refers to corduroy Unlike many workwear items with uncertain origins, or different parties claiming to be the creator, the Largeot has a well documented originator: Adolphe Lafont of Lyon, France. Curiously, it is claimed that he was the creator of the “carpenters overalls/dungaree” in 1844 (later perfected by Levi Strauss). The Largeot came a little later being sold by Lafont from around 1890. LaFonts Storefront Lyon WIDE-FITTERS OF THE WORLD, UNITE AND TAKE OVER Worn for ease of movement while working they were sold to and worn by most trades. Although the black moleskin or corduroy trousers were initially designed for carpenters they were quickly adopted by construction workers, roofers and more. Held up by a fabric belt or sash they soon became a symbol of the Workers Rights. The construction industry was the driving force behind this labor movement at the time and wide ranging strikes in Paris in 1909 led by earthmovers on the Paris metro construction sites, united many of the working class.. From Postal Workers to Railway Men. Happy Striker - In Half Balloon and Sash Paris 1909 Images of workers in their “Largeot” adorned posters in the socialist and trade unionist imagery of the time. Political illustrations and caricatures presented the Largeot as the worker's garment and contrasted it with the “capitalist bourgeois” stiff shirting and formal black suits. Parisian Socialist vs Stiff Bourgeois "On Sundays, he puts on a clean shirt, a less dirty felt hat, a less green overcoat, swaps his old, loamy trousers for a brand new pair of wide, black velvet (cord de roi) ones, his red flannel belt for a blue one, and, hand behind his back, still with the same slow step, goes off to wander the streets." – Auguste Brepson , A kid, Paris, Rieder, 1928, p. 227. COLORS, TRADES AND MODERNITY As with much traditional workwear, the color of the pants varies depending on the trade: black is dedicated to carpenters and roofers. Ecru or beige fabric is mainly used by sculptors or stonemasons. Brown for cabinetmakers and joiners. And blue is associated with shipwrights, metalworkers and later general workers and factories. LaFont - Black for The Roofer In France these professions have managed to preserve their codes and wide-legged trousers remain favored for their robustness and comfort. Throughout the 20th century, the Largeot was a modern and authentic pair of trousers. Today, they are traditional trousers, carrying ancestral values and a strong heritage. Much like the cachet of champagne from the Champagne region or British pork pies from Melton Mowbray, French trade associations , the “compagnons-du-devoir” recognise the Largeot as the “official heritage pants" for tradesmen. Le Laboureur - Note The High Waisted Version Left. HOOKS, LOOPS, POCKETS AND SUSPENDERS Only a handful of companies still produce The Largeot and while some models have added and adapted with, higher waists, tool loops and suspender buttons; thigh pockets for a folding rule, pencil and gauge; a cinch back and even, this century - ”quelle horreur!” - cell phone pockets! Still, The Largeot remain steeped in tradition, heritage and respect for the past. Classic Largeot in Ecru For Stonemasons. Note the sudden taper to the ankle. Produced in moleskin, corduroy and a cotton/linen mix the traditional model would be simple with a button fly and slash pockets, a ruler pocket and smaller pocket for the pocket watch. Version with Cinch Back and Suspender Buttons HAMMER TIME NOT “HAMMER TIME” Balloon pants in general have made a kind of streetwear comeback the last 5 or 6 years, but I wonder how many can claim a 200 year history? Indeed most of the modern balloon pants seem based on Japanese styles or Bugle Boy “parachute pants” of the 80s, being much wider both at the leg and ankle. Le Laboureur High Waist Version - Stone Mason Ecru Le Labourer and the original LaFont still produce genuine traditional models, paired with the same brand/material chore coat is the look for me! TL;DR: The Largeot (a.k.a. “wideboy” pants) are classic French work trousers with balloon‑like legs tapering to a narrow ankle. Originating in the late 1800s from Adolphe Lafont of Lyon, they became iconic among tradesmen and a symbol of the French labor movement. Traditionally made in moleskin, corduroy, or canvas, they later featured practical details like cinch backs. Few makers remain (notably Lafont and Le Laboureur), these heritage pants also enjoy a streetwear revival. submitted by /u/garage_artists to r/HeritageWear [link] [comments]

Building A Masculine-Leaning Wardrobe
Building A Masculine-Leaning Wardrobe, With Considerations for Body Type Or, the Basic Bastard, but for Butch/Stud/Masc Lesbians who can't just go wear men's clothes. Alternate, more-detailed, google doc link. How to use this guide: This is intended to be a tool to help folks who are rethinking their fashion to be more masculine, who want some product recommendations, and folks who are frustrated with how their body shape, size, etc. doesn't let them dress how they want to dress. It is not meant to be the masc fashion bible, nor is it meant to represent anything but the opinion of two people who want to help folks potentially feel better about the clothes they’re trying on in stores and maybe find some clothes that work for them. It is, however, meant to help people branch out and away from jeans, a hoodie, and a t-shirt. The idea behind this guide is to help people find and build a starter wardrobe that they can then expand on. We want to get you enough masculine clothes that you can go out on a nice date, through a job interview, go out with friends, and look presentable at work and/or school for a few days without laundry. The basic wardrobe consists of the following: A pair of slacks A pair of jeans A short and long-sleeve button-up shirt A handful of t-shirts that fit you well A flannel (note that I say a singular flannel) A denim/chambray shirt A pair of shorts A handful of tank tops (or vests) that work for you A Jean Jacket and Chore Coat, with some recommendations around 1) leather, 2) raincoats, and 3) parkas. This approach draws heavily on The Vivienne Files Starting From Scratch series on constructing a capsule wardrobe, which is well worth the read, even if it is far more of a femme fashion approach. The general principles are the same no matter what kind of clothes you’re shopping for or general vibe for fashion you’re rolling with. Disclaimer: This post is also informed by my (180, 5'7, broad shoulders and narrower hips) and my native Hawaiian girlfriend's (175, 5'3, hourglass, very broad shoulders) experiences with masc fashion, body types, etc. As with everything, your mileage may vary on the advice in this post. Disclaimer Two: This post was written by cisgender women primarily thinking about the body types and body fat distributions that cisgender women and non-binary folks, and trans women who have been on estrogen a while deal with. We also live in the US. Please bear this in mind! Some Tools To Help You Succeed in Fashion: Measuring Tape - Knowing your measurements is essential to finding clothes that fit when ordering online and translating between men's and women's clothing. Get someone to help you measure. Always check the size guide. Boob Tape to ensure button-downs stay closed and look uniform - I'm a B/C cup, and my girlfriend is a DDD; we both recommend Hollywood Secrets, which is available at most US-based drug, shoe, and beauty stores. This shit should be your best friend. Do you ever wonder how folks avoid boob