why are all fidget toys designed for kids or men?
I know bright colours / plastic aren't just for kids, and gun metal / 3d print isn't just for men. But I can't help feel there's a major gap in the fidget toy market in terms of design. They're all... kinda ugly to me. Lol. Anyone else feel the same? I like natural materials, high quality design, nice colours... like stone, ceramic, linen. I want beautiful, artsy options!! I've DIYed some (stones on ribbon, lavender bags etc.) but they're never quite what I want. I need tactile sensory input basically all the time so at home I use a spike mat, yoga ball, hammock, bowls of sand/marbles. And because lots of them are like hippy / wellness vibes, I they're mostly beautiful objects or sort of interior-design adjacent. I guess that's what I'm looking for in a fidget/sensory toy. Not plastic, not EDC stuff. Is this remotely relatable haha? submitted by /u/pirategospel to r/AuDHDWomen [link] [comments]

3d Printing service $2 per hour (great for small fidget toys or giant orders).
I am running a 3d printing service, I have a BAMBU labs x1c 3d printer and I have one ams unit which enables it to use up to 4 filament colors. I print with Petg filament. The cost is $2.00/per hour of the printer printing and shipping. The filament that I use is Petg, the type will vary depending on the color you want and what I have available, most prints will be done in Petg. If you want abs (stronger than Petg and pla) I can print that but it will cost an extra 15¢ per hour. For more info or for a free quote, email me at [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) with the model file and I will give you a free quote. The prints will typically ship within 4 days after completion of the print and once they are paid for, this does not include weekends. If you have questions feel free to email me or respond to the post. If the file you want me to print is a paid file you will have to pay for it and send me the stl, if it is a free one just send me the link to it. There is a $15 order minimum (before shipping costs) if you want something printed and it is less than $15 and you don’t have anything else you want printed, then you will have to pay $15 plus shipping for your item. Here are some example ideas of what you could get printed: dragons or other toys, pieces to fix something you broke, stuff to use with your toolset, diy projects, prototypes for whatever you are designing, and almost anything else you can think of as long as it fits in a 250mm cube. If you would rather buy it through eBay instead of local pickup or PayPal you can do that either of these three ways work with me. I can ship to any of the lower 48 states if needed. Here is an area where I occasionally will post models on my business account which has a link to my main account https://www.instagram.com/3d_design638?igsh=MWlvMDhxMnJvNnZ6ag%3D%3D&utm_source=qr&utm_medium=social&utm_content=link_in_bio&fbclid=PAZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQMMjU2MjgxMDQwNTU4AAGnV5JU2OOZKAnEpQp2XLMvuRqXunJVwfQgmGdw1kC8GDRayPL_wheKj-jCODQ_aem_tN9C5jDSuWr9SARN_M2cWQ submitted by /u/Warm-Traffic-624 to r/toys [link] [comments]

Any recommendations for fidget toys that are a really nice sensory experience?
I work from home and I like having a few sensory fidget toys on my desk to help me focus during meetings. It sounds small, but having something quiet to move around in my hand helps me stay present when conversations go long. Right now I have a spinner, a DIY glitter potion bottle, and a smooth worry stone. They all help in different ways. The spinner is nice when I need movement, and the worry stone is calming to rub with my thumb. Still, I feel like I am missing something that just feels really nice to touch. I have tried a few stress balls but most of them were either too firm or way too big for my hands. My hands are kind of small, so squeezing them for more than a few seconds starts to feel weird. What I really want is something soft and satisfyingly squishy, but not sticky. Something I can squeeze or roll around in one hand without making noise. I tried searching online and saw a lot of sensory fidget toys on Amazon and Alibaba, but it is hard to tell what something will feel like through a screen. Does anyone have a favorite sensory fidget toy that just feels really good in your hand? Edit: Thank you all for your valuable feedback, I appreciate it 😊 submitted by /u/Commercial-Thing189 to r/ABA [link] [comments]

