Its kinda wild to me that the Utah beauty standards (a lot of them held up by mormonism) are finally going viral for how outrageous they are. I remember growing up going to highschool in utah and seeing that the most popular girl in school was always getting fake spray tans and had bleach blonde hair. and yes the curls that aren't really curls. I used to use bronzer as face powder because I wanted to look like the tan popular girls. (who were usually mormon) Living there my entire life and I still have no idea why the beauty standards are like that. my guess is you also see these people at church and everyone is trying to one up eachother, the men in the church are picky so the women feel the need to be more and more pretty, and their obsession with the California styles and look. How do you manage silky hair as a man? I have very silky thin hair, and no matter what I try, it goes flat within minutes. It doesn’t hold volume or shape and it’s honestly frustrating. Now on the presumably "tail end" of my logarithmic reaction to my hair routine. Here's my stack and some commonly asked questions from my updates a quarter ago. Routine: .3% Finasteride, 6% Minoxidil topical combination. Applied originally via four .25ml sprays. Moved to a dropper bottle at month 4. Applied nightly 6x per week right before bed, have only missed 2 nights total. Dermastamp (microneedle) 1mm once weekly before bed. Temples and scalp. I skip the topical on this night. Keta shampoo, normal concentration, 3 mins on scalp once or twice a week. Other Considerations people asked about (probably didn't have much of a hair-effect): I religiously take a multivitamin, fish oil, magnesium glycinate, and 5g of creatine daily. I lift 4x weekly and play team sports once or twice weekly. I sleep 8.5 hrs per night consistently. I drink socially most weekends. In the back half of my 20s. I am not sponsored, so I will not provide the brand name of the topical. It is safe to assume that it is the largest US men's hair regrowth company. Receded lightly through college then thinned consistently for a year before deciding to do something about it. I have had zero side effects. None whatsoever. Here are the things I wish I'd known about men, love, and dating when I was starting out. I really hope it finds the girls and women that it's meant for. If you struggle with self-esteem and being treated poorly in relationships, please read. This is not a screed against men. I love men. But if you spend too much time with the wrong ones, you will end up hating men. My wish is for every woman in a bad relationship to leave it. I would have recognized my own bad (abusive) relationship for what it was much sooner had I known some of these things to watch for in the beginning. Also, this is about hetero relationships exclusively because that's all I've ever been in. 1) Every man has an idea of his ideal woman/dream girl and if you are not it, it's never going to work out. This is not about being super hot, perfect, or a 10 on some bullshit scale. It just means that every man has his "type" - curvy, nordic, freckly, waifish, dark haired, petite, plus, whatever. It doesn't matter. But they all have a type that they prefer for reasons they don't even know. You can be a stunning Swedish model but if his dream girl is Salma Hayek, then it's just not going to work. It's not you. In fact, we all have preferences but men put their preference at the very top of their list. Don't demean yourself by changing your appearance for some man to notice you. Look around for the ones that already notice you. 2) Men try their hardest at the beginning. If he is showing up unwashed and asking for sex on the first date it is already awful and will only get worse. A good man wants to impress you and will work to do so. Just think, if that guy got that date with Salma Hayek somehow, is he going to show up in dirty jeans, try to get her to split the bill, and then demand a blow job? Not a chance. Because he knows that she would walk away and he would have ruined his only opportunity to win her attention. You need to bring this same energy about yourself to every date. Your refusal to accept that type of nonsense works wonders for your self esteem. It also raises your standing in the eyes of good men. You are wasting your one precious life if you stick around for anything less. If you've ever been made to feel guilty about this, please think about the fact that he makes more money for the same job as you, does not spend $100s on makeup, hair, nails, clothes, what have you, to look as good as you do on that date, does not have to carry pepper spray and alert his friends of his whereabouts in case he goes missing, nor do they have to wrestle with the chance of getting pregnant every time they have sex. We all know that there is no 100% fool-proof BC out there, abortions are banned or threatened in many places, and you have no guarantee that this guy is good enough to stick around and raise a child with you. You have already paid, ten-fold, for the date. If he's asking you to do more, it's because you are not his ideal woman and he is trying to squeeze extra value out of you to make up for the fact that you don't have the boobs or face he prefers. Not because your boobs or face are bad, mind you, but because of his ingrained preferences. Oh well. Better to hit that eject button early and move on. 3) There are three types of relationships - a) you are both head over heels for