gap? This is how. Well, this and a good sports bra. Ideas and Principles to Adopt: READ: Always read fit reviews on websites offering clothing, and be honest about your weight and height with yourself as you read them to see how you would fit these clothes. Also, review clothing that you like! Don't be afraid to add your weight and height to help others as well. Say you’re masc or butch! Help a friend in need. Know your body shape and seek out fashion influencers, advice, etc., that match your body type. For example, if you're curvy, don't follow and look for fashion advice from petite, curve-less, skinny people. That will discourage you and make you want to throw in the towel before you even get into fashion. I'd also argue that's a form of self-harm and, if my girlfriend's experiences are anything to go off of, will turn you off of trying to pay attention to fashion entirely and only gravitate toward "safe things" like hoodies and t-shirts and jeans. Don't be afraid to tailor your clothes, or to learn how to tailor your clothes. Don't be afraid to wear a bra or binder that changes how your breasts lay on your chest - or no bra at all. You can wear a sports bra or binder (if that's your jam) or a more shaped bra depending on what your support needs are and what you want out of the shape of the shirt. It is okay!!!! to have tits and wear a men's shirt, it's all about having the right bra or binder, and probably some boob tape too. Sometimes you have to spend money to get clothes that fit you well - An issue I keep encountering when I read lesbian fashion advice pretty much anywhere is that there are two price points, one is as cheap as humanly possible, and the other assumes a level of disposable income that a lot of people just don’t have. The thing is, sometimes money must be spent to either get clothes that work or help clothes to fit you better. Paying the extra money for the queer brand, or to take that pair of pants that looks so fucking good on you to the tailor is a good thing. There is no shame in spending money to look good. Get comfortable with with saving up for good quality pieces, or for looking at second-hand options. Step 1: Colors According to the Vivienne Files, a good capsule wardrobe has two core colors (e.g., black and brown), and three accent colors (e.g., red, white, and blue). This is not a how to build a capsule wardrobe post, but the general principles are the same. You probably have one or two colors you like on yourself, one of them is probably black. Figure out what the other colors are! My (very white/warm autumn) colors are baby pink, navy blue, cranberry red, gray, and black with some brown and tan accents. My girlfriend's (Native Hawaiian/Italian/cool winter) colors are mustard yellow, olive green, sunset orange, black, and grey with some brown, cranberry red/maroon (she wears so much do this), and navy blue accents. Your colors are your own! Figure out what makes you look good, and make sure to note them down for looking at clothes. Don't buy clothes in colors you look bad in! Step 2: Sizing & Getting Comfortable So here's the kicker: men's clothing doesn't work on everyone's bodies. Women's bodies are, unfortunately, built differently than men's, particularly if you have curves. If this is rough for you or causes you dysphoria, I'm sorry, it sucks. This is a post with some strategies to shop for clothes in the dreaded women's section if that's what you need to do in a way that suits your personal presentation choices (e.g., how to find or make clothing made 'for women' work for your body). Below are some key pointers that are useful for getting started. Firstly, measure yourself! Here are useful measurements for shopping for clothes. In all cases, don't pull the measuring tape tight to ensure accuracy. Otherwise, you'll feel very uncomfortable in the clothes you try on. Shoulder to Shoulder (esp. important if you have broad shoulders.) Bicep circumstance (measure around the widest part of your bicep while flexing) Many women's clothes have small armholes. Knowing this measurement helps to avoid looking like an overly jacked dude in a too-small shirt, ripping seams when you put on a shirt, or wearing shirts that are so tight that you can't bend your arm. This is a good measure of if you need to size up in a shirt because the rest of the measurements can be tailored. Bust (measure across your nipples) Underbust (measure around your ribcage under your breasts) Waist (measure from the narrowest part of your waist -- probably right around your belly button) Hips (measure from the widest part of your hips) Butt (Around the widest part of your ass) Inseam (measure from your ankle up into your crotch) Find clothes that fit your measurements - not clothes you instantly like or safely gravitate towards, but clothes that fit your measurements broadly and diversely - at a department store or a place like Target, Macy's, TJ Maxx, M&S, Primark, etc. that has a wide variety of inexpensive clothing, and try them on, drawing from both the men's and women's sections of the store. This is how you start to figure out what works for your body type and why you have to try things on broadly rather than just what feels "safe.'' Try on the following in a few different styles: Slacks, Jeans, Work Pants, Shorts When selecting clothes to try on, attempt to locate pieces that seem more gender-neutral to you in the women's section, such as straight-legged or boot-cut jeans or slacks (especially if you're curvy). In the men's section, look for athletic cut pants if you have any kind of curve, as these have more flex built into them to accommodate lifting butt on guys. NOTE ON PANT SIZING: Some clothing companies - especially those catering to a broader audience - use your waist size (e.g., 28-inch, 34-inch) as the size of the garment in question. Other companies use different sizing scales (such as a 10, 14, or 18). KNOWING YOUR MEASUREMENTS WILL HELP YOU TO USE THE SIZE GUIDE STORES PROVIDE TO TRANSLATE BETWEEN THE TWO. Button Up Shirts (note: a button down shirt is a shirt that has buttons to secure the collar down, which is why most shirts you'll see are button up, not down shirts). In the men's section, try on both a slim and a regular cut. Slim will be a tighter fit, particularly if you have curves, regular fit may look boxy on you in the wrong bra. In the women's section, try and find blouses that look more masculine -- this will be found by leaving the 'young person' section and going into the professional women's workwear section of the store. Some of these shirts may have darts, some may be cut baggier than others. Try both. Try and grab at least one fun young man Hawaiian shirt, as those are a fixture of masc wardrobes. T-shirts/Tanks (or vests) Grab some men's v-necks (higher neck) and some women's v-necks (deeper neck, less prone to giving boob shelf if the girls are big); Men and women's crew neck t-shirts, as well as thicker strapped men's and women's tank tops -- these should fit more loosely in a men's fit, or more form fitting in a women's fit. Sweaters/Crewnecks Usually unisex sizing -- so just grab one you like. My general advice for the trying on clothes part of this is to potentially also try on two different kinds of bras. If you've got bigger breasts, you probably want a more structured and supportive bra. This could potentially be the one you wear into the store, if you've got a fave, or this could be one you try on. Also, grab a bralette/unsupportive bra and a good sports bra with medium to high support. When