RE:Skin rash
I took my LO in for a very similar looking rash today, was told it’s eczema, to lotion after bath and use Aquaphor and hydrocortisone cream if it’s bad. It went from behind her knees all the way up to her diaper and down to her ankles in the last two weeks. Looks terrible in the bath and if she’s warm.

MIL used paint instead of diaper cream
I can’t believe this happened, I am still in shock. Typing this while my son is napping on me. Yes, I already called poison control and they said to just wash it off thoroughly and monitor for rashes. MIL is helping me with caring for my 18mo because I just had knee surgery (for the 3rd time). This morning, she offered to change his diaper and I said yes so I could get some chores done. About an hour later, my son got sticky playing with jam so I took him to the shower to rinse him off. That’s when I saw a weird substance all around his diaper area. I immediately rinsed it off thoroughly. I asked her what she had put on him, and she said she used the diaper cream from a small blue container. It was sample paint. English is not her first language but come on. It smells like paint when opened and is clearly paint. It says paint on the container… I just don’t know what to think. I don’t know how to react. I have just been focusing on my kid since then and I don’t know if I can even speak to her. I’m in shock. Edit: Thank you to everyone for their input. She definitely did not do it on purpose and it was an honest mistake. MIL is not a native English speaker but is proficient enough to be employed in healthcare here. I just mentioned the second language part because maybe that’s why the word “paint” didn’t raise any alarms for her at a glance. The paint can was in the closet of the room where his changing table is. I would let him hold it and look at it while I changed him sometimes because he was enamored by it, and it would prevent him from flipping and alligatoring while I changed him. Which is why it was even in the vicinity. I just didn’t foresee this happening, and it was irresponsible on my end. I am angry at myself for letting this happen. Initially I was shocked at the situation, as you can see in my verbiage on the post. Thanks again for reading. Edit #2: First off, this mishap was entirely my fault. Second, I definitely overreacted. I apologized to MIL for my mistake and we went on with our day. Thank you everyone for your inputs. submitted by /u/just_another_ag to r/toddlers [link] [comments]

Help me get rid of diaper rash - I’ve tried everything [BC]
My baby turns 6 months tomorrow and has had a diaper rash his entire life. I’ve seen a pediatrician every 2-3 weeks since he was born to try new strategies. I have never been able to get rid of it and I’ve tried everything. I’m looking for any new ideas. Here’s what I’ve tried: - Diapers: every brand. We change every 1-2 hours. - Wipes: every brand. We now exclusively wipe with a washcloth and warm water. - Barrier cream: every brand. I’ve even driven to Washington to try a few brands only available in the US. I’ve also tried a wound dressing, Vaseline, lanolin, natural creams, etc. - Diaper free time: hours every day. - Ensuring butt is dry after every change: hair dryer on cool setting. - Anti fungal creams: Nistatin and Clotrimazole. - Steroid cream: 1% Hydrocortisone. - Antibiotics when the rash became bacterial. I am completely out of ideas. It was 99% gone last week when I did a 14-day round of Hydrocortisone, because the latest theory was that it was eczema and not diaper rash. I stopped and 2 days later it’s back. Please help me!! submitted by /u/Hour-Force-3901 to r/BabyBumpsCanada [link] [comments]

