Dyson stick vacuum drawbacks?
I’ve seen a lot of praise for Dyson vacuums, but I’m so weary of spending that much money on something i already have (cordless stick vacuum for $80). My biggest complaint with my Hoover stick vac is that i have to spend 15 min unclogging the stick like every time i use it. With a dog and two cats, the shedding is INTENSE. but i really don’t want the bulky corded Dyson either. Dyson stick owners, how often do you have to unclog the thing? I’ve seen some complaints about battery lifespan and run time. Is the performance of the Dyson really worth paying triple what i already spent on my other stick? Thank you !! submitted by /u/FrontInvestment639 to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Shark PowerDetect vs Dyson v8?
I bought a Bissell and don't care for it.. looking to swap for a better stick vacuum, as I HATE finagling cords. Both the Shark PowerDetect and Dyson v8 are about the same price right now. Any opinions from anyone who has used these? My house is 1700sqft of hardwood floors and a few area rugs, so I'd like a stick vacuum. submitted by /u/ALittleBitKengaskhan to r/VacuumCleaners [link] [comments]

Stick vacuums or cordless vacuums are inferior to corded vacuums
I have used both corded and cordless vacuums over the years. The dyson stick vacuum was a jump start to grab n go vacuum around the house but now I find myself using a cheap but powerful corded vacuum all the time around the house. Nothing beats the suction of a corded vacuum. The vast majority of vacuum advertisements is for battery powered vacuum but the best vacuums are plugged in. A shop vac for example can suck up anything that fits in the 2.5 inch hose. Vacuuming a car with a shop vac is very satisfying especially when it sucks up tissues wrapper junk rock etc. submitted by /u/12hrnights to r/unpopularopinion [link] [comments]

Best Cordless Stick Vacuum - I have $800 and zero patience left
My Shark Vertex just literally snapped at the folding joint. Tape isn't holding it together anymore and I'm honestly so done buying disposable plastic trash that breaks after a year and a half. I need something that actually survives daily life. We have mostly hardwood floors, a couple of cursed medium-pile rugs that trap everything, and a golden retriever who sheds his entire body weight weekly. Doing the stairs is my personal nightmare right now. Budget is around $700 or $800. If it actually lasts. Right now I'm staring at the Dyson V15 Detect and the LG CordZero. The Samsung Bespoke one looks nice but maybe it's just aesthetics? I don't know anymore, the reviews on all of them are completely unhinged. Some things I'm wondering before I drop this much cash: - Is the green laser on the Dyson actually doing anything or is it a complete gimmick? - How fast does the battery degrade on these $800 machines... can you even swap it easily? - Does the LG actually handle dog hair without getting hopelessly tangled? Please just tell me what to buy. I'm so tired of fighting with broken plastic. submitted by /u/LipNat to r/VacuumCleaners [link] [comments]

~$500 stick vacuum? Shark vs Dyson
Time has finally come that I'm getting myself a CORDLESS stick vacuum. My home only has hardwood floor and tiles in the bathroom/kitchen. Two floors & a basement. Vacuuming stairs is something I'd like to tackle, since that's not something my old corded unit could do. Oh also looong girl hair and occasional cat hair when I catsit. Hoping not to spend over $500. So currently looking at the Shark powerdetect, which I can get for $440 new. Or buy a Dyson V15 off FBMP, which seems to also hover around the $400~500 mark. I also have Costco membership, and every now and then I see the V15 go on sale, but it has always been just slightly too expensive for me to pull the trigger. I've used the Dyson V15 before at my cousin's house and it feels great. But doesn't seem to be the most reliable unit. This sub seems to dislike Shark, could anyone enlighten me on why? Or what are other alternative options. Should add that I'm decently handy at repairing stuff. Not sure if there is still a vacuum brand in 2026 that's focused on right to repair in 2026, but if there is, please lmk! submitted by /u/kevinn145 to r/VacuumCleaners [link] [comments]

Anyone else feel like Dyson products are becoming more and more disapponting due to the company's cordless obsession? What's your horror story?
We had a plug-in Dyson upright with 9/10 performance, a plug-in Dyson ball vacuum with 10/10 performance then it all started going downhill.... Both lasted 10 years and were donated to family members, still going. We are on to our second Dyson cordless vac in 5 years and I swear I will never buy a dyson ever again. The performance and maintenance requirements are poop. Oh and dont start me on the Dyson robot vacuum. We replaced it with an Aldi robo vac after 2 years and the performance leaves the Dyson for dead. submitted by /u/Equivalent-Ad1055 to r/dyson [link] [comments]

