How often do you change your carpet cleaners dirty water tank?
Need to settle a debate with my spouse, how often do you empty the dirty water reservoir of your carpet cleaner? Specifically if you use it for pet urine removal. Thanks! submitted by /u/labondbond to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Best carpet cleaner to buy right now that's worth the money in 2026
Hello, I am currently looking for a carpet cleaner. I have 2 dogs and 1 cat, so my carpets get dirty easily. I am looking for something that's easy to use and works great. I know good carpet cleaners cost more so I'm willing to spend $300 - $450 if it's really worth it. Which carpet cleaner are you in love with? Thanks in advance for any tips! Update: I did some research and these are the most recommended carpet cleaners on reddit: Bissell Big Green Professional Rug Doctor Mighty Pro X3 Hoover SmartWash Automatic Bissell ProHeat 2X Pet Pro submitted by /u/SatrangiKela to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

What's the best carpet cleaner that's around affordable?
It's going to be used to clean pet stains like dog/cat pee, aswell as any feces stains as well, around $100-$200, but if there's a tried and tested one for less than $500 then that will maybe work, I would just have to save longer. submitted by /u/Sprocraft to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Sold a carpet cleaner this morning. The buyer messaged me 8 hours later asking for an immediate refund for more than what she paid. Because she claimed she spent 80 minutes cleaning the machine.
Okay guys this is not a joke. Craziest thing happened to me today. I sold a cheap fully operational carpet cleaner to this lady this morning. She shows up, I plug it in, showed her it worked. Eight hours later, I get a message from her, asking for a full refund, plus a $10 cleaning fee because she claims she spent 80 minutes cleaning it before she used it. The thing is, she was super rude about it too. Called me a scammer that sells junk. She made other rude remarks I don’t remember. I read her messages and was speechless. But I had to ask her, why in the world would you spend 80 minutes cleaning a cheap shampooer? I told her would take me less than an hour stripping the machine and cleaning every piece of electronic inside of it. She then asked me to immediately Zelle her the cost plus the cleaning fee. Lol I asked her, what about the machine itself? She said she would “dump the piece of junk in my driveway tomorrow.” Haha I’m not kidding you guys. My final reply before blocking her was basically telling her she’s crazy, if the cleaning time spent is true then she’s a clean freak that needs to see a therapist. I let her know she’s very rude, very entitled, and treats people like peasants while she shops on FMP. I later get a message from a different account, threatening me to call the cops. I told her please do. They would think you’re nuts just like I did and laugh at you. Blocked her again! submitted by /u/Organic-Fennel7347 to r/FacebookMarketplace [link] [comments]

Carpet Cleaner Recommendations
Wanting to invest in a good carpet cleaner instead of renting. I don’t want to just buy a $150/200 machine that works ok and only lasts a couple years. I’d rather pay more to buy a nice machine that cleans down to the carpet pad and lasts me longer. What are your experiences and thoughts on bissell big green? Differences in quality of professional model vs commercial? Any other recommendations are welcome too. **Big green is what I’ve seen a lot recommend as well as chat gpt. I did see a comment on a post from last year that someone has had issues with them leaking after a couple years. submitted by /u/Flat-Will3854 to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Best carpet cleaner that actually works (pets + stains)?
Tossed my old upright because it barely lifted anything. I need something reliable for apartment carpets with pet accidents, coffee/wine, and high-traffic grime. Budget up to $400 if it’s worth it. Must-haves: strong suction, easy to clean the brush/dirty tank (no gross buildup), decent edge cleaning, and a handheld tool for stairs/couch. I don’t want a subscription for solutions—generic formulas are fine. Bonus points for quick-dry and hoses that don’t leak. Upright vs. portable… what’s been the real MVP for you? Models to get or avoid? submitted by /u/Key_Promotion_5015 to r/CarpetCleaning [link] [comments]

Did I handle this fairly with my cleaner? Looking for advice.
Hi all, I’d really appreciate some feedback from folks who know more about cleaning expectations and pricing. I recently hired a cleaner I’ve used a few times in the past. She’s always done a great job, usually spending around 4+ hours and charging about $250 for a deep clean. I’ve always tipped her well because I appreciated the attention to detail. This time, I moved into a brand new home (2,498 sq ft) that had already been cleaned by property management. So it wasn’t dirty, it just needed detailed work like wiping vents, inside cabinets and drawers, light switches, outlets, bannisters, etc. I also told her not to worry about the upstairs carpet, since I planned to steam clean that myself. She quoted me $425 for a 7-hour deep clean. I honestly thought that was more than fair. I was happy to pay that if the work matched the price. But she was only there for 3 hours, and the results weren’t what I expected. Within a minute of walking in, I noticed the stair bannister hadn’t been dusted or wiped down. There was still visible grime on light switches and outlets, and some kitchen cabinets had sticky residue inside. When I brought this up, she said I was being completely unfair. I explained that I’m still willing to pay $250, plus the deposit, which is what she’s charged me in the past for more time and better quality, but I didn’t feel $425 was justified. She’s upset, but this was the least amount of time she’s ever spent cleaning for me, and the least quality clean. I’ve always paid without hesitation and tipped well. I wasn’t trying to be difficult, just felt the work didn’t match the agreement. I sent a total of $250 + $85 deposit 5 days ago. Was this a fair way to handle it? Would love thoughts from pros or anyone with similar experiences. Screenshots for more context submitted by /u/Full_Swan7288 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Why are carpet cleaner tanks so large if they aren't going to allow the space to actually get full?
Every carpet cleaner I've ever had or used has a massive used water tank on them, but the "full" line is always maybe 1/4 of the actual tank. Why. Like, the cleaning solution tank is the same size, but it can actually be filled up, if the point is to make less trips, why can't you actually fill the dirty water tank? Also, if possible, where can I get a carpet cleaner that will actually use the space it provides? Yes, I know, the cleaning water is gross, that's what happens when you live in a household of mechanics, and have pets. submitted by /u/Kedalilah to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

