Trying to build muscle on the carnivore diet.
I have PCOS and hence combine this way of eating with intermittent fasting 18:6 and I've had wonderful results so far. Lost most of my visceral fat. I only eat 2 meals a day. I'm trying to maintain/ build muscle while I lose 8 kgs that is 18 pounds off my lower belly and I'm at my goal weight. I lift weights 4 times a week and rest enough for proper recovery. My diet: Meal 1 at 8AM: -6 eggs eaten as omelettes -200g cottage cheese -100gGreek Yogurt if needed or 100g butter or I'll skip both. Meal 2 at 1PM: -400 to 450g ground beef is all I can manage to eat for lunch And then I'm full for the rest of the day. I can easily go the entire day without meal 2 as well or even multiple days fasted but there is no necessity for me to do so. *My question*: I work out at 7 PM in the evening fasted and don't eat anything until 8 AM next morning as I love sleeping empty stomach. I just started lifting weights regularly. Is this meal plan okay to build muscle since I was told by my trainer to eat a meal post workout but I'm not hungry at all. I love being fasted before and after. I come back home at 9 PM and really don't feel like eating at all. Would love your advice. Why am I not experiencing keto flu on a near-carnivore diet?
Hello everyone, I am currently following a near-carnivore diet. The only exception is that I use olive oil instead of butter, as I prefer to avoid dairy products. Before starting, I did a 3 day preparation phase where I increased my meat intake and reduced carbohydrates to under 40g per day. Since then, I have been eating approximately 700–850 grams of beef daily. I also make sure to consume a high amount of salt each day. I salt my meals generously and additionally take salt with water. My fat-to-protein ratio is roughly 1:1, mainly using olive oil. So far, I have not experienced any negative side effects, including the so-called “keto flu.” Am I doing everything correctly, and is there a reason why I am not experiencing keto flu? EDIT: I feel great so far, although it might be a placebo effect. submitted by /u/Glittering_Proof_324 to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

New to carnivore diet after cancer diagnosis
I am transitioning to being carnivore. We have some other groceries at home and since halting my busienss I have tried to start making meals myself. Once all the non-carnivore food that I specifically bought is finished then I will be purely carnivore. submitted by /u/Kurious_Kaht to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

Low energy and brainfog on carnivore diet
For context,I started carnivore diet for relief from ibs from dec 2025.i have completed 100 days on carnivore diet.my daily meals consist of about 700g fatty beef,300g chicken, six eggs all cooked in ghee. During the first 50 or something days,I had terrible brainfog and felt like my brain crying out for fuel.last 10 days or so I have had some days of absolute fatigue wherein I slept for 3 or more hours in addition to the 8 hours night sleep.there are times when I feel better focus and good energy, but I often crash with low energy and brainfog unable to study. For sure, things have gotten slightly better from the first 2 months, but still I don't feel quite functional. My gut,I feel is still improving and the high fat diet wae overwhelming my digestive system.i had tried electrolytes which was worsening my brainfog.i had multiple other benefits on this carnivore diet and I very much like to continue this diet, but time is running out.i feel pressurized to introduce carbs cause I am lagging behind in college.anybody had similar experiences, please help. submitted by /u/Tiny_Chef9926 to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

