Am I the one who's crazy?!
UPDATE: THANK YOU to everyone for educating me! 🙏 I should have probably clarified that I've never purchased fine jewelry before and had no idea what the process entailed. Especially thank you to the designers that explained the time and work that goes into making mock ups, I had no idea! I would never intentionally insult an artist or expect free work but I get that the internet doesn't do nuance or give strangers the benefit of the doubt. But I'm still grateful for the help! ❤️ And yes, I know I'm crazy. This is my engagement ring that I love and adore. We bought it from a jewelry designer on Etsy because I wanted all lab created stones and I wanted something affordable. I love it. It's stunning. Now we're getting married in October and I want to customize a wedding band that suits the style and fits the curve, etc. I do not want to use the same designer because they were a nightmare with shipping and kept lying to me about it being sent out. Since then, I've messaged several other designers on Etsy about wedding bands and they all either want me to pick a band design before they will show me a drawing or charge me a fee for CADs of the set. Am I crazy to find this unacceptable?! My ring is not standard or traditional and how am I supposed to pick the right band without seeing mock ups of a few different options before choosing the right one?!?! Do I have to try to find a local jeweler to see specific bands with my ring?! I feel like I'm being a diva about this but it's a pretty important decision and I just want to SEE WHAT IT WILL LOOK LIKE before shelling out $500+. I appreciate any advice! Safe Etsy Jewelry
I’ve been trying to find shops on Etsy that sell studs that look like these. I’ve found some but they don’t have the proper implant graded titanium. Cheap Etsy jewelry vs quality brands?
I’m building up my ear stacks and love the look of high end jewelry like BVLA, but my wallet doesn’t. I see lots of piercing jewelry on Etsy in a very similar style that claims to be solid gold, real gemstones, etc. for $50-$100 for a small flat back stud. Obviously I know the quality is not going to be the same, but the price difference is too big to ignore. I don’t have any metal sensitivities, and I’m looking for old healed piercings, so if the gold is alloyed with nickel or something that’s probably not an issue for me. I do plan to wear these pieces 24/7 so poor quality is a concern, but I won’t be switching them out often, and if something broke after a couple years, at that price point I wouldn’t be too mad. Please influence me one way or the other. Horrible experiences with Etsy jewelry? A certain Etsy seller you trust? I loved the Anastasia cartoon as a child, especially the blue opera gown. So I sewed my own version! I just need the gloves and jewelry! The dress is blue stretch satin from Kiki textiles, and the blue organza is slightly sparkly, just doesn’t show in the photos, and I got it from Heddy’s Fabric in Las Vegas, and the pattern form Taylorjeancox on Etsy! Legit jewelry sellers on etsy
Hi! Partner is looking to buy an engagement ring and came across a few stores on etsy, one of them being GreenClark. They have a lot of sales and like most of these shops it seems a very high star rating but that doesnt seem to necessarily mean much in terms of real materials etc.. Does anyone have any good / reputable sellers on etsy? Does anyone have experience with the one i linked above being legit? I've read and seen a lot on some of the scams etc are being done for jewelry shops on etsy e.g. faking country of origin, odd response times, poor langauge skills, AI slop images or stolen images. Found a couple of their pics elsewhere so not who stole from who etc etc. A bit wary and would appreicate any recommendations or suggestions!! AI Made jewelry images on Etsy - What do we think of this?