each other; b) he loves you more than you love him; c) you love him more than he loves you. Relationships A and B can work, C never will. Why? Because men will only put in the work of a relationship if they are really crazy in love with you. Women will put in the work regardless. Relationships can't work unless both parties are putting in the work. If you feel like you are working SO HARD on this relationship and he isn't matching the effort, you are in a C relationship. C your way out. 4) Women do the "work" of a relationship no matter where they fall on the spectrum of feelings towards their man. You can be in like with him ('he's nice') to fully head-over-heels in love with him ('I would have his babies today if he asked') and you will still do the work. What is the work? Remembering his likes and dislikes, listening to him and asking questions, compromising, doing things just because they make him smile and not because you get anything in particular out of it, making plans with him first before anyone else, considering him and his needs/desires when making plans with others (i.e. - he'll just be getting back in town that night from a long trip, I want to stay in and cook him a romantic dinner because I missed him instead of doing a girl's night). If this doesn't sound like work to you but just a regular relationship, that's because you are a woman and we do this automatically. Men will ONLY EVER put this work in for their ideal woman. If the relational work is not being reciprocated then you've got your red flags and are cleared for departure. 5) Most importantly, to a man, ANY WOMAN is better than NO WOMAN. Women bring immeasurable value to a man's life through our physical, emotional, intellectual, and sexual labor. Yes, it is all labor. They could pay separate people to cook, clean, manage, parent, and have sex with them OR they can have a girlfriend. Girlfriends are free and, for a lot of men, require very little relational upkeep. Have you ever found yourself in a relationship with a man who seemingly despises you but chases after you whenever you try to leave? Or only gives the barest minimum but then a grand gesture to keep you when he senses you drifiting away? If that's the case then you are the "any woman" that he's keeping around until he finds THE woman. Don't be a placeholder in someone's life. This is your life. And you are pouring your energy and time into a bucket with a giant hole in the bottom. 6) You will never find a good man by catering to men. A good man will find you when you are catering to yourself. Ultimately, this is your life and it is for you alone until and unless you find someone who actually makes it even better. It was never meant to be lived in devotion to another person. If you are functioning a lot in your relationship, drop the rope. Don't cook, clean, or caretake (ever, unless you love doing it) just because you are dating him. In fact, you will find out quite quickly where you stand if you stop supplying all of that extra labor. Your energy is meant to be spent on you - shower yourself with your money, delicious food, gorgeous home, extra time, whatever it may be that you create and generate. If he really wants you because you are his dream woman, you will know. He will work to earn your time and attention. It will be crystal clear that you are loved and adored. You will feel safe. I'm getting married next month. We are keeping it small, just immediate family and a few close friends in the park on a Friday afternoon. 16 guests total plus the officiant and the photographer. For her job my fiancée works in a lab that sterilizes medical instruments and surgical equipment. There are strict requirements to work there in terms of appearance and the dress code. They aren't allowed to wear any makeup at all, any kind of nail polish or fake nails or any kind of perfume/cologne/body spray or other scented products. If you do show up with any of that you are sent home. My fiancée tells me since they are covered from head to toe with all their skin and hair covered no one bothers with trying to look good at work. They have to wear scrubs, a protective gown, booties over their shoes, a hair net, a face mask, glasses, a face shield and double gloves. I have been dating her for almost 2 years and living with her for a year and I have never seen her wear makeup. I honestly don't care if she doesn't because she is comfortable with how she looks. She hasn't bought or worn it in 15 years because of her job. My mom and my sister are unhappy she isn't going to wear makeup for the wedding. They say she will look "washed out" and "not good" in the photos. We did hire a professional photographer for the wedding. It was our biggest expense but we want to have nice photos. He has photographed hundreds of weddings and he took our engagement photos. In our engagement photos my girlfriend didn't wear makeup and she looks fine. It was taken in the same park at the same time of day as our wedding will be. Use shampoo only when your hair appears greasy or if you haven’t used it a handful of days. 2 Conditioner is optional Use a conditioner if your hair is dry. Conditioners by design are meant to hydrate hair, providing sheen with a soft, luscious quality. Don’t use a conditioner if your hair is fine, thin, limp, or oily. Conditioners will make greasy hair greasier. Most conditioners are heavy in a sense that they weigh down hair. This makes limp hair appear even more flat.