My Carnivore Diet Experience After 3 Years
Hey everyone, I had bad experiences with carnivore trying to make it work for last 3 years. My journey started with Erik Berg with keto and then I started carnivore after mold exposure wrecked my gut ( increased SIBO , SIFO and gut permeability and CFS/ ME and MCAS with huge histamine issues and a lot of other issues) and I lost ability to digest plants and for the most of time I was sure diet alone will fix all my issues but it didn’t… I was stuck in a place for so long until I added antifungal supplements and antibacterial like wild oil of oregano, candida support and SIBO-GO and many others … I tried many versions of carnivore , low fat , high fat sticks of butter and raw meat and raw liver , raw eggs raw milk etc and I eaten consistently carnivore no cheating and high calorie from 3000 a day up to 6000 every single day. I’m active walking from 15 km up to 30 km a day day after day or hiking with backpack in Greece summer and light weight training few times a week and Calisthenics almost every day. I’m in hybrid athletes category when I do a lot of cardio but wanna lift as well. No car and almost no public transportation… need a go to supermarket 4,5 kilometers one way on two feet. I had a major issues which are diet relate as: My sleep was terrible i was waking up in the middle of night and all shaking until the morning and all morning… My morning wood is gone for a while now like a year when even on poor „plant based diet„ it was still a thing so that means low free testosterone. I wasn’t able to gain muscle and eating kilos of meat I was underweight this summer to the extreme point of being 55 kilos and had constant fatigue and low sugar symptoms of one minute everything okay and next downhill weak , slow speech feeling sleepy and in slow motion. My gut was never stable diarrhea and constipation on and off and candida and SIBO never gone away . I wasn’t able to get my glycogen stores up and flux of that glycogen for high intensity movements to the point when from mold exposure I couldn’t walk up stairs or uphill without pain and just couldn’t and yes that normal human physiology. Yes even if low carb can restore glycogen it doesn’t provide proper flux especially when redox and mitochondria and liver isn’t in top not order. Fat oxidation can not provide stuff that carbs can do, unfortunately I was sure that carnivore would work but it didn’t… We villainized insulin when chronic low insulin as bad as chronic high insulin, we villainized omega 6s fats when we need them etc etc As someone recently showed me studies how I’m spreading pseudoscience ( not to mention that he cherry-picked things out of it to prove the point ) but I do not need studies to tell me that I can not walk up stairs as 24 year old man when I do eat carnivore or that I have exercise intolerance and can not to 10 push up’s when it is okay 60 is not a problem. As I learned all the diet dogma and carnivore influences are ones who spread lies and misinformation, yes I learn what I should I eat thanks to them but everyone has their own opinions and biases and no one looks at human physiology and biology and logic. I found a lot from Justine Stenger and man other people. They do not talk about redox balance and how this diet causes redox collapse and how mitochondria works. They do not tell you that inuits had genetic mutations to allow them to eat high fat etc etc I learn how nutrient deficient this diet is in contrast to what every MD and PhD on YT says and how it is great elimination diet for a month and how your body makes a glucose ( sugar you need ) is a lie to some degree. After adding carbs first raw milk and raw egg yolks , I gained weight and had a little bit more energy but and after adding starch ( white rice and sweet potatoes ) and fruits like papaya which helps with histamine and digestion , my muscles are finally starting to feel better and I gained masculine look and if I eat consistent meals few meals a day my glycogen stores are full. ( fasting and meal skipping is the worst ). This diet is for obese people who wanna lose some weight not for active people who wanna be healthy and at their peak performance. This is great resources from Lucas Hedenbeck great information no bs just real life stuff. The Nutrition Shift That Changed Everything for Me https://youtu.be/njMOzNxg7fM?si=WwrPWwNLukbdJ5VM Carnivore Is One of the Worst Diets for Performance.. https://youtu.be/xODjUZ6rM5o?si=dCCAq4YuLoTm4J1Q TL;DR Do not believe anyone who says something on the internet and If you do not feel great like superhuman in first weeks or even days, DO NOT wait another 3 years like me to add low toxin plant carb sources. submitted by /u/ShineNo147 to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

Try Carnivore diet
I smelled like death for years and could not for the life of me figure out what the cause was, and went to various doctors, did blood tests, TMAU test, tried supplements (chlorophyll, vitamins, etc.) with nil luck. I suffered from daily humiliations at work and in public that was making life miserable. Then I saw someone on reddit had luck with carnivore diet eliminating their odor issues and gave it a go. Within 36-48 hours of not ingesting any carbs I no longer smelled pungent. The same people who would scramble to open windows when in a car with me could all of a sudden tolerate being in my presence. I no longer have odor issues and can live a normal life. I do allow myself carb heavy cheat meals now and then but only if I know I won't have contact with people in the next 36-48 hours. If like me, you have suffered with this debilitating disease for years with seemingly nothing working and haven't yet tried carnivore, it is worth a try. you will know within 2-3 days if it is effective for you so you won't lose anything if it doesn't work out but your whole life to gain back. submitted by /u/NarrowDurian2031 to r/bodyodor [link] [comments]

Why is it not necessary to go high fat on Lion Diet conpared to carnivore?
I was wondering why I didn't need high fat to feel energized when doing the lion diet compared to when I would do the carnivore diet, there would be so many different factors that would dictate whether I would feel good or not. I'm 3 weeks in carnivore and just had my first lion diet meal today and feel magnificent. Anyone know why high fat isn't a necessity? submitted by /u/alvinsujinkim92 to r/carnivore [link] [comments]