I've been selling on Etsy since 2009. I saw sales climb as I developed new products, worked hard to establish a a solid customer base and maintain a 5.0 rating. Then they introduced the "Supplies" category and things started downhill. Next they started to allow makers to use third parties to "craft" their wares. Now: Anyone with access to AI can start up a shop and list items using AI images. What should be done here? I'll put my own answer in the comments. submitted by /u/Geek_Smith to r/EtsySellers [link] [comments]

Buying on Etsy
Just wondering how often people buy rings/jewelry online vs in-person? I’m not the wearer, I bought these 2 rings for my now-wife cause it was so hard to find things in-person, and to customize with local shops was expensive and time consuming. I sneakily found ways to find out what kind of rings she liked, and went with this style without her knowing. I bought it on Etsy and she seems to be happy with them. Do any of you find extra value in local shops that we missed out on? A few of them did offer me lifetime-cleanings/tightening but it was like $400 extra. Just asking so I know for future jewelry gifts, as Christmas is right around the corner. submitted by /u/killr4dayzXD to r/EngagementRings [link] [comments]

BWT, How I spot fake Instagram/Etsy jewelry stores
Saw so many posts wondering about Etsy and Instagram shop legitimacy in a bunch of subs, so figured I'd share what I look for as someone who works in the industry. People get burned buying jewelry online constantly and most of it could be avoided. First thing I check is if they show their workspace or bench. Real jewelers are proud of their setup and process. All polished product shots with nothing behind the scenes is suspicious. The sneaky wording thing is massive. Tons of sellers put "14k gold" in the title then bury "plated" somewhere in the description or just don't mention it at all. Being vague about solid vs filled vs plated is intentional. Good sellers are upfront about materials. Return policies matter. Vague terms or "all sales final" on expensive pieces is a warning sign. Watch how they answer questions in comments. Detailed responses about metal purity and sourcing vs generic copy-paste replies tells you if they actually know their stuff. Reviews should exist across platforms. Only Instagram comments with nothing on Google or elsewhere means you should dig deeper. Ask about hallmarks and stamps. Real jewelers working with precious metals know this stuff cold. Can't answer means leave. Takes about 10 minutes to verify but saves you from losing money. What's your worst experience with sketchy online jewelry stores would help warn others on the sub? submitted by /u/pretty_stones5959 to r/bitcheswithtaste [link] [comments]

My lovely little sapphire planet 🪐
I want to start off by apologizing to my wonderful, patient, incredibly talented older sister, who created this ring for me. It has been a journey!! It took 9 months to hunt down the perfect sapphire, scribble out all our ideas, design it, second guess my entire existence, tweak it, tweak it some more, and finally make it a reality. I’ve been engaged to my fiance since November with a lovely, delicate ring (another of my sister’s works), but he always knew I wanted to build my own chonker with her on my own timeline. It’s been hard to be patient, but as my sister told me, beautiful things are worth the wait! She runs a small jewelry business—Kimiya Designs on Etsy (https://www.etsy.com/shop/KimiyaDesigns). The ring turned out exactly how I dreamed, down to the tiniest detail. It feels like I’m wearing a whole little world on my finger, with rings of gold orbiting around it. I keep thinking about that cat Orion in “Men in Black” with the collar 😁! There’s so much love in this ring—not just from my fiancé, but from my sister too. She took all the ideas floating in my head and turned them into something real. And she somehow managed to put up with me all these months. I’m sure this isn’t everyone’s cup of tea! People keep reacting by saying “oh, that’s so you.” How diplomatic haha! It’s a double bezel that’s polished on top and a bit more wavy & textured around the band with some twist and split shank hidden detailing below. The stone is a 2.6 carat Australian parti sapphire sourced from Earth’s Treasury (AMAZING people and amazing stones; here’s my Reddit review of them: https://www.reddit.com/r/Gemstones/s/k7tn2nWr0H). The sapphire is naturally multicolored, with a yellow core, green edges, and flashes of blue. Sometimes it’s moody, sometimes it’s super bright; it’s constantly shifting in the light. I hadn’t seen it since January, and when it arrived today, it was even more beautiful than I remembered. I’ll add more photos when the wedding band is done — that was a complicated piece that’s still in progress. It’ll be a textured gold band with a channel of colorful stones 💫. Hope you all love & enjoy this little piece!!! 🥰 submitted by /u/herpderphannah to r/EngagementRings [link] [comments]

Buying jewelry on Etsy. Advice?