Zinc Diaper Cream before after
The product I decided on was Badger Diaper Rash Cream. I had read on this subreddit peoples experience with zinc oxide and decided to give zinc a try! 10 year, type 2 Rosacea sufferer here with redness, flares, papules and pustules. I was having an extreme issue with what I think was a damaged skin barrier on top of the existing rosacea. This cream helped me in one night. I hope this can help someone else as well! Active Diaper Cream Ingredient: USP Zinc Oxide 10% Other Ingredients: Organic Sunflower Oil, Organic Beeswax, Organic Calendula Extract & Sunflower Vitamin E Smell: Very faint earthy shea butter smell. I'm sensitive to smells and it's honestly barely there. Consistency: Thick but can be rubbed in easily. White cast: No. But I am fair skin. The cream does soak in nicely so I don't think it'd be an issue. Moisturizing: Yes! I haven't been using a stand alone moisturizer, just this. The first ingredient is sunflower oil. from Google: "Sunflower oil is considered non-comedogenic, with a low comedogenic rating of 0–1, meaning it is unlikely to clog pores or cause acne. Rich in linoleic acid, it is lightweight, absorbs quickly, and helps strengthen the skin barrier, making it suitable for most skin types, including dry, oily, and acne-prone skin." My routine: Morning and Night: wash face, no toner and apply diaper cream to cheeks, nose, chin and under chin by sides of neck. I sometimes use it on my forehead. I may start using toner again because I honestly miss it! I do wear concealer over the cream and it goes on just fine. I blend with a makeup brush. submitted by /u/icedcoffee82 to r/Rosacea [link] [comments]

Any other current/former cake decorators struggle with the advice to "apply it thicker than you'd frost a cake" when it comes to diaper cream?
Good news is my son has never had a diaper rash. Bad news is I spent like $100s on diaper cream before realizing I was going crazy overboard with the amount to use. So I knew that for overnights its good to use diaper cream preventatively once they're out of the super newborn phase and sleeping longer stretches. I also have a kid who doesn't seem to mind poopy butt so we couldn't guarantee he'd let us know if there's an issue. So yeah, got some butt paste and looked up how to use it and kept seeing the phrase "thicker than you'd frost a cake" and I'm like damn, that seems like a lot but okay. I kept not understanding why we had to go that hard since 90% of ended up on the diaper but whatever. Fast forward, I'm at the pediatrician for a skin issue and diaper cream comes up. It's eczema, his diaper area isn't affected but she wanted to make sure we were using it since it's clear LO has sensitive skin. I got yep, using it, but hey I have a question about how much. There's some back and forth and she says the phrase "you know, thicker than you'd frost a cake" and I go okay, but I'm going through like 1/3 of a tube everytime I do that. She asks "what like a little tube?" And I go no, and pull out the big 4oz tube. She asks me to show her how much I'm using on the back of my hand so I get the spatula, plop out some cream, and lay on a big thick idk, 3/8" layer? Normally I'd shoot for 1/4" if frosting a cake. Her eyes were SO wide. She then proceeded to show me what looked like maybe 1/8" thick, a little less. Oh. That makes a lot more sense. So yeah - if you have professional experience frosting cakes, ignore that advice. You're looking at "thicker than a crumb coat" amount. I don't know what sort of cakes people are frosting or how it was universally understood what amount it meant but now you know. submitted by /u/mapotoful to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

How do you clean poo when avoiding wipes? Toddler has mild diarrhea which has cascaded into diaper rash, and the wipes are HURTING her, but she's frequently poopy so I need to use wipes.
General diaper rash advice I'm reading is to avoid wipes, in addition to more frequent diaper changes and more cream. She's sharting every about ~2 hours so we're doing the latter two, but she cries and cries whenever I use the wipes.... which I have to because she's poopy. I don't understand how I'm supposed to get the poop off if I can't use wipes. submitted by /u/evange to r/beyondthebump [link] [comments]