I’m 2 weeks and 2 days into this Carnivore Diet and let me tell you…
First let me describe the Carnivore Diet I am following the last few weeks since I started: strict carnivore diet (meat, eggs, butter from grass fed cows) and I cheated first week with an avocado and a pickle a day. This week I’ve only had a few pickles a day and one avocado. I haven’t found fermented pickles yet. I’ve eaten more steak than I have my entire life/red meat. I actually switched to a nearly all sushi/fish diet in 2015 or ground turkey lean meat back when I was poor and then when I had money sushi all day baby. I thought I lost weight cause I cut red meat out and alcohol. Gained weight back or lost it, fluctuated between heaviest or what I was in my prime teen years. Well now I eat red meat a lot. I love it. Marbled. I eat bacon every day, eggs usually at least 2, usually 4, would do more. I’ve had yellowfin tuna steak once, shrimp, salmon. Chicken breast, chicken legs, thighs. Oh, and coffee black in the morning. A glass of whole milk in the morning, sometimes at night with dinner. I cook with grass fed butter unsalted or salted or beef tallow or bacon grease or beef or chicken grease I have saved from days before. Kefir in the morning if I can remember (or the one time I undercooked the ground beef patties and got food poisoning where my stomach was upset and I threw up. Lasted 20 minutes, felt like I needed kefir, researched it and said it’s good to replenish probiotics after food poisoning which stopped the cramps and throwing up and all better). I did this diet to get rid of my acid reflux which has been a constant since… forever? When I eat something too heavy I feel full and can’t finish. I don’t usually ever finish a meal/plate (now that’s all I do). I don’t throw up anymore from overeating feeling (I never usually ate that much, just always had a “small stomach” and could take 3 bites of a burger and be finished as an example). While that’s why I started… more ailments are lifting! What are they? Sorry for the TMI in some of this: My skin! I’m not breaking out anymore on my back, chest, hips and butt. Red spots from previous breakouts are going away. My skin is healing. I gave up long ago trying to stay clean for no breakouts. I stay clean, they just happen. Not anymore. This is a big one for me I’ve been dealing with since 2020: HEMORRHOIDS! I tried to get a colonoscopy to make sure I didn’t have colon cancer cause the non stop bleeding from hemorrhoids and it was also protrude out. They refused to give me one cause I’m too young. Confirmed they were roids. Gave me a pill to stick up there and special wipes beyond prep H that never worked. I’m not using any of this, haven’t in a while cause I got used to using restroom and sticking them back up every morning… bleeding DAILY. But now? Bleeding has stopped. They still protrude somewhat but I can tell they are slowly returning to their proper place. No more strain or as much strain. As a kid I went #2 every 2 or 3 days. As an adult every day. But it took me 30 mins to an hour to get it all out. I learned to become scared of my own farts. Now it’s like 5 minutes and I’m done. Comes out much easier. Turns out I didn’t need more fiber like my doc said? Long ago they told me to stop the daily pills for stool softener cause I could get addicted to it and bowels will get worse so I did and just dealt with the roids. Now they are leaving! Sorry this is just such a massive thing for me. Now one thing I’m hoping to address but I don’t know what’s gonna be right or not… first time my blood panel came back and now I have high cholesterol (end of last year that report); specifically I had 149 LDL which 0-99 was “normal.” They told me “you need to eat more fish and cut out red meat” and I said “all I eat is sushi!” Then they said “ok well then you should go on a 10 mg statin” and I said no. Realized I was eating more fatty fish like yellowtail and super white tuna etc. so maybe I should try cutting fat out of my sushi diet. 😂 Now I’m eating all the meat I can, fat included. Butter included. Lots of red meat, exact opposite of what they told me. I know I need to do more testing to make sure my blood pressure is ok or something, no plaque in blood? Not sure how to go about that… but in June I’m supposed to do a super test or something that’s included with my insurance to do a deep dive in… something? I don’t know. My docs wouldn’t stop calling me so I scheduled it. My dad has diabetes type 2 (discovered when he was older) my uncle got it when he was older and he died recently. I’m trying to live a healthy lifestyle where I never get it. Anyway just thought I’d share my journey cause I’m amazed. No more acid reflux, no more throwing up, no more “full” feeling (is that bloated?), no more bleeding, skin healing/healed… and this is just a start! Now if I can get rid of the beer belly I’ve had since I was 5 years old that is probably made up of fast food, Olive Garden, and other eating out establishments. And I was never taught to cook. I never cooked before. Now I’m having fun cooking. It’s easy, for one. But I’m moving on to explore how to make pork rind buns and cacao powder butter desserts. Sugar cravings gone mostly (eat yogurt when I get it) but I stashed away the frozen cacao butter treat in freezer for when I really want it. Any advice or encouragement appreciated. submitted by /u/AgentPyke to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