Like the title says, I’m thinking of buying some 14K gold jewelry pieces on Etsy, interested in earrings and necklaces with tanzanite, alexandrite, abalone and other, less common gems. I found several US-based (well, at least they claim to be) stores with nice designs and reasonable prices. What is something I should pay attention to? As I’ve never ordered jewelry on Etsy before, I’m afraid of being scammed: what if it’s not real gold? what if gems are just glass, and so on. Buying from a typical jewelry store gives me more assurance but they have no selection or very small selection of the pieces I’m after. Help and advice are appreciated. Advice on buying jewelry on Etsy?
Hello everyone, I am hoping to buy a customized necklace for my mum's birthday. I found this etsy store earlier that sells lockets and also provide engraving services. I really love the locket designs, but I am also hesitant if it is legit, since it's my first time attempting to buy anything on Etsy. This store have it's own website and Instagram, which seems legit. But I still need some reaffirmation before I make the purchase. Since it seems a bit too good to be true for them to be offering free international shipping. submitted by /u/Mindless_Pressure173 to r/jewelry [link] [comments]

The metal items I use to make handmade jewelry for my Etsy shop are now insanely expensive or unavailable
I’m a UV resin artist, and I hand make accessories and jewelry that I sell in my Etsy shop. I just started selling my items, so I’m not turning a profit yet, but designing and making jewelry is fun for me; it keeps me motivated, and it’s one of my favorite things to do. To be honest, I sometimes feel like it’s the only thing keeping me going… So I knew these tariffs were gonna hit me hard. But I didn’t know how hard. In preparation, while I was able to stock up on UV resin and some of the metal bezels I needed, I wasn’t able to afford everything before it got too late to order. My last AliExpress order was delivered last week, and most of it was supplies for my shop, including bezels. Just now, out of curiosity, I checked my cart to see if anything had changed, and… Yeah. I noticed a couple big changes. Unfortunately, it looks like pretty much all of the bezels I usually use are now unavailable to be shipped to my location, so that’s great /s. I’m assuming it’s because it’s no longer worth it for most sellers to ship them here, between the extra weight of the items and the possibility of additional tariffs for metal items. One particular set of 6 bezels that I purchased in my last order is now listed at $67.86 with $67.21 shipping (up from $2.84 with Choice shipping just a couple weeks ago…). The craziest thing I noticed was a single sheet of metal stickers, which is currently priced at $67.29 with $80.14 shipping and import charges of nearly $7. Like, what the actual fuck?! I don’t remember the prior price but I can tell you that those stickers wouldn’t have been added to my cart if it was anything close to that. This is untenable for me. It also makes me wonder how many of these items will continue to be unavailable if/when these tariffs are lifted. Will I ever be able to buy them again? They were already getting hard to find before all of this started, so odds aren’t looking great in my favor. Anyway, I’m going to spend the rest of the night crashing out. Sending a hearty fuck you to the current US administration for most likely fucking over my shop, and for also destroying one of the only activities that I find enjoyable while living in this hellscape. And for anyone wondering, NO, I sure as hell didn’t vote for him, or for this. submitted by /u/spirandro to r/Aliexpress [link] [comments]

AITA for telling my fiancé I don’t want my Temu engagement ring?