Yall be careful with using diaper rash cream, my face is the Sahara rn [PSA]
Long story short I damaged the moisture barrier under my eyes from wiping them with my sleeve while crying, so I’ve had to change my whole routine to exclude all actives and focus on barrier repair. In my research and in the comments on my first post asking for help, many people said diaper rash cream is a great occlusive and will protect my damaged skin from more outside irritants, it was actually the most upvoted comment on my post. So I tried it out along with physical zinc sunscreen for the day since my normal one stings now. Slugging with Aquaphor/Cerave Healing Ointment gives me milia which I wanted to avoid. Today I woke up with super tight, shiny, even drier than before skin with huge orange peel pores, only in the areas I applied the cream. Even in all my years on Tret and Tazarotene I’ve never experienced anything like this. I knew zinc kept moisture/irritants OUT but i didn’t think it also was going to draw all the water out of my skin and basically render all my moisturizing useless. So now I’m going back to good ol Aquaphor/Cerave Healing Ointment and praying my skin eventually forgives me for my sins. I wanted to make a post because sooo many posts I saw swore by it!! And based on the recommendations from on my original post I thought it would be my savior. But maybe do a patch test first before you end up like me and ruin your barrier even more. My first undereye fine line popped up literally overnight the day after I messed up my barrier, and now it feels like if I dareeee smile my undereye skin is just gonna crack in half 😭 Also side note but I need very gentle, zinc-free, alcohol-free sunscreen recs. My usual is HaruHaru Wonder Black Rice Moisture Airyfit Daily SPF 50 but it does sting my skin a bit now at this point even though it’s also zinc and alcohol free. But if anyone has found a great sunscreen for going through barrier repair please let me know! Also recommendations for very gentle acid-free hydrating serums/toners/etc. Edit: I can’t reply to comments for some reason but I did not use this as a moisturizer. I used it on top of multiple layers of moisturizer as an occlusive. It still demolished my skin barrier even more 😭 submitted by /u/Dear_Inflation7319 to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]

If a baby has severe diaper rash and has diaper cream on, do you wipe off all the cream every diaper change and put fresh cream on?
I should know this. But I don't. I am an infant teacher and recently we had a baby with the WORST diaper rash I've ever seen. Bleeding and so raw. Everytime I would wipe her she would cry so much and blood would be on the wipe. Should I just wipe a little bit to get only the pee and lather on more diaper cream on top of the old stuff? Or wipe of all the old diaper cream before putting more on? Ah I feel so dumb for not knowing this and I'm too afraid to ask anyone at my job because I should know this. (This obviously does not apply to a BM diaper) Edit: Thank you SO much for all the suggestions. I will definitely be taking these and talking to her mom. Husband calls me abusive & bad mother for taking care of diaper rash? New first time mom
I am a first time mom with a 24 day old baby. My baby has a diaper rash and I have been pretty worried / alarmed by it. I’ve gone down rabbit holes and asking people around on how to treat the rash. Ultimately, what I am doing is: using reusable wipes instead of “water” wipes for his diaper cleanings and making sure his butt is completely dry before I apply the creams and diaper. This involves me warming some water by the sink and then waiting a few minutes for my babies butt to try. I’m using a little portable fan to dry his butt to try and make this process all go by faster. However the whole diaper change is taking me probably 8-10 min. My baby cries the entire time. My husband last diaper change, completely blew up on me. He said I’m abusing my son by allowing him to cry for so long. He yelled at me and said I’m a terrible mother and that I am selfish for thinking that it is ok to let our son cry for so long. That my judgement is clouded. I thought I was doing good by our baby boy even tho he is crying a lot… Can someone please level set with me. Is it abusive of me to let a baby cry for 8-10 min straight and is it causing trauma to the baby? My husband says it’s better to have a diaper rash than cause trauma on our son. I am an open minded person, I really would like your input. Maybe he is right? I really didn’t think I was hurting our son, or at least my intention is not to hurt him. I simply wanted to treat the diaper rash. Also, can you share if at the lowest point during the newborn phase, has your partner ever said anything as hurtful as that? I feel it is verbal abuse to an extent to continuously say “you’re a horrible mother” “you’re selfish” etc. my husband is sleep deprived but even at my lowest points, I haven’t said that to him… submitted by /u/Even-Magician9416 to r/Mommit [link] [comments]