Starting carnivore nearly destroyed my life… not because of the diet but because of how others treated me for doing it
TL;DR: When I began carnivore, my family tried to stop me.. banning me from cooking & eventually kicking me out while I was at a job interview.. leaving me homeless. In the UK, even a full-time job doesn’t always cover rent, so I had no safety net. Over the last few years I’ve lost all friends & family because of judgment & social isolation over carnivore diet, despite it curing all my serious & “incurable” health issues. Carnivore saved my body - but cost me almost everything else. I’m still rebuilding & so far not getting far despite it being years later. We need more awareness and in-person support for people on carnivore diet as not everyone’s story fits the narrative... ——- Full: It’s easy for people to say “just take control & be carnivore” but when I lived at home, I wasn’t allowed to buy or cook my own meat. You might think this can only happen to young people (not that that’s okay) but it can also happen in middle age – all it takes is the loss of your job, savings, health & home, to have to move in with family to get yourself back on your feet. And even then often most starter jobs don’t pay enough for your own home (at least this is true in the UK). Thinking back to when I started carnivore, I was in a terrible state in terms of my health and ability to work. My parents wouldn’t let me use the car if they knew I was going to buy my own meat. When I managed to secretly get to the store to buy meat with my own money, my mother stopped me from using the kitchen to cook it. Even when I solved that problem by buying my own BBQ & put it outside, my dad kept locking it away in the garage beyond my reach so I couldn’t cook my steaks. I then bought an air fryer but was banned from using it in the kitchen. So I put it in my bedroom & had to cook with the window open. My mum got so angry at the “beef smell throughout the house constantly!!!!!” (Which ironically they caused by not letting me use the barbecue outside) & she was angry that she couldn’t control what I ate that she made my life a living hell from that point on. Any attempt to prepare my own meat led to anger, control & punishment - especially from my mother. I was prevented from going on dog walks, banned from going to the gym, exercising, and banned from hiking with my dad (he had to go alone) - all because of this carnivore diet. Eventually, while I was at a job interview, I received a text saying I wasn’t allowed to come home because I need to “think” about my “behaviour”. I was suddenly homeless. I can honestly say that despite my health issues being cured by carnivore, it would have been less harmful for me to NOT be carnivore at that point in my life to avoid homelessness. Anyone who has experienced homelessness knows it doesn’t breed strength and usually destroys a person long term. Homelessness in the UK is no joke.. it’s not just camping - it means dealing with dangerous crime all the time, not being protected by society or police or authorities, being put in extremely volatile & life-threatening situations on a regular basis. There are good reasons why life expectancy drops dramatically once you’re homeless. It’s not because of starvation. Thankfully, one person let me sleep on their sofa (reluctantly) while I tried to find work - but also repeatedly complained about me eating meat in their home. In the UK, it’s not like the US where you can always move to a cheaper area & get affordable housing. Here, even a bedroom can cost more than 100% of disposable income from an average starting job. The UK system assumes everyone has family support when starting out… living with parents is often the only way anyone can afford a roof over their heads while working at the start. But what happens when family aren’t supportive? There’s no safety net. People have no idea how quickly you can end up with nothing- even while doing everything “right.” With all the advice in carnivore communities, there’s a sincere lack of awareness that starting carnivore can be harder than people realise logistically - no one truly knows what someone else is dealing with behind closed doors.. I’ve now been carnivore for 3+ years & cured almost all my illnesses including things doctors told me were incurable, but it was not easy & almost lead to the destruction of my entire life. When people in good situations like Kerry from “homestead how” YouTube channel preach about how easy it is to do carnivore (from his detached home with supportive family & 20 acres of private land), he lacks awareness of how diar different peoples situations can be & how hard it can be just to start carnivore, for some people. Whenever anyone tries to raise this point, he bans them from his channel. It creates an echo chamber & doesn’t help people.. Despite what I went through, I consider myself lucky that my experience didn’t destroy me… and if this has happened to me, then worse must have happened to others, and some of those people probably don’t exist anymore. It’s now several years later and I still haven’t fully recovered emotionally, I’m still estranged from family, have zero friends, and the only person I have in my life is the one who let me stay - but he’s reluctant to spend time with me due to my diet. I just think we need more awareness of people’s different life situations. It isn’t as simple as just going to the shop and buying meat for some people starting out. I’d love to find friends or start my own family one day & give my future kids the stability I didn’t have in the end. I’d love to raise my own cows & provide a cheap & safe carnivore “retreat” in nature for people in my situation. But the truth is, I haven’t had the opportunity to build those yet. UK planning laws are impossible & you basically need to be a millionaire. I won’t stop trying… Since starting this diet a few years ago, I lost all of my friends and family, and close connections I’ve tried to build break down when they realise I’m on this diet… they realise eventually as I don’t drink, eat bakery items, or join in with sandwiches or pub meals. They decide it’s “weird” and cut me off. I don’t know if it’s a West London thing, bad luck, or a wider UK issue, or if more open minded people are already comfortably full in their friendship groups, but I’m seriously shunned since starting this diet 3+ years ago. My physical health has improved but my mental health has taken a hit. Not because of the diet, but because of how isolating it’s been & how quickly people judge (even those who were meant to love you). I got literally screamed at by a stranger (who said he was a retired NHS GP) while talking about carnivore in public the other day. I met up with my parents recently, my dad commented how healthy I look, and my mum looked visibly annoyed that I’m so healthy, it’s as if she wanted the diet to prove me wrong. She seems mentally unwell & in the end both my parents and brother ganged up against me… 3 v 1. They then ended up storming off without saying goodbye. I haven’t heard from my brother since. I’m not giving up hope. But I think we need more than just online communities… we need real-life spaces where people can meet & long term friendships. I would not wish what I have been through (and am still going through) on anyone… but I type this now to say we need to be more aware that there’s always someone going through worse & to have empathy… because for some people, starting carnivore is not as simple as just going to the shop. submitted by /u/Fresh-Wishbone-5557 to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

