Ran into a Facebook marketplace place scammer today. Be careful when you’re buying a 3ds online!
Their someone on the Facebook marketplace selling a New 3ds xl for $80. It came with the charger and a travel case. I saw this as a steal and the seller was only 10 miles away from me. In the description, it was only a “message me on my phone number if you’re interested”, I had a feeling this was a scam but I messaged anyway. Long story short, it was a scammer. The seller saying they’re a truck driver and quoting the Bible randomly is so sketchy. submitted by /u/Littleoemmett to r/3DS [link] [comments]

Advice on selling on Facebook Marketplace.
I do mostly eBay. And sell niche stuff, game stuff, nerd stuff, tools, kids stuff, car parts, and clothes mostly, and other household items, random electronics. I hardly ever have any luck on Facebook marketplace and have recently added shipping and I feel like it’s gotten worse. Literally no shipping buys or local inquiries since I’ve added. What happened to Facebook marketplace?
Is it just me? Or has Facebook marketplace been dead for everybody… I’ve been selling on Facebook marketplace for a very long time and I have always done exceptionally well, right now I have over 100 listings and 99 5.0 star reviews. I barely get any messages or interest in my items, but before I was getting blown up off the wall… I’ve basically been selling the same things, I highly doubt it’s what I’m selling. But, I could be wrong… Just seems like I’ve gotten way more attention before on my listings when I’ve had less posted. So has it been dead for everybody? Or is it just me, or my area? I also understand people don’t have a lot of extra spending money right now, but still it just doesn’t add up. I was scammed on facebook marketplace
Yesterday, I was searching for a new phone and came across an iPhone for about $210. This was my first time on Facebook marketplace personally, but I’m aware of the scams that can happen on there. I asked if the item was still available and it was confirmed to be. I said that I would buy it later on that day (as this was at 8AM) and then looked through the woman’s profile. She looks to be maybe 40, but she has a personal life with pictures from previous years so I didn’t suspect her to be a scam. When it came time to purchase the phone, I did through Facebook itself and then notified the seller so that she’d be made aware. She then canceled it and asked if I was okay with using cashapp to pay because the last time she sold something on the app, she had many issues. I first said that it was sketchy, but then after sending her my cash app information she sent me money so that I’d be willing to pay. Stupidly, I did and I’ve been blocked on facebook ever since. This wouldn’t be much of an issue if I wasn’t a high school student working minimum wage, but I don’t want this to be what throws me over the edge.I’ve already contacted cashapp and sent reports to both them and Facebook, but after looking online I feel like my chances of getting my money back are -12 . Please help 🙏🏽 submitted by /u/Genuinely-curious- to r/Scams [link] [comments]

Is Facebook Marketplace completely dead in 2026 or is the algorithm just hating me?
I’ve been selling stuff on FB Marketplace for years mostly small/medium items like electronics, collectibles, random household things. Up until maybe mid-2025 it was still decent… not amazing, but I could usually get a few views and some messages within a day or two. Fast forward to now: I’ve posted 10 different items over the last 3 weeks. - All are priced fairly (checked “sold” comps) - Good photos (multiple angles, decent lighting) - Detailed descriptions, no weird typos - Renewed a couple of them Result? Every single one is sitting at 0 views. Not low views. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Not even the accidental “your mom scrolled past it” view. Then yesterday out of pure frustration I said screw it and posted one of the same items (a $45 retro game console bundle) on TikTok with a quick 15-second video. Same photos + me talking for 10 seconds. No fancy editing. Within a day it had 500+ views and I already have 2 people in my DMs asking if it’s still available. So… what the hell is going on with FB Marketplace in 2026? submitted by /u/wakablazer to r/FacebookMarketplace [link] [comments]

Strange Facebook Marketplace purchase
I found a strange Facebook Marketplace listing for an estate sale with over 2800 DVDs, about an hour and a half away from where I live. The picture in the ad was pixelated and showed no specific titles. I decided I would take a chance and go for it. After agreeing on a price with the seller he boxed them up and put them out by the garage. Something about the entire situation felt off, but I couldn’t sleep and ended up driving down at 4 AM to grab everything knowing it was just sitting outside possibly getting rained on. The next day, I started unpacking and sorting through the haul, only to discover something pretty wild...the seller had detailed the actresses and even listed the type of nudity in each movie. Watch the video to see what I ended up finding. submitted by /u/awesomekidhero to r/Weird [link] [comments]

