Hi- I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this or if there is a forum for room rentals. I live in a historic farmhouse on Quaker property in Upper Makefield/Yardley area. I’m a 30 year old female musician and music therapist, and work part-time in NYC. It’s a 2 bed/ 1 bath and I am renting the downstairs bedroom out. Mostly furnished, except the bedroom for rent, though I have furniture that could probably work! I am prioritizing young creative types, particularly those interested in living communally. We have a 1900s farmhouse with a super awkward living room layout. The TV needs to be to the left of the fireplace for power and to not be over the fireplace. I suppose it could go on the bottom wall in this rendering. Currently it’s to the left of the fireplace in front of the gray chair. The right side of the fireplace has a window. The main entry way of the house is at the bottom of the stairs and is a main thru-way. I highlighted the path of travel in red. How can I rearrange things to be more intentional? The only piece of furniture we are set on is the gray chair and ottoman, but it can be moved around. All new furniture would be fine except that. I’d love built-in storage. Need so much storage. Hello all Just moved in a month ago, and am looking to redesign my living room. I dont want to do any (construction) work, can paint however not for a few months due to humidity and cold weather in my country. Am looking for a shabby farmhouse cozy style, i have a lot of wood tones. The living room opens up to the dining area and is seperated from the kitchen by an arched wall. Recently moved in, I'm struggling to like the couch with the shutters. I feel partially it's due to the cool wall colors conflicting with the warm tone of the couch and the couch size. 3rd picture is the blue I originally was going to paint the entire living room walls with but I'm now second-guessing that and leaning more towards a cream color on top half, blue on the bottom half. We bought this gorgeous farmhouse with old original wooden ceilings which I LOVE. I don’t love the carpet and weve considered putting in hardwood, but it is nice to have a comfy floor to lay on. I feel like there is too much gray/green going on with the sofa + carpet + beige walls. The lighting in this room is also tricky. It has multiple windows but they are all looking out on covered porches so the room doesn’t get much direct light. So I took your advice and painted it to match the walls . I think it looks way better now , it did make the living room a bit pale , but now I can add colors that I want into the space without them clashing with the outrageously red column I think the pictures didn’t really showed how red it really was , I also loved the old farmhouse vibes but that was just too much What do you guys think? I currently have a rug in my living room that I love, mainly because it’s a happy rug. The problem is that it’s too small and our dogs have stained it up abit. I’ve been looking for a replacement and was hoping to get some advice and overall input on rug options for this space. I posted here a while ago about winning the floor lottery in the adjacent (former) master bedroom / (now) living room. We’re a year on from finishing these spaces, and I’m feeling grateful about how far we’ve come… so I thought I’d share with others who might appreciate too! Under the linoleum was some pretty busted up variable width pine floor, indicating the space had once been 2 small rooms and since had the dividing wall taken down. We replaced it with wide pine boards that a fella in VT had milled after clearing some trees for a house. We repainted the entire space. And we installed a Vermont castings stove since the existing fireplace was, of course, not up to code!