Our Diaper Rash Miracle
I saw a few posts this week from parents struggling with diaper rash, and I wanted to share what worked for my family because it was a GAME CHANGER and I’ve never seen it discussed anywhere. Around 4 weeks old my kid got absolutely horrible diaper rash. Like her buttcheeks were chapped and raw it was so awful. It came with a yeast infection that required a prescription (please look up what a yeast rash looks like cuz sometimes that’s the only answer you’ll need), but even when we cleared up the yeast the rash and damage from the rash was so bad it didn’t solve the problem. My mom, thank god, is a 40 year NICU nurse. She gave me the tools that cleared this rash up in a week and have stopped any future rashes right in their tracks. And now I pass along this golden advice to you: 1) Desitin stings babies sometimes. If you notice your baby crying when using, stop using it. You want something with 40% Zinc Oxide during the rash, we used max strength Butt Paste but there’s a few options. 2) At the first sign of a rash, stop using wipes and switch to soft, clean cloths and water. If you can, just rinse poops off directly in the sink to minimize wiping as much as possible. 3) THIS IS THE HIDDEN SECRET OF THE NICU: Vashe Wash. Squirt that miracle fluid on the rash every single diaper change. Be liberal with its application. Mom said you could dab it off after or just leave it, we always left it and it worked a treat. 3) Stroller fan to dry them off before putting cream on (or any small handheld fan will do). They’ll probably pee from the cold air so make sure you have a cloth or diaper under them when you do this lol but it’s critical they’re dry before applying cream and this again limits wiping/dabbing. In terms of actual diapers, avoid anything scented if you can and diapers with multiple liners like Pampers as they tend to stick to the skin when wet (that being said, some babies will only tolerate Pampers so I’m not trying to demonize any one brand here. Basically, whatever you’ve tried lined or unlined, do the opposite). I hope this advice helps out another family as much as it’s helped ours! And hey, if anyone has any tips they want to add feel free to, let’s make a master list of diaper rash advice haha. submitted by /u/apocalyptic_tea to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

I've made a bad thing much worse
This is so embarrassing but im hoping my fellow vagina havers/experts might have some advice. About a week ago, I noticed a slight itchy, redness along my panty-line/groin area. At first googling I thought maybe it was jock itch? It didnt really look like jock itch but it was only along my panty line and now where else. So I stupidly tried jock itch cream, which it just angered it and the next day it started spreading to my outer labia. I immediately stopped that and just tried to calm and protect it with zinc cream/diaper rash cream. Which angered it even more to the point I thought I had a full on YI. The discomfort lead me down a dark path and yesterday I became the latest victim of monistat 1 (i wish i had come here first). An hour after using it I started swelling and burning down there so bad i was in tears. I showered and douched with distilled water and took an antihistamine, which helped. The reaction has thankfully calmed down but the original rash in the groin and outer labia is still just as angry as ever and the zinc cream just seems to make the rash itch and burn even worse. I've stopped all creams but I'm so uncomfortable. I just need some relief! I recently moved and haven't established care with a new doc in my new state and I'm dying! Any other creams/ointments that might help? tldr: Rash gets worse with zinc and antifungal creams how can I get some relief? submitted by /u/Usual-Parfait-1829 to r/Healthyhooha [link] [comments]

I’m at the end of my rope with diaper rash. Help.
My 6 week old has basically had a bad diaper rash for 5 weeks of his life. Three doctors have told me three different things: An online chat doctor through his insurance said to apply a thick layer of some type of zinc paste like Destin or Boudreaux. The ER doctor (we were there for a different reason, unrelated to the diaper rash) said to only put Vaseline on it. His pediatrician told me not to put anything on it and let him air dry as much as possible. he also said it was not a yeast infection which I thought it might be since nothing is helping. None of this helps. Diaper changes are awful and he always cries through them. We aren’t using anything but warm water to clean him and try to get him as dry as possible before putting another diaper on. I’m doing as much diaper free time as possible. Boudreau makes him worse, Destin did nothing, A&D worked for a little while but now all it does is make him bleed. What the fuck do I do? What has helped with your babies? My son is so miserable and sometimes I cry with him because I know it probably hurts so bad. Please, please help my kid. Edit: Thank you all so so so much for all your advice! Hopefully this little guy’s bum will feel better soon. We are going to switch off Pampers diapers and try a bunch of your suggestions. UPDATE: Hi all, we switched to Huggies and started applying a really thick layer of Triple Cream mixed with Aqiphor after blow drying his bum on cool. We are still just using water to wash him and not using any wipes. I really did not expect such quick results but his rash had significantly improved OVERNIGHT! He hasn’t cried during diaper changes at all and slept so well last night!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your wonderful suggestions and support/encouragement. I truly love this community :) submitted by /u/my_dear_director to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