I used the wrong cleaner on my carpet, moving out in 40 days, what would you do?
Yes I am a dumbass. So far I’m considering dye, or trying to find an exact match of the carpet to cut out a patch. I’m going to steam clean the entire carpet upon moving out and hope that may lighten up the rest of the carpet anyway, but would love to hear what other options there might be. submitted by /u/KingNebyula to r/Apartmentliving [link] [comments]

Carpet Cleaner Recommendations! PLEASE‼️
I have been researching Bissell carpet cleaners ad NAUSEAM. There are so many back and forth opinions on “best of” pages and trial YouTube videos. To put it simply, I do not care about the bells and whistles— such as the clean shot features or fancy new models. I want the BEST at deep cleaning, especially animal stains & smells. One that performs as close to a professional cleaner as possible. $500 or less is what I’m willing to spend. I appreciate all your actual user opinions!!! Especially if you’re in a similar situation to my wife and I. For starters, I use my machine very regularly, so it gets some HEAVY use. My wife and I have two dogs, one older pup with mild incontinence and several cats!(we are big time rescue mamas🩵) So we’ve got all the normal animal situations going on….. x5 . 🤣 I currently have the Revolution Pet Pro 2x(purple). And although it’s never gotten deep enough for our needs/my liking, it was pretty good for about the first year and worked decent for the second. The suction was actually pretty solid! Then parts started breaking and falling apart. For ex: the handle trigger, the top wheel cover tray, a crack in the back portion that causes leaking when the water tray sits etc. (I don’t recommend this one to those in need of a machine who will use it regularly or for bigger jobs.) And yes, I do want another Bissell as I know they can be the best carpet cleaners in the game. (We use and love our little green machine for tiny messes) But I’m open to other brands! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE! Edit: if your recommendation is the big green machine, which one do you have- commercial or professional and does that really matter? submitted by /u/madisonridgeway to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Is my carpet cleaner pulling up the carpet padding, or just disgusting? Help!
I just bought a carpet cleaner for my apartment carpets. We’re planning on staying for a while and my dog has a bladder issue.. so I couldn’t take the smell anymore. I noticed that those black clumps were showing up after my passes all over the carpet, and I’m worried that I am somehow damaging and pulling up the carpet padding. Given the grey/black color to the clumps and the water, it seems unlikely to be dirt. My main question is am I sucking up the matting and should I continue? I don’t particularly care about damaging the padding, but I don’t want to create more issues either. Maybe there are better ways to clean really cheap carpets than something like this? Given our apartments management I’m sure this carpet and padding is the cheapest possible. As a side note, I did vacuum before using the cleaner, but with my roomba. I’m sure that doesn’t have the greatest suction power, so maybe the carpets are just disgusting. Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! submitted by /u/bris14 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

What you should expect from a professional carpet cleaner
TL;DR it hurts my heart seeing before and after pictures of carpet cleaning by “pros” who suck and give me a bad name. Below is what goes through my mind and is discussed when I’m doing what I do for a living. TL;DR Yesterday I saw a post someone had issues with “pros” cleaning their carpets with some awesome before, after and 24 hours later pics. I commented that nothing about the performance would seem them as professional in my opinion. Lo and behold I walk into my first stop today and it looks like a similar issue. I figured I could post my process here so you all don’t keep getting taken by these garbage companies. 1st pic - my client had work done and the worker tracked grease onto her carpet (new since covid). She tried to remove it with OTC spot cleaner. Half of that crap can bleach out your carpet (unlikely in this case because the fiber is polyester) most of it will leave a soapy residue. She said spots came back and she only used “clean water”. I tested the spots with clean water from the sink. Take a few drops, put it in the center of the spot and rub it with a gloved finger. If it cleans up, or soaps up, it’s a residue issue. Bonus points if you smell it and it smells like flowers r citrus. Sure enough it did “clean up” with just water. I informed the client of her options. Option 1 - I could treat the spots with a topical powdered defoamer and then treat the whole room and clean it as normal for my normal price but if any of the soap has gotten into the pad she may see some of the spots return in a few months. I could come back and do a deeper the of those at that time (which is more time consuming and more expensive) Option 2 - I could just do the expensive treatment on every spot and then I would happily guarantee the full removal of the spots and that should they return, I would come back for free and hit them again I recommended the first option, let’s see if we even need to spend all this time and her money on this. I’m going to try my best to fix it the first way without costing her too much money. I want happy clients that call me back, not ones I only clean for once. Pic 2 - I applied the powdered defoamer to each spot, worked it in. Pic 3 - I treated all the areas with my cleaning product. It’s called {redacted possibly breaks rule 1}. I don’t sell it but you can find it on Amazon. It’s green, odorless, residue free and works great. After I applied that I work the carpet with a matching commonly called a Counter Rotating Brush Machine, more specifically it’s called a {redacted possibly breaks rule 1}. Pic 4 - is the final pic after I cleaned the carpet using a truck mounted cleaning machine. I stretch in tubes and hoses not a rolling machine you can rent from the local hardware place. My rig is less than a year old and set me back $125,000. Notice the nice “V” pattern under the table? I brushed the carpet after I was done. This restores the fiber pile allowing it to dry evenly. So many goobers out there skip this simple step and leave these hard lines in the carpet. Hopefully this is not seen as self promotion, I just hated seeing what someone accepted as a good job when, to a trained eye, it was sub standard work at best. You all deserve better. And no, I’m not perfect, but I will be calling this client tomorrow to make sure those spots stayed gone and dried up nicely. If not, I will be back out there fixing the problem, not making excuses to not come back. submitted by /u/programedtobelieve to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

