Why is Diapers Size 5 trending?

1
Suitable for Older Babies and Toddlers
Diapers size 5 are popular because they are specifically designed for older babies and toddlers who have outgrown smaller diaper sizes. These diapers provide a better fit and more comfort for active and mobile babies.
2
Increased Absorbency
Diapers size 5 are known for their increased absorbency compared to smaller sizes. This is important for older babies who may have heavier wetting or overnight needs. The higher absorbency helps prevent leaks and keeps the baby dry for longer periods.
3
Longer Usage
Diapers size 5 are popular among parents because they can be used for a longer duration compared to smaller sizes. As babies grow, they require larger diapers, and size 5 offers a good balance between size and capacity, reducing the need for frequent size changes.
4
Cost-Effective
Choosing diapers size 5 can be cost-effective for parents. Since these diapers can be used for a longer period, parents need to buy fewer diaper packs overall. This can result in savings in the long run, making size 5 a popular choice for budget-conscious parents.
5
Availability and Variety
As diapers size 5 have gained popularity, many diaper brands have expanded their product lines to include a wide range of options in this size. This availability and variety make it easier for parents to find the right fit, style, and features that suit their baby's needs.

coterie diaper sizing / looking for a clean good quality night time diaper!
anyone having issues with coterie diapers? it works well with my first, but with my second who is ~14 lbs, based on coterie's measurements, we would need a size 2 or maybe a size 3 diaper. no matter which size or what we do (fold the top, make sure the bottom flaps are out, tape it diagonal and not straight across, etc.), the diapers leak up back or by the thigh! coterie sent us size 3 PANTS to try which didnt consistently work either. then they even suggested trying SIZE 4 or SIZE 5 diaper?! my oldest is a size 5 diaper. no WAY the baby is a size 4 or 5. that's insane and i can't believe they would suggest that. what other alternatives have worked for you? really looking for a clean good quality night time diaper! submitted by /u/HeavyChocolate0 to r/moderatelygranolamoms [link] [comments]

In same size diaper for a year
Is this normal? I was looking back on my photo memories and my newly two year old is in the same size of diapers he was in at 13 months old. He’s a pretty slender little guy at 28-29 pounds but he’s 90th % in height. We don’t seem to have any problem with his current diapers (size 5) and he’s in the weight range for them, but I just think it’s weird that he’s been in the same size for a year now! Need Diaper Recs for 5-Month-Old Peeing Through Diapers
Title pretty much sums it up. We've been using Target up&up diapers since our 5-month-old was born but have been really disappointed with the quality. She pees through them nightly (and sometimes through fresh diapers during nap time) and poop tends to seep up her back regularly. Our friends all use up&up, so, I turn to you, parents of Reddit, for diaper recommendations to try. Thank you and I appreciate your help! Edit: We've tried sizing up (the 4 is massive on her) and double diapering. submitted by /u/writingfoodie to r/Parenting [link] [comments]

Please help me with diaper sizing
I am seriously at a loss. My 12 week old girl is peeing/pooping out of her diaper at least once or twice per night and then usually a couple times in the morning. She soaks through her pajamas and sleepsack and sometime even onto the sheets. Bedtime is around 8, so leaks happen all three of her wakeups (on a good night) at 11:30, 3:00, and then 6:00. Having to change her diaper and whole outfit and sleepsack in the middle of winter is really keeping us all awake. She is a really long baby (95th percentile for height) and is about 12-12.5 lbs so we already have her in size 3 because size two just doesnt fit anymore. What do I do? Will overnight diapers work or should I size up again? We are currently using Honest because I like how soft they are, but have used Huggies (leaks were worse) and Millie Moon (gave her a rash). What brands are better for long babies? Help! Edit: Thank you everyone for the helpful advice! I think a) I might not be pulling up the diaper on the front and putting the diaper tabs low enough, and b) might need to try pampers swaddlers per everyones recs for long and skinny babes. I really don’t think the diaper is too big in my case, but we will try another brand and see what happens! submitted by /u/julesybug to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