Plants are not part of the carnivore diet, but you can eat butter with a spoon instead?
Hello dear subreddit! Did you miss me? A lot of you were probably wondering when will I post again, which topic will I use as a pretense to talk about fat, how many downvotes will I be able to collect, and which of the plant eaters ends up in my block list? Well your long wait is over, I'm back! We don't do popcorn here, but you can certainly get your spoon and stick of butter out, and eat that cold butter to your heart's content. Today's topic, as always, is the importance of fat, the major problem in this subreddit of under eating fat, you should eat fat, and maybe add some fat to your meals. The twist in today's discussion of fat is how some of you shoot yourself in the foot by eating plants. When I posted about meat and butter it seemed odd to me that the top comment was so against it, and that I would need to force somebody to eat cold butter. But now it has become clear that a lot of you probably have some fat aversion. The thing is, I suspect, it is a recurring theme in this subreddit, and why so many turn to plants. You never did raise your fat ratio, got over your aversion. If you've been a month or a few on carnivore, you should take that spoon and try it, and your body will tell you that butter tastes great! What triggered this particular post from me is yet another plant eater that claims to eat 75% meat and belongs in r/keto rather than here. This is nowhere near suitable for the carnivorish flair, it's not a little, 25% is a lot of plants! And yet there was plenty of support and upvotes for that person, and again I was called a deranged zealot. What a turn of events. This is our space, and we won't surrender it to plant eaters no matter how much you want to call yourself carnivores. We will make fun of you, and explain why it is a logical fallacy to claim national geographic decides who is a part of our group. And we will definitely not silently take it when you call us zealots, cultists etc, because it is our space and you won't get to emotionally blackmail us just because you want to be called carnivore. Having said that, it got me thinking, why do people fail? I understand what happens afterwards, you look for justifications for your failure, start saying it is fine, it is part of the carnivore diet, start believing national geographic is the final word in dieting just because it reinforces your justification and excuses your failure. It is a natural response, I've seen it happen here, and can't blame you for it. But why the failure in the first place? It can never be carnivore, and will always be considered a troll simply because you do not share the same experience as us. People who eat low fat and encounter problems, or any other carnivore problem, share our experience, we can relate and been through or going through it ourselves. If you add a bunch of plants to solve your fatigue, cortisol, etc, it is not a shared experience, it belongs in r/keto and we cannot relate. This is trolling, spamming, flooding us with pretenders and we didn't come to read it. You are inconsiderate of us who want to discuss things and get advice from people who go through the same thing, and some people really struggle, so why should we have an ounce of consideration for you? We shouldn't, but we don't need to either. I don't believe the solution should be us accomodating you, but rather you dropping the plants and joining us. But you tried it, you may protest, it failed in the past, you exclaim. Well, it appears to me that a lot of the problems are related to fat consumption, and adequate amounts of added animal fat may solve this problem. You see, fat aversion is quite common here. Eating low fat is more common still. Disgust with eating cold butter is prevalent. But all you need to do is grab a spoon and try it. Butter is delicious! Once you are fat satiated, you don't want any carbs anymore, goodbye cravings! Fat is really that good! It prevents you from over eating protein, peeing out all of your electrolytes with the protein metabolism by products, prevents high cortisol, high fat is king! If you notice a problem with meat, don't go back to adding plants, try fat instead! If you encountered problems you believe are unrelated to under eating fat, that prompted you to add back plants, write about them so we can figure out this problem together. Don't get to the point where you are entrenched in your position and ignore logical arguments. Here is why fatty steak doesn't have enough fat https://www.reddit.com/r/carnivorediet/comments/1ipldtm/ribeye_doesnt_have_enough_fat/ Here is why you need more fat https://www.reddit.com/r/carnivorediet/comments/1h2hzgc/fat_and_protein_ratio/ And here is how to do it https://www.reddit.com/r/carnivorediet/comments/1ii6is7/meat_and_butter_how_to_raise_your_fat_ratio/ Good luck, and may thy plates be full of fat and void of plants! submitted by /u/Dao219 to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

So you wanna try the Carnivore Diet?!
OK - So I am mostly writing this to have for Jan 2025 (Carnivore Month) so that I can link people back to it instead of retyping everything over and over. But I am also seeing lots of new people posting new questions about Carnivore. I have been carnivore for 2.25 years, dropped 130lbs, and live typically on beef, eggs, salt, water, & coffee. So ... here is an overall intro to it. I will keep this in bullets for ease of reading: Rule 1 - YOU have to find out what works best for you. This will be a lot of trail and error and fine tuning. YOUR journey is different than mine. THIS IS NOT A WEIGHT LOSS DIET!!! For love of all things that are good...It is a body healing diet or a body optimization diet. Yes, with that often comes weight loss. BUT...for some underweight people it helps them gain which is what they need. For others, who have massive autoimmune or gut issues...your body may feel it is more important to fix that than getting you "Summer ready." If you are looking to crash 30 lbs... I truly would not recommend this diet - it's a way of eating and not to be meddled with as far as jumping on and off. Weight loss will likely happen, but this diet is about trusting your body and letting it do its thing. Learn to listen to it. What to eat - This ranges from the lion diet (beef, salt, & water) to what most people do (beef, eggs, bacon, salt, & water) to some lesser strict options that include cheese and dairy. Just remember, everyone's body reacts to things differently. Calories DO NOT MATTER and do not count them. Your body is not an incinerator. You chemically digest food...you do not "burn" it. When carnivores talk about eating a lot of fat, many will say they do not track how much they eat. They just say "I eat fatty meat until it doesn't taste good" or "I eat fatty meat until I am satiated." While this is true its a confusing measurement for newbies. Maybe, like me, you're a habitual OVER eater and don't have an off switch. For that reason I am adding that when people on the carnivore diet say "eat more fat" we are typically eating 150g-300g of fat per day based on body mass. I bring up a number because many newbies think 60g of fat is a lot... to a carnivore 60g is comical. By a lot of fat we literally mean 150g-300g. Again this all is based on how you feel. As a starting point - aim for your goal body weight in grams and adjust from there. Protein - chances are if you are eating enough fat as mentioned above you will be fine on protein. But if you are someone who wants a number - start with your goal body weight and then experiment from there. Salt - Buy good salt. People swear by Redmond's or Celtic salt. Just get a high quality salt. You can salt to your taste - no worry about too much. Truly, you can salt as heavy as you like. As an add on - I suffered from leg cramps for 18 months on carnivore without being able to find out what the cause was. A friend bought me Baja Gold salt off Amazon to try. Oddly enough, 1 TSP in water everyday and boom... cramps are gone none in over a month now and if I stop for 1-2 days ... they come back. No idea what specifically is in the salt THAT helps...but the salt is what helped! (#ThanksMel!) Water - drink when thirsty. Monitor your pee for smell/cloudiness and adjust as needed. Coffee/Tea - your choice. Strict people don't others do. Everyone has opinions. Most say to just keep it as clean as you can - only adding butter or heavy whipping cream. Dairy - As mentioned above, everyone is different. Dairy is allowed on the diet just stay to clean cheese - no add ins. But...you will learn that many carnivores find weight loss stalls when dairy is involved. I personally use dairy as my treat meals 1-2 times a month. Specifically - many people feel better removing butter for tallow. Alcohol - Again, your choice. Many are against it, but I as an example enjoy it from once a week with a cigar. That said - you need to know that how your body processes alcohol is gonna change majorly! You are about to become an ultimate lightweight and if you push it ... you wont remember your night. Pooping - The fun topic. For the first 10 days up to 21 days typically...expect some diarrhea. Joe Rogan famously called it rocketing diarrhea - I found it was just often but never and emergency "OMFG I'm gonna shit my pants!" situation. My daughter transitioned while going to high school and never had an issue. Once you acclimate, it is very normal to only go 1-2 times a week. That is because your body isn't wasting anything. As you get acclimated - if you have diarrhea you can throttle back some fat - just balance it with your energy. Trial and Error/Adjustments - OK I have mentioned a few times that you will tinker with this diet for how it fits you. That is true, but that comes after the acclimation period which is usually 30 days. After that... you can kind of play with it. When you do its best to test something for 2-3 weeks by making small changes - if you make changes daily...you wont know what to associate the good/bad change too. Listen to your body it's a walking miracle of biochemistry. Ok I think that is a good list. Cheers and welcome to Carnivore! submitted by /u/Many-Goat-9737 to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

