Hey everyone, first-time poster and first-time vacuum buyer here looking for some advice. My girlfriend and I are buying our first vacuum together. I just received a refurb Ball Animal 3 vacuum from Dyson. It's completely clean, no blockages (that I can see), in the upright position, the motor and motorized head all work perfectly, dirt and dust picked up from the head swirl in the canister like a tornado. Basically, this thing sucks, in a good way! However, when using the hose/wand, there is almost no suction. It picks up really, really light and small stuff, but it can't even pick up dog hair laying under the power cord. The motor doesn't work any harder than it does before, like if something was physically blocking the vacuum. I'm not sure if I'm missing something, or... The design for the independent hose looks poor, but looks like it would still work fine with a good motor. After some research this sounds like a common problem but everyone seemingly resolves it by removing some blockage. No deal-breakers here, but I was looking forward to some good suckage.. Are bagged uprights better than bagless? Which Kenmore should I go with---looking to stay below $300? Backstory: We've had a Dyson Ball Animal for 7-8 years. The suction is crap, even on a good day. The hose 'holster' takes 20 attempts before it snaps back into place properly. I HATE sticking my hand into filth to clean stuck debris in the canister. I'm done. We also have a (craptastic) Dyson cordless stick for quick cleanup, but it's essentially useless. I need a reliable workhorse. We're a family with environmental allergies, two messy kids (teen and 10), a medium-sized non-shedding dog. House is around 3,000 sq feet, three levels. Fully carpeted basement; mix of large area rugs, tile and hardwood on the main floors. We have baseboard radiators so something with a legit tool to suck into and under the fins would be a bonus. I don't want to break the bank b/c my husband 'loves' the (useless) Dyson simply because it's a Dyson....so we will probably also get that repaired. But it's either me or our housekeeper who actually vacuums regularly. I don't want to go deaf using it (dog is vacuum reactive and likes to attack it). I want REAL, RELIABLE suction and to know that I am TRULY cleaning both the carpet AND hard floors....not just pushing dirt around or blowing crumbs across the room. Hi Dyson friends, I need your help on locating the correct screws for my Dyson Ball Animal 3 upright vacuum head. I (carefully!) cleaned the head and took out the screws that could be removed with a Philips head screwdriver. There were probably 6-8 total, two different lengths. I was so careful and even watched a YouTube video on how to do it correctly. I put the screws somewhere safe while cleaning and someone in my household misplaced them 😭 any recommendations on how to find the correct size screws? I just purchased this and on the first use it is making this obnoxiously loud squeaking noise. Yes I made sure all the packaging was off. I made sure all the seals are good. Hey everyone, I’ve been trying to reattach the cleaning head (floor tool) on my Dyson Animal Ball 3 for the past 3 hours and I can’t get it to slide on like it used to. It fit easily the first time I did it, but now no matter how I line it up or how many YouTube videos I follow, it just won’t budge. It feels like something’s slightly off but I can’t tell what. I’ve tried: • Watching multiple YouTube tutorials step-by-step • Aligning the tabs and pushing firmly • Wiggling / rocking it a bit in case it was stuck But still nothing — it just won’t click into place. Does anyone have a video (not just pictures) of them actually attaching the Animal Ball 3 head that I could follow along with in real time? So I’ve been looking for an upright vacuum to replace our 8 year old shark lift away vacuum and after viewing the differential vacuums on the market, I’ve narrowed it down to these two vacuums. My house if made up of 50% carpet and 50% concrete tile floor My main interests are Good filtration Ease of mobility Easy to clean Cool features. But, the expedition is time limited and may be quite tedious, so I’ve prepared a guide to help you complete it in under 3 hours—fast and efficient! This is Aiming4Gaming, and today we're aiming for efficient gaming! TL;DR I know that some people prefer watching videos over reading text guides. If you're one of them, here's a video version of this guide where I explain each step in action. If you prefer text guides, it's right below! How to start expedition To start the expedition, you have two options: You can start a new game in Expedition mode Or you can summon the Space Anomaly from any existing save and start the expedition from expedition terminal. The second option is better, as you can bring resources and technologies with you, or even bring a copy of your starship or multitool, which greatly speeds up expedition progress! Also, if you start the expedition from your main save, you'll be able to transfer back most of the items you obtain during the expedition. Preparation (Optional) First of all, if you're a seasonal player, you can make the run much easier by bringing some resources with you! This time you can bring: 150 Silver 270 Gold 3 Warp Cells Everything you bring will be available at the same terminal within the expedition! To retrive items, you must warp once - this will unlock the space anomaly within the expedition! In other words, the initial mining is inevitable! You can also buy most of these resources from the space station terminals and traders if you want to speed things up. I’ll be starting from scratch in this guide to simulate a new player experience. Notable things during expedition Keep in mind these things: Don't forget to claim rewards for completed milestones, as some of them contain plans for the next milestones. Use the refiner if you need to process anything. And don't install unnecessary modules you get from milestones as they can be sold for easy nanites instead! If you install a module, its cost reduces to 16, we don't want this to happen! The guide Once you start the expedition, mine the basic set of resources, including at least 50 ferrite dust, 30 oxygen, 40 silicate powder, 60 copper, and around 300 carbon. Then reach your starship, enter the cockpit, receive the communication, and retrieve the orbital uplink blueprint. Now build a portable refiner and process copper into chromatic metal. Then craft an orbital uplink and activate it to teleport to the nearest space station and also complete the "Link to the Stars" milestone. Collect the reward, then visit the nearest corvette workshop. Here you must build a basic corvette consisting of several modules