Diaper sizing
Are we just throwing diaper sizing out the window? I have a 23 lb 9 month old who has consistently been 85-90th percentile for weight and around 40th for height. He is a solid little guy. Depending on the brand he’s either in size 4 (Huggies/Kirkland) or size 5 diapers (Millie Moon/Parasol). My friends are acting like I’m insane for putting him in size 5s because their skinny toddlers potty trained before outgrowing size 4. But I swear the Millie Moons run narrow in the waist! Am I doing this wrong? Or are the weight ranges just really arbitrary? submitted by /u/LeesieLa to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

How long were you in each size of diapers?
My son is a 90th percentile baby for weight and height. He’s 2.5 months and we have had a couple blowouts this week in his size 2 diapers. Once we finish this box (about 3 days left in it) we plan to try size 3. I truly can’t wrap my head around him possibly being in size 3 though! He’s just cruised right through size 1 and 2! I’ve been scared to buy bulk boxes because he just seems to jump to the next size so quick. We’ve got to slow down eventually right?!?!? How long were your babies in each size of diaper? I’d love to be able to buy a Costco size box of Huggies and not be scared or not using it all! Edit: welp we just had another size 2 blowout. 5 month old baby in size 6 diapers…am I doing something wrong?
Hi my 5 month old baby just moved to size 6 diapers. I’m using pampers swaddlers. I’m worried bc they only go to size 8 and she’s only 5 months. Am I doing something wrong? I pull the tabs so they meet in the middle and 2 fingers can go under them. Is this technique correct? She’s 50 percentile weight and 70 percentile length. She weighs 15lb. She was leaking a lot of pee in size 5 so that’s why I moved up recently. No leaks in size 6 yet. Thanks! Edit: Wow thank you all so much. I know many people suggested size 3 which is where her weight range is based on the weight chart. However when we had her in size 3 a month ago she blew out poop almost every day. Should I try size 4? Last time she was in size 4 they started looking too tight to me but maybe I’ll give them another try. Size 5 leaks pee through leg during day and up back at night. Another edit: I know people are saying not to put tabs too far in middle. However when she was wearing a size 3 I played around and did tabs tight and loose and no matter what I did she blew out. submitted by /u/Lilac-Lover4 to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

Diaper sizes
Our baby is 10 months and 18lbs. I think that puts him squarely into size 3 diapers. My wife insists that he should be in size 5, and we sort of compromise and sort of argue settling on size 4. They look huge on him but my wife thinks they’re too small. Who’s right? Edit: out baby is completely normal-sized for his age in every respect. Hes maybe a smidge small. submitted by /u/PersonalBusiness2023 to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

Should I put my 17 years old dog to sleep?
I have a 17-year-old little dog named Lila. She’s already in her senior years. Over the last two years, her health has deteriorated quite a bit. She can’t hear, which I don’t think is the main problem. But she has an issue with her hip and spine. The vet said that there will come a time when her vertebrae will fuse together, and it can’t be fixed with surgery. She had a mass on her neck that was hanging, and it had to be removed surgically because it had gotten too big. But now she has masses all over her body, about the size of a bean, though there’s one next to her tail that has grown more, about the size of a lemon, but it can’t be removed because, due to her advanced age, anesthesia could kill her. There are days when she walks with difficulty and doesn’t want to move. On other days, she moves normally but only for short periods of time. We also found out she has dementia, and sometimes she gets scared when we go to pick her up or she seems disoriented at night, crying or drinking too much water. The problem I consider the main one is bladder control and the strict hygiene it requires. She has to wear a diaper because otherwise, the whole house ends up full of urine, and even though we take her out 5 or 6 times a day, her bed still ends up peed on or with poop. Because of the constant diaper use, she developed a sore on her leg that heals but reopens sometimes since she always has the diaper on. We change about 3 or 4 diapers a day. Sometimes when we change her diaper, she cries because the movement hurts, and that’s even though we try to be careful. Sometimes she only pees, but when she poops, we have to clean her with wipes and everything, but a few days ago she got a burn from having poop on her for a while when we weren’t home. We’re thinking about whether or not to put her to sleep… The vet gets upset every time I ask if it’s time yet, because there are days when she’s splayed out and ends up in unnatural positions, while other days she’s fine. The vet does prescribe very expensive medication for pain and her joints, which I have no problem paying for, but I don’t want to prolong her suffering. I feel like it’s already time, but my brother disagrees and says I just don’t want to take care of her, but I don’t want to wait until she’s in a terrible state to make the decision. Has anyone gone through a similar situation who can advise me? How long can I wait? I appreciate your comments. submitted by /u/Status_Relief_6812 to r/DogAdvice [link] [comments]