looking at shirts try each with each bra. When trying on pants or shorts, drop a big squat and check if you have duck butt. Step 3: Black Slacks Think of this as an investment. The first thing you'll want is to be able to build outfits that you can dress up or down. This starts with a solid pair of slacks or trousers in a #suiting color. In terms of fit, I would suggest that you avoid having these be super baggy or super slim fitting. Slim or Skinny fitting will make the outfit look feminine (in terms of slacks) and baggy tends to make people look like their clothes are swallowing them. Neither of these looks is good for a wardrobe staple. Some advice from r/butchlesbians: Hem or cuff all pants so there is no excess fabric bunching at the ankle – this makes you look shorter. It is worth it to get nicer slacks hemmed for this reason alone. Keywords to look for: Trousers, Slacks, (and for a slightly more casual look, chinos) Avoid: Cargo pockets, drawstrings, no belt loops, pocket stitching on the pant leg, or double knees. Slacks cut like Wildfang's Empower Trouser, H&M's basic Slacks, Old Navy's Built-in Flex Slim Rotation Chinos or High-Waisted OGC Chino Pants, Both&'s Marlo, Daper Boi’s Slim Fit Chino Pants or Everlane's Utility Barrel Pant or Stretch Twill 5 Pocket Pant have a nice silhouette that can be made casual or dressed up should the occasion call for it. Note: If you look at the reviews and see pictures of either models or owners of the pant style in question and you don't like how it looks on a body type similar to yours, don't order them as returning clothes can be a pain in the ass with time limits and other challenges. However, if you're in a store and can try them on, give them a shot! You might be surprised! Brand Recommendations: $20-40 USD: Target, H&M, Old Navy, Uniqlo $41-80 USD: Gap, Uniqlo, Androgynous Fox $81-120 USD: Everlane, Wildfang, Both&, Dapper Boi $120+ USD: Peau De Loup, Haute Butch, Kirrin Finch Caveat: As I'm sure you've noticed, to buy clothes designed for queer people by other queer people, you have to spend more money. I wish this wasn't the case, as these companies price out most queer folks with how much their clothing costs. However, as these trousers are an investment, it's worth spending more for them and supporting a queer brand if you have the funds to do so. Also, many of these are available on resale sites like Poshmark or Facebook Marketplace. If you know your size, you can easily get pants from Wildfang and other queer-catering brands for far less money (e.g., I paid $35 for my Wildfang empower trousers on Poshmark). Step 4: Button-Down Shirts Button-downs are the staple of any masculine wardrobe -- you're going to end up owning about ten of them. The unfortunate thing about button-downs, though, is that they're a pain in the ass to figure out, fit-wise. Men's shirts tend to fit women with larger breasts or wider hips poorly because (the vast majority of) men don't have large breasts or hips. So when shopping for a button-up, try to take this into account and don’t let not fitting into a men’s shirt ruin your day. There are options! A good button-up should fit your shoulders without there being a ton of space to move around (i.e., you should be able to raise your arms, but you should not be able to grab handfuls of fabric on each shoulder and pull. It also should fit your neck. Men tend to have wider necks than women, which means their shirts are built to accommodate this fact. Gaping collars make shirts look oversized and, therefore, visually look like they fit you poorly, even if they fit the rest of your body well. When shopping for button-ups, try to avoid gaping collars. A good button-up shirt is also one you can comfortably button the whole way down. This includes the last button. A big problem I see with many masc or butch lesbians is that they’re wearing shirts that don’t fit their hips, while they do fit their shoulders, chest, and neck. A solution for this is tucking your shirt in, yes, but sometimes you don’t want to do that, and having a shirt that can be versatile with both a tucked-in and tucked-out look is essential for this wardrobe staple. The good news is that many button-down options are available for women’s bodies that don’t have darts or a feminine cut. However, sometimes, if you’ve got hips, you need a feminine cut that has more space through the hips. Companies like Androgynous Fox, Wildfang, Bridge & Burn, Dapper Boi, Peau De Loup, and Kirrin Finch have all taken this into account in designing shirts that fit women’s bodies. But there are cheaper options as well. Target’s men's section is where I’d start. If you can make a Goodfellow and Co button-down shirt work for you, you’re golden. Try on a few of them. This said, if for whatever reason, a men’s button down doesn’t work for you – take a look at Androgynous Fox's The Mickey, Urban Outfitter’s Cooper Solid Button Down, H&M’s Muscle Fit Cotton Shirt (more space in the chest for breasts) or Wildfang’s The Essential Oxford Button Up. If you have money to burn, Kirrin Finch’s Frankie is cartoonishly expensive but quite worth the price. Everlane’s Relaxed Oxford Shirt is also quite pricey but goes on sale often. In terms of plus size recommendations, Wildfang, Androgynous Fox, and Kirrin Finch all accommodate a wide variety of body types. I’ve also found that Morning Witch's Button Down Shirts (Deathly Bouquet) go up to 4XL. Maurice's Plus Size 90s Prep Relaxed Button Up Shirt and Old Navy’s Linen Blend Button Down Boyfriend Shirt go up to 4X. What’s important to note here is that these sizes are built to accommodate how women’s bodies grow in size rather than how men’s bodies do – these are shirts that provide a boyish, masculine look while also being designed with bodies like yours in mind. Styling Tips: A short-sleeve collared shirt is easier to wear underneath a sweater, crew-neck sweatshirt, or open in the front. A long-sleeve collared shirt is easier to wear buttoned up and tucked in—it also looks more professional. Brand Recommendations: $20-40 USD: Target, H&M, Old Navy, Uniqlo, Urban Outfitters $41-80 USD: Gap, Uniqlo, Androgynous Fox, Urban Outfitters, Morning Witch $81-120 USD: Everlane, Wildfang, Bridge and Burn, Dapper Boi $120+ USD: Peau De Loup, Haute Butch, Kirrin Finch Step 5: Jeans Denim is an essential part of any masculine wardrobe. r/malefashionadvice has a master post about Denim that includes the various terms you may encounter when shopping for denim or jeans that work for you and your body. This master post is essential when reflecting on fit, style, color, etc. It’s also written by fashionable, and nerdy-about-fashion, guys, and has some good product recommendations. A good pair of jeans can look professional (if they are in a cut that looks professional [i.e., not excessively baggy]) or casual, depending on how they are styled. What we want from these jeans is a silhouette that isn’t too form-fitting - but also doesn’t look like it is oversized. Currently, fashion for young people is shifting away from more form-fitting cuts of jeans into baggy styles of jeans – which is fine if that floats your boat. Still, for a pair of jeans that you are turning into a masculine wardrobe staple, I recommend sticking to the more classic cuts: Boot, Straight Leg, Slim, Athletic Slim, or Skinny. I am including skinny here because sometimes, particularly if you are bottom-heavy, skinny jeans can be very slimming, while baggy jeans only work on particular body types (such as those who are skinny, slim, apple-shaped) and