I am NOT the Original Poster. That is u/znxncb. She posted in r/AmItheAsshole and r/AITAH. Thanks to u/BakingGiraffeBakes for the rec! Do NOT comment on Original Posts. Latest update is 7 days old. This has not been posted to this sub before. This is very much ongoing. Mood Spoiler: confusing and frustrating Original Post: September 12, 2024 My (27F) fiancé (29M) proposed to me a few weeks ago. It caught me completely by surprise, but we’ve been together for 3 years and things have been going great. So I was really excited and said yes! I really liked the ring when I first saw it and my friends and family all think it is stunning. It’s an oval cut with “diamonds” across the band. I asked where he got it and he wouldn’t tell me where, but that he got a great deal on it. I didn’t think anything of it until yesterday we were in bed and I was asked him if it was diamond or moissanite mainly out of curiosity. I don’t have a preference btw. He said he didn’t know and would have to look it up. When I glanced over at his phone, he was in the Temu app. I asked him if he got it from there and he didn’t respond. So I asked again and he responded with something like “does it matter?” and left the room and ended up sleeping on the couch. I spent all night so confused. Today decided to download the app and look up my ring and I found one that looks identical. I found the exact ring and it listed at $38. I am mad. He makes good money (200K/yr) and I feel like he could’ve shelled out some money for a ring better than one on Temu. AITA for telling him I don’t want it? OOP's Comments: OOP's thoughts: Ok I’m not mad that the diamonds are not real. But I worry about the quality of the ring because I imagined my engagement ring to at least be sturdy. It’s fine for now, but I have a hard time believing it’ll last longer than a year if it’s $38 on Temu! Commenter: NTA bc that thing might turn your finger green. He’s lucky you don’t have a sensitivity to fake metals like some do. He makes good money but bought a $38 ring. Is he cheap with other things where this discount shopping isn’t a new thing for him and he’s just an all around penny pincher? My first thought was, did he not spend the money bc he doesn’t want/expect this to last? OOP: Yeah let me provide some more context: Really he’s never been overly frugal, I’m probably more frugal than he is. Neither of us are huge spenders but we each make enough to not have to strictly budget or anything. We have our own accounts and split rent equally. I know he has at least 100k across his savings/investment accounts. We go out for drinks a few times a week and will go to concerts together and whatnot frequently. We travel a few times a year and stay in basic accommodations. Ugh. Like our DoorDash the other night was $40. My ring costs less than Doordashing dinner Commenter: You are NTA but what we all really want to know is whether or not you would still marry him if he replaces the ring. OOP: The responses to this have made me even more confused. People saying it could be a loyalty test, that he doesn’t want me to be able to sell it if we divorce, or that he doesn’t plan to be with me for long. I have a pit in my stomach. I haven’t considered breaking things off but that was before I wrote this here. I was thinking maybe he was just not thinking or rushed getting the ring, or maybe he genuinely thought he was getting a great deal on a high quality ring. I’m not sure at this point. I plan to confront him when he gets back from work in a couple hours. 🫠 The ring itself: The response to this is just absolutely insane, sorry I’m having a hard time keeping up with responses. A few of y’all want to see the ring so here it is if you want to look it up. I’m still waiting for him to get home. Seller: LVZ GEM “1ct Moissanite Ring Women’s Wedding Band Suitable For Banquet Party Official Occasion Holiday Valentine’s Day Proposal Engagement Wedding Gift Anniversary Gift Birthday Gift With Certificate” I guess it technically is Moissanite? OOP's post was removed before a verdict was rendered, but top comments were NTA Update Post: September 12, 2024 (6 hours later) After reading responses from my first post on the AITA subreddit (it got taken down) I was freaking out a bit. He came home while I was FaceTiming a friend about this. I hung up with her and then talked to him for an hour or so. He apologized for sleeping on the couch and that he needed time to think. He doesn’t see eye to eye with me on my concerns about the ring and says he did research and that it was highly rated. He says if the ring breaks he will replace it (but didn’t say it’d be higher quality). I have people messaging me that the ring could be harmful to my health and that Temu has horrible standards for their jewelry and labor issues so now I really don’t want to wear it. He left and went to his brother’s house. Usually I’d go with him but things are just tense. AITA for telling him I still don’t want it? Some of OOP's comments: Commenter: Kind of