I’m a Pro-Carpet Cleaner Ask Me Anything
I clean for a company in Ohio (Not Stanley Steemer, though I respect the OG’s) We use a Truck Mounted System We run a two pressure nozzle Carpet Wond (350-800 PSI depending on surface/stains) We strictly spray freshwater through the lines, and a very strong Vacuum suction to strip the dirt and grime out from the carpets. We do a weekly wash of vans and clean/deodorize our dump tank and clean filters, this is completed on Saturdays. We use a pre-spray it contains a product Bio-Pro 10 helps breakdown organic matter in the carpets (free) Then a few recommendations: We have a Power-Scrubbing machine, useful for wear patterns/heavy stains to open up the fibers for a better clean (additional) Live Enzyme, helps to fight smells and works for 48 hours making its way through the carpets until it hits the padding. (additional) Scotch Guard (3M) a product the provides protection to the individual carpet fibers, creating a barrier between stains and the fibers we also rake this product into the carpet to insure an even coating of protection (additional) Questions? submitted by /u/No-Butterscotch-6171 to r/CleaningTips [link] [comments]

Are there actually any good consumer carpet cleaners available other than the Big Green Machine?
Some mishaps with my cats caused me to dive into this rabbit hole, and so far I've found that most, if not all, of the current consumer machines are hot garbage e-waste. Hoover: all machines from the Power Scrub to the SmartWash use steel screws, roller bearings, and roller shafts. These are all in contact with water and will rust. What kind of idiocy is this? Bissell: The ProHeat Revolution line looks great at first, but there are tons of complaints about insufficient suction and damp carpets. Some people have "fixed" this by adding a small weight to the front of the unit, which sometimes burns out the roller motor. The fact the suction can be fixed seems like either a design flaw, or the motor isn't strong enough and the suction simply needs to be closer to the medium. The other issue is the brush still spins even when the attachment is connected and the unit is stationary. They couldn't even include an attachment/brush lockout? Even on the $400 model? Give me a break. Shark: Probably the least reliable of the big 3. Just no. Tineco: The water tanks are half the size of competitors, or even less. Despite the expense, reviews are also highly mixed, with many machines breaking or even losing parts mid-use, low suction, leaving hair clumps despite pre-vacuuming, etc. Too risky, IMO. I rented a Rug Doctor Pro Deep over the weekend, and using that monstrosity was like being on a rowing machine the whole time. If the Big Green is anything like that, especially since it's heavier than the Pro Deep, I want no part of it. But why does it seem like there are no genuinely good midsize units? Why are they all made of of the finest Chinesium? Or am I just looking in the wrong place? For what it's worth, I own a Sebo Airbelt D4. I'm not saying "price is no object", but that should tell you how far I'm willing to go. submitted by /u/fullofbones to r/VacuumCleaners [link] [comments]

Buy a dog carpet cleaner!
So 4 months ago I decided to buy a $150 pet carpet cleaner. My boyfriend thought it was stupid because my dog doesn’t have accidents. I haven’t used it once. We’ll this week my dog got diarrhea. My gosh. Poop was everywhere! I work nights and I work 10 hour shifts. So during the day while im sleeping I got woken up at least 6 times because she had to poop and since I live in an apartment each time I had to get dressed. Even though I took her on all those walks I woke up to about 11 diarrhea spots. Cleaned those up the best I could with my 5 minutes before work and left. I put her in her cage but when I got home after work she escaped and crapped everywhere. Today I used the carpet cleaner and wow. Its amazing. Took me like 4 hours to do my whole carpet twice but it looks so good and it smells like soap! Yes I did sniff the carpet in spots to make sure. Everyone with a dog should have one! You never know when they might get explosive diarrhea:/ submitted by /u/Kindly-Visual-8116 to r/dogs [link] [comments]