The Gorilla Diet: How We Can Fight Back Against Carnivore Nonsense
Listen up, fellow plant-powered humans. The "carnivore diet" crowd has been winning the meme war, and it's time we fight back with some primate-powered logic. The Lion Diet Myth These folks love to call their cholesterol-bombing meal plan the "lion diet," invoking images of predatory strength and masculine bravado. But let's get real: lions spend most of their time sleeping and have a lifespan of 10-14 years. Meanwhile, gorillas – the absolute units of the primate world – are plant-based powerhouses that: Live up to 50 years in the wild Maintain massive muscle mass Have incredible strength Consume a diet that's 97% plants Introducing: The Gorilla Diet Forget "lion diet." We're rebranding plant-based eating as the "gorilla diet" – a nutrition plan that: Builds real, functional strength Supports long-term health Doesn't require decimating your cardiovascular system Actually reflects how the most powerful primates eat Scientific studies consistently show that plant-based diets: Lower heart disease risk Reduce cancer incidence Support sustainable weight management Provide complete nutrition Sorry, carnivore bros. The science is in, and the gorillas are winning. submitted by /u/call-the-wizards to r/PlantBasedDiet [link] [comments]

Thoughts on carnivore diet?
This was my meal of the day. I’m trying out the carnivore diet (along with omad) for only 30 days. I know it’s not a healthy long term diet what so ever. But I constantly see people loosing a ton of weight very quickly on this diet. I did a very clean omad diet (while still listening to my body and it’s wants whether being a cookie or something not so healthy )for about 2 1/2 months starting in July and lost over 20 lbs. I’m 5’11 23F. My starting weight on omad was 157lbs and I got down to 131 within 2 months. (I’d like to be 122-125) but, since September, the last two months I got into a bad depression and did not follow any diet and started to binge and began to eat anything and everything every day until I felt sick. I’m now up to 140 which isn’t bad I know especially being as tall as I am. But I’d like to get back to 130 asap or even a bit lighter. I’m on day 3 of the carnivore diet and the bloating is definitely starting to go down. I dont really want to hop on the scale until day 7. Has anyone tried the carnivore diet and have success? Any tips? Don’t be to harsh in the comments I am fully aware that this is not considered the healthiest diet especially long term. But I’m going to give it a go for 30 days to see if I can drop pounds quickly like I’ve been seeing on the internet. submitted by /u/Academic-Buy-2685 to r/OmadDiet [link] [comments]

