Thank you for the lovely comments and support from everyone! So I saw a lot of questions about both how I lost my eye, and wether it impacts my work as an illustrator. It's hard for me to keep up with individual comments/threads, I try to limit screen time due to eye fatigue with my work as an illustrator and light sensitivity -but I'd live to answer those questions here. So, my loss of depth perception cost me to lose the ability to work like I used to, and I had to re learn a few things with different techniques. The colour palettes, shading techniques and line work has changed a lot since vision loss, as my left eye was actually my strongest one. I also struggle to cook, due to the same issue with depth perception and slicing stuff - don't want to lose a finger too lmaoo. I would actually love to do a video about the difference in my art before and after vision loss! But as for how I lost the eye, it was an unfortunate situation due to glaucoma caused by a medical error that was the result of a misdiagnosis and underlying health issues that people overlooked. submitted by /u/Xochitlcoyote to r/funny [link] [comments]

My son is 14 years old and about a month ago and unfortunately was in an accident that left him permanently blind in his left eye. Otherwise he's uninjured. I can't imagine how he feels about it. Losing a part of you like that and being unable to do the sports he loved playing anymore. While it was healing the doctors had him cover it up to help the process. Now that the medical stuff is off he told me that he wanted to wear an eye patch to cover it up. I told him that I didn't want him to feel the need to be self conscious about it and that he should just accept himself. We ended the conversation there for the time being. The topic came back up again after another week of him being in school, he told me he was tired of the other kids looking at him and asking him about it. I told him that that wouldn't go away with an eye patch and would probably warrant even more questions from people. He got mad at me for not letting him do it and said that I was crazy not just going with it. I think it's best if he just keeps it as it is. Currently at the top of r/houseplants is a post about a beautiful embroidered monstera patch, sat at nearly 17k upvotes, with the OP in the comments discussing how they used a machine to create this "physical" patch. Someone pointed out that the image looked suspicious so I did a quick search on Midjourney (an AI image generator) and found the source of the image. This is a tool in which you can feed it text or images and it will spit out a completely new image for you, in this case "embroidered monstera plant patch, hand-stitched nature leaves colorful" created the image that was posted. (You can see the batch of AI generated images here) I don't care to come after the OP with this post, each to their own. But I just thought it's a pretty good opportunity to shine some light on the impacts of this new technology. As we're living through a time where it's becoming harder and harder to spot the difference between fake and reality it's important to remember to stay alert.
