I just pulled the head off my electric toothbrush and I’m actually gagging.
I was brushing my teeth this morning and noticed this weird smell coming from the actual handle of my electric toothbrush. I usually just rinse the bristles and call it a day, but I finally decided to pull the brush head off to see what was going on. I’m actually spiraling right now. The entire metal pin and the inside of the head were covered in this thick, black, slimy gunk. It looked like straight up sewage. I realized that every time I brush, a mix of spit and old toothpaste just drips down into that tiny gap and ferments. I’ve been putting this thing in my mouth twice a day for months thinking I was being hygienic while a whole ecosystem was growing an inch away from my tongue. I tried to scrub it out with a toothpick, but the smell was so foul I just ended up throwing the whole head away. Am I the only idiot who didn't know you had to clean the inside of the machine? Need recommendations for best electric toothbrush
Just got back from the dentist and let's just say it wasn't great news. I've been using a manual toothbrush my whole life and apparently I'm not doing a good enough job because I've got some early gum issues starting. My dentist strongly recommended switching to an electric toothbrush. I want to get the best electric toothbrush I can to actually fix this problem before it gets worse. Budget isn't really an issue if it means avoiding more dental work down the road. What should I be looking for? Sonicare vs Oral-B? Do those UV sanitizers actually matter? I have somewhat sensitive gums (obviously lol) so I don't want something too aggressive. Would really appreciate any advice from people who've made the switch! submitted by /u/BioKZM to r/BuyItForLife [link] [comments]

Turns out my 80$, name-brand electric toothbrush was not waterproof
It suddenly stopped working while I was brushing. The toothbrush is fresh out of warranty, the battery was never an issue, no signs of drops or damage, so I decided to open it up to see if there was some loose connection to re-solder. Apparently, water has been dripping inside the casing for who knows how long, seeping in from the top and making its way down. I wonder why it died. submitted by /u/LordBroblord to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

Switching to an EU-made electric toothbrush
When my trusty Oral-B Pro finally gave out a few days ago, I found myself choosing between the Oral-B iO3 and the Philips Sonicare 5300. After thorough research, I went with the Philips, and here's why. While the iO series looked promising, several issues gave me pause. The most concerning was the widespread mold problem affecting the brush head attachment system. Despite Oral-B's own tutorial recommending an almost obsessive cleaning routine after each use (disassemble, wash, and dry every component), people still reported mold growth due to the flawed design. The economics didn't help either. Replacement heads cost €20 for a 4-pack with no compatible third-party alternatives, making it significantly more expensive than the older Pro series. Add to that the mediocre 17-day battery life (per Electric Teeth's testing), and the iO started losing its appeal. The fact that it's made by American-owned P&G was another consideration for me. The Sonicare 5300 checked all my boxes. Philips' toothbrush division remains Dutch-owned, and the units are manufactured in the Netherlands. The battery life is supposed to be 46 days on a single charge, according to Electric Teeth. After using it for a while, I'm impressed with the build quality and cleaning performance. It's noticeably quieter than my old Oral-B, and I appreciate that the battery is user-replaceable (just one Torx screw externally and one Phillips screw inside). All Philips electric toothbrushes use the same attachment system, giving you plenty of options from both Philips and third-party manufacturers. I picked up an 8-pack of the newer C1 BrushSync heads for €20 which is double the quantity of Oral-B iO heads for the same price. Overall, I'm really happy with the switch. This toothbrush addresses all the issues I had with the Oral-B Pro while offering better battery life, quieter operation, and much more affordable replacement heads. It's been a solid upgrade. submitted by /u/hyxon4 to r/BuyFromEU [link] [comments]

After using electric toothbrush
After my teeth cleaning, my dentist advised me to use an electric toothbrush since she noticed na hindi ako maayos mag-toothbrush. After 1 month of using the electric toothbrush, I can see the improvement, at nalilinis na rin nang maayos yung likod ng mga ngipin. While using the e-toothbrush, sinasama ko rin yung gums ko para malinis din. I’m not pressing it hard while brushing and wala naman akong na experience na bleeding gums. I just want to know if my gums are receding sa lower part. Noon na manual toothbrush pa gamit ko, hindi naman nagkakaganito. Btw, I’m using Oral- B Pro. submitted by /u/Vegetable_Ad_2539 to r/DentistPh [link] [comments]

Get an electric toothbrush
I’m SUPER serious, hear me out. Give yourself that little win as an ADHD adult. Get a nice one. Get one that pulses or vibrates to let you know when you should switch from each ā€œquadrantā€ of your mouth. Get one that actually spins and doesn’t just vibrate so you’re getting extra cleaning motion. (Edit-jury is out on this one but I still vouch for the spin action) Get one that holds a super long charge so when you forget to set it on the charging stand right next to the sink, it doesn’t really matter. Get one that has brush tops that are super easy to access at your local store, not ones you have to remember to buy online. Hell, get one with Bluetooth you can play music on for fun. You will realize how bad you were at brushing your teeth, that you didn’t do it nearly long enough. You’ll realize how clean your mouth feels all day (so little tartar build-up.) You’ll realize it makes it so easy to create a little bedtime routine because it’s (stupidly?) kind of fun to use your gadget that vibrates your head. Seriously, the easiest daily small win I’ve ever given myself. Edit: Dang I suppose I should recommend the one I have since people are asking! Pretty sure it’s the oral-b pro 5000 smart series on Amazon. Right now it’s says it’s $75, my boyfriend got it for me last year and it was more expensive. Other people might want different things but it holds a super long charge, has timed quadrant seconds with an obvious buzz to let you know you’re done, and a red light if you’re using too much pressure. You can also track your brush habits with the app but I don’t do that haha. submitted by /u/xdem112 to r/ADHD [link] [comments]