Boomer In Laws Visited
My in laws came to visit. It was really stressful. Some highlights: We went to a bookstore because it’s my MILs only hobby. She was so excited to look around. FIL refused to allow her to look around and waited outside, which resulted in her leaving the store due to being anxious while away from him. She loves hard copies and has a hard time seeing digital books. He told her she can only use Libby and she can no longer buy books. They are both retired and had careers, but he controls the money. His wife's only hobby is reading and her mind is failing. She might not have much longer to enjoy reading. Later, he revealed he donates $3 daily to the 2024 Trump campaign, which I guess is a higher priority than providing his wife with money for 1 book. He also bragged they make $12,000 monthly in interest from his stock investments on top of their retirement income. They bought their new Tucson house in cash, so they only have a car payment. FIL argued that you should not eat fruit because sugar is the root of all health problems. His wife's favorite foods are fruits. He says she is no longer allowed to eat fruits. Witnessed him shame her for wanting 1 piece of pineapple after having a slider sandwich and a handful of grapes. She has lost so much weight since being forced on the carnivore diet that he claims cured his diabetes. She was never overweight and had no health problems related to nutrition. She now weighs so little, that a strong breeze could push her over. She does have a failing heart, which her doctors said could get worse due to her losing so much weight. She also mentioned how hungry she is a lot during the visit. Before every meal she would say she was excited to eat food she didn’t normally get to have: chicken salad, croissants, grapes, bread, pineapple, pizza, etc. FIL also says immigrants are the root of all problems in the US. He wants all borders to be closed and anyone not born on US soil to be deported. His wife is Canadian and he has to periodically renew her visa. The irony is lost on him. Edit 1: As I have told the hundreds of other people who advised calling APS: We are considering all of our options. As an abuse survivor and someone who has protected other victims, I have had MANY interactions with CPS. Literally not one time did CPS help. If APS is like them, then it is not the best option and can possibly make things worse for her. Edit 2: My significant other is not a terrible son. He loves his mother. As someone who has no memory of childhood, he was probably abused as well. He was in shock initially and said there was nothing we could do. He woke up today and reached out to his brother to get a trip planned to talk to their mom. He is considering an anonymous report to APS in Arizona if his brother is unable to get his mom to commit to a visit. Edit 3: His mom has refused our initial efforts to help her. She says she is fine and doesn’t need help. That doesn’t mean we are not going to continue trying. Edit 4: We live in Colorado. His mom lives in Arizona. His brother lives in Washington. We hadn’t seen his mother for almost 1.5 years until this past weekend. The in-laws live in Arizona by themselves. His dad does not allow his mom to travel alone because of “memory issues”. We have no idea who her doctors are. We have literally had less than 24 hours to process the initial shock of the situation, let alone what decisions need to be made. Edit 5: She loves to read and I am going to start a monthly book club with her. Thanks to a commenter who gave me some long distance relationship building tips to get his mom to feel more comfortable talking to us. Due to his dad’s obvious issues with healthy communication and controlling behaviors, this family does not talk to each other. Hopefully, I can help build a relationship she can trust. Edit 6: For all the armchair experts who are up my ass about this. Adult Protective Services says she does not meet the qualifications for their help since she has not been officially diagnosed with any memory issues. For now, her sons are just going to check in on her more often to see if there are any patterns emerging that warrant further intervention. SIL is a doctor and while concerned about the abusive behavior from FIL, she says that FIL might just be uneducated about proper nutrition. She has sent them medical advice for MIL to get better nutrition. submitted by /u/yourcoloriwonder to r/BoomersBeingFools [link] [comments]