tend to feminize bodies that aren’t that type. Vintage Levis are a staple of hipster men’s fashion these days (writing in summer 2024) because they sit at men’s natural waists, which makes them better than a lot of current cuts of men’s jeans to fit a body with hips or an ass. If you’re short and have curves, particularly in the hip, try bootcut jeans. Levi’s makes great vintage-style bootcut women’s jeans (my girlfriend’s go-to) as well as the 315s, which are shaping in a similar look. For a more classically masculine look in women’s jeans, you can also try the higher-waisted 80s Mom Jeans which are tapered, or the straight-fit, mid-rise wedgie that is a favorite recommendation of dyke fashion bloggers. r/mensfashionadvice also suggests the following if you can make men’s pants work for you: Levis 510 (skinny), 511 (slim), 512 (slim taper), 513 (slim straight), 514 (looser slim straight). Bullet point from curvy girlfriend: Don’t be afraid to mid or high-waist it. Levi’s Wedgie only goes up to a 34-inch waist – HOWEVER, I wear a 32, have a 36-inch natural waist and a 47-inch around the widest part of my butt [and a 27-inch inseam] – so I’d encourage you to try them on if you are even remotely close to these measurements. My go-to pair of jeans is the Goodfellow athletic cut jeans from Target (linked in a lighter wash). I’ve also had good luck with Urban Outfitters BDG brand’s vintage slim fit jean (men’s) and their high-waisted cowboy jean (women’s). Additionally, Old Navy’s OG Slim-Straight High/Mid-Waisted Jean (also in curvy) is sized for women (on a 00-30 scale as opposed to 24-50-inch waist scale). Bear your measurements in mind when looking at their stuff. My girlfriend has had good luck with Lee jeans (which are sold at Wal-Mart) and jeans from Express. I have enjoyed my jeans from Nordstrom x Wildfang’s collaboration and my skinny jeans from the Gap. The thing with jeans is that you probably already have a pair or three that you like. What I’d focus on is for more dressy jeans, go for a darker wash with no rips or tears, but for casual jeans, whatever works, works. Don’t let fashion snobs bully you out of clothing that you like and makes you feel confident, or tell you that the cut of jeans that works for you isn’t fashionable anymore (I’m looking at you, Gen-Z), and understand that if it works for you, it works for you and you are the one who makes it fashion. Don’t throw out your skinnies – if you want to wear baggy jeans go for it! Remember that everyone’s style is different but that if something is too baggy or too skinny it tends to look unprofessional. Step 6: T-Shirts Derek Guy (the menswear blogger), has an incredible Twitter thread on how to find a t-shirt that fits you well. Start Here. If you can’t be bothered, essentially he argues that there is a certain ratio between a person’s torso and legs in those classic pictures of men in t-shirts that we masc folks covet as like, fashion goals: slightly cropped torso, long legs. T-shirts are, in general, cut long because t-shirt companies need to sell across multiple torso sizes. This is why styles like the half/french tuck on the t-shirt are so popular with fashion modeling and photography – the shirt is simply too long for both the model’s torso and where their pants sit on their legs. Point being: cheap men’s t-shirts - a staple of most masculine-leaning lesbian wardrobes - tend to sit oddly on a lot of bodies – particularly if you’re shorter, have noticeable breasts or hips, or are rounder about the middle. Buying a 10-pack of Hanes or Fruit of the Loom t-shirts at Walmart will get you places if you have a very specific body type, but most likely, you don’t have that body type. That’s okay! Good quality t-shirts both last longer, and fit you better, but you have to pay more for them. Don’t get sticker shock at spending 20 bucks on a t-shirt if it fits you well and works for your body. So how do you, in trying to find more masculine looks, find a stylish t-shirt that works? Ideally, a t-shirt should fit about 1/3 of your body – most men’s t-shirts are cut to fit 1/2 of a man. Given that you are - most likely - not a six-foot tall man, you probably want to focus on the silhouette that falls just above or just below your hips. Boxier cuts, if you’re slim, look very good on women with breasts. You can also achieve this by tucking in a t-shirt at your natural waist. Don’t french tuck, that was horrific advice on Queer Eye. Cut and Style There are three necklines and one style that I think are particularly useful for wardrobe building: Crew neck (think your traditional collar on a sweatshirt or sweater that doesn't have a hood) This is your basic ‘unisex’ t-shirt A crew neck with jeans or slacks looks effortlessly classy or casual, depending on how it is styled. V-Neck (shaped like a v, obviously) In women’s clothing, v-necks tend to be a bit deeper A v-neck t-shirt under a button-up or flannel allows you to comfortably button up the shirt to the neck without having too many layers of fabric in the way. Henley (buttons at the neck) In women’s clothing, henleys tend to cut lower with more of a boat or scoop-cut neckline before the buttons start. A henley can be worn with anything but looks great underneath a chunky sweater – the kind you find at Goodwill and are like score. Baseball Style Tees (Typically with full sleeves or 3/4 length sleeves - though they do come in short sleeves too) Characterized by having sleeves of a different color than the rest of the shirt and the triangular cut of the sleeves going into the neckline of the shirt is good for people with broad shoulders. Baseball tees make everyone look masculine - they’re practically designed this way. I think they’re a positive staple in anyone’s wardrobe if you’re trying to create a masculine vibe. So try some t-shirts from both the women’s and men’s sections in a place like Target or a department store. Try the athletic and boxy fits and maybe some of the shirts with deeper v-necks, too. Gay men wear them all the time, why can’t you? Product Recommendations My favorite all-time masculine-looking t-shirts are Target’s A New Day Women’s Short Sleeve T-shirt (curvy girlfriend note: these don’t fit well if you have hips, as they tend to sit at the hips and ride up to them), Homage’s Women’s Go-To Tee, Arizona Men’s V-Neck Short Sleeve T-Shirt, Androgynous Fox Basics | V Neck (warning that this shirt runs LONG AF and needs to be tucked in to work and I’m 5’7”). Gap’s Everyday Soft Crewneck T-Shirt (originally got these in a three-pack), H&M Basics T-shirt and their Linen-Blend T-shirt (love the deep v on this). What you’ll notice here is that these are all women’s t-shirts except the ones from Arizona and Gap, but they have the length to achieve the correct length slightly cropped on my body. What you’ll also notice here is that these are all short-sleeved, because I live in a warmer environment. As a Vermonter, I'd be remiss if I did not share this recent NYT write up on Comfort Colors, as the factory is just up the road from my mom's place. My girlfriend’s favorite masculine-looking t-shirt is: Carhartt’s Women’s Loose Fit Heavy Weight Short-Sleeve Pocket T-Shirt Some places and styles to check out: Cos Regular-Fit Mid-Weight Brushed T-Shirt or Extra-Fine T-Shirt. Quince 100% Merino Wool All-Season Short Sleeve Base Layer Tee (also in V-Neck/Women’s v-neck). Men’s Heavyweight Short Sleeve T-shirt from Target, Gap’s Everyday Soft Crewneck T-Shirt, Organic Cotton Vintage T-Shirt, Everlane’s Organic Cotton Box Cut Tee. Uniqlo’s Lifewear Supima Cotton Crew Neck T-Shirt, or, if you can wear an oversized tee comfortably: AIRism Cotton Oversized Crew Neck T-Shirt. Additionally, Carhartt’s Women’s Loose Fit Heavy Weight Short-Sleeve Pocket T-Shirt is an excellent pocket tee. T-shirts are your call in terms of cuts and styles that you like, but you should probably have the following basics: Two plain black T-shirts Two plain white T-shirts One plain gray T-shirt Two-Five plain T-shirts in a few colors you like that look good on you! Graphic t-shirts are a separate matter. As I’ve gotten older (I’m 36 now), I’ve found myself staying away from graphic tees in favor of blank t-shirts, but this isn’t everyone’s experience. My girlfriend LOVES graphic tees and practically lives in them. I have a few, though - a vintage Blondie Tour Shirt, a shirt with mountain on it from J-Crew, and a shirt from a farmer’s market with a bunch of beets on it. My girlfriend has many graphic tees, but the point here is that if you have a shirt you like, keep it! This is not a guide for how to find cool graphic t-shirts, though. ---> Part Two Here submitted by