looking for ideas for sensory toys/ fidgets to occupy one hand while working on computer
Hi everyone :) I know there are already countless posts on here asking for recommendations for fidget toys, and i've searched many times, but have yet to find anything that fits my specific problem. So i decided to make my own post. My problem is this: When i am working on my PC (both at home or the office) my unoccupied left hand starts wandering, searching for textures and picking/scratching my skin. (Or i sometimes chew on my nails/cuticles, which isn't much better). I'm usually only half-aware that this is happening. I try to stop it, but once my focus is back on my work it happens again, sooner or later. I think it's due to a mix of boredom/need for sensory input as well as anxiety (it's worse if the task i need to do is stressful). And even though i have been aware of this for years, i've never found a way to stop it, cause i can't focus on keeping my hands in check AND the task i'm actually working on at the same time. Here is some additional info: What i've found DOESN'T help Repetitive movements (spinners, clickers, etc.) These only work when i'm nervous and need to funnel some sort of superflouous energy into movement - but usually they're not helpful to me. anything that needs two hands, i need my right hand to work Things you need to look at; If it's going to distract me from my actual work, it sort of defies the purpose... Bandaids / pimple patches - these are useful to cover a specific pimple that urgently needs to be left alone, but i know from experience that i'll just find some other spot to pick at (like my neck, scalp, arms, etc...) Putting bandaids/tape on my fingers instead - i hate the feeling of this and also it's impractical, cause i do need my left hand for work (just not continuously, if that makes sense) What i'm looking for Only needs one hand probably some sort of textured surface to touch a DIY solution would be nice, but not a must doesn't have to be a 'real' fidget toy! i'm happy to try unconventional or weird ideas, all suggestions are welcome :) I'm sure many of you struggle with the same problem. If anyone has ideas what i could try or have found ways to deal with this themselves, please share your experience with me

Glass Bead Bonanza: A List
Gather round, Laqueristas, for an epic tale. Mere months ago, u/RaptureSnatch posted a video that captured the hearts and minds of Laqueristas everywhere. Overnight, this sub transformed into a den of ingenuity. Laqueristas searched their cupboards, garages, and online retailers high and low for devices that spin, stir, and crank. Lego was borrowed, technology of yore was resurrected, junk drawers were ransacked, husbands were recruited, power tools were used irresponsibly, and Amazon frequently bought together sections were altered (multiple times). To the pioneers and inventors of various glass bead techniques, I salute you. This level of creativity must not be allowed to disappear into the forgotten corners of the internet. Women, thems, and men of STEM, I present to you: The Glass Bead Bonanza. I leave this as a reference post for those on a quest for their perfect glass bead apparatus, and for the digital archeologists and sociologists of the future who wish to study to the magnet madness. This is not a complete archive, but my goal was to include one post per technique (ideally, the pioneer of each method or the post that got the most traction). Whether you, your partner, or your children have a degree in mechanical engineering, are a Lego enthusiast, a 3D printing wizard, or a scavenging DIYer, there is a glass bead technique in here for you! Most require a horseshoe magnet, but there's a section near the end for those who need to DIY without a horseshoe magnet. If a post title doesn't explicitly state what tools were used, I added it in parentheses for easier navigation. When trying any of these techniques remember: safety first, safety second, coolness third. May all your glass bead manis be dazzling! Edit: new techniques and posts that didn't show up in my searches are still being added! And nobody asked for it, but each section is now in chronological order to the best of my ability (curse you Reddit interface for only showing the date of posts for the first 30 days and then switching to months). Manual Finally mastered the glass bead magnetic effect (the legend that started it all with a ribbon spool and some imagination) May I humbly suggest the rubber band twirl method for glass bead style magnetizing. Hopping on the...carousel? (mini lazy susan + nail below) This one’s my speed (spinny magnet post) (mini lazy susan + nail above) Looking forward to testing this spinning horseshoe magnet out! (misc bolt + wood) I present to the magnet council: DIY Archimedes pump drill Playing with magnets and my untrieds (exercise band) Sorry I’m late, I was working on a solution for the gel mani crew (aka The Nailtron which uses a clear, full-sized lazy susan and the regular gel polish tools) Fidget spinner + magnetic polish A little late to the party but here’s the spinner I made (Lego with instructions on rebrickable) A 3D Printed Magnet Design That Anyone Can Assemble Another semi-unhinged magnet DIY (misc bolt + block of wood, slightly different from the one above) It’s me, a woman in stem (Allen key/wrench - if you have bought anything from Ikea you can probably do this one) Low Tech Glass Bead + Stamping (kinetic spinning cylinder desk toy) Even safer contraption, glass bead effect tested (cardboard + screw) Full Lego tutorial (plus full list of parts) for achieving the "glass bead" magnetic effect (more Lego but with a crank instead of a wheel) My contribution... a magnet tied to a shoelace 🙌 I call it the Peanut Beader (empty peanut butter jar) Sick of magnets? Too bad, because I worked hard on this thing. Mechanical Another day another magnet (magnetic stirrer) Windchime spinners: a safer way to spin a magnet! favorite unconventional/DIY fidgets & sensory tools?
I've been inspired by a lot of the no buy/sustainability movement, as well as feeling a bit blasé about most conventional "fidget" toys. No shame to those who use them! I have a collection too, but the bright colors and "childish" stereotype (read: judgment from others :[ ) have been a turn off for me. I pose the question to y'all: what are your favorite diy, improvised, handmade, or unconventional fidgets? My current favorite is a d20 necklace. It's a hollow d20 on a long chain, and inside there's several smaller dice. Rolling it across my palm or shaking it softly to feel the mini dice inside move has been particularly soothing to me lately. I had no idea it'd become a favorite fidget until several days of wearing, and realizing I was reaching for it often! I'm curious what other things people have found comfort and pleasant sensory input from. submitted by /u/howlite_hedgehog to r/autism [link] [comments]