tough, because had you not found out it was from Temu, would you be upset? OOP: Tbh. If I hadn’t found out it was from Temu I probably wouldn’t be upset. But when it inevitably breaks or tarnishes the truth would come out. Now that I know it has completely changed how I feel about the ring even if it aesthetically doesn’t look to bad. Commenter: Did this come as a shock or is he normally cheap and thoughtless? OOP: He’s not normally cheap or thoughtless. He’s genuinely a great guy which is making this harder to navigate. he started making me feel really guilty and materialistic today when we talked about this and I can see his point of view but I’m just confused. It feels like Temu is the bottom of the barrel. I’d be happy with a cheap decent quality ring from Etsy or anywhere else. I don’t really care about the price itself it’s more about the quality and feeling like he doesn’t really value me the way I thought he did. OOP addresses several commenters asking if he thinks she is a gold digger- this was her most comprehensive response: I want to clear up these gold digger rumors bc this isn’t only about the cost of the ring. I only mention these things for context not bc I feel he owes me something in return. When I met him, I was making just over 100k and he was working part time and doing an internship bringing in significantly less than me. He totaled his car early on in our relationship and I happily drove him to his work every morning on the way to my work when he didn’t have a car. When his mom got sick and went on hospice, I immediately canceled all of my travel plans and holiday plans with my family and sat with him visiting her every day for months. I helped with funeral arrangements. I helped plan his brother’s wedding. I even loaned him money for a new car once he started his new job (he did pay me back btw). He moved in with me recently and most everything in the home is mine that I paid for prior to the relationship (furniture, etc). I have paid for so many plane tickets for our travels, concert tickets, etc. that I’ve never asked him to pay back and never will. That’s what a relationship is. I genuinely care for him. He has done similar gestures for me and is more than willing to spend money on dates. Believe it or not I’m not this greedy woman sitting here excited to get his money. I have my own. Have they ever been ring shopping: We never went ring shopping. The proposal was a surprise to me. We’d casually discussed getting married in the future for the past year or so but he never asked my taste in rings so I was kinda thinking that’d happen before the engagement. I actually like the style of the ring but now that I know it’s from Temu I can’t look at it the same way. Mini Update Comment: 4 hours later I’m literally just sitting here refreshing your comments trying to figure out what to do next. He texted to let me know he plans at staying at his brother’s for the weekend and is taking Friday off. It’s not crazy abnormal since he’s been watching football over there, but I feel like he’s avoiding me now. I’m trying not to be pushy about the situation and I’ll give him some space but ugh. now I’m just in my head about all of it and regretting my initial reaction. It’s just a dumb ring and maybe I’ve read into it too much. The only other time we’ve had an argument like this it was resolved within a couple hours so I’m not used to this behavior from him Update 2 (Same Post): September 13, 2024 (Next Day) Update: He came home this morning while I was in a WFH meeting. These comments made my head spin all night. I got like 3 hours of sleep so I admit I may be in the wrong for bringing up his finances but I did. Re: the gold digger rumors, when we met I was making more than him and often paying for his things, his high paying job is a recent development. I have my own money and don’t need his. I asked him what was going on, if there was anything he needed to tell me, if he was “testing me” by doing this… Well that really set him off. “What kind of person do you think I am? You think I’m a cheapskate? A liar? You obviously think really poorly of me”… but STILL he never gave me a reason. So I asked why he was deflecting every question to victimize himself and to avoid my questions. He tried to leave AGAIN. So I tried deescalating and told him I see where he’s coming from but I need to know if he still loves me. He was immediately apologetic and still wants to get married. He said I can just pick my ring out and buy it with my own money. He said he’s sick of talking about this and it’s “water under the bridge” now. He’s acting like his normal self again since this convo. I hear him out there skipping around and humming to himself all happily and it’s actually pissing me off. Maybe I’m being dramatic, but I don’t think I can handle a marriage with someone like this. submitted by /u/LucyAriaRose to r/BestofRedditorUpdates [link] [comments]

Now that my parents have passed, is it okay to no longer want most of their personal items?