Carpenter pants for awkwardly sized men
Hi all. As the title suggests, I am an awkwardly-sized man. I have ALWAYS run into issues buying clothing, especially pants. Right now I'm on a carpenter pant kick. Carpenter pants would match a lot of what I wear really well. Looking for a light khaki, dark green, and a dark brown. Now for the hard part. I need these pants to NOT be loose/relaxed/straight fit. So far I've only found one pair at Dickies. I'm specifically looking for a tapered fit. I'm short and stubby, so I have a wide waist, thicker thighs, but small ankles. I bought the Carhartt pants that are currently trending in a 38 (which is generally a size up for me) and I couldn't button them, but my legs were DROWNING. If anyone knows where I can look, please point me in the right direction 🙏🏼 submitted by /u/dr330467 to r/mensfashion [link] [comments]

WHILE I WILL MOSTLY BE POSITIVE IN THIS REVIEW, THIS IS FROM MY OWN EXPERIENCES WITH A SELLER/AGENT/PERSON/DISCORD. I WILL NEVER(!!!!!!!) TAKE ANY PAID PROMOTIONS TO PROMOTE A PRODUCT OR SERVICE THAT I AM NOT SATISFIED WITH AND WILL ALWAYS GIVE MY OBJECTIVE AND POSSIBLE HARSH REVIEW ON SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. IF SOMEONE EVER PAYS ME FOR A PRODUCT OR SERVICE I WILL 100% LET THIS BE KNOWN BEFOREHAND. About me Age: 24 Height: 1.86 meters Weight: 84KG Build: I'd say pretty fit. I'm not a bodybuilder, but I do work out 5-6 times a week (PPL = goated). Retail top size: For almost everything I wear Large as the baseline and size accordingly. Shoe size: 44 Agent Once again I've went with my go-to agent, CSSbuy. It is the cheapest agent there is and I recommend CSSbuy to any somewhat experienced and knowledgeable repfam member. It might not be super starterfriendly, but once you get the hang of what you exactly need then this 100% is the agent of your choice. Especially if you're European they have some great quick (and very cheap) shipping lines. If you don't have a CSSbuy account yet and want to make one you can easily make one by going to their website, or with the referral link I will post at the bottom of this post. CSSbuy positives: Livechat; The one time I used it I got an almost immediate response and the action I needed taken was near-instant as well. Shipping prices. I don't need to say much about it. Their shipping is relatively quick, cheap and also offer a fuckton of shipping options. Do you want your package to do some sightseeing and travel across the Belt and Road Initiative along with a quick pit stop in Namibia? CSSbuy most likely has that option for you. Service costs; For a very small fee you get unlimited QC pictures, you can ask them almost anything and they will do it for you. You may have to wait 1-2 days for action (European timezone is very unfavorable for reps in general, with Chinese working hours being basically deep in our nighttime until early in the afternoon). Agents; While the responses may be a bit slow, they also take a lot of initiative. One example of that was that I requested certain items to be measured pretty specifically (you really need to show them what you want measured really), but the moment I did that all my QC pictures got said specific measurements. If a seller is slow, they'll contact you asking if you want to cancel or keep waiting, and other small things like that. The app; The app isn't amazing (I wouldn't recommend buying items through your phone, it's just much more difficult) but simply having an app where you can quickly check status updates of your purchased items, rehearsal or whatever is very nice. I don't have to wait half a day for me to come home to check the status. Website: Don't get me wrong, they can still fix a lot of the website to make it much more user-friendly. CSSbuy isn't very beginner-friendly. Some things are harder to find, especially if it is your first time with CSSbuy. The more you use it, the better you can navigate around the website and you'll notice how easy some things are there to find and how simplistic things are. Insurance: It's cheap so always worth it. You never know if your airplane crashes, a monsoon ravages your package or whatever. Following instructions: Pretend your agent is a toddler. English is not their native language so also don't be harsh to them if they don't fully understand your wishes. They are here to help you, and if you give GOOD AND CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS they will do the absolute maximum to satisfy you. Security: I swear by having all my accounts as secure as possible. I randomize passwords and never use the same password twice. CSSbuy also allows you to connect 2FA to your account, which I think is massively underrated. You don't want your haul get shipped to hackerman. Reviews: CSSbuy now actively rewards high-quality reviews by giving you a (partial) refund for your haul including shipping costs. If you make use of CSSbuy, I highly recommend making a solid review to get some of that sweet spent cash back. Updates: CSSbuy is currently busy with a change of approach in their style and lately they've been pumping out a lot of updates on not only their UI, but also by adding services. Is it perfect? No. There are probably prettier looking agents out there, but overall CSSbuy will give you the best bang for your buck. Shipping, Invoice & Parcel My agent has the drippiest slides and the longest toes. As I've stated in my previous posts, I am not a qualified QC guy and therefore my ratings and reviews of the pieces might have some bias or missed flaws on something. That being said; I do intent on reviewing the pieces as a neutral in stead of a happy customer of items as the goal of this post is to inform and help you guys. Rating everything 9/10 or 10/10 will absolutely not help you guys. If I do miss something (crucial), please do not shy away from commenting on that piece. If I agree with your take, I will take my time to adjust the review to be as close to the actual truth as possible. If you are a current CSSbuy customer and would like to purchase the item while also supporting me, that's possible now. CSSbuy has referral links of the items I bought (you can do this as well and with every purchase made through that referral link you get a small percentage.) Goyard Passport Holder | New Black | ¥68.00 |~€8.70 | One Size | 176g CSS link |W2C | WAREHOUSE | FIT | IN HAND Review: Basically the cousin of the r/FashionReps