We used to buy bottles pre-cruise, but they’ve increased them so much that we’ve stopped…   As an example: - in 2019, $43.75 for a bottle of tequila.  - in 2024, $82.60 for a bottle of rum and three cans of Coke (getting pricey).   Now: $236 to $259!    Sorry - that’s insane. I’ll keep my money.

On Bishop, I realized his name has dual meaning, chess and the Catholic church and that the ending is a literal take on thoughts and prayers and that the placement of coke bottles was intentional. On Bishop: The chess bishop moves diagonally and controls from a distance, and that's exactly what he does. He doesn't shoot Alamo himself. He removes the bullets and steps aside, letting Ali do the work. He also prevents Kidd from shooting Ali, making it a collective withdrawal of loyalty, not just one man's decision. He controls the whole board, not just one piece. The Catholic bishop as moral overseer, his parting words to Ali, "May God have mercy," are essentially a priestly benediction over the execution. He doesn't celebrate the kill. He blesses it. He acts as a moral arbiter deciding Alamo's fate, then invokes divine authority on his way out the door. The episode is even titled "In God We Trust" and Bishop is the one who enacts that judgment. He's not a henchman who turned. He's a bishop who presided, and then moved diagonally off the board. On thoughts and prayers: So the season ends with a literal prayer, an American flag, and a dead girl. "In God We Trust" is the episode title, which is also printed on American currency , and the final frame is a flag over a house where someone just said grace for a young woman who died of a fentanyl overdose. That sequence, prayer, flag, dead from the drug crisis is a direct indictment of "thoughts and prayers" as America's response to addiction and the opioid epidemic specifically. The flag doesn't comfort. The grace doesn't resurrect her. Ali's prayer is genuine and devastating precisely because it changes nothing. And finally on coke bottles: Alamo pours two glasses of Coca-Cola before handing Rue the fentanyl that kills her. Coca-Cola's original formula contained cocaine. Why does Coca Cola not release Diet Coke in Plastic bottles as well? Many people who can't finish a can while prefer it, there won't be incidents of diet coke shortage like the current one, cheaper for them to produce and it will be cheaper for the consumer as well.