Just got scammed out of $1.8k on Facebook marketplace
I was selling a chain on Facebook Marketplace for $2k and someone offered me $1.8k for it and I said that was fine. When they came to pick it up he counted the money in front of me and took the chain and drove off. I walked into my house only to find “REPLICA” printed on all the bills. He immediately blocked me and there’s nothing I can do about it. I needed that money. UPDATE: I made a report after being able to find his last name, if it’s even real. My mom and I scrolled the name on fb from her account forever and couldn’t find him anywhere so I’m assuming he complete deleted it. But I gave the most descriptive description of him and his car that I could to the police given we only spoke for a solid 3 minutes and a claim was made so I’m hoping one of the neighbors had a camera or something to catch his license plate. Thanks everyone for the advice:,) submitted by /u/stargirl_lexis to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

Last time I ever use Facebook Marketplace
Not long ago I listed some fish tanks on Facebook Marketplace. My husband and I were in need of some extra cash for medical bills, and I was getting out of the aquarium hobby. They were all in decent condition. No real wear on them, and the majority of them came with more than just the tank. I had no issues selling the other 4 I had put up, so I expected no different when selling this 6 gallon tank. I’ll include the actual listing as well. For some backstory, prior to speaking to this person, I had been in and out of the house that day with a sick dog. I had just finished cleaning up after my dog, (the kennel, my walls, my carpet…) so I was exhausted. I was out with my husband picking up some things to help calm my pups tummy, and it was about 8:30 pm. This person messaged me, interested in the tank and wanting to pick it up that night. I let him know that would be fine, but that I wouldn’t be home until probably 9:30, so he could swing by then after. I get home at about 9/9:30 ish, and my poor pup has had another accident this time with quite impressive aim. I end up having to give him another bath, and clean everything again. While in the midst of that, this person wants to pick up the tank still so I let him know he could pick it up off our front porch and venmo me for it. I know, stupid, but I was under the impression that the VERY visible cameras would deter any ill will. I didn’t finish cleaning until probably 10/11 pm, and by that point the person had said they wouldn’t get off work for another 15. I thought it’d be fine, assuming he would just pick up the tank and venmo me when he eventually showed up. Well, I’m here so obviously I was wrong. Next morning, I’m heading out to work. I noticed no venmo, so I assumed he didn’t end up picking it up. Of course when I walked out my porch and saw the tank missing I realized he took it. I messaged him, and we go back and forth for 3 full days. Well, the rest is pretty evident so I’ll let y’all read the screenshots. To end, yes, I did get my $35.00. submitted by /u/New_Cod9006 to r/mildlyinfuriating [link] [comments]

Facebook Marketplace Sex Work
Ok. I've been developing a theory for some time. Maybe it's well known. I didn't research this at all, it's just been coming to me. A while back, I saw an ad for some piece of women's clothing on Facebook Marketplace. I wasn't looking for that at all, but it was in the feed. The woman had a figure like my wife's and looked damn good in it, so I clicked it. Decided against getting it for her, though. I've been increasingly getting more and more women's clothing showing up in my feed. Sometimes, it's harmless. Sometimes, she is posing in a very sexual manner. The cost of these items seem odd... Some are logical and some aren't. The sexual ones seem the most off. For example, if a woman is modeling Christmas socks, it's not weird and the socks cost two dollars. If the woman is selling a mini skirt and showing off her butt, however, it's $75? I think the sexual poses are sex workers and the poses mean something and the price is the cost of the sex act. For fun, I just clicked on a "little black dress." Then I clicked on her reviews... Every single customer of her women's clothing was a man. All five stars. None ever made reference to clothing on the review. They all have odd comments that are double entendres... I think I'm right... Thoughts? submitted by /u/vbullinger to r/conspiracy [link] [comments]