I settled both of my parents estates. They both passed within two years of each other six years ago. They had been divorced for decades and each had homes filled with a life’s worth of possessions. It took weeks to go through each of their properties. I had a fire sale, numerous yard sales, listed things for free on Craigslist and sold things on eBay and Etsy. I also gifted (crystal/fine China/designer goods) to close friends and relatives. It was physically and emotionally exhausting. Since then, I whittled everything down to a few personal things from each of them that I chose to keep and still have. But, recently, I have begun to get rid of even those personal effects. I no longer want my mom’s old bible, or, her diamond wedding ring from my dad (which I have had since they divorced back in the 80’s). I no longer want the copious amounts of photos and extensive journals my dad left about his world travels. I don’t know why, but the longer I have these things, the less I want to hold on to them and don’t feel bad about getting rid of them. Pretty soon I will probably have nothing other than a few photos of them left. Update: I’d like to thank everyone for advising on the possibility of donating my late dad’s journals. Having an outside perspective gave me the push I needed to start looking into organizations that might be interested in taking them for historical purposes. Same with my mom’s jewelry. I can repurpose some of it for more modern wear and leave my kids with whatever they choose. If they don’t want any of it yet, I will just hold onto it for them as they may just come around as they get older. Losing both parents has been an incredibly difficult part of my life but I realize that I am not the only one who this happens too. We all grieve differently but it’s definitely beneficial to share your feelings, so that you may have a different perspective on moving forward. submitted by /u/roxywalker to r/needadvice [link] [comments]

My girlfriend is turning 21 and wants me (21M) to throw her a party. How do I break the news that no one will show up?
DO NOT COMMENT ON LINKED POSTS. I am NOT OP. Original post by u/Birthdayparties4 in r/relationships trigger warnings: depression suicide lack of friends mood spoilers: sad My girlfriend is turning 21 and wants me (21M) to throw her a party. How do I break the news that no one will show up? - August 13, 2015 Birthdays have always been hard on my girlfriend. She's had a few parties as a child where no one showed up, and since moving states in the middle of high school she hasn't made close friends. Here at college, she tries hard to make friends. She talks well to people on a superficial basis but doesn't have any real friends. She's never been invited to a college party and has often missed out on many typical activities. We've been together for 3 years, since freshman orientation. I don't have friends but I'm happy that way. I like keeping to myself if I'm not spending time with her. Since she's naturally extroverted, she spends her free time with me, or at club meetings trying to connect to people. She's asked if I could put together a small party so I invited some acquaintances, my roommates, etc. everyone said no. I gave the invites well in advance too. I don't know how to break the news to my girlfriend, she's been so excited. She thought providing free food and drink would be a great way to make friends. But people don't want to come for even that. What can I do? tl;dr: My friendly but friendless girlfriend wanted me to throw a 21st birthday party for her, but no one accepted. How do I still make this a special day? How do I tell her without crushing her? **UPDATE: My girlfriend is turning 21 and wants me (21M) to throw her a party. How do I break the news that no one will show up? ** - August 14, 2015 OP: https://www.reddit.com/r/relationships/comments/3guzht/my_girlfriend_is_turning_21_and_wants_me_21m_to/ I logged into facebook at like 2 AM last night and my girlfriend has posted a message on the party event wall saying the party was cancelled. She saw the no-shows before I could let her know about it. I called her and suggested some other activities we could do, things like amusement parks or concerts or taking a cooking class. I thought she'd like all those ideas. "No thank you." We were kinda quiet over the phone, until she asked me in a really small voice if I could come over. We met outside her dorm at like 3 in the morning. She was crying, as I expected. But it was just watery eyes, not full on sobs how she usually cries. "It's okay," she said. "Some people aren't meant to have friends." I told her she was exaggerating, that she just needs to look in different places, etc. She shook her head. "No, I'm done." This morning at breakfast we passed a lot of mutual acquaintances. Usually my girlfriend smiles and says hello. Today she just kept her eyes on the pavement, not looking at anyone. She barely ate. But other than that she seemed like her normal self with me, talking and laughing. She just wouldn't look at anyone else. She told me how she's going to use this extra time to get better in her classes, to work on her jewelry and maybe open an etsy shop. To read more books. I asked her if this is really what she wanted. "No, but life doesn't always give you what you want. I didn't want to be an engineer. I didn't want to live in a basement alone. I didn't want to hate college and wish every day that I could drop out. But you make the best of it." Her voice was breaking as she said this, but she didn't cry. She left the breakfast table