Explain like I am 5 how to diaper my baby
I am a FTM and I gave birth last week. In the hospital, I diapered my baby no problem. Ever since coming home, I have been unable to properly diaper him. I am using the same diapers as in the hospital. I am sliding the side that says back underneath him. I am making sure his urine fountain (aka penis) is pointed downward. I am making sure I tuck the top of the diaper in (his umbilical cord is still on). I am making sure the gussets are out. Still, without fail, he pees and it soaks his clothes and swaddle. He poops and it's 50/50 on if it holds. I am wondering if maybe I'm not doing it tight enough? But sometimes I take off the diaper and I can see lines on his chunky hips. But maybe that's ok? I tried watching YouTube videos but they rarely have a live baby losing its mind. I really need to perfect this because he wakes up each time he pees at night and my god I need sleep. Side note: does anyone use diaper rash cream each change? I am wondering if that may make diaper time less traumatic for him as he squirms most of the time. Edit to add: I've tried pampers, coterie, kudos, and parents choice. All sizes that include 8 lbs. I just but on a Millie moon size 2. Send good vibes y'all. Update: Millie moon size two survived with no leaks!! Thanks all! submitted by /u/Fantastic_Fig_2025 to r/beyondthebump [link] [comments]

How often did your babies size up in diapers?
I hadn’t thought about it until recently, but my baby seems to be sizing up pretty rapidly. We didn’t have a huge stash of diapers from the beginning, just cause you never know. And it’s a good thing we didn’t because most of it would have gone to waste/had to be donated. He was in NB diapers for maybe a couple of weeks, then in size 1 for a few weeks. Size 2 for a few weeks. Then at about 3 months up to a size 3, and now at 4.5 months it looks like next shopping trip we’re gonna have to get some size 4s. At his 4 month checkup he was 17lbs 2oz and 26inches long. So he’s on the bigger side, but not MASSIVE. He is a little “bottom heavy” and has pretty thick thighs, though, so that’s probably a contributor lol. His growth seems to be slowing down sliiightly the past few weeks as he’s becoming more mobile and active. Little dude gets a workout every time he’s awake because he’s on his tummy moving in circles and trying with all his might to crawl. But makes me wonder if he’ll eventually end up in that weird too big for diapers, but not old enough to potty train size I’ve seen some parents run into. submitted by /u/firstmateharry to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