staple. I have a cardholder in the same color which I absolutely love. Therefore I decided to go with the passport cover as well as it is always a good idea to have some extra protection for your passport. It makes the passport a bit more 'hidden' for those that don't need to see the location the bright red EU passport if they ever want to have a glance at your bag's inventory. The quality of the piece is the same as the cardholder, so I assume this will be able to last for years. It passes the smell test and it smells actually quite nice and not the standard Chinese toxic factory smell one could expect with plastic-leathery items. Is the print good? I don't know, I have never seen or had a retail piece of this item in hand. It's a damn passport cover, I don't expect people to legit check it. I just want a passport cover and this will do the job fine. Final grade: 7.5/10. Like I said, I have never had a retail pair for comparison but I refuse to believe that this piece is either 1:1 print wise or the durability of a real pair. Would love to hear someone out who actually has the real deal though. It's a passport cover, it'll do the job with the 3-4 uses of it every year. Rhude Nylon Logo Shorts| Metallic Silver | ¥90.00 |~€11.50 | Large | 425g CSS link |W2C | WAREHOUSE | FIT | IN HAND Review: I don't really know how to feel this piece. I did too little research into the item and thought the nylon material would be more like the Stone Island swim shorts that are more familiar to me. However the nylon is super thick and it sort of feels like I'm wearing a thick trash-bag kind of material. It makes noise when walking in it because of the wrinkling and it pretty heavy too. If that's how it is supposed to be then it is actually a pretty decent quality item. The inside netting is very light, not irritating on the skin and as you can see in the pictures the 3M material is really (and I mean reaaaaly) reflective. Final grade: 6.5/10. Perhaps there's some bias in here because I'm not completely sold on the material yet. I will need to wear it a couple of times to see how good it is in the water. Rhude McLaren Pique Rhacer Short| Creme | ¥110.00 |~€14.10 | Large | 448g CSS link |W2C | WAREHOUSE | FIT | IN HAND Review: No words for it, I love this item. The pique material makes it different from any other regular Essentials or EE short we see in this sub. It's super breathable without it immediately showing the rep Louis Vuitton underwear you wear underneath it. The length of these shorts is a big plus to me as I prefer shorts that have a bit of a shorter length. The threading of the Rhude McLaren logo is really solid as well but nothing amazing either. On the inside there are a couple loose threads on said logos but as the son of someone who makes clothes as a profession I know this isn't anything scary. There is 1 thread on the outside I am a bit more worried of, but as long as I just use a proper fabrics scissors (which there are plenty of here) I should be able to cut it off safely. I haven't spoken about the creme color yet but I'll keep it short (pun intended): This cream color will be able to go superhard with my Patta Air Max 1's (yes, I do have the full set) so expect some styleboards that includes these badboy shorts. The laces are super good too as well as the Rhude studs on the end of it. It's heavy, there are no flaws on the metal logo. Final grade: 8.5/10. Not really some massive remarks. The fabric is nice and refreshing, the quality is alright, it's a cool looking item that I can mix and match with a lot of items but also representative on its own. It's basically a perfect eye-catcher without being tacky (looking at you EE shorts). I also have to give a shoutout to this seller. The store of this seller is actually looking insane and has a TON of hidden gems laying around by the looks of it for an absolute steal of a price. Fear of God Essentials reflective backprint t-shirt| Black| ¥50.00 |~€6.40 | Medium | 312g CSS link |W2C | WAREHOUSE | FIT | IN HAND Review: Just like most Essentials pieces it's important to pay good attention to the sizing. I like oversized/loose fit, but it shouldn't be too boxy either. Therefore I decided to size down on the item. As you can see on the fit pics it fits absolutely perfect on my massive shoulders on the torso of this 1.85 tall young Greek demigod. The 3m on this shirt works like a charm and the print doesn't feel too cheap either, this will definitely last a lot of washes. The material of the shirt itself is very good too. It's not thin at all, but also not too thick that it is almost unwearable on a hot summer day. A good IRL friend of mine has this tee as a retail piece and we'll definitely compare them soon so if you want an update on that please let me know and be patient. The stitching of this piece is great as well, even around the tougher pieces of a fabric like corners and twists. I haven't spotted any badly sewed or loose threads yet. Another thing I like about this tee is that the front basically is just a blank. Therefore you can easily use this as a base layer for a more layered outfit by adding a centerpiece shirt over it without drawing the attention away from it with a chest print. Final grade: 8.5/10. The price is a factor in this final grade as I genuinely think it's very hard to find a great quality tee like this for a comparable price somewhere. If you go to the resellers you'll probably get a cheaper blank, worse/more inconsistent print or badly sewed pieces. This also cuts out the middleman and it wouldn't surprise me if this seller is one of the sources for your average middleman. Represent Owners Club t-shirt| Racing Green| ¥50.00 |~€6.40 | Medium | 391g CSS link |W2C | WAREHOUSE | FIT | IN HAND Review: Represent has slowly solidifying its place as one of the Fashionreps staples and I can totally understand why. The quality of this tee is super fucking good. The fabric is thicker than its Essentials counterpart, the collar is thicker (most collars are about 2cm thick, these are at least a centimeter thicker) which makes it quite the eyecatcher. The colors Represent provides are stunning as well. I went for the racing green color, but I've seen the blue color being an absolute beauty and so is the brown. It's from the same seller as the Essentials tee above and the price of this tee is an absolute bargain. I know a lot of Freps kids nowadays just want cheap items and 10/10 it even though the quality is dogshit, but they want it because its cheap. This tee is not only great quality, but absolutely cheap as well due to it being most likely from a bulk seller. Seriously, cut out your Fashionreps paid promoted middlemen and find the good sellers on 1688. You'll get more bang for your buck and this tee is the representation (also pun intended) of that. The fitting is perfect for my oversized/loose preferential. The sleeves are longer than the Essentials tee which highlights the fitting a bit more. While you could get away with the Essentials tee as a gym tee (I can't, I'm a sweaty motherfucker), this tee will not do the job for that so keep that in mind unless you want to ruin the color with your sweat, spit and caffeine overdosed and actual good preworkout components underdosed. On the in hand pics it looks like the backprint is undersized compared to retail but when wearing it it shows that the print is actually correctly placed and the proper size, so don't let that shy away from you. Final grade: 9.5/10. Extreme personal bias warning but I think this is one of the best rep tees