after that and said she wanted to be alone. Where the hell do I go from here? Her actual birthday is tomorrow (we were throwing the party a week later) and she insists she doesn't want to do anything. Is it bad that part of me sort of agreed with her, that some people aren't meant to make friends? I don't think I am, but obviously she wants friends and it's making her miserable. tl;dr: Girlfriend canceled party, said she didn't want to do anything for her birthday, and announced that she's given up on finding friends. She isn't going back to any of her clubs or activities, and is going to focus on her studies and hobbies this coming year. Her actual 21st birthday is tomorrow. Where do I go from here? EDIT: I am sitting with her in her dorm room right now. She's on the bed reading, I'm on the couch minding my own business, just being near her. She is okay. UPDATE 2: My girlfriend is turning 21 and wants me to throw her a party. How do I (21M) tell her that no one will show up? - August 15, 2015 - Recovered by user u/HeimrArnadalr from Google cache Short update here. I stayed with my girlfriend for a while last night. She just read a book and didn't talk much. I cuddled her a bit, but she mostly wanted space. This morning, I came to her room with flowers and a gift. She accepted the flowers with a smile. She told me she wanted to go home to her parents this weekend. I was pretty sad about that, I wanted to make her feel loved and special. But she said she needed to get off campus for a bit, so I said okay. I took her to the bus stop, said goodbye, and now here I am. She did love the present though. It was a book she'd been wanting for a while. Hopefully she'll feel better when she comes back. tl;dr Girlfriend went home for her birthday. UPDATE 3: My girlfriend is turning 21 and wants me (21M) to throw her a party. How do I tell her that no one will show up? - October 22, 2015 Op: https://www.reddit.com/r/relationships/comments/3guzht/my_girlfriend_is_turning_21_and_wants_me_21m_to/ Update 1: https://www.reddit.com/r/relationships/comments/3gz677/update_my_girlfriend_is_turning_21_and_wants_me/ Update 2: https://www.reddit.com/r/relationships/comments/3h5ae6/update_2_my_girlfriend_is_turning_21_and_wants_me/ Anyway, the school year is in full swing and she cries all the time. At least three times a week, if not more. She feels like she's taking advantage of my kindness so she tries not to cry in front of me. She's completely abandoned the search to find friends, and doesn't go out except for food, class, etc. There are happy moments too, and she'll still go out with me, but she just seems fragmented over all. She actually did pursue therapy at our university, because she felt like she really needed someone to talk to that wasn't me. They informed her that all the spots they had were full and that unless she was a suicide risk they didn't have room. Heartless, right? It really made her feel bad, but she didn't want to lie and say she was a suicide risk. She feels lonelier than ever. There's no doubt in my mind that she's depressed. She pours all her energy into schoolwork and hasn't really touched her hobbies much, either. She can't afford therapy other than the university, and they won't give it to her. Is there any way she can get the help she needs? tl;dr: My girlfriend's depression is getting worse, she tried to get therapy and was informed that she couldn't. Is there anything she/we can do? AITA for telling my wife nobody cares about her small business?
My wife (27F) owns an Etsy shop where she sells handmade jewelry. She has some real talent and the jewelry she sells is genuinely very nice and high quality. She gets a surprising amount of sales on there too, and has great reviews. The issue is that EVERYWHERE we go, EVERY conversation she has, she slips in something about her shop and tries to promote it. Talking to a friend? She'll casually mention a big sale she made or a custom order she got and not-very-subtly mention that she'd give her friend a coupon or something similar. Talking to our waiter? She'll mention that she has a pair of earrings on her shop that would compliment their eyes. Talking to someone online? She'll somehow manage to say "as the owner of a small business.." She literally cannot have a conversation anywhere with anyone without trying to sell them her jewelry. The other day was a family member's birthday, and they were having a decently-sized get-together with just other family members and a few close friends. I went with my wife, and she's a pretty social person even outside of promoting her shop so she was quickly making conversation with my family. Of course not 5 minutes later she was showing someone the bracelet she had on that she made and mentioning that she sells them and talking about how since they were family she would happily give them a 25% discount. She probably had that exact same conversation with at least 5 people during the 2 hours we were there. As soon as we left I spoke to her and said she needs to quit doing that. I told her if people were actually interested, they would ask her about her store, but not every single person she talks to wants or needs to hear about her art. She got upset and said that she just wants to spread her product and doesn't see what she's doing wrong and hasn't spoken to me much since. I feel like I'm the asshole since I will admit I had a pretty harsh tone and could've been a lot nicer during that conversation, plus I get she's just trying to sell her products, even if it gets obnoxious. Favorite Etsy Jewelry Designers?