My coworker swears she's chronically ill and falling apart at the seams
I work in childcare and I have a 22yr old coworker who swears she's completely broken. If someone says they have diabetes, she has it too and it's WAY worse that theirs!! Someone mentions they have scoliosis? She had to wear a back brace through high school and had two spinal surgeries to correct it! Oh, your mom has lupus? She got diagnosed at 12 years old! Your cousin has Tourette's? So does my coworker, even though her only "tic" is that she whistles on occasion! We push kids around in big strollers sometimes, they hold 4-6 kids at once. It's heavy, it's hard to push, I'll give her that. But she made it about 5 minutes today before she said, "my back hurts so bad. My scoliosis is flaring up and my kidney stones and plantar fasciitis are only making it worse." Like girl give me a break. She literally fell on the floor in the middle of a diaper change another day and said her fibromyalgia was flaring up and she needs to go to the hospital. Saw her ass at Subway on my lunch break like 30 minutes later. We've joked with our few male coworkers saying they should say they might have prostate cancer to see if she says she had the same thing as a kid. It's so fucking exhausting. Everytime you see her, even just passing her in the hallway, she makes it a point to tell you that something hurts. Walked past her the other day and she said "you know what I hate? When I pull muscles in the bottom of my feet. I can barely stand up." Can't tell you how many times she's trapped me to tell me how she's got 6 different autoimmune disorders and spina bifida on top of the scoliosis and ovarian cysts the size of grapefruits and insomnia but also sleep paralysis and you get the point. I would pay roughly a billion dollars to get ahold of her medical records and share them with absolutely everyone that has ever or will ever come in contact with her. She has a girlfriend of three years and I can't even imagine what kind of person she must be to put up with this girls bullshit every single second of every single day submitted by /u/bordermelancollie09 to r/coworkerstories [link] [comments]

a spin-off of the 'how big is your baby"... what size diaper/how old are they?
Ours is 4 months and size 5 diaper. How about yours? submitted by /u/Disastrous_Invite321 to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

What size diapers are your babies wearing?
FTM and I feel like I’m changing the sizing of my baby’s diaper too quickly? If that makes sense. She does not have blowouts often or anything of that sort. I solely judge based on how they fit her, around the waist and legs. I will notice that once the elastic at the thighs start to fit a bit more snug, I’ll size up to the next size once we finish the current ones. For reference, she is almost 5 months old, weighs 14 pounds, 98th percentile in height (idk if this matters) and is wearing a size 4 in pampers swaddlers. Am I doing something wrong here? Are there other ways to determine when is the right time to size up? submitted by /u/bullylover4 to r/NewParents [link] [comments]

I think I’m sizing diapers up too fast
My baby is on the smaller end, she’s almost 10 months and about 18 lbs. I already have her the size 5 diapers😭 I know thats not bad, but I feel like I’m doing it wrong. I size her up because she starts have blowouts through the leg holes, not bad blow outs but leakage. I know leaking is a good indicator for sizing up, but she has no other indication of needing to size up. I floof the part around the leg to make sure it’s positioned right. What should I do? Should size her back down to 4s for a bit longer? We’ve only had her in 5s for a week or so. Edit: we are using the Huggies little mover right now Edit: thank you all for the great tips!! 🥰 I think we’ll try sizing back down to 4s again. And if we still have issues then try a different brand before sizing up again submitted by /u/madi0916 to r/beyondthebump [link] [comments]

Diaper Sizing - I am terribly mistaken
I feel so embarrassed. I think I’ve been putting my daughter in the wrong size diapers for a longggg time. Help! We use pampers swaddlers. I’ve never followed the weight sizing, but moreso the yellow markings on the waist band. I think I’ve been putting the diapers up way too high. But she’s had a blow out maybe once in her life so I thought the more full-coverage was a good thing/working well! BUT I recently learned the diaper should go under her belly button. When I do that, I see just how huge her current ones are. Like huge everywhere. I was doing high waisted diapers. 🤦🏼‍♀️ For reference, she is almost 15 months old, weighs 20-25 lbs, and is probably about 30 inches long. (At her one year appt she was 20 pounds, 29 inches). She is VERY slim in the waist. Most 12-18 pants are too loose. If you use pampers swaddlers, what size would you suggest for her? What size diapers does your baby use in general for the 12-15 month age range? According to pampers, she’d be a size 4. I am humiliated to tell you I’ve been buying a much bigger size than that! 😬 ETA: thank you all for the input! I ordered a small pack of size 4 to try on her! I’m thinking a 4 or 5 would be a much better fit than the 7s I just started buying. 😂😭🫣 Go easy on me, y’all. 😅 submitted by /u/Icy-Objective-8969 to r/beyondthebump [link] [comments]