listed at the top right of the screen. Finalize the corvette and swap it with your current starship. Get inside your starship, open the build menu, and place a mission radar to complete "Ship Architecture." From this milestone, you'll get a lot of modules—install all of them! Now visit the "Cintiusi Ochi" planet with both "salvageable scrap" and "dissonance detected" traits. Hover just above the surface, then open the starship menu. Select Autopilot Management → Maintain Current Flightpath. This will put you in the cockpit while your ship keeps flying on its own. Now, use the scanner to locate buried salvage containers! Mark the first one, regain control, and blast it with your ship’s weapons to get them. Repeat until you get 5 corvette modules and complete "Salvaging." Meanwhile, flying with autopilot for 30 seconds will also complete "Cruising." Install the cyclotron ballista and Dyson Pump. While you're on this planet, fight corrupt sentinels until you destroy 8 of them. You can save at your ship after that and reload to clear the sentinel threat or complete 5 waves. Either way, you'll finish "Undying Horde." Documenting 3 animals on this planet will also complete "Wild Things." This will reward you with an echo locator you must use. Follow the marked location to find a settlement, where you must solve a simple riddle: put three glyphs representing numbers from the equation results, then deactivate the multitool seal. Claim the multitool from the stand and you'll complete "Reclaimed Weaponry." Lastly, pick up any gravitino ball, quickly board your starship, go to space, and destroy 3 interceptors to complete "Anarchy." Then destroy 40 asteroids to complete "Heavyweight." Exit your starship in open space, select the "Stardiving" milestone, and fly toward the ship reactor until the counter reaches 60 seconds to complete it. Then use the jetpack to fly around for 30 seconds to also complete "Extravehicular." Meanwhile, flying 100,000 units without the pulse engine will complete "Flightpath." The "Undying Horde" milestone rewards you with units and nanites. Use them to buy some chromatic metal from traders and repair your hyperdrive engine. Then visit the technology merchant, sell unneeded modules, and buy both hyperdrive modules he has. Install them—one in the hypercharged slot if possible. Add some modules to your corvette if you wish. Select the "Resist: 1" milestone, then warp to the marked system to complete "Can't Take the Sky." At this point, you can finally summon the Space Anomaly and retrieve all the items you transferred from your main save at the expedition terminal. Now visit the local space station, then find its core on the second floor and interact with it to complete "Resist: 1." Buy 150 silver and 270 gold if you haven't brought them from your main save. Build 4 growing beds inside your starship. Add 3 hull modules to your corvette to complete "Advance: Expand." You will learn how to craft seeds and also get a pre-packaged hazmat gauntlet you must install. Buy all the uranium from the station trade terminal, then visit the "Enbridge Beta" irradiated planet in this system. Gather at least 400 gamma root from Gamma Weed plants, then plant 8 Gamma Weed plants in the growing beds inside your starship. Next visit the "Afte X" humid planet and land there to complete "Grounded." Install the fishing rig module for later. Select the "Resist: 3" milestone, then warp to the marked system, visit the local space station, and interact with its core on the second floor to complete it. Add thruster modules to your corvette until you have 6 to complete "Advance: Move." Select the "Resist: 4" milestone, then warp to the marked system, visit the local space station, and interact with its core on the second floor to complete it. Trade for 1 shield module using the corvette workshop terminal, then add 3 shield modules to your corvette to complete "Advance: Defend." Then add 2 weapon modules to your corvette to complete "Advance: Destroy." Buy 1 wiring loom at the trade terminal, then install a conflict scanner. Find any pirate-controlled system marked with a skull and warp there to complete "Off the Radar." Buy as many illegal black market goods as you can from the pirate station. Select the "Resist: 5" milestone, then warp to the marked system, visit the local space station, and interact with its core on the second floor to complete it. Sell the black market goods at the trade terminal to complete "Under Their Noses." Take an in-game photo of your corvette to complete "Aperture." Add 2 more reactor modules to your corvette to complete "Advance: Heart." Go to space, use the Anomaly Detector you got, then activate the pulse engine and wait until you find an anomaly to complete "Dwarfed." Visit the "Gojo 28/G5" Bountiful planet in this system and catch 3 fish from any water pool there to complete "Proteins From the Sea." Install a Nutrition Unit and cook any fish there to complete "Fresh Rations." Fight all 5 waves of sentinels on any planet to disable them and complete "One, Zero." By that time, all 8 Gamma Weeds will probably be ready for harvest. Collecting them will complete "Silent Running." Install an Emergency Warp Unit, then open the Utilities menu and use Emergency Warp to complete "Fast Scramble." Use the Emergency Signal Scanner, activate the pulse engine until you locate a Derelict Freighter, then explore the entire dungeon to complete "Spacewreck"—the final milestone of this expedition! There are also two optional milestones that rely on multiplayer, so it's up to you whether you wish to complete them. I also removed all extra modules from my corvette and sent them to my main save! How to claim revards and finish expedition Now summon the Space Anomaly, visit the expedition terminal, press "End Expedition", transfer anything you want to keep to your main save if you started the expedition from there, then finish the expedition. Everything else you own will be converted into units and nanites, and all currency, including quicksilver, will be transferred to your main save. If you started the expedition as a new game, completing the expedition will convert it into a regular save, allowing you to keep all your items and currency as-is. Either way, you can now claim the expedition rewards from the Quicksilver Companion on as many saves as you like! Just pulled it out of the box, assembled it, and tried it out. Tried all pile settings. The brush is spinning fine. Is this thing really that hard to push on carpet??? Plenty of suction but no propel. I vacuumed for about 4 minutes and I’m exhausted. My forearm is sore. Please tell me I’ve done something wrong or missed something, otherwise this will have to get returned, omg.