I’ve stopped purchasing jewelry in stores over the last few years — continuously disappointed by quality and identical styles, especially with sooo many creative small-batch jewelry designers on Etsy. Figured we could share some of our favorites, as well as any experiences you had with the items (shipping, how well it’s held up, etc). I’ll go first! Atrio https://www.etsy.com/shop/Atrio Portuguese tile-inspired in modern silhouettes. I LOVE this shop. Purchased for myself and my mom & sister for their birthdays. Super lightweight and comfortable! Crescent Moon Creations https://www.etsy.com/shop/Crescentmooncreatio Stumbled upon this designer from an IG post and ordered a pair of celestial dangly earrings on a whim. Blown away by quality and get compliments all the time. Amber & Stone https://www.etsy.com/shop/ShopAmberandStone Suuuper pretty polymer clay designs. Haven’t ordered yet but have half their inventory in my saved for later list. submitted by /u/SwitchEfficient4999 to r/femalefashionadvice [link] [comments]

How many of Etsy jewelry shops are actually selling handmade jewelry?
I was looking at Etsy’s jewelry section earlier and noticed that a lot of the jewelry was just rings or other jewelry that look like they were bought on ali express or other wholesale websites and are being sold. So how much of the jewelry on here is actually handmade? submitted by /u/PapiEggsy to r/Etsy [link] [comments]

I asked for a raise and was told to “ask god.”
I’ve been working for a year and a half at minimum wage - no raise, no bonus incentives, but have been asked to “keep up the good work.” I’ve given my two week notice and it was denied. Asked for a raise and they said god will help those that ask for it. I am a single mother of one that lives in Hometown USA where $11 an hour is suppose to get the average family by - I’ve been denied food stamps and I’m severely depressed with xmas on the way and my student loans flooding back to having to be paid. I’ve applied for other jobs in my town, but have yet to hear back from any of them. What am I doing wrong in life to deserve such misery? Edit: I don’t have the time to reply to everyone, so here’s some more clarity for what it’s worth - when I was going to quit, I had something lined up but turned it down after I was convinced to stay - this was in the beginning of the year - they did fix the problem for me wanting to quit, but I didn’t get a raise and was told to “bring in more business.” It’s hard to bring in more business when the owners have slowly killed their business by, you guessed it, treating people poorly and they’re former employees like trash. As stated previously, I live in a small town where jobs are few and far between - I don’t have enough money saved to put a down payment and move somewhere a little larger. For those asking why I stayed - they “needed” me. They were again, going over to see their child in another country, but they were only going to be gone for x-amount of weeks, which was not the case. They were gone 3 months, back for a month, and left again. They just got back and are, I’m sure of it, planning to go over again in the beginning of the year, which would leave me stuck in the same position. I am actively looking for new work, and it seems like I might have to travel an hour each way for work, which isn’t ideal for the impending weather, but obviously, you gotta do what you gotta do. I’m also going to do something that I’ve been wanting to do for a long time, which is open an Etsy store after I have crafted a few things to put up. For those asking about the food stamp situation - I really don’t understand it myself, and was appalled to get the denial letter in the mail - I’m going to reapply, guessing that the good ole state I live in yet again messed up on their end. I’m thankful for food pantries and family that can help me when I’m low on funds. Thank you random internet strangers for helping me on this burden. I was really looking for some cheap laughs to keep my spirits up, but many of you are very insightful and I appreciate it. Off to get my shit together. submitted by /u/Rhubarbecue- to r/antiwork [link] [comments]