I have gotten in like 4-5 hauls now. I'm a massive sucker for British racing green, but if I have to look at it objectively it's still an amazing tee. The blank quality is great, the details are all very accurate (I'll NEVER say 1:1) and the stitch is nearly flawless as well. Get.This.Tee. Off-White neutral backprint t-shirt| Mint Green| ¥160.00 |~€20.48 | Large| 391g CSS link |W2C | WAREHOUSE | FIT | IN HAND Review: I'm like 99.9% sure this is a fantasy t-shirt as the tag code doesn't match the tee (it links to a navy colored shirt with a different print) but I really like it anyways. The material feels very rigid/strong, it's a rather heavy t-shirt and I think the backprint is really cool as well as it's not really out there in your face. I do like Off-White as a brand, but I think more recent pieces are either a bit boring or way too tacky for me personally. I was doubting between the grey and the mint green one, but considering I already have quite a lot of neutrals I decided I wanted a more statement-like color and this mint green is perfect for that. The stitching is a bit more inconsistent than the previous tees (see pictures) but it's not bad by any means. It also has a rather weird cord running down on the back on the inside which I'm most likely gonna cut off unless someone can tell me if it actually has a use. Final grade: 7/10. Not sure how often I'll wear it as it's a quite vibrant color, but I'll definitely get enough use out of it to justify its 'bigger' price tag. Balenciaga I love U t-shirt| Pink| ¥130.00 |~€16.65 | Medium| 354g CSS link |W2C | WAREHOUSE | FIT | IN HAND Review: Like the previous tee, I'm fairly sure this is somewhat of a fantasy piece. I say somewhat because the tee definitely exists, I'm just not 100% certain if this colorway exists as I have trouble finding it with my limited Google skills. I found this Balenciaga seller through the Dutch RepfamNL discord and I was absolutely baffled with the choices it gave me. If you want anything regarding Balenciaga, I can almost guarantee you that this seller has it. We all know the campaign and cringy ass Fortnite t-shirts by now. If you want an actual unique and cool Balenciaga shirt, have a look at this seller. Being this positive about the seller, the shirt surely is good right? Short answer: Yes. Longer answer: The material of the t-shirt is thick as you'd expect with most Balenciaga pieces. I don't own any retail Balenciaga myself, or even a Balenciaga rep up until now so I might not be the best judge of it. The previously before mentioned friend does have a lot of retail Balenciaga (he just completed his first haul though so I highly doubt he'll keep spending paychecks on real Balenciaga) and having felt the material on that it indeed does appear to be very close to the real deal thickness wise. The inside stitching is absolutely a banger as well and I cannot find any inconsistencies in that. One thing that caught my eye in hand was that it appeared to have some cuts in the fabric around the collar and bottom, but I quickly realized that's a part of the design and I kind of fuck with that. It gives the shirt some much needed depth while not being an instant eyecatcher. Once people notice they'll definitely notice though. The print is pretty complicated as it has that paintbrush style, but comparing pictures of a white I

The best relaxed trousers — 13 bought and tested
We find ourselves living in a new normal, permanently working from home. This domestic setting means any kind of formal dressing feels stiff. Equally, I don’t want to wear sweatpants at all times (the delivery man is getting suspicious). Enter the relaxed trouser. I tried out 13 different pairs of relaxed slacks over a number of weeks. The Gramicci Gramicci Pants came out on top with their comfortable fit, versatile styling, extensive colourways and functional details. I also like the premium feeling and cosy Albam Ripstop Drawstring Trouser, and the great value of the Community Clothing Men’s Cotton Chino. Best overall Gramicci G Pant A versatile, comfortable, and affordable pair of trousers with a diamond gusseted crotch, and built in nylon belt. Its understated look and traditional cotton twill fabric belies is outdoor Japanese lineage. $90 Gramicci was a brand started in the early ’80s by a young climber named Mike Graham — the name was an Italian spin on his surname. Their early products were a pair of shorts and pants with some unique features, notably a diamond shaped crotch gusset to allow for movement, and a built in nylon belt for tightening or loosening the waist. It was a brilliant and widely copied innovation, and most outdoors companies have had a stab at it, but the Gramicci G‑Pant is the original and it remains a great pant. Like any great piece of work or sportswear, the G‑Pant has the edge of being designed for function and feels both solidly built and extremely comfortable. It also comes in a dizzying array of colours and variants due to its rebirth as a Japanese based clothing brand rather than the more functional and anti-fashion approach of a traditional outdoors brand. The pricing is reasonable at £75 pounds a pair and it’s widely available in a huge range of colours and fabrics. What I love most about it is its flexibility. The fabric is a fairly traditional twill so you can wear it like you would a smart pair of chinos but the nylon belted waist is and gusset crotch means it has the utility and comfort of a pair of sweats, and the minimal technical details means it’s just as good paired with a contemporary trainer and oversized sweatshirt. In fact, I wish I’d known about these when I was a 16 year old skater as I would gone crazy over the tapered/relaxed fit and comfortable, worn in fabric. It beats the hell out of the insanely stiff Dickies or Carhartts that we were wearing. Downsides My only issues in terms of the product itself was sizing. Presumably because they serve primarily the Japanese market, the G‑Pants come up small and I would definitely size up if you’re in between sizes. In transparency terms I could also find nothing to help me figure out the brands environmental or production credentials. This isn’t uncommon for a Japanese brand unfortunately, but it would be nice to see some basic information for customers attempting to make an ethics driven purchase. Also good Albam Ripstop Drawstring Trouser A premium feeling and supremely comfortable pair of pants available in some beautiful colourways. A visible drawstring detracts from an otherwise great garment. $99 The Albam Ripstop Drawstring Trouser has a fantastic loose, tapered fit with a premium feeling washed ripstop fabric (the sort of gridded fabric used for some military garments). With a small crop and and easy waist, I felt like I was wearing a pair of pyjamas. It was also on the more affordable end of the premium market at just under £100. That extra money buys you a notably better finish than the top pick, the Gramicci Pant and European production. The deep indigo blue, forest green and pastel shade colourways are also genuinely unique. The big downside for me was the visible drawstring in a contrasting ecru, which gave the trousers a slightly crunchy/hippieish look that was at odds with the finish and shape. I think they were going for 70s sportswear. I can’t help but wish they’d gone for a more technical drawstring or kept it internal for a cleaner finish. The latest versions of the style by the brand have done exactly this and I look forward to trying them out, especially in the wool fabrics of