Favorite fidget “toys”/ coping mechanisms?
Hey so this might be a strange request but I feel like my phone addiction is 99% just my hands being wayy too fidgety all the time with the plus of having visual feedback. Soo I wanted to ask y'all what your fav fidget toys are/ how y'all keep your hands nice and stimulated (not the biggest fan of loud childlike colors🤧), any strange diy ideas work also! submitted by /u/idontdodrugs69 to r/AutisticAdults [link] [comments]

DIY fidget toy I am currently obsessed with
This sounds stupid, but I have absolutely fallen in love with these, and can't find anyone else talking about them on the internet, and figured I'd share because I LOVE them. I just take a piece of masking tape that's about a foot long, fold it back on itself so the sticky sides touch and its just a strip about 6in long, and then (optionally) draw a small pattern or symbol with sharpie (doesn't rub off, even with my vigorous fidgeting). For example, I drew a little treasure map with an X fand everything that I trace with my finger sometimes. Once you've played with it for a little bit, it gets a leathery texture that I love, and you can just kind of play with it. I LOVE these to death, and it felt wrong to not share. Edit: a lot of people are asking for a picture, here it is, I finally remembered to do it!! (ADHD, sorry). It is quite literally just a folded over piece of masking tape lol https://preview.redd.it/tlo6smu31fke1.jpg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e1ca3b1677fc7a8d54c3ad3b33d6d3a37656ab9d submitted by /u/StemWaffle to r/fidgettoys [link] [comments]

Any recommendations for fidget toys that are a really nice sensory experience?
I work from home and try to have some silent fidget toys on my desk to help my focus in meetings. I have a spinner and a diy glitter potion bottle and a smooth worry stone and things like that, but what I’m missing is something just feels really nice to touch. I’ve tried a few stress balls but they were all too hard and/or too big for my (somewhat small) hands. I’m thinking something soft and satisfyingly squishy but not sticky that I can easily squeeze or roll around with one hand, but I have yet to come across something in stores and it’s hard to actually know how something will feel when you’re looking online. Anyone have something they really love? submitted by /u/lean_connoli to r/adhdwomen [link] [comments]
