I got a Ferret in August of this year and I am regretting.
I thought I really wanted my Ferret back in August. I started working for a pet store in the last year, I had grown attached to one particular ferret in the store but he was later bought. Someone then surrendered a Ferret to the store. The pervious owners surrendered him because he is 5 and is nearing end of life, they didn't want to deal with him passing away. It made me sick to my stomach he was an old man and just sitting back there in the back by himself. Also they were not taking very good care of him at all. I did a lot of research and spoke with my partner about buying him and he said he would give it a try. I was speaking coworkers who themselves owned a few ferrets and they said it wouldn't be as bad as they say online. So I decided to get him and his name was Atticus or Adi for short. When he came home in early august everything was fine and my partner was not pleased with the natural odors from Adi but i kind of made the solution of having his temporary set up around an air purifier and a window cracked. I have another animal and they were getting along but they were weary of each other. (dm me further about their interactions because its a sensitive topic). So he was not potty trained and my partner was really upset with it. I was trying to potty train him but I got a full time position at my job as I was part time before. My partner and I were not home much to keep up with the training as my partner works a demanding job . So every time I have time to let him out he was peeing and pooping everywhere and my partner and I are stepping in something. Consequently, with both of us not being home he was not let out of his cage often. After having him for only 4 and half months I am having serious regrets because I am not giving him the best quality of life, I thought was going to be able to provide. He is also by himself and I know Ferrets can become depressed when being alone but I cannot afford to get another ferret for him. I really need some advice because I am at a cross roads here. I really do not want any negativity or judgement because I sincerely thought I was doing a good thing but now I am regretting it and so is my partner for agreeing. SORRY FOR BEING SO LONG. I am trying to give as much context as possible so I can get the best advice. Please and thanks for advice. Found a ferret on the side of the road
I found a ferret or the side of the road this morning. I tucked him in a dog crate with cat food, water, a blanket, and litter box then ran back out to go to work. I have some experience with ferrets from when I was a teenager (10 years ago) but I’m starting to get concerned about this little guy. He’s very friendly but on the skinny side. I’m posting all over local pages to try to find his owner but I suspect he may have been dumped. He has been sleeping all day and seems a bit lethargic. He hasn’t eaten or drank water or used the bathroom since I found him this morning (10am). Almost 12 hours now and I know ferrets have high metabolism. We offered him cat food, chicken, steak, raw egg and beef, soaked cat food. Tomorrow I will be able to pickup ferret food and see if there’s anything else I can try. Of course it’s a holiday weekend so all the vets are closed. There’s a ferret vet nearby but they aren’t open until Tuesday. Do you have any advice or suggestions for how I can help this little guy? Or is he just resting after a big adventure and I’m worrying too much? I plan to give him a home if no one claims him. He’s such a sweetheart! submitted by /u/zealousfluxus to r/ferrets [link] [comments]

*NSFW* I stepped on my ferret
I feel so fucking awful. I ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS check to see if theyre hidden in blankets/clothes on the ground and i was so caught up with my other ferret floyd (just was told he has a few weeks left) that i completely forget and stepped on maxwell. shortly after he peed blood and i immediately called the vets. they said the only time they have opened for the emergency er is 5:30 or later so i took 5:30. i tried calling other places but they wouldnt be able to take max until next week. i feel so guilty and terrible. I know things happen but i should had been more cautious. im hoping that the time in between now and the vets doesnt cause anymore damage. I know this can be very fatal. please send prayers. submitted by /u/pissb4by to r/ferrets [link] [comments]

Am I crazy or is this a completely safe interaction between animals. I know they are different species but they have literally never fought and the closest thing that dog has ever had to a friend was a ferret that died 5 years ago, I get the worry when they play but she is literally just there and she gets out of his way.