The Ultimate Guide to the Carnivore Diet
When I first tried the Carnivore Diet, I did it wrong. I jumped in without fully understanding how to make it work for me, which led to some challenges and I quit after 2 weeks. Now, after learning from my mistakes and seeing incredible results, I want to share a full guide on how I would start the Carnivore Diet if I were to do it again (also if you're on a budget). This took a few hours to write, but I appreciate all feedback, so I can make it even better! I want to share this with as many people because I'm overly grateful for what this diet has done for me. The Fuel Analogy Imagine you have a high-performance sports car. It’s sleek, powerful, and turns heads wherever you go. Everything under the hood is in perfect condition, just like how our bodies can be when properly fueled. But when it’s time to fill up the tank, would you use anything but the best fuel? Of course not! Yet, many of us have been filling our bodies with low-grade "fuel"—sugar, carbs, and processed junk, without realizing the impact. I've been there most of my life and I was suffering, but after switching to a proper human diet, my energy, focus, and overall health have never been better. Here’s what I wish I knew when I started: The Miracle of the Carnivore Diet Most people live in a state of constant, low-level pain and discomfort, thinking it’s normal. But it’s not. The truth is, many health issues stem from eating foods our bodies aren’t designed to handle, like sugar, processed foods, and most plants. When you eliminate these and fuel your body with what it’s meant to process—meat—you unlock your full potential. What You Can Expect: Enhanced Cognitive Function: Say goodbye to brain fog. Better mental health Hormonal Balance Whiter Teeth & Better Skin: Your body will thank you. Improved Gut Health: Efficient digestion without the bloat, no farting or gas Increased Energy: Endless stamina from ketosis. Disease Reversal: Chronic issues start to fade away. Also diabetes 2. How It Works It’s incredibly simple: Eat meat, salt, and water. Prioritize beef, lamb, eggs, and other ruminant meats. Most of your calories should come from fat—aim for a 70/30 fat-to-protein split in the beginning (50/50 by weight), then adjust as needed. Fat is the greatest source of energy. Avoid plants, sugar, artificial sweeteners, and minimize dairy. I know coffee is hard to quit, but it's better to go without it :) That’s it. Stick to this, and within a few weeks, you’ll start to see changes. BIG changes within a month for most people. Getting Started: Easing Into It If you’re new to this, don’t jump in 100% right away, especially if your diet is carb-heavy. Start by eating more meat and fewer carbs over a few weeks. This gradual transition helps prevent the "keto flu": those unpleasant symptoms of carb withdrawal. Eat lots of fat and electrolytes to mitigate this as well. Once you’re ready, go full carnivore. Commit to at least a month to see the real benefits. And remember, a 70/30 fat-to-protein ratio is a good starting point. As you progress, you can experiment with the ratios to see what works best for your body. Common Pitfalls and How to Avoid Them Dairy: Use it sparingly, if at all. Too much can mess with your digestion. Vitamin C: You need less than you think when you don't eat carbs. Look up GLUT4 transporter! Undereating: Listen to your body. Eat fatty meat until you’re full. Overeating: If you’re new to carnivore, your body might need more nutrients at first. Don’t stress. This will balance out. Consider adding organs to heal faster Cheat Days: Don't it's not worth it to ruin your progress. But if you slip up, it’s okay. Just get back on track. Cravings: you will have cravings the first 2 weeks, then they will go away forever. Stay hard the first 2! The Truth About Fiber, Cholesterol & nutrients Fiber: It’s overrated. Your body doesn’t need it, and too much can irritate your gut. Cholesterol: High cholesterol is not your enemy. It’s vital for hormone production, cellular structure, and overall health. Vitamins and nutrients: You can get all your nutrients from meat, no need to supplement. But you are probably deficient in the beginning so it's not a bad idea to add in organs which are rich in nutrients or even supplement. Salt, electrolytes and iodine are very good to supplement in the beginning when your body is transitioning. What Meat to Eat & Shopping on a Budget Best Choices: Beef, lamb, goat, and other ruminants. These are nutrient-dense and free from plant toxins. Good Alternatives: Chicken, pork, and fish. Still good, but not as nutrient-dense as ruminant meats. Here’s a sample shopping list that won’t break the bank: Brokie-Carnivore List 🍗 Beef Liver & other organs: Nutrient-dense and cheap. Ground Beef: Affordable and versatile. Pork: better than any plant. Eggs: The ultimate budget-friendly protein and complete nutrient profile! Chicken Thighs: Cheap but usually pretty low in fat. Keep the skin on because that's where the fat is. Add butter if needed. Butter: A great source of fat. Salt: Essential and basically free. Top Tier Carnivore 🥩 If you can spend more, here’s how to level up: Grass-Fed Ribeye and other fine cuts Pasture-Raised Eggs These items are more expensive but offer very good quality and taste. Meal Plan & Cooking Tips You don’t need a complicated meal plan. Just stock up on meats and cook them to your liking. Here are some cooking methods to keep things interesting: Grilling Roasting Pan-Searing Barbecuing Slow-Cooking For eggs: Scrambled Fried Boiled Omelette In Conclusion If you’re tired of feeling sluggish, dealing with constant health issues, or just want to see what your body is truly capable of, give the Carnivore Diet a try. It’s not just a diet; it’s a lifestyle that can radically transform your health and well-being, without emptying your wallet. It's saved my life and I want the best health to everyone who reads this! If you have anything to add or questions, drop them in the comments. I’ll also be posting more on my YouTube channel if anyone’s interested (@carnivore-Felix). Eat meat, take care, and have a great rest of your day! submitted by /u/FelixTheGreatOne to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

My wife won’t let me do the carnivore diet because she wants to eat family meals with myself and child. Any tips on how I can approach this?
I’ve been eating keto/carnivore off and on the last few years and she hates how differently we both eat. I want to do carnivore consistently now and until the day I die. submitted by /u/readitout to r/carnivorediet [link] [comments]

Help, partner wants to do carnivore diet!
Hi guys I could really do with some help. So my partner (omni) has recently decided he wants to do the carnivore diet. Now I've tolerated the usual omni diet because I love him, and I was slowly introducing him to vegan food/he usually eats what I cook and loves it. He mentioned a few times in the past about possibly going veggie in the future which I was obviously happy about because less suffering. But then the other day he says he wants to try carnivore diet (I think he's been listening to idiots on the internet). Please give me all information especially factual to get him to see it's nonsense. He loves the gym and I think this is health concern related. I've always tried to ensure high protein meals are made but I don't know what else to do! Many thanks in advance. Edit: he said he was watching liver King on YouTube.... I cannot ....even... brain cells declining Edit 2: thank you all for the advice, we're sitting down tonight to have a talk, really appreciate it submitted by /u/Higher_score to r/vegan [link] [comments]

Joe Rogan eats a bunch of junk food at Disney Land after having a "great month of no aches and pains - I felt amazing - two days of eating shit and my back&knee pain is back" - Then his interviewee, Lex Fridman, a research scientist at MIT, admits to doing the Carnivore Diet as well.

Lex: u/UltraMarathonMan " The Joe Rogan Effect - keto is now accepted because of you. I've been doing keto/low carb. One of the best ways to go Carnivore is to get quarter pounder beef patties at McDonalds. I eat about 2 pounds of meat a day. That's about 15 bucks. Joe: "You've been doing this carnivore thing too?" Lex: "Yup. Since Jordan Peterson. Before that I was keto." later: https://youtu.be/ZIcQwDkcaWk?t=4512 -> talking about eating cookies Lex: "That doesn't sound like the words of a man who's going to stick to the Carnivore Diet" Joe: "Oh, I'm gonna stick. In my life, being able to focus for long periods of time - That's why I do keto. Fasting. The focus." Joe: "THE FOCUS IS PRETTY TREMENDOUS.