their AW20 collection. Budget pick Community Clothing Men's Cotton Chino A shockingly good price nets a very high quality and sharp looking pair of trousers. Made in UK heritage mill Brisbane Moss but the nature of Community Clothing means availability can be an issue. £59 This is a great trouser, at an incredible price. £59 gets you a product made in the UK, in a quality British cotton drill, from heritage UK mill Brisbane Moss. It feels like something you could easily sell for twice the price. The fit is fantastic, with deep, flattering pleats, a loose shape, and a gentle taper from the knee. What I love is the versatility of it. If your style leans classic, it would look great with a shirt tucked in or a piece of lightweight knitwear and some leather boots or derbies. If you’re more contemporary or streetwear orientated, with the cuff rolled up and pair of vans or converse and an oversized t‑shirt, you’ve got the perfect pair of kick around trousers. They also don’t have a drawstring so they are probably the easiest to smarten up of our top picks. The downside? Well, basically they are hard to get. The brand produces them in 3 colour-ways (olive green, navy and a light tan which we tested) but they only make them when there is downtime in their factory — the brand is part of an initiative by designer Patrick Grant to keep factories operating between fashion collections. This and disruption from the coronavirus pandemic means that they’ve only been available in a very limited run of colours since the beginning of our review period, several months ago. Representatives of Community Clothing say that the sizes will be restocked soon. Basically, if you can get ahold of them, these are great value for money and were a strong contender for our top pick. What to look for Availability: We wanted to make sure that I could find something that would be available year round. Range of colours: We wanted a trouser that was available in a decent range of neutral colours, in order to work as a wardrobe staple. Fabric: For our relaxed trouser, fabric was key. How it held up to being worn around the house and how it felt sitting long hours at a desk was essential. This meant primarily cotton in hardwearing qualities like twill and drill. These had to be easy to wear, clean and ideally get better with age. Fit: Relaxed essentially, but what does that mean? Well in practice we tried everything from cropped and tapered high waisted trousers to pleated, drawstring and hybrids of both in our hunt for the most comfortable WFH fit. The fits would mostly be somewhere between straight and an easy taper. Versatility: We wanted a trouser that could do smart in a pinch but didn’t seem stiff when paired with a sweatshirt or a hoody. Easy Care: The best pair of relaxed trousers had to be ones we were comfortable getting dirty in, whether cooking, putting out the trash or doing basic DIY, we didn’t want them to feel precious. Price: We figured that to be a staple you had to be able to afford multiple pairs. The price should probably sit somewhere between £50-£150 max. The competition The Studio Nicholson Bill Pant is a premium take on a straight leg work pant, and at £220 topped out our selection of trousers. You could feel the quality in the fabric, finish and moleskin-like brushed fabric, but the high waist tends to dig in a little if you sit in them for a long stretch and the fabric is a bit on the fussy side for an everyday trouser. I was excited by the Garbstore Work Easy Pant. The brands AW20 collection has some ace looking fabrics and this drawstring work pant in a Japanese cordura fabric looked really interesting. The finishing and quality of the trouser were good but I’m not sure they justified the price tag and fit-wise they came up surprisingly tight/slim for this kind of style. Expensive for what it is. The Oliver Spencer Judo Pant is a mainstay of the brand. They are well made in a brushed organic cotton, and manufactured ethically in Portugal. They almost made it as a top pick and I was really torn over including it alongside the Albam pant. But with a more tailored appearance and high waist it felt a bit too neat for this category and £50 more expensive than the Albam style. The Oliver Spencer Workers Trouser are similarly well made as their Judo Pant brothers, but were a bit of a disappointment. In the words of my wife “it isn’t sure what it wants to be” and I think that’s about right. It has a military style cargo pocket, loose straight leg and drawstring waist which are in theory great but feel like a lot going on when you are wearing them. The Universal Works Baker Pant is a long running style by the brand and I was really happy with them. A smart drill fabric, high waist and loose curved hem meant that they felt much more like a tailored trouser than a casual chino. That said they are great quality for the price and a good option if your looking for a smarter relaxed trouser. The Entireworld Cotton Pleated Trouser (Type B, Version 2) was a disappointment from a brand I really love in theory. The fit was surprisingly slim for pleated pants, and I’m not sure the welted pockets on the front or flaps on the back pockets really worked with this kind of style. I was fan of the almost oxford style Japanese fabric that the trouser was made of but on the whole it felt like a timid take on a pleated trouser. If you’re still in slim styles and are looking to branch out this might be a gateway style for you but I can’t help but wish they’d been a bit more daring with it. The Stan Ray OG Painter Pant is exactly that, a faithful take on the US workwear style, done in a coarse off-white raw cotton material and made to last with triple stitched seams. It felt authentic, stiff and not particularly comfortable. I really like how it draped through the leg. I would 100% size up on this style and it took time to break in. Cool but at £80 feels steep for such a basic utility garment. Filippa K’s Toby Trouser is their minimal Scandinavian take on the relaxed trouser and I really really liked it. It was made of a nice mid-weight twill in a wolf grey colourway. The neat flat front with a fly is a nice touch on a drawstring trouser and it felt like a versatile item. It's especially good value at £65 and the brand has some great sustainability credibility, showing the factories that each garment was produced in. The Dickies 874 Work Pant is the original workwear trouser and…well it feels like it. I can’t believe I used to skate in these, they are so coarse and stiff to break in, and admittedly they feel great once you get there (though the stain proof fabric is pretty damn sweaty). They also feel indestructible and are pretty affordable at around £40 but I’m too old to have pants this uncomfortable. They also come up small with a high waist, so size up if unsure. The Uniqlo Vintage Chino is the brand’s loosest fitting, never out of stock item and it’s got a lot going for it. The brand has clearly aimed to get all the details of the classic mid-century American chino right and update them for the contemporary consumer. The fabric, the finishing on the inside of the trouser and details like the ticket pocket were really well executed. Shape wise though, this is more like a slim taper than a truly straight fitting chino and I see it as the perfect trouser for a guy who wants to loosen up but is scared off by pleats and drawstrings. Great value at £35. This is a new guide from Typical Contents, the “wirecutter for clothes”. It’s by the team behind Epochs, a now defunct menswear blog.