Diaper Rash Cream on face? 🧴🤔 ✨️RESULTS AFTER 2 DAYS!✨️
If you're on skincare TikTok you may have seen the "Diaper Rash Cream Face Basting" hack that was posted by an aesthetician/Dermatologist (I forget which). She claims it helps with facial inflamation/acne due to the zinc that is found in most diaper creams (i will post her tiktok link below). Well I was desperate enough to try it because the redness on my skin has been really upsetting me. I tried it for about 5 days altogether and have to say the first 2 days were AMAZING and I will be using this again when I need it.I used the "Healed by the Ocean" eczema cream underneath which I applied first on damp skin, then a layer of the "Hypoallergenic Aquaphor Diaper Rash Cream" (the one that comes in a purple box). For me personally it began to dry me out after day 3ish so I would definitely reccomend using moisturizer underneath ESPECIALLY if you have dry skin like me. 🌵🏜🐫 I did use it again last night over top of several other products in place of an "occlusive" such as aquaphor (something that basically creates a barrier so your skin care underneath stays put and does its job). I woke up with pretty smooth and hydrated skin this morning! 😀 It was still red but I just bought my first toner so I'm going to be trying that out underneath my moisturizer and serums tonight with the diaper rash cream on top since i have a full tube and it seems to be doing positive things for my skin. ❤️ If the redness still doesn't go away I think im going to try some other zinc products because WOW. ✨️🤩 ⬇️(The Dermatologist who recommended this)⬇️ https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRTdYqXF/ submitted by /u/Helenabriar to r/SkincareAddicts [link] [comments]

So I’ve been seeing diaper rash creme going viral because of the zinc oxide.

Diaper Rash cream!
I’ve been struggling with redness, burning and sensitivity and getting so frustrating at nothing helping. I tried some of my sons diaper cream on my face because I’ve read here that the zinc helps. Well, yesssss. Finally something that is helping! Within a matter of a day. So relieved and happy. I wanted to share so maybe others can give it a try. 🙌🏼🙌🏼 submitted by /u/Sad-Elk-7291 to r/Rosacea [link] [comments]

Is letting a child suffer through a diaper rash considered child abuse?
There’s a new teacher that just started working at my center a week ago, she also has a 1 year old daughter that is in my classroom. Today her daughter came in with a very bad diaper rash that Mom told us was just from teething. Mom has no cream to put on it so I just have to put Vaseline on it. The rash got worse throughout the day and you could tell the child was in pain when I would change her diaper. I told Mom this at pickup, Mom just shrugged and said “she’ll get through it”. She then proceeded to say to her child “I heard your rash got worse, sucks for you!” What am I supposed to do about this?? Is it considered child abuse? Should I tell my CD and show her the rash? submitted by /u/HeatherMae_ to r/ECEProfessionals [link] [comments]

Does anyone else use diaper rash cream on their face?
I used this in the desperate moments of a seasonal allergy outbreak And it magically cleared my skin! I put a thick layer on, tissued it off after about 15 minutes and applied makeup as normal. My makeup sat perfectly for the rest of the day and seemed more toned than usual. What's the deal here?! It was "extra strength" at 40% zinc oxide. What are the risks/benefits/other things I should keep in mind? Thanks guys! submitted by /u/mannequinskywalker02 to r/SkincareAddiction [link] [comments]