HELP. Will a cordless vacuum make vacuuming easier? Accepting all you vacuum recs and hacks pleaseeee.
EDIT: Ya'll are my people. I'm so grateful for the recs. TLDR, many of you are in agreement that either a cordless stick vacuum or robot vacuum make your life meaningfully easier. I decided against robot for personal preference. For stick vacuums these things were listed as components that decreased the executive function required: docking station for self cleaning/charging, so it's ready to go when you need it replaceable/multiple batteries, although this isn't standard in most stick vacuums "anti wrap" technology which decreases the burden of cleaning hair out of the rollers a machine that stands upright HACKS: leaving the vacuum IN SIGHT so you remember to use it fun accessories like LED light to enjoy watching it suck up the dirt or goggly eyes to make vacuuming more fun :) Other considerations weight, especially if you have joint issues ease of emptying ability to turn into handheld device some also mentioned 2-1 vacuum mop combo tools, which is an interesting idea to really decrease the number of steps required in cleaning hard floors! whatever machine you get, it requires regular maintenance to maintain performance There was more here, but these were my main take aways for my situation... I ended up choosing a shark w/docking station. Stands upright, has a little folding part to easily get under beds (a focal point for me), and is high performing on hard floors over dyson. All my research said that shark is the worst at planned obsolescence, however I also read that many handhelds have relatively short lifespans these days anyway... ---------- We get all kinds of dust loving pests in our home, and I CANNOT keep on top of the vacuuming. Current barriers include: - kids stuff, even if their rooms are "picked-up" I still have to do a pre-clean before I can even get started in their rooms. One kids room is a bug hot spot/they are really sensitive to bites/etc. - I have a hand-me-down robot vacuum that itself takes 15 or forever minutes to re-boot/attach to wifi/turns out it wasn't charged. It drives me bananas. I often waste time trying to get it started and it ends in nothing getting vacuumed. - Getting under beds and furniture with my standard vacuum is hard (it's what I hoped the robot vacuum would help with). This is where the dust loving pests live. I imagine a cordless vacuum may make this task easier? Maybe I wouldn't even have to move furniture? Wide open to vacuum recommendations as well as life hacks to improve my vacuuming. I need hacks that decrease the barriers to getting the task started or decrease the size/scope of how burdensome the task feels. Thanks friends. submitted by /u/Practical-Pea-7159 to r/adhdwomen [link] [comments]

Which is the best cordless vacuum that actually has good suction?
I'm moving from a small apartment to a 2-story house next month and my current corded vacuum is on its last legs anyway. I'm tired of dealing with cords and want to go cordless, but I've heard mixed things about their power. Looking for the best cordless vacuum that doesn't lose suction after 5 minutes and can handle both hardwood and carpet. I have a dog who sheds like crazy so pet hair performance is crucial. Budget is around $300-500. I've seen Dyson everywhere but they're expensive - are they actually worth it or is that just marketing? Also considering Shark and some other brands. What are you all using? Does anyone have experience with multiple brands they can compare? submitted by /u/HandsomeSion to r/VacuumCleaners [link] [comments]

Does Dyson and Shark vacuumers really suck?
Hey guys, Ive been googling and youtubing around for days trying to figure out what cordless vacuum cleaner I should get. Got recommended this subreddit, and I wonder if you had any advice on which one I should get, or if I should avoid them all together. I was set on a Dyson v8 absolute, then a V11 advanced, then a Shark Powerpro IZ380EU. Depending on which video or post I look at, theyre all either garbage or fantastic. If anyone wishes to guide me a little it would be much appreciated. I live in a 50 square meter apartment so operation time between charging isnt a major concern, no pets and am slightly budget conscious but can bend. I have some thick carpets and very long hair, so a vacuum with good suction power is important. I do wish for a vacuum that doesnt need replacement in a couple years, but apparently thats hard to find. Thanks! EDIT: Also, thought Id add I can get the Dyson v8 for under $300, the Dyson v11 for under $500 and the Shark Powerpro to under $200. Best Dyson Cordless Vacuum?
Thinking of finally getting a Dyson cordless, but I’m totally lost with all the versions (V8, V10, V11, V15, etc.). I have got mostly hardwood floors with a couple of rugs, so I need something with good suction and decent battery life for pet hair. Are the newer ones (V11, V15, Gen5) really that much better, or is a V8/V10 still a solid choice? Prices are pretty steep, so I’d rather not pay extra just for hype. If you own one, which model do you swear by? Or is there a non-Dyson option that actually beats them? submitted by /u/Sufficient-Lie2282 to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

What cordless vacuum cleaners are actually worth buying, but don’t break the bank?
I’m in the market for a new vacuum cleaner, as our Henry is just too cumbersome to use in our rather tall, but also rather slim, house. We are wanting a fairly lightweight cordless vacuum cleaner, but they all seem to be either expensive or crap! Surely there must be one that fits all the below criteria: Under £150 Actually sucks up dust and cat hair Has a battery life of ~30 minutes or more We’ve already asked all of our friends and even tried their vacuum cleaners out but none of them fit the bill - surely one must exit somewhere?! We’ve tried ones by Bosch, Tower, and Vax that were all ~£70 and they just didn’t work for us. Can any of you recommend one worth buying? No Dyson recs please - I know they’re good but a) they’re expensive and b) fuck that guy. Cheers! submitted by /u/tenpoundpermole to r/AskUK [link] [comments]

Cordless Stick Vacuums are perfect for most people.
I came to this subreddit to read up on vacuum cleaner advice. The negative consensus on cordless vacuums almost misled me into getting a big bulky corded vacuum for my 1-bedroom apartment. Luckily I didn't and bought a Samsung Jet 75 off of Amazon Warehouse deals for 170 EUR to see what the hype was about. I mean there had to be a reason why everyone and their mother wants these dyson-like stick vacuums. On mid-setting, my Jet 75 cleans my carpets excellently, and has no trouble cleaning my entire apartment with 60% battery leftover. Never even needed the high-setting. And it hangs on the wall so conveniently, ready to be picked up and used at a whim, instead of taking up precious space on the floor. I feel like the sub has an elitist-culture. Like I get it, yall are vacuum cleaner enthusiasts and want the best of the best performance, but that doesn't change the fact that your great performing corded vacuum cleaner is ass for most people because they're a clumsy hassle that take up precious space. Most people don't want clumsy with top of the line suction power. People want convenience with more than adequate suction power. Cordless stick vacuums provide more than enough suction power for 90% of users, while providing 10x the convenience. I'm never going back to a non-stick corded model. submitted by /u/1Stronk to r/VacuumCleaners [link] [comments]
