Hi, I wasn’t able to find a clear answer online, so I’m reaching out here. I’m using a Govee-to-MQTT integration in Home Assistant to control my TV backlight (DreamView T1, model H6199). Right now, I can turn the led lights on and off without any issue. What I’d like to achieve is: When the TV turns off → set the backlight to a static white color When the TV turns on → switch the backlight back to TV synchronization mode I’ve managed to get part of this working, but I’m stuck on one thing: I can’t switch the mode back to “TV Synchronization” through Home Assistant. It only works from the Govee app. Has anyone managed to control this mode via MQTT or Home Assistant? Any pointers would be really appreciated. Somewhat recently decided to move around all the room purposes in my basement and have this room be a dedicated home theater room. A lot of firsts where the TV wall there was an alcove on the right side so had to learn how to build out the wall to make a closet. Then ventured in building the riser myself. All relatively easy and good projects/learning. Next thing I would like to do maybe end of the year or early next is upgrade the 77" C1 to an 83" C6H or G6. Equipment: 7.2.4 System Denon X3700H Subwoofers (with minidsp 2x4 HD) - PSA TV21NEO-M FL/FR - RP-8000F II C - RP-504C II Surrounds- RP-600M Atmos - CDT-5800-C II TV - LG C1 77" Chairs - Seatcraft Diamante latest revision All lights are Philips Hue or Govee which I have automations in home assistant and the Sofabaton X2 remote to control it all. And the curtains use Aqara Curtain drivers to open and close when I start an activity as well as ikea smart shades for extra darkening during the day. If this has been asked before, please direct me to where it has been asked as I can't find it myself. I am looking at the Govee RGBWW Wi-Fi LED to replace my current dying lights. How well do these integrate into home assistant. I already have govee rgb strips and love that one. Does this integrate similar? And if anyone has any experience, how are the bulbs longevity. Do they work for a long time and are they worth it? Edit: Because of one person getting upset over me not saying the names of the old bulbs, it doesn't matter here. Has anyone used the the little E12 bulbs with HomeKit? I have to outdoor fixtures that take regular bulbs but the fixtures are small so I’m limited what kind of bulbs fit. I got the govee candle bulbs and they paired fine in the Govee app but don’t want to connect to HomeKit. I managed to get one to pair after like a dozen attempts but the response to controlling them was so slow that they were useless. I returned them and bout another box and it’s the same issue. I actually haven’t gotten any of them to connect to HomeKit yet but it was no problem to pair them in the Govee app. The issue I have is that I want both of them to work with automations through home kit. One when I open and close the garage door and the other with a motion sensor. I generally stay away from bulbs in favour of smart switches but neither of these fixtures have switches (long story) so my only option is finding a smart bulb that fits and can be controlled by automations or replace the fixtures which are less than a year old and look great. I (33F) have supported my older sister financially for years. To date, I’ve spent approx. $25k helping her with bills and her kids. She’s lived with me rent-free multiple times, and I currently pay the insurance on the car she drives (which is in my name). It feels shitty bringing it all up because I’ve never asked for or wanted repayment; I just wanted to help my family, but it feels like context for how much I’ve put into being a good sister. In 2021, she was getting married and asked me to be her MOH. I went all out. I paid for her Nashville bachelorette trip for her and the bridal party. I also paid for her dream wedding dress, veil, and storage bag because my parents (who were supposed to split it) hit a financial rough patch. The wedding never happened. The dress sat in my closet for four years. When my sister moved out of my house most recently, she didn't even take it with her. She never asked about Recently, I had a change of financial circumstances. I had to leave my home and my marriage overnight due to domestic violence. I had no time to plan and no safety net. It’s been pretty bad. I’ve run out of gas on the side of the road and gone days without eating to save money. My parents are dead, and the rest of my family usually counts on me and can't help me, so I haven't even asked. I've just been selling everything I own to survive. My sister is aware of my leaving, and my financial state, since I told her I might not make the car insurance payment. I realized the dress is currently "having a moment" and retailing for twice what I originally paid. To me, it felt like a miracle—an investment I didn't know I had. I posted it for sale a couple of places online (marketplace, poshmark, etc.) to try and sell it for some emergency cash. When I posted it to TikTok, my sister commented: "Well this sucks. I wanted to give it to (her daughter) when she grows up." Her daughter is 3, and the wedding would have been to her father, who my sister is no longer with. Now I feel like I was justified in selling the dress. I paid for it, ive stored it for four years, and she never asked about it. My family knows I’m struggling, but maybe they don't know the extent. To be fair, they also haven’t actually bothered to ask. From her perspective, I'm selling her "dream dress" and her daughter's future heirloom. From my perspective, I am literally trying to survive and I'm the one who paid for the dress in the first place. AITA for selling it without asking her first? I also wanted to let everyone know that I’m currently in therapy, I’m in a safe place, and I am doing my everything I can to start over. To answer some questions: First, a funny one. A few people said I was a ChatGPT bot. I’m gonna blame that on the generational trauma of an English teacher mother who drilled grammar and sentence structure into my brain. She would be so proud! Second, no, I didn't ask my sister if I could sell the dress. But there’s a reason for that. She hadn’t answered my calls, texts, or Facebook messages for several weeks before I listed it. I had reached out to her multiple times, even offering her a chance to come say goodbye to my senior dog who I have to let rest this coming week. I also asked her for information on a job she used to have to see if they were hiring. I have unanswered messages going back three weeks before listing the dress. The circumstances of her leaving my house the last time were not dire ones. She had been living rent free with me, and when our parents died she stayed in their old house for free until it had to be sold. My parents had a LOT of debt, and the house was in foreclosure and had to be sold. At that point, another family member and I actually paid for her to get her own apartment with her kids. She took almost everything she owned, but she left that dress behind in a closet of one of the rooms she stayed in in my house. She also left behind a huge mess, having trashed my house before she left. We had to rent a U-Haul to get all the trash out and I needed to get professional cleaning solutions for the unsanitary things I found. As I’m writing this, for the first time in my life, I think I’m just angry. I’m finally realizing how much I’ve done for my family, only to see that not a single one of them even checked on me. They knew I was out of gas and had no money. They knew my husband was abusive. They knew he tried to run me off the road with his car and that’s why I finally fled—and not one of them cared. Thank you all for opening my eyes to the excuses I’ve been making for people who are, frankly, just selfish. I promised my parents before they passed that I would always take care of my sister and brothers, and I have tried so hard to keep that promise. But I’m done. I have to take